Many people think you are either creative or you're not but, as we'll learn from Director at Crayola Education Cheri Sturman, that is officially a MYTH - listen to this episode and learn why.  Cheri talks about so many amazing ways to find creativity in every day life and incorporate this into your life and the life of your child.  Cheri Sterman, Director at Crayola Education, is at the helm of Crayola's Creativity Week – a free program focused on celebrating creativity through educational content that more than 4.5 million students and approximately 285,000 educators in the U.S. participated in last year alone. This year, Creativity Week runs January 27th through February 2nd. Register for free here Also use the hashtag #crayolacreativityweek when you post your child's work on social media for a chance at FABULOUS prizes including art supplies, telescopes and even a $5,000 college fund scholarship.  With her extensive background in child development, education, and the creative process, Cheri is uniquely positioned to discuss the complex nature of creativity and its critical role in fostering essential 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and emotional intelligence. During this interview Cheri explores: Redefining Creativity: How Crayola is broadening the definition of creativity to encompass cognitive skills, emotional development, and problem-solving. Empowering Parents: Practical tips for parents to integrate creative moments into daily life and nurture creativity beyond traditional arts and crafts and learn how parents can access free resources through Crayola's Creativity Week. Challenging Myths About Creativity: Debunking the myth that creativity is an innate trait reserved for a select few and demonstrating how it can be cultivated in every child. Creativity and the Future: Discussing how fostering creativity equips children to tackle future challenges by developing flexible thinking and innovative problem-solving skills. Here are 5 Simple Creative Moments You Can Create At Home that don't cost anything and don't take very much time: 1) Take a nature walk, even just down your block, and notice the shapes, colors and sounds. 2) Use travel time in new ways - when you're stuck in traffic or on a road trip, make up a funny story or add new lyrics to a familiar song. 3) If you have a project you need to work on, give the kids some blankets and cardboard boxes and tell them to build a fort or an obstacle course and then once you finish your project, go play in the fort or go through the course with your kids. 4) Give the kids fabric scraps and pillow cases and let them make costumes and make up a play 5) Break down a cardboard box or two and let them use them to make new things - like a bridge across a puddle or a ramp for their toy cars.  Just enjoy the moments and let your kids think freely - you'll be glad you did and you'll be amazed at what you learn!  Find out more at www.crayola.com and on their YouTube Channel here.  Please listen and subscribe to our podcast and leave a 5-star review so we can reach more parents like you! We're in for a real treat today as we welcome author and doctor of classical Chinese Medicine, Ann Cecil-Sterman, on to the show. Ann is a passionate participant in the revival and preservation of the classical teaching's of acupuncture. In a societal landscape where this incredibly rich and time-honoured craft is continually being dried out and robbed of its innate magic and energetic intelligence, Ann's work is profoundly needed. Speaking to us of the emergence and history of acupuncture, Ann takes us on a journey through its origins, emphasising its birth as a complete system devoid of any gradual elemental development. Instead, over time, its holistic essence has been eroded by the commercialisation and materialistic pursuits of the Western world. Ann sheds light on the fact that even the term "Traditional," commonly used to describe this ancient practice (e.g. Traditional Chinese Medicine or TCM), is a relatively recent addition, tacked on to the modality by Chairman Mao at the time of its colonisation. We're reminded that classical acupuncture is a practice founded on the principals of animism, a shamanic offering that ultimately aims to heal an individual's ailing spirit through devotional intention, a medicine that is truly of the heart.  Ann graciously guides us through the intricate network of acupuncture points and channels, highlighting how the Western approach, driven by intellectual rigour, has often oversimplified this comprehensive system. Confusing rote learning and academia with genuine skill and mastery. Throughout this incredibly inspiring and thought provoking chat, the message we're continually left with is this; the core essence of Chinese medicine and acupuncture is derived from the concept of conservation, one that holds deep reverence for bodily energy as a finite resource. The human form is seen to be the bridge between what is of the heavens and what is of the earth, and following the Tao, the way; nature, is a task that asks us to be considerate of what surrounds us, above, below, and in all directions. To know deeply that although we exist within a sea of infinite energetic potential, that the flesh, sinew, bone and blood of our body is at the mercy of elemental forces, and to live long and prosper, we must be moderate in our consumption of life and experience. Listening to Ann share her profound wisdom with Mason is a genuine pleasure, offering a discourse that I hope all our listeners will savour and contemplate.   