Anh Vu: From Individual Stars to Team Players - Transforming Competitive Developers Read the full Show Notes and search through the world's largest audio library on Agile and Scrum directly on the Scrum Master Toolbox Podcast website: http://bit.ly/SMTP_ShowNotes. Anh recounts his first Scrum project as a Scrum Master for a payment company, leading a team of five developers working on a new product with new technology and devices. The challenge was compounded by the fact that this was a completely new team where members didn't know each other. What started as an attempt to make work visible quickly deteriorated when developers began competing to prove they were the best rather than collaborating toward shared goals. Each developer focused solely on their individual tasks without considering the overall outcome, and when bugs appeared at the end of sprints, blame games began.  This anti-pattern of developers not prioritizing team results created a cycle where team members wouldn't help each other, ultimately undermining the project's success. Anh's key learning was that the root problem wasn't process-related but trust-related, and as a Scrum Master, addressing surface-level issues isn't enough - the real work lies in building foundational trust within the team. Self-reflection Question: In your current team, are individual achievements being celebrated more than collective success, and how might this be affecting overall team trust and collaboration? He joins Nuala, along with former Lioness and now pundit Lianne Sanderson. Campaigners in Northern Ireland want the way Victim Personal Statements are dealt with in courts there to change. At the moment people do not have the automatic right to read their own statements as part of the judicial process. Nuala talks to Commissioner Designate for Victims of Crime Northern Ireland, Geraldine Hanna, and campaigner Julieanne Boyle, who didn't get the opportunity to address the court during her case and wants to see a change for other victims. Georgina Moore's second novel River of Stars is set in a floating community on the Thames. A romance and family saga spanning three generations of women, it was inspired by her own move from self-confessed ‘ageing party girl' to houseboat mum. Despite how secular most disciplines in the physical sciences are today, those who study nature assume that nature is intelligible and that it should be explored. But how does modern science actually explain what nature is saying to us? How do the explain that nature is intelligible to us at all? Is science the only way to understand the physical universe and everything it contains? From silvery meandering rivers to the variegated heavenly canopy of stars above us, all creation is speaking to us, but in the words of the late Dr. Carl Sagan, "Who speaks for Earth?" God does. And creation is His workmanship. He has revealed to us His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine glory, through what He has made. He has given us two books to know Him better, creation and the Bible. We should be diligent students of both. On the next two episodes of Good Heavens this month, we speak with someone who has exegeted the physical creation with great care and attention. His name is Seth Lewis and he is the author of a brilliant little book The Language of Rivers and Stars - How Nature Speaks of the Glories of God. On July 21, we mark 145 years since the birth of Milan Rastislav Štefánik — a remarkable astronomer, aviator, military leader, and diplomat who played a crucial role in the founding of Czechoslovakia. Born in 1880, Štefánik lived a life that bridged science and statecraft, sky and soil, ambition and sacrifice. In this episode, we speak with renowned Slovak historian Michal Kšiňan, author of the first scientific monograph on Štefánik, “Milan Rastislav Štefánik: The Man Who Talked to the Stars,” to explore his story, public image, and some of the myths that still surround him today.
