Decision fatigue isn't about willpower - it's about how many decisions you're being asked to make when your capacity is already maxed out. And if you've been caught in the diet cycle for years (or decades), you know exactly what I'm talking about. After 25 different diet plans competing for space in your head, every meal becomes another minefield of "am I doing this right?" questions that leave you exhausted before you even start cooking. In this solo episode, I'm sharing Sarah's story (with her permission), who spent the last year working with me to finally break free from diet mentality and decision fatigue. She's having regular, balanced meals without stress, her cholesterol and blood pressure are down, and for the first time ever, she didn't spiral in the bathing suit change room.I walk you through exactly how we got there, including the biological layer that makes decision fatigue even more challenging in midlife when brain fog, and hormone fluctuations that are all competing for your mental bandwidth. But here's the good news: there are gentle framework strategies that can actually reduce the number of decisions you have to make, help you enjoy the process (not just chase the outcome), and keep you moving forward at your own pace.In this episode, you'll learn:Why decision fatigue is structural, not a character flaw, and why women in midlife are especially vulnerableThe biological layer: how brain fog and cognitive changes in menopause make familiar diet patterns even more temptingThree framework strategies to reduce decision fatigue around food (and why frameworks are NOT the same as rules)How the FEAST framework works in my community to support long-term behavior change without the all-or-nothing trapWhy enjoying the process matters more than rushing to the outcomeRelated Episodes:Rewiring, Not Retiring: How Your Brain Transforms in Menopause with Dr. Sarah McKay Beating the Brain Fog of MenopauseFrom Panic to Peace: Melissa's Food Freedom JourneyReady to reduce your decision fatigue? kim's story is a full-body exhale for anyone who still thinks carbs = chaos. from fearing fruit to fueling with sourdough and building actual muscle definition, she learned the hard way what most women never get taught: carbs aren't earned, they're essential. years of diet culture made her world smaller—and how lifting, smart fueling, and brick-by-brick consistency rebuilt her body and her mindset.take one minute and voice note how you talk about your body—then listen back. what version of you is driving?this episode dives into the psychological load of dieting—the guilt, the fear of more food, the way restriction becomes your identity. kim opens up about the mindset spiral that came with under-eating and the physical transformation that followed when she finally gave herself permission to fuel, train, and enjoy the process.what if the fat‑loss plateau, the cranky afternoon slump, and that nagging scale‑stall all share one root cause—chronic under‑fueling? in this episode i sit down with kim, a former carb‑phobe (who has type‑1 diabetes) turned diet fatigue into a deadlift party. we rip apart the rules that kept her living on chicken, broccoli, and boredom, and show you how timing carbs around strength sessions can flatten insulin spikes, spike confidence, and finally shrink measurements you care about—jeans, not kilos.we unpack why the scale sabotages motivation, how progress photos can freeze you in perfectionism, and why “stage‑lean” bodies are a metabolic bait‑and‑switch. expect real talk, eye‑roll moments at diet culture, and practical swaps you can steal today: think pre‑lift toast + honey, post‑lift rice + chicken, plus a mindset reframe that turns missed workouts into single bricks—not house fires.if you've ever counted grapes, feared fruit, or apologised for bread, this convo is your permission slip. kim and i dissect the myths that made her world smaller—“carbs store fat,” “keto cures everything,” “cardio is queen”—and rebuild a plan that lets her travel greece guilt‑free, lift heavier every quarter, and drop insulin units while eating sourdough. we cover the brick‑by‑brick method to sustainable recomposition, stress as the silent macro killing progress, and why pumping iron trumps pounding treadmills for anyone over thirty‑five who's tired of feeling soft.win # 1: set a five‑minute timer and list yesterday's meals—notice how low the carbs actually were.win #2: grab a pen and list every food you've felt guilty for eating—then draw a line through the carb-based ones.win #3: after listening, choose one lift you'll measure this week instead of your weight—tag me with the number.want to share your own carb‑comeback story—or need help writing yours? dm me or hit the consult link below. let's chat.find me @transformxruby on instagramapply for a free consult:https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfqaxMDfbPYPYVui3BgSClnDXTj4BWjRvPkbBHuK5CP7SQsIw/viewform?usp=sf_linkdirect link to dm me on ig: https://ig.me/m/transformxruby

Let's face it - most women struggle with their weight and we've been programmed to think it's harder to get the weight off after a certain age so the process can feel hopeless. But what if there are clues as to why the weight is hanging around that lie in your relationship with food? In this episode, Ashley Fillmore and Dr. Jannine Krause dive into why declining estrogen can trigger carb cravings and binges that may be new behavior for women over 40, or why it brings up old habits you thought you'd let go of. We discuss the frustrating cycle of binge, detox, diet and repeat - failure after failure. We explore food shame and why we keep repeating habits like diving into chips or finding ourselves with chocolate and peanut butter at certain times of the day.