Ann & Mason discuss: - The historical emergence of classical acupuncture.  - How the true practices of acupuncture and Chinese medicine have been diluted through colonisation. - Reducing degenerative disease with lifestyle medicine. - The connection between mental health and Kidney Essence. - Cold exposure through the lens of Chinese medicine. - The healing potential of warm water.   Resource guide Guest Links Ann's WebsiteAnn's Instagram Ann's Facebook  Ann's Twitter  Mentioned In This Episode Becoming Healthy, Staying Healthy Book Related Podcasts Why Chinese Medicine Is Failing Us with Rhonda Chang (EP#80) YinYang Wuxing For Inner Harmony with Rhonda Chang (EP#89) Preserving Classical Chinese Medicine with Dr. Simon Feeney (EP#127)   Connect With Us SuperFeast InstagramSuperFeast FacebookSuperFeast TikTok SuperFeast Online Education   Check Out The Transcript Below: https://www.superfeast.com.au/blogs/articles/reviving-classical-acupuncture-with-ann-cecil-sterman-ep-208

You'll open your heart and mind through this empowering conversation with our returning guest, colleague, author, international teacher, musician, and Classical Acupuncturist, Ann Cecil-Sterman. In the first part of this two-part episode on remote healing and The Power of Intention, Ann shares: * How time alone in England recently changed Ann's views of teaching and helped her realize that “the greatest enemy to broad thinking and expansion of consciousness is fact.” * Why you must raise your courage to question what's considered true, and how both a shift in consciousness and intention are essential for this to happen * Great advice for both healthcare practitioners and those of you who simply want more tools for your self-cultivation * How you can access a resonance to your essence without needles or tangible tools, simply through the power of intention * How Covid has catalyzed the profession of acupuncture to go into a different direction, and how this change will make the benefits of this practice more accessible to a wider audience  The power of intention is more important than you may think. As Salvador illuminates in our discussion in this episode: “we have to learn, especially collectively, to see ourselves well.” You'll learn the power of turning around your negative thinking towards a more positive, healing perspective that can create transformation in all aspects of your life. Crafting the meaning in life, choosing our purpose and then having the courage and wherewithal to unfold that is not an easy task. Are we puppets in the hands of fate, or do we have the capacity to influence the rudder and chart our life path? Human beings have long grappled with questions surrounding our fate and destiny. And according to traditional Chinese medicine, the answer may lie in the extraordinary channels. Accessing the Chong meridian may be key to tapping a stable foundation that allows for accessing our truest nature. In this conversation with Ann Cecil Sterman, we unravel the notion that all intention is heart-centered unless interfered with by the mind. The topic takes us down a fascinating path where we mull over the idea of accessing the Chong meridian and uncovering the blueprint of our life. We also explore what it means to be a proficient practitioner, the issue of the mind defending against destiny, and why acupuncture is all about the channels.Listen into this discussion on mind, intention, fate, and navigating the blueprint of one's destiny.

I recently got to thinking about wei qi, especially as we are moving into the dark of the year in the northern hemisphere, and I realized that I hear discussions about wei qi, and how we should attend to it, or nourish it. Often enough, perhaps too often, we equate wei qi with the immune system. And think about strength, rather than balance. What's more, the commonly used formulas that are famous for ‘stabilizing or strengthening the exterior” are frequently prescribed without any kind of actual differential diagnosis. Concerns about effectiveness and maybe even safety naturally arise. In this conversation with Ann Cecil-Sterman, Laurie Ayers and Master Wu, we bring together the perspectives of an acupuncturist, an herbalist, and a qi gong practitioner. The intention here is to see how experienced clinicians from these three  disciplines within East Asian consider the Wei and its use in clinical work.  Listen in to this discussion of the Wei qi, its source, cultivation, and connections with the yang, zheng, fluids and Heart.

