Niching down, the power of a simple sales funnel, and preventing burnout with Johnny Brunet. ----- Welcome to episode 539 of The Food Blogger Pro Podcast! This week on the podcast, Bjork interviews Johnny Brunet. The Journey to $100k as a Content Creator with Johnny Brunet Johnny Brunet's story is proof that a pandemic pivot can lead to major success! He went from stand-up comedy to mastering the Blackstone griddle, finding his sweet spot by creating content specifically for beginner cooks. He shares the secret sauce of his content empire: how he strategically focused on one niche tool to stand out and why targeting the starting-out crowd was the perfect gap in the market for massive growth. Beyond the cooking, Johnny gets real about the business, breaking down his successful revenue mix of YouTube AdSense, eBooks, and affiliate marketing. You'll get his best advice on keeping your sales funnel incredibly simple and the importance of smart content marketing to drive product sales. This episode will give you the blueprint for turning a niche idea into a full-time income without spreading yourself thin. Three episode takeaways: The power of niching down: Johnny's big pivot from comedy during COVID shows that sometimes you have to roll with life's changes! He found massive success by niching down to a specific tool (hello, Blackstone griddle!) and focusing on beginner cooks, proving there's gold in filling those market gaps. The simple sales funnel is your friend: Believe it or not, you don't need a crazy-complicated setup to make money! Johnny broke down his successful monetization mix of YouTube AdSense, eBooks, and affiliate marketing, emphasizing how a simple sales funnel and smart content marketing are key to actually moving those products. Don't spread yourself too thin: If you're creating content, take a note from Johnny: don't try to be everywhere at once. He recommends focusing on one type of content and, even better, just documenting your own learning process. It keeps you from spreading yourself too thin and is a great way to keep your audience engaged! Resources: Johnny's food blog: Johnny Brunet Be sure to check out Johnny's e-book, Griddle 101! THE GOOD CITIZEN—This episode is a special one for us here at Magazeum. We even gave it its own code name: “Project Rosebud” (IYKYK). But if you only know our guest as the grandson of the man who inspired the lead character in the film classic Citizen Kane and the founder of one of the largest publishing empires in the world, you are missing out. Will Hearst could have done the easy thing, but he chose not to. As the current chairman of the Hearst Corporation, Will balances stewardship of a sprawling media empire with a commitment to community and lasting value. Unlike the new breed of media moguls, his leadership is less about compliance and more about the continuing importance of fostering quality journalism rooted in place and purpose. But aside from his role as a suit at the Hearst Corporation, Will's labor of love is Alta—an indie quarterly that champions a distinct West Coast voice, providing a vital counterpoint to the East Coast lens that still dominates the national discourse.Alta is crafted to be held and savored—he thinks of its subscribers as members more than a mailing list. In an age dominated by volume, speed, and algorithms, Will Hearst would like to remind us to slow down, listen deeply, and consume wisely. In times like these, his vision seems almost Quixotic—to see media as craft, culture as inheritance, and storytelling as something lasting. Nevertheless, he continues to charge, shaping a legacy both ancient and urgently new.—This episode is made possible by our friends at Commercial Type and Freeport Press. She shares actionable tips to avoid legal risks, explains the impact of AI on content, and introduces her Brandingo app for secure brand engagement. Essential listening for anyone in content creation, digital marketing, or brand management. "If you are broadcasting in any forum, you know, Facebook streaming, whatever, that then becomes a commercial, so to speak. So when you go from a personal use... to posting it on different social media sites, then you become a commercial use. And so those music pieces that are going to be heard, do they carry forth, you know, so now you're infringing on those copyrights.4It's going to be a burgeoning litigation field, I believe, because [AI is] completely vacuuming up all copyrights, all trademarks. And then it's morphing those into new products, new designs." - Stephanie Weier KEY TAKEAWAYS -Learn best practices for music licensing -Latest definitions of fair use -How to protect your company from liability and protect your content -Uses of logos and artwork -More insights for influencers, content creators on actionable legal insights and SEO tips to protect intellectual property Connect with Stephanie Weier www.Brandwoodglobal.com https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephanieweier/https://www.facebook.com/stephanie.weier.14 Connect with Manage Smarter and its hosts!!!!