You may recall that we sipped Annex Ale Project's Easy Answers Pale Ale when we recorded our Crypto vs Climate episode back in Season 3.  Little did we know that would be the start of a fun and productive relationship with the good folks at Annex Ales.  And now the beer is here, we're proud to introduce our very own Energy vs Climate Session Ale, the beer that remembers to turn off the lights when it leaves the room.To celebrate, we made a bonus episode taking you behind the scenes of brewing the beer. Keeping with the Energy vs Climate program, Annex Ale Project brewed this beer using alt techniques that minimize energy input while maintaining maximum flavour output. Following the initial boil, cool, and subsequent in-tank dilution, Annex dry-hopped with Vic Secret and Lemondrop to achieve a delicious, pleasantly piney resinous aroma—super on-brand with what we assume to be Mother Nature's vibe. All proceeds from EvC Session Ale go towards increasing the brewery's energy efficiency, so cheers to new lighting and improved circulation! And stay tuned for the second half of EvC Season Four, coming in early March 2023.energyvsclimate.com@EnergyvsClimate

The second drop of Link Up's Series 3 comes from Kingston, ON's Fine Balance Brewing, and while they're still less than two years old, they've already been making some serious noise in Ontario's craft beer scene. Tiff and Cee hung with Founder Andrew Silver and cracked their gem of a Link Up brew, a juicy 5.5% Pale Ale with Citra, Citra Cryo and Vic Secret hops. They chatted about their quarterly dedication to giving back and how Link Up was a crucial part of that, the community groups they work with to diversify their team, and how they can get the attention of the wider community. Cheers! About the Link Up season: We're back with a brand new season of BAOS Podcast, and this one is something very special and very close to us. (You lied to me) Even though you said we'd be open sooner(You lied to me) Even though you said there'd be no masksYes he tried, yes he cried, cried, criedBut it's the RETURN OF THE MATT .........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................The BBB Three Rivers taproom is once open for business, and all is once again right in Matt's world... Or is it? Matty recaps day one of "the new normal" in taproom operation, from the simplicity of viewing the required table service as though the brewery is (temporarily) a restaurant, to his bouts of difficulty having to put names to faces of customers once more, and of course, the unproportionately vocal segment of militant anti-maskers in within society. Beyond taproom talk, the guys try out something new, and return (once again!) to technical town to breakdown one of Noah's recipes (Reciprocal this time around) through means of Matty self-consciously asking questions about malt selection, approach to hopping in the beer, and origin story from a philosophical angle. Seemed like a segment that has potential, so as always, let us know what you think, subscribe, recommend, and review. Remember, any number of stars helps as long it's more than 4 ;-) ..........................................................................................................................................................................................Music: "Mountain Climb" by Jake Hill

On this edition of The BOB Happy Hour, we had some miscommunication and time zone confusion with our scheduled guest so we - The Hat, The Hair, and The Head (TH3) - chatted amongst ourselves about how COVID-19 is impacting us and how we are coping during these challenging times.       What we're drinking: Matchless Brewing - Tumwater, WA Legacy System, Pilsner, 5% ABV "Sometimes the old system has something special that doesn’t need to be replaced. Big malt character from Weyermann Pilsner, Rahr Old World Pilsner and Weyermann Carahell malts are balanced out with moderate bitterness and floral hop character from a combination of Sterling and Saaz fermented cold with Rocky Mountain for a smooth finish."   Barlows Brewing - Vancouver, WA Mischief & Disorder, Hazy IPA, 7.5% ABV "We've created a new hazy IPA with Norwegian-origin Kviek yeast that ferments quickly at much higher temperatures than most ale yeasts. This hazy is juicy, fruity and impossible to see through with flavors of pineapple, papaya, peach and melon. No fruit was used in this beer. "   Brothers Cascadia Brewing - Vancouver, WA Helles Lager, 4.5% ABV "A traditional light lager hailing from Munich Germany, we were inspired to tackle this particularly complex beer. From the highest quality ingredients to the extended lagering time, we made every effort to create a crushable lager that is as exciting as it is drinkable."   Matchless Brewing - Tumwater, WA Hop About Down Under IPA, 7% ABV "Made in collaboration with Brewmaster’s Taproom in Renton. Tropical hop stylings from Australia's Ella, Galaxy and Vic Secret meet a rich malty body from Bairds Pale and Gambrinus Honey Malts. Bright crispy bitterness and deep golden color."   Episode Links: Business Over Beer BizOverBeer on YouTube Business Over Beer with Abby Spyker #TravisForPresident Common Core Math

