In the second and final part of our look-forward at the year ahead, activist, author, and humanitarian Caryl Stern hosts discussions with a few of the company's thought leaders to uncover how the firm integrates purpose into the fabric of our decision-making. First up, Rosie Kurmaniak details the cyclical nature of M&A, and how that is manifesting itself in the firm's business; then, Avi Sutton discusses the importance of flow - as referenced in his recent letter with colleague Alex Michael - and the attributes necessary to obtain that friction-less state; and finally, firm leader/new mom Aviva Roumani and Caryl's “Listen on Purpose” co-host Rachel Kraus outline how they're fostering healing conversations in the face of global political turbulence as well as ongoing changes in the business environment. The pair chat about the opportunities and dangers of integrating AI into the media industry; AI's role in the recently resolved WGA strike (as well as the ongoing SAG work stoppage); how media studios are approaching the AI boom; the evolution of the streaming business model; and what it takes to create powerful stories.Find and rate KindredCast on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen. On today’s episode we have the founder of For Those Who Sin, Alex Michael Miller. I first learned about For Those Who Sin through social media after some of Alex’s custom pieces caught my attention. After digging a little bit deeper I learned that Alex is the creative mastermind behind the brand and has used his art pedigree to differentiate the brand in a way that is authentically true to who Alex is as a person. It’s a true underdog story, as a kid from Texas and later living in Ohio he took a leap of faith by flying to LA to land a non paid internship. There he couch surfed and soaked up knowledge like a sponge until he was ready to spread his wings as an entrepreneur. Once he realized a 9-5 wasn’t for him he jumped ship and went all in on his art and business.
Alex started lifting weights as soon as he left high school after suffering from bullying. He wanted to build a strong and healthy physique as he weighed a total of 112 lbs. He didn’t want to be the guy being picked on anymore. Alex recalls, “I did not want to be the skinny kid anymore, so I progressed quickly in the gym and increased my knowledge of fitness daily.” After one year of hard training, his weight jumped up by 26lbs and managed to maintain a low body fat percentage no higher than 5%. In total, after a sold years training, he built a lean physique of 196lbs. From that point onwards, Alex has become a highly recognized fitness model and bodybuilder. He continues to motivate and inspire people all over the world while working as a personal trainer. In this episode of Barbell Shrugged, the guys take a loom inside the world of SHREDZ, the bodybuilding world, and supplement industry exposing what is real, fake, and really fake in the supplement industry. In this episode of Barbell Shrugged, Anders Varner and Doug Larson discuss: What led Turner to the gym. How bullying fueled his passion for the weights. Being broke and selling supplements Overcoming poverty and the rise of social media for his career. Alex Michael May is a speaker, writer, and creative director. She’s a style, travel, and beauty expert. And according to Instagram, she’s also your virtual bff. Alex seems to do just about anything, and if she hasn't done it yet I can guarantee you she’ll be doing it soon. I would describe Alex as honest and bold. But that doesn't mean that her confidence was always through the roof. In fact it wasn't until just recently that Alex has started to own the things that she wasn't always that confident about. In doing that she started to discover that the things she was worried about were some of her biggest attributes. Alex is a believes in a greater power, something bigger than ourselves. A force that drives us to be what we are destined to be. Knowing that gives her the freedom to be herself and trust in the process. A process that started a long time ago but continuously adds to her skill set and ability. The snowball effect has worked wonders in Alex’s life. Growing bigger and bigger even if the path was never completely clear. But the snowball eventually created it’s own natural path and Alex has found herself in a place that couldn't be more perfect. It’s an incredible lesson in trusting that if we work hard we’ll get to where we’re meant to be. What has finally brought you to a place of self confidence? How do you get over failure? Was there a point that everything came together and you realized your path?
