— Have you thought about meeting your therapist outdoors and walk together while the therapeutic processes unfold? If not, it's time for an added natural healing component! Nature! This is not a new practice method. In fact, it is a very ancient concept. Aristotle and Socrates famously walked during lectures. Sigmund Freud often walked with patients during the analysis process. Although it is unknown why this form of teaching and therapy fell out of fashion, it is finally seeing a resurgence in popularity and utility. Not only do we have increasing evidence of the effectiveness of walking with your therapist, there are many practical reasons that this form of therapy may be right for you. Exercising, especially walking, provides well-established cardiovascular benefits and the incorporation of movement with the therapeutic conversation increases the integrative capacity of each therapy session. In other words, moving while talking makes short work of problem solving, gaining insight, and making positive changes in your life! Valeria interviews Layla Niemann — She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with Waypoint Wellness Center located in Huntsville, Alabama. She earned her MSW at Alabama A & M University. Since starting out in the Social Services field in 2001, she has worked in the areas of Child Welfare, Child Forensic Interviewing, Hospice, Bereavement, Adoptions, and Geriatrics. Ms. Niemann enjoys weaving her myriad experiences into her clinical practice serving adults and children with special interest in PTSD, OCD, ADHD, Autism, and Sleep Disorders. Her approach is rooted in the belief that positive therapeutic relationships have the power to change individuals and the world around them. Ms. Niemann works diligently for racial and gender equality in her professional and personal life. She is a strong ally for LGBTQ+ individuals. She provides an affirmative approach and utilizes empowerment strategies throughout treatment. She is also a neurodiversity-affirmative therapist. Ms. Niemann is nationally certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She is trained in multiple therapy modalities including CBT, mindfulness, and Cognitive Processing Therapy, among others. Ms. Niemann believes the power of movement and the outdoors to be profoundly healing. The bilateral movement of walking is particularly useful combined with therapeutic conversation. This approach is a wonderful way to fastrack problem-solving, getting unstuck, or working through a complex personal problem. She began to notice the benefit of walking with her clients when working in assisted living facilities and skilled nursing homes. She has now expanded this practice to walking with clients in her private practice. Ms. Niemann enjoys spending time in the outdoors with her family, fostering with Huntsville Animal Services, playing music, backpacking, and running. After spending 25 years in a corporate career that blessed her life with financial freedom and reaching a networth of nearly $2 million, Lisa's goal is to empower, equip and inspire 1 million to hire themselves! Perfect Side Gigs' coaching and business pursuit platform helps those interested in pursuing the path of business builder and entrepreneur, equips people with the tools necessary to make the shift and provides a variety of vetted business platforms to consider. Lisa has been blessed with a successful sales and recruiting career for over 27 years. After nearly 3 decades of market ups and downs, she found her learning curve had waned and was feeling less joy in her day to day life of match making. The politics of corporate life got more complex. The clients she was working with seemed to also be asking, "is this all I am meant to do?" She wanted to offer more than just a job. Lisa took the advice she had given countless others and went on a journey to find HER passion and what she would do next in life. Through that journey Lisa entered the world of business builders and entrepreneurs. Lisa has taken the skills she mastered in corporate America and has shifted to helping others find their true passion and business pursuit. One of Lisa's passion is financial education and that topic and business will always be at the core of everything she teaches. Financial wellness is key to success in any business. It also happens to be the most lucrative business in the world in a time where the demand is at the highest and supply is at the lowest. On a personal note, Lisa is an Alaska girl born and raised, married with three kids, is a life-long learner, loves to travel, and sings in a praise band. Those that know Lisa remember a time she helped them and would agree that Lisa's faith is the biggest part of her life. One of her “whys” is that her children will never have an employee mindset, will be life-long learners and continue to find the next version of themselves. The mission at Lisa Williams Co is to bring joy and passion to people's lives through the principles of business building and entrepreneurship. The pillars of her company are faith, family, finance and “Filanthropy”! The “why” behind Lisa's own shift is simple. She was living life less than she knew she was capable of living. She was meant to use her gifts to help others discover theirs. The firm is dedicated to the memory of Lisa's mom Sue Wiese and her dearest friend Elizabeth Meier. She lost both of them to a horrible battle to cancer in the span of 10 months. These were two of the most inspiring and God loving women on the planet. They lived their lives with purpose, a heart for serving others and were lifelong learners until the day they went to heaven. From Lisa: “I won't know until I am up there with them why they are no longer with us, but I will make sure that I live the rest of my life with intention, purpose and discovery. I will grow into the women I was meant to become and my prayer is that our company can help others do the same!