Marc admits that both Steven and Jake were sorely missed in his encounters with Zodiac, and The Structure and that the Fist of Khonshu also needs eyes, ears and direction. Jake turns his attention to investigating the brewing vampire problem in the city, with the intent of broaching a potential alliance. Reuben, Naomi's brother and a vampire himself, is in hiding and Naomi confesses Chinatown is where he's fled to. Meanwhile, Steven uses his connections to research more on Nemean and Grand Mal through his contact Kurt, under the guise of a joint venture to capitalise on Super villains. Dr Sterman also asks Marc how his friends took the news that he has DID and each had their own unique reaction. Soldier maintained a wider and blinder faith in Marc, regardless of the reveal of his other alters; Hunter's Moon berates Marc, not for his disorder, but for the plan he has with the vampires; and Reese, who reassures Marc with the care she has for him now. As acupuncturists, we practice our medicine as both a science and an art. Science in the sense of organizing the learned or experiential structure of the lens through which we view imbalances. Art in the sense of recognizing that each individual is a unique, multidimensional, and dynamic entity who embodies both revelation and mystery.  Our job is to encounter the energetic mystery of our practice with certainty. Even in the midst of complexities, we should seek to grasp the spirit of the medicine, of the moment, of the individual; to be in tune with the Dao.  In this conversation with Anne Cecil Sterman, we explore the potency and mystery of acupuncture, how it works, the importance of  through intention, being present, and approaching the treatment with an element of  certainty. We also touch on the need to trust acupuncture, the power of the mind, and the great luo of the Stomach. Capes On the Couch - Where Comics Get Counseling

It's our first ever sequel episode, and we're taking another crack at MOON KNIGHT! Four years after our first look at Marc Spector, how has he changed? How have we? Intro Podchaser Reviews4Good Thanks to new Patron - Local Official Nicole! Background (4:20) Moon Knight created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin in Werewolf by Night #32 (Aug. 1975) Go back to episode 4 for the full rundown “Killed” Khonshu inside his head and reconciled all his identities Discovered he had an unknown daughter fathered by Jake Lockley with Marlene, who opted not to tell Marc/Steven - said daughter was kidnapped by Bushman and the Sun King to lure Moon Knight out to kill him - Moon Knight defeats Sun King with Khonshu's help Age of Khonshu - Under the influence of Khonshu, battled the Avengers to take over the world in order to protect it, and at one point became a host for the Phoenix Force - gave up the power in order to help the Avengers overthrow Khonshu and imprison him Even though no longer under the influence of Khonshu, decides to resume protecting travelers of the night Discovered he is not the only Fist of Khonshu, and after some initial confrontations, came to an uneasy alliance with the Hunter's Moon, who considers Marc to have gone rogue and hopes to still bring him back under the formal fold of Khonshu worshippers Issues (7:58) Still coping with influence from Khonshu, even though he no longer has actual control over him Struggling with empathy for those who would do him harm (18:21) Break (26:45) Plugs for BetterHelp, Legends: A Superhero Story, and Erica Schultz Treatment (28:45) In-universe -  Out of universe - Create a velvet rope/red carpet situation (32:07) Skit (40:51) Hello again Marc. - Bet you didn't think you'd see me again, huh? At this point I don't try to predict the future. Open-mindedness has led me to a healthier headspace, so I don't see a reason to change now. I will say, however, thatI hope this session is less…dramatic. - That makes two of us. Understand though, it's not like that was my fault. Too many chefs in the kitchen…man it's tough to say that out loud. The good news is that I have a new perspective. I'm not trying to infringe on another professional's case. I've talked to Dr. Sterman, and I'm impressed with how she's been able to help you so far. - That's why I'm surprised she told me to see you. What gives? All of us take breaks when necessary, even psychiatrists. We can cover for each other. - I…get it, conceptually, but there's a problem then. You don't swap out partners in a marriage, right? And why is that? Because unless you're reallllllly open, it screws up the relationship you already had. Now how am I supposed to recreate that type of rapport with you?  