· Website: https://salesfuel.com/manage-smarter/· LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/audreystrong/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/cleesmith/ TWITTER/X Audrey https://x.com/tallmediamaven Lee https://x.com/cleesmith Connect with SalesFuel· Website: https://salesfuel.com/· Twitter: https://x.com/SalesFuel· Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/salesfuel/ #internetinfluencer #socialmedia #socialmediainfluencer #tiktokinfluencer #youtubeinfluencer #facebookinfluencer #snapchatinfluencer #legal #AI #fairuse #intellectualproperty #Brandingo #Brandingoapp #BrandwoodGlobal #stephanieweier #copyrights #trademarks #law #video #audio #logo Learn more about your ad choices. Send us a textIn a world where algorithms dictate what we see and opinions flood every corner of the internet, authenticity can feel like an uphill battle. In this episode of Thoughts of a Dreamer, I dig into what it costs when we trade our true voice for popularity, approval, or fleeting trends. I share my own story of bending to feedback, chasing what “works,” and burning out—only to realize that being authentic is the only way to build something real and lasting. What you'll hear:Why your “one of one” uniqueness is irreplaceableHow chasing trends and public perception can erase your original visionThe difference between sustainable authenticity and quick winsWhy staying rooted in your own stripes creates the connection no algorithm can replicateBecause algorithms shift. Opinions change. But authenticity? That's what keeps people coming back.Remember, you're one of one... and nobody can do it like you!

THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT—While it's not true that kids don't read, it may be true that adults aren't teaching kids to read. It's also true that today's children face issues that those of the past didn't. And the pandemic—there's that word again—impacted everyone in ways we're still figuring out, including kids. Perhaps especially kids. There are, amazingly, and encouragingly, many new magazines for children of all ages now. One of them is Anyway, a magazine for tweens founded by two mothers—and long-time friends—who grew up loving magazines and, yes, were worried about their kids' screen time. They also knew that tween issues weren't being addressed properly and that a root cause of some of them was a media landscape that pushed consumers, no matter the age, into silos—or communities—where they could go through life unchallenged.Go to the Anyway website and you are confronted with the slogan: “Growing up is hard. You can do it Anyway.“ This speaks to both kids and parents, another reality of a kids magazine that most magazines don't have to face: you have two very specific markets—kids and their parents—and your readership will eventually age out. Meaning the marketing challenges never end even while reader loyalty does. What does that mean for a media brand?—This episode is made possible by our friends at Freeport Press. Bob Papa doesn't like Giants fan and ‘content creator' Bobby Skinner having an opinion since he doesn't go in the locker room or attend press conferences.
Today may be the day the Giants make the announcement that Jaxson Dart is starting Sunday against the Chargers. We talked about quarterbacks that were really good as rookies, like CJ Stroud, and then things may not be the same the next season. Jayden Daniels already missed a start with an injury last week. Boomer talked about the importance of where players go. Tampa seems to be the perfect place for Baker Mayfield. Indianapolis seems to be the perfect place for Daniel Jones. A caller wonders why we think it will be better with Jaxson Dart. There's only one way to turn a dead team into one that's alive and that's a young quarterback. Gio wants to go to the Ryder Cup, but he said it seems like an absolute disaster to get in and out of there. A caller debates Gio on whether Juan Soto is a real ‘needle mover'. Jerry returns for an update, but first we talked about some teams being desperate for a QB, and maybe Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston could go to the Bengals if the Giants go to Jaxson Dart. Jerry starts with the Lions beating the Ravens and we heard from Dan Campbell after the game. The Lions sacked Lamar Jackson seven times. Brian Daboll was asked why the passing game was so terrible. Adam Schein talked about Jordan Love's highs and lows. Deion Sanders was on the New Heights podcast and asked about the spelling of his name. He got it from ‘Old MacDonald'. In the final segment of the hour, Bob Papa doesn't like Giants fan and ‘content creator' Bobby Skinner having an opinion since he doesn't go in the locker room or attend press conferences.