Send us a textDr. Derek Alessi shares his journey from obese teenager to fitness expert, revealing sustainable strategies for long-term health transformation through consistent habits and practical nutrition.• Extreme diet approaches like keto fail because they're too advanced for most people's skill level – the average person only lasts 11 days• Small, consistent wins build momentum better than waiting for major milestones – success starts with making better choices daily• Strength training naturally improves sleep quality as the body increases deep sleep to release growth hormone for muscle repair• Quality of sleep matters more than quantity – most adults get less than 30% deep sleep when we need 50% for optimal recovery• The 10,000 steps myth originated from a Japanese pedometer company name, not from scientific research• Mindset is the foundation of all health changes – believing in yourself must come before strategic changesIt's never too late to improve your muscle tissue, nutrition, and lifestyle. In this episode, Ruby Cherie dives deep into the mindset shifts and practical strategies that help women break free from diet culture, self-sabotage, and generational body image struggles. Tune in to learn how to align your goals with what truly matters, overcome diet fatigue, and stop chasing quick fixes. It's time to build the body you love while feeling strong, confident, and unstoppable. Ruby discusses her own fear of seeing the scale rise and how it hindered her progress. Her coach's advice to increase carb intake helped her break free from this mindset. Many women face similar struggles, and educating them about glycogen, water retention, and muscle gain as temporary factors can build trust in the process. 1. Building Confidence Through Performance: Ruby shares a client story of focusing on improving form and movement rather than external measures like the scale. This shift led to noticeable physical changes. 2. The Value of Coaching: Ruby highlights that while many people "know" what to do, implementing it is another challenge. Having a coach provides accountability, personalized strategies, and emotional support, which are often critical to long-term success. 4. Diet Fatigue and Misaligned Expectations: Ruby addresses how constant dieting without breaks leads to "diet fatigue," making it harder to achieve goals. She emphasizes the importance of maintenance phases, which many overlook. This reflects the need to educate clients on periodized nutrition and why constant fat loss isn't sustainable. 5. The Allure of Extreme Transformations: Transformation photos often set unrealistic expectations, neglecting the nuances of those journeys, such as time, effort, and sustainability. Ruby advises against comparing oneself to these images, which often mask unhealthy practices. Instead, she advocates for celebrating incremental, realistic progress. 6. Self-Sabotage as a Symptom, Not a Problem: Ruby reframes self-sabotage as a symptom of unmet core needs, such as feeling good physically and emotionally. Addressing these foundational needs prevents cycles of self-doubt and impulsive behaviors. Coaches can help clients identify these needs through reflective questioning. 7. Raising the "Floor" of Bad Days: Ruby suggests that minimizing the impact of "bad days" by improving habits over time leads to sustainable progress. This concept resonates with building resilience and reducing the severity of setbacks. focus on small, manageable changes during challenging times. 8. Understanding Fat Loss is Hard Work: Ruby emphasizes that fat loss requires effort and is not easy, but it should also be smart work. Aligning effort with effective strategies is key. This underscores the importance of planning and personalizing approaches to align with clients' unique needs. 9. Muscle as the Key to Body Shape: Ruby explains that muscle gives the body shape, while fat loss reveals it. Women often overlook this, leading to dissatisfaction even after weight loss. Coaches can reinforce the value of muscle-building phases to achieve the aesthetic many clients desire. 10. Maintenance Over Perfection: Maintenance is easier than constant dieting, yet many people lack the skills to sustain it. Ruby advocates for teaching maintenance strategies early in the coaching process to help clients feel empowered and confident in their long-term journey. 11. The Misunderstanding of Training and Eating for Goals: Ruby stresses that most women don't train or eat adequately to achieve their goals, especially when it comes to building muscle or reducing fat. Educating clients on optimal training techniques (e.g., hamstring training) and nutrition is essential for bridging this gap. 12. Evolving Goals and Self-Awareness: Many