All fair points. I'm not replacing her. I'm a second opinion, if that makes you feel better about it. A consultant. - Considering this conversation is already smoother than the entire first session, I'll consider it a win for now. So what have you been working on most recently? It sounds like you've had a consolidation. That's incredibly rare! - As if you thought we're all separate anyway? I did some searching myself…you don't really buy all of this, do you? You probably just tag me as “crazy” and throw my chart in a pile with schizophrenics. Please give me more credit than that! I'm not saying that your way of dealing with stress hasn't led to dissociation, I'm saying that the DESCRIPTIONS that have been given don't necessarily have to be their own person…Is this type of conversation going to actually help you, or are you testing me? - A little from column A, a little from column B. Are you satisfied with your reactions to potential situations that have led you to split before? - I'll never be satisfied, because I never WANT it to happen. It's not like we're a happy-go-lucky sewing circle. But there's mutual respect.  How did you get to that point? -By not arguing with the likes of you *small laugh* but seriously, I had some baggage I had to drop. You ever had a mentor? Of course; no doctor has been trained without multiple mentors, even if we don't identify them that way in the moment. - Well what if one of them leads you down a path you didn't want to go? What if they're responsible for your success, but then they're manipulating you…maybe even tearing you down. You understand?  I'm following…keep going - So what's the right answer? I know you enough that you're probably thinking “find your own path.” Still, this guy has THE path. Do things his way, and you are guaranteed some great results. Anything else kinda looks like failure. So you don't want to fail him, or yourself? -Easy answer is both.  But how…oh this is cliche  “How does it make me feel?”-  You want MY answer?  *sigh* I get it…what are ALL of the answers?  - Jake doesn't care as long as I keep the ones close to me safe. Steven thinks it's beneath us to pander to outdated nonsense, and I'm…I'm talking to you about it because I basically already made a decision for all of us, and I don't want remorse over doing whatever the hell I want because I think I have all of this under control. And I don't want a guilt trip from you telling me that this is what you wanted to talk about in the first session because I couldn't handle it directly and let the other guys take the lead too much. Plus I HOLD ON! There's no need to get defensive. I'm thankful for your candor. I'll take what you're saying at face value. - Even if it's an ancient god that is partly responsible for the fact that I have this condition in the first place?  All I'm saying is that…whatever your descriptions are, relationships change. Some better, some worse. There's no point in placing blame. It sounds like you decided to move on. - That's not entirely accurate. I still do a ton under his auspices. I want to. Just not HIS way. There's bound to be some situations that piss him off. I'm well past the point of caring. Yes he gave me these gifts, and yes those gifts came with strings attached. But the hand operating the strings also became a ceiling, and if I wanted to grow I was going to have to break the string, the ceiling, the hands, the whole damn thing. I guess the question is, is it worth it to you? Growth and destruction can look a lot alike. Recognize that your own actions can create more trauma for yourself. - Are you TRYING to get me riled up? I'm not going to throw away everything I've built for some false sense of freedom. I'm willing to talk to you because I want to be smart about this. My mind's made up. I don't need hand holding. So you're not Khonshu's lackey…but you're willing to wear the uniform. You maintain the moniker. You have a long way to go before anybody looks at you another way. - I can tell I've matured, because there's a part of me that would want to punch you in the face for that…and NO I don't mean it the way you're thinking.  OK, so what do you mean then? - I mean… you have no idea what I struggle with on a regular basis. Hell, even sitting in this chair talking to you is using up all of my mental faculties just to maintain a conversation. But I'm not the guy anymore who's going to use that as an excuse to lash out, or sit here and think you're making assumptions about me so I might as well live up to them. I'm trying to be a better man, gods dammit, but these things take time and energy. So I'm not going to work on reinventing the wheel just so I can say it's mine. I'll do what I can with what I can, and opinions be damned. Don't be a reboot, be a remix. I like it. I apologize if I'm pushing buttons, but that's because I won't know exactly what clicks until you answer like that. I have enough trust in you that I can challenge your base assumptions, and vice versa. So, where do we