"Global roaming is not the world's greatest performance enhancer," says Sara Brown, EVP of Marketing at FloLIVE, in a conversation with Doug Green, Publisher of Technology Reseller News at IT Expo. FloLIVE, which operates the world's largest cellular network for IoT, announced its Local Breakout Service, enabling mobile network operators (MNOs), MVNOs, and IoT service providers to offer localized connectivity. This service addresses data sovereignty regulations, enhances privacy compliance, and improves latency by keeping data within its country of origin rather than routing it globally. Meeting Enterprise IoT Challenges Enterprises are no longer new to IoT; many have deployed multiple generations of connected devices and are now acutely aware of pain points like latency, data sovereignty, and scalability. FloLIVE aims to solve these challenges by offering: Regulatory compliance for markets like Brazil, Turkey, China, and India, where strict data localization laws apply Improved latency by reducing reliance on inefficient global roaming routes Simplified multi-operator management, eliminating the need for enterprises to juggle multiple commercial agreements Simplifying Global IoT Deployments For U.S.-based partners managing global IoT implementations, FloLIVE provides a single point of contact for global coverage. Instead of dealing with 50+ commercial agreements, partners can rely on FloLIVE for one operator, one billing system, and one global platform with localized connectivity. What's Next for FloLIVE? FloLIVE is heading to Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where it will launch VoLTE Services—a game-changer for industries like automotive, security, and elevators, ensuring seamless emergency voice communications. The teenage years of parenting can make you feel powerless at times. Emotions run high and the ways they connect are not as easy to identify as they may have been in the past. In this episode of the podcast, Sara Brown is back to share why we need to embrace our children's behavior as communication. When we can get curious about the why behind the behavior, we can get clarity around a need that is possibly going unmet.  Sara will also share why the adults in a young person's life must do the hard work of learning to regulate our own emotions if they hope to see their kids do the same. You'll also understand why being a repair expert is key to staying in relationship with your kids or the important young people in your life.  In this episode you'll learn: Why understanding brain development is critical for communication Tips for helping a young person feel emotionally safe more often How an awareness of our own shame can help us relate to young people in our life What happens when we don't do the work of repair when we blow it How to know if your child may benefit from counseling   Grab your copy of Lifted From Shame Order your eBook or print book on Amazon here. In this episode, I am joined by a dear friend and gifted therapist, Sara Brown. As she has matured and grown in her understanding of God's unconditional love for her, she has been able to process a traumatic childhood with a mother who struggled with mental illness. Sara has done the challenging work of separating the ways she was loved and provided for while at the same time naming the ways she was not safe. We talk about how seeking out trustworthy witnesses to our pain can help us get unstuck from our trauma in specific seasons of our childhood, and even adulthood.    In this episode you'll learn: How Sara navigated having one foot in reality and one in her mother's The ways in which Sara and her siblings had to grow up so quickly How painful it was for Sara and her siblings to keep their mother's illness a secret Why it was so difficult for Sara to learn how to communicate her needs Why we can't disconnect from our trauma unless we process it   Grab your copy of Lifted From Shame Order your eBook or print book on Amazon here. This recording from August 1st, 2023. Signum MA student Gina Petrone will present her thesis “‘Let Me In!' Vampirism in Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights” and respond to questions from the audience in an interactive Thesis Theater. The discussion will be facilitated by Gina's thesis supervisor, Dr. Sara Brown. Abstract In Emily Brontë's novel Wuthering Heights, scholars have studied the gothic elements of the story, but only in recent years has the idea of vampirism emerged. Cathy, a strong-willed and spirited girl, wants nothing more than to live her life at Wuthering Heights with her soulmate, Heathcliff. However, it is impossible for the two to be together in Victorian society. Cathy is from a respectable family, and Heathcliff is treated as no better than a servant after the death of Cathy's father. Both monstrous in their own rights, Cathy and Heathcliff undergo transformations in order to become vampiric. I explore the transformation process of both characters and argue the possibility of traditional vampirism. I also argue the vampiric qualities of both characters due to their souls being halved by Cathy's death. As such, this research connects Brontë's own criticism of Victorian society to the meaning behind her characters in Wuthering Heights. About the Presenter Gina Petrone (she/her) is an English teacher for both middle and high school students. She has been an educator for the past thirteen years, and this will conclude her second Master's degree. She recently moved to upstate New York with her fiancé and four cats. About Signum Thesis Theaters Each of our master's students writes a thesis at the end of their degree program, exploring a topic of their choice. The Thesis Theater is their opportunity to present their research to a general audience, and answer questions. All are welcome to attend! Registration is open for the Fall 2023 semester! Ecologist Sara Brown takes us through eight chapters of her career and the 10 mentors that made her, from wildland firefighting, to smokejumping, to teaching in New Mexico, to directing the Missoula Fire Science Lab. Sara is a classically trained ecologist, with a focus on fire ecology. Before her return to the Forest Service in 2015, she was an Assistant Professor of Forestry at New Mexico Highlands University. She taught wildfire science and ecology courses, and enjoyed working on research problems in the field with students. Her applied research program provided graduate and undergraduate students with opportunities to work on questions relating to fire effects, fire intensity, fuel treatment effects and understanding fire history as it applies to reintroducing appropriate fire return intervals to a variety of ecosystems. Today, she is the Fire, Fuel & Smoke Program Manager at the Rocky Mountain Research Station in Missoula, Montana. Sara Brown and Stephen Smith have edited a much needed and fascinating compilation of essays on the intersection of religion and mass atrocity. Their intent is not to theorize the relationship, but rather to explore how religious faith, institutions and leaders have participated in, resisted and remembered genocide and mass violence.  The Routledge Handbook of Religion, Mass Atrocity, and Genocide (Routledge, 2021) is notable for both for its regional and chronological breadth. There are several essays on the Holocaust, as one would expect. But contributions range from mass violence in the Roman world to the ethnic cleansing in Myanmar and from the Abrahamic religions to Buddhism, animism and other faith traditions. Most notable are essays that look at how changing understandings of genocide and mass atrocities reshape our understanding of the role of religious beliefs and institutions (see especially the section on colonial violence). But readers can learn much from each section of this fine volume.
