In modern software development, microservices are crucial. Lauren Beltz, also known as The Budget Boss shares her journey from growing up in an accounting family to carving her niche in bookkeeping and finance for small businesses. She discussed The Budget Brigade, her initiative blending education and personal finance. Lauren emphasized the importance of budgeting and recounted her own experiences with managing finances, including the challenges of budgeting on a variable income and the importance of frugality and intentionality in spending. She also talked about her personal life, including her plans to move to Colorado and her strategies to avoid lifestyle creep. Additionally, Lauren provided insights on the emotional aspects of financial planning, the significance of enjoying life without overspending, and the importance of setting realistic financial goals. Learn more about Lauren Beltz: Lauren grew up in a family surrounded by accountants. She learned from prepping 1040 returns at a young age that she did not want to follow the family trend. She ended up becoming a bookkeeper instead, working in finance and helping small businesses since her teenage years. Lauren has always been fascinated with numbers and patterns. With over fifteen years of experience, she is excited to take the knowledge she's learned in industries spanning from aviation, investment firms, motorsports, and retail and focusing it to where her true passion lies – personal finance, sole proprietorships, and small businesses. She is a previous Financial Peace University coordinator and loves helping friends and colleagues with personal finance questions. It became an inside joke at her last corporate position that an unofficial employee benefit working there was free access to “Budget with Beltz” which has now become The Budget Brigade. Lauren splits her free time between her two passions: money and stories. When she isn't working the analytical side of her brain at The Budget Brigade, you can find her spinning up her creative side, writing and editing at Lauren Beltz Writes. Our guest today shares how not only are students of all ages needing financial guidance, the solutions available to them can completely change the way we look at student loan repayment and consolidation. In this episode, we have the pleasure of sitting down with Erik Kroll, CFP®, the founder of Hilltop Financial Advisors and Student Loans Over 50. Erik's journey in the financial advisory world began in 2015 when he set out to create a business that could afford him the opportunity to blend work with the rest of his active lifestyle. Originally a versatile advisor, Erik's expertise naturally evolved over time, leading him to identify a crucial need in the market—helping older clients nearing retirement navigate their substantial student loan burdens. He tells stories about how he has changed the financial landscape for his clients, including helping one client eliminate over $250,000 in student loan debt practically overnight! We discussed how he manages the two brands of the company, as well as what he's hoping to accomplish with his business. One really unique thing that Erik has built is a tiered service model that allows him to work with clients at different stages of their financial journey—something that many financial advisors have trouble navigating. For those looking at a great example of how to do this successfully, be sure to tune in! You can find show notes and more information by clicking here: https://www.xyplanningnetwork.com/368

Ruth sets out how she developed a powerful and compassionate approach to meeting these disempowering performance issues through deep somatic and interrelational work to achieve fascinating outcomes with her people. “Being in a minority, even in a minority of one, did not make you mad. There was truth and there was untruth, and if you clung to the truth even against the whole world, you were not mad.” ― George Orwell, 1984 How do people change? How does someone living in a closed and oppressive society develop insights and a worldview at odds with everything around them and everyone they know? This is the journey of change for one such person. Hussein Aboubakr Mansour, born in 1989 in Cairo, Egypt received a conservative Muslim education and grew up religiously devout, originally wanting to become a jihadist. While witnessing the creeping radicalization of society, he developed his own personal beliefs, pursuing with strength and determination the right to live freely. He participated in the Arab Spring protests in 2011 and soon afterward sought political asylum in the United States which was granted in 2014. Hussein has since served as an Assistant Professor of Hebrew Language at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, become a U.S citizen in 2017, served in the U.S Army Reserve, and is currently a public speaker, a blogger and an advocate for peace and education. Through a very circuitous route, Hussein Aboubakr grew to challenge the all-pervasive propaganda in his native Egypt, driving its citizens to hate the West and all Infidels, in particular The United States, the state of Israel and the Jewish people. His deeply inquisitive intellect led him to suffer interrogations, imprisonments and torture, until finally being granted political asylum in the U.S. Renee Garfinkel, Ph.D. is a psychologist, writer, Middle East television commentator and host of The New Books Network's Van Leer Jerusalem Series on Ideas. Time and time again, our history and legacy have been told through the eyes of non-black people. Black women, particularly, have been portrayed as angry, uneducated, intimidating, etc. Often we are made to feel that we have little to no control over our destiny. However, we know the truth. We are Queens... Goddesses. This third installment in the three-part Unchained Goddess series, where my powerful and pearl-dropping co-authors of the book share their own personal stories of triumph, struggle, and wisdom with the goal of helping others unlock the goddess in them.Part 3 circles around our own encounters with situations that involve racism, spirituality, social stigmas, stereotypes, and even at times judgment from others. These things happened for us, not to us. They led us to a path that brought personal, professional, entrepreneurial, and social growth and expansion. This project is proof that a group of black women can work together, support each other, uplift each other, and speak life into each other as black women, all without drama. My fellow goddesses and authors, Andrea “Infiniti” Jones, Shameka Jones, Jena Robinson, Dawn Kristin Ellison, Tierra Womack, and Paula Nichole Goode, also share their tips on how to live the most opulent life while staying true to their most authentic goddess self. Because it is only by living out and embracing our true identity can we live out our God-given purpose.Love to catch up on previous episodes? This week's episode is a throwback to my other podcast, https://www.sonyastattmann.com/podcast/ (The Feminine Lens). It's a solo episode, where I shared my thoughts on strengths, weaknesses, and why it's so important to identify your unique genius. So much of professional development is built on improving skills or tasks that we're not very good at. This approach reinforces the falsehood that business success is tied to our worthiness. I want to help you reframe this whole concept. When you stop wasting energy on your “flaws” and instead center everything around your innate genius, you can build a business or life that aligns with your authentic self. Join me as I discuss: The crucial difference between learned strengths and built-in capacities. Why doing things you've learned how to do well can feel productive, while secretly draining your energy and leading to burnout. Unchaining your growth from your worth. How aligning your business with your unique genius will unlock more energy, more growth, and more wealth. Timert Shimelis is a blogger, a podcaster and the founder of an incredible platform, Unchaining Me.In this episode, Tiemert gives us a look into the unraveling and unchaining process that took place in her life, how her early childhood experiences shaped her identity and became a catapult for what she would later experience as an adult and her mission to help other women undergo the same unchaining journey that she has embarked onHer personal experience with depression has equipped her with specific tools to not only help herself, but influence and empower an entire community of women who typically shy away from conversations about mental health due to cultural stigma and taboo. Her genuine ability to share openly and courageously is captivating and inspiring.Lean in to this episode with attentiveness and mindfulness as she shares some key signals to look for when we're not feeling ourselves and how to break the cycles that we've been repeating and resulting in unwanted results that keep us chained.
Unchaining can't happen without examining our thoughts. Our thoughts, our narration about our situations, the stories we tell ourselves. This episode offers a glimpse into when how and why we must approach our very thoughts with curious questioning and investigation instead of automatic identification.
