In this episode, we discuss how yoga can be a powerful tool for nervous system regulation, particularly for therapists and their clients dealing with trauma and anxiety. Amanda, a mental health therapist and yoga instructor, shares her journey into yoga and offers practical insights into bringing yoga into the therapy room. She highlights the importance of an intuitive approach and provides a hands-on yoga practice to help you experience the benefits firsthand. Amanda also discusses the integration of various therapeutic theories with yoga, emphasizing the role of self-care and the therapist's own nervous system regulation. MEET Amanda BakerAmanda believes that we are more authentic as our child-like selves than we are as an adult. We are more likely to share our truth and live our truth as children, but who says we have to stop? Amanda is a mental health therapist, 500hr yoga instructor, and poet. She integrates mental health, yoga, creativity, and writing into her work and daily life. Amanda has worked in the clinical field of social work for over 10 years and in the last five she has utilized yoga psychology as a framework for treating mental health diagnoses, symptoms, and mind-body restoration. Amanda came back to her child-like passions just before the pandemic as she embarked on basic yoga teaching training and writing poetry daily. She loved music, dance, and writing as a kid. In coming back to self with her interests she stumbled on the healing benefits of these inner resources in self. Your mind, your body, and your heart. Amanda offers therapeutic yoga workshops, classes, and one-on-one therapy in Baltimore, MD. She also has two published poetry books, entitled ASK: A Collection of Poetry, Lyrics, and Words as well as "What Is Another Word for Intimacy" which can be found on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Yellow Arrow Publishing. Click here for Joe's Book   5 Powerful Signs You're A White Witch 1. You transmute emotions and experiences into massive energy that creates change. Your energy is so uncontainable, it's a bit dangerous. Both your positive and negative emotions have the ability to affect others around you, creating massive social change as well as individual change. You can channel your experiences in such a way that it serves you and those of others, transforming traumas into miracles and fears into alchemy. You can move people to tears, uplift someone's spirits and provide healing encouragement as much as you can strike down a malicious person with the destructive force of your anger which is akin to thunder. 2. Your connection to nature is unparalleled. You are literally “one” with nature, its elements, the earth and its seasons. In fall and winter, you shed old beliefs, toxic relationships, and destructive patterns. In spring, you come alive again and feel the rebirth of your psyche. 3. Your magic, intentions and rituals always have some sort of powerful effect. You're capable of massive manifestation. What you desire, so long as it serves your greater purpose, usually always comes to fruition. Whether you engage in prayer, spellwork, meditation – whatever form your unique form of magic takes – you have the power to create new opportunities for yourself wherever you go. 4. Your ability to manifest and your natural confidence is astounding. As a result, you might be intimidating to others. Even if you're the sweetest little white witch around, you will make people nervous because you threaten every limiting belief about human power. And because you're so grounded in your ability to change yourself, your life and the world, you challenge everyone around you to see their own divinity (something not everyone is willing to do). 5. You are a healer and your words hold massive power – so use them wisely. As the great (albeit fictional) Albus Dumbledore once noted, “Words are an inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury, and remedying it.” And indeed, your words could create new worlds if you willed them to. Be careful as a white witch what you say, because your words are a powerful outlet and source of creation, even if you don't recognize it.

For 37 consecutive years, Wright State’s Model United Nations team has earned a delegation award at the national conference in New York City. The university’s latest delegation award came in March, when the team was tasked with the challenge of representing the Islamic Republic of Iran at the 2016 National Model United Nations Conference. Wright State students also consistently receive Outstanding Position Paper awards at the conference. The Model UN is a conference similar to that of the United Nations in which students participate as delegates to various UN committees. The participants research and formulate political positions based on the actual policies of the countries they represent. At Wright State, preparation for the conference involves more than just writing papers and learning a country’s national policy. Delegates are taught how to implement a country’s policy, how to dress, how to act in committee and what to expect from other countries they will work with in committee. The team’s faculty advisers are Vaughn Shannon, associate professor of political science, and Liam Anderson, professor of political science. The 2016 team included head delegates Angie Loyd and Garrett Teets and members Eric Allen, Amanda Baker, Paige Bokman, Crystal Burns, Katie Chaney, Allyson Clark, Elizabeth Crisler, Mike Gross, Samantha Hall, Caroline Hoffman, Jessica Loving, Amani Massey, Dan Palmer, Cody Smith and Ummey Tabassum.