go with your plan? - Well, you may have trust in me, but all cards on the table, I'm still not fully on board with you. No offense, but I've been stabbed in the back too many times at this point to go headfirst into someone else's idea of what they think will help me be better. Even if they're letting me have one hand on the wheel. I was there before, and it was all an illusion. So we can keep talking, and maybe eventually we'll get there. But that's all I can promise you for right now. From what I gather of you, though, I think that's enough for you to work with. Can I level with you? When you first met me, you were all over the place. Your sentences bordered on senseless, and you continued to split so many times that it made my head spin. I knew that this was through no fault of your own, and I could have very easily considered you a danger. But I still want to work with you. You know why? Because even with all of the alters, all of the violence, all of the chaos, I saw a man that was determined to find a way to do what he considers to be the right thing when he could have shunned the world for what it has done to him. Take that for what you will, but I think that means we're about equal in the contribution to the gap between our trust. - I can work with that. Guess we'll be seeing you around, then. Sterman goes on to assess Moon Knight and talks about the parallels and differences between him and Winner. Though both have had trauma inflicted on them by others (Hydra for Winner, Khonshu for Spector), Sterman sees Moon Knight as being his own saboteur, when it comes to reaching his potential. She questions his allegiance to Khonshu, and ponders whether Moon Knight should unshackle himself from his overbearing guilt. Moon Knight in turn questions Dr. Sterman, but remains focused and intent on telling his whole story. It turns out that Winner - like Spector - just wants to get better. Sterman's insistence that Winner can't be saved, helps Moon Knight calls out her deception. To Sterman's surprise, Moon Knight threatens her and tells her to reveal her true self. And after calling out his name, the Waxman reveals himself…he took Dr Sterman's place at the behest of Zodiac who told him to break Moon Knight. Waxman decides it all a waste and he and Moon Knight start to fight.  With the help of some liquid nitrogen, Waxman is contained and ultimately constrained within a seamless steel sphere created by the living Midnight Mission. . Följ Karolina här: http://minervas.se/https://www.instagram.com/minervas.se/ Följ Celestial Podcast här:https://www.instagram.com/_celestialpodcast Se avsnittet på Youtube: https://open.spotify.com/show/5CaOfcJ5r45jSkf9odmSB9?si=6b67https://youtu.be/x_ClU0z1Khk8afe00b1421b  Enjoy my loves!/Stella Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. Alasdair talks to John Sterman about his groundbreaking research that proved burning wood for energy will "increase atmospheric CO2 for at least a century". John Sterman is the Jay W. Forrester Professor of Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management, the Director of the MIT System Dynamics Group and the Director of the MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative. His team developed a model for dynamic bioenergy lifecycle analysis, which he hoped would prove burning "wood was part of the solution" for the climate. Instead, "it came out the other way". In this brilliant episode we managed to cover a lot of ground with Ann Cecil Sterman – where we talked about dynamic pulse diagnosis, and how actively taking the pulse allows a practitioner to derive conclusions about how the organs are interacting with each other. We covered so much more than just dynamic pulse diagnosis. We got to hear about Ann's life mission, her passion and even how she plays in a professional orchestra from time to time.We also got into the nitty gritty on the “other channels” that are often forgotten about. Ann discusses how they are very powerful and an essential part of every acupuncturists toolkit that should be learned about and not be ignored. And of course the question of dosage for acupuncture – how often should we be giving acupuncture to our patients in order to get them an optimal outcome? And what to do if your treatment that should be working isn't working.Ann Cecil Sterman is a long time student of Dr Jeffrey Yuen, and has a busy practice in Manhattan New York where she focuses on treating chronic degenerative diseases. She has published 2 books: Advanced Acupuncture, A Clinic Manual, Protocols for the Sinew, Luo, Divergent and Eight Extraordinary Channels, and The Art of Pulse Diagnosis. Ann's teaching schedule can be found here. We'd love to hear your comments and feedback on this episode. Please drop by our Facebook page to let us know what you think on this topic!
