I'm convinced that the screenplay for this film was generated by AI. Of course, I have no proof for that, but 80 for Brady is so completely bizarre that if AI wasn't involved, I'd like to know what the filmmakers were smoking. For more than a decade, the Minnesota Prison Writing Workshop has provided creative writing classes to people in Minnesota correctional facilities. That work has led to the creation of a first-of-its-kind national independent press. She is the Chief of Operations and Lead Writer for Two Writing Teachers, a leading resource for writing instruction since 2007. She also co-hosts the Two Writing Teachers Podcast. Stacey earned an M.A. in Literacy Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and an M.S.Ed. in Childhood Education from Hunter College. Storytelling changes everything. It introduces us to other people's life experiences and cracks open our capacity to care and connect. For the storyteller, it provides what may be a first in a lifetime opportunity to express oneself and be heard. Some of the most powerful stories illuminate aspects of society that we lack the will to confront. Glen Maginness wanted the nation to know about young Black and Brown men like himself, sentenced to death row for a crime committed as a minor. He craved education, a resource the Texas prison system did not provide. His aspirations led to the launching of Free Minds Book Club and Writing Workshop, a nonprofit that creates community among currently and formerly incarcerated men and women through books and the conversations they spark. In this episode of Power Station, I speak with Deputy Director Julia Mascioli and Poet Ambassador Curtis McKnight about the unique challenges of DC residents who are incarcerated first in DC jails and then within the federal prison system. Inspired to push back against gendered ageism,  Stella Fosse  began writing vivid, sexy stories about older women inspired by an article by a 50-year-old romance writer in the New York Times that pushed her to challenge industry norms that favored younger characters.  Her involvement in a local writing series called "Dirty Old Women," where women over 50 read erotic stories to live audiences, further solidified her mission. Through her experiences in online dating in her 60s and meeting her partner at 62, Stella drew inspiration for her novels, including her first book, "Brilliant, Charming Bastard," and her later works centered on older women.  Stella Fosse spent many years as a technical writer in biotechnology, managing a demanding career while raising her four children. Upon retiring, she pursued her passion for storytelling. A new police accountability law, passed by lawmakers this past legislative session, aims to keep law enforcement officers from using excessive force. This comes after a sheriff's deputy was caught on video dragging a woman by her hair and slamming her into the ground. Richard Webster has been covering this for Verite News and Pro Publica. He joins us for more. The Louisiana Children's Museum in New Orleans received a major grant that will be used to help the museum better connect to an older audience. In this third episode of our three-part series, hosted by author and educator Kelly Gallagher, we press further into the concept of using AI as a writing partner, not a replacement. Kristina Peterson and Dennis Magliozzi are co-authors of the brand new book, AI in the Writing Workshop. And today alongside Kelly, they explore how their own students have used AI to grow their voices in poetry and personal narrative. Their approach empowers students to gain independence in their writing voice and autonomy in their learning.