Hop character should be fresh and evident, derived from any variety of hops. Hop flavor should not be harsh.-Perceived Bitterness: Very high but not harsh-Body : Medium to full-Additional notes: This style of beer should exhibit the fresh character of hops. It goes way beyond that – intense aromas of pineapple, freshly crushed gooseberry, orange pith and the whole spectrum of “dank” blast through the glass. That’s what you get with nearly five pounds per barrel of Nelson, Mosaic, and Citra hops.Silver Medal: Westbound Double IPAWestbound and Down Brewing Co. Idaho Springs CO9.3% ABVNotes from Brewery : We did not hold back on this DIPA. A ludicrous amount of Vic Secret, Galaxy, Mosaic, and Cryo Mosaic hops pack big aromas of tangerine, blueberry, papaya, and other tropical fruits. A simple grain bill of 2 row base malt, wheat, and flaked oats give this beer a beautiful full body; and the high protein content contributes to a pleasant haze. To further accentuate the tropical flavor and aroma we double dry hop this beer with Vic Secret hops. Vic Secret is a newer aroma hop out of New Zealand characterized by its strong tropical fruit flavors and aromas. Even with the massive amount of hops we use this beer comes in at only 35 IBUs; low in bitterness but huge in hop flavor. He started brewing in his parent’s kitchen during his first summer break in college and it didn’t take long to decide he would open his own brewpub. Christian began his career at the Eugene City Brewery, where many of Oregon’s great brewers have had their start. He completed Intensive Brewing and Science and Engineering courses from the American Brewers Guild and was awarded the World Beer Cup Champion Brewmaster while brewing at Laurelwood Pub and Brewery in Portland. Blueberry Milkshake IPA has a velvety texture from an abundance of wheat and oats, along with berry-forward Galaxy and Vic Secret hops for flavor and aroma. The beer is then fermented on mounds of blueberries and added lactose for extra body and sweetness. Alex really likes Threadbare Ciders (Pittsburgh, PA) Jake followed up Bantam with Remnant Brewing (Somerville, MA) Trampoline time! Aeronaut Brewing (Somerville, MA) was the highlight of the day from Jake because of the beers and the jazz music. Alex and Jake are twins and it became a saving grace for their drunken Boston excursion. Jake shouts out his friends Dan and Carrie who he met at Night Shift Brewing (Everett, MA) Beer #3 : Tangerine Haze (7%) - Stillwater Artisanal Ales (Baltimore, MD) Double Dry-Hopped Sour Ale. No one was expecting a sour so we were all pleasantly surprised. Alex really liked it and Nick and Sara have an existential crisis about liking sours. Beer #4 : Ritual Colors (8%) - Foreign Objects (Clifton Park, NY) DIPA brewed with Mosaic and Vic Secret. Lots of citrus taste, but still tastes more like a standard Double IPA and not a NE Style IPA. Beefy is the great descriptor. We discuss “Stan Twitter” and Eminem's unending influence. Jake's Segment! “Don't be that guy, V2.0” - It gets heated about the shitty people we see at releases. Beer #5 : Wavvy (8%) - Stillwater Artisanal Ales Double IPA - Batch #007 (Citra/Mosaic/Amarillo) Rotationally Hopped series. Possibly the best beer of the night, refreshing and light for 8%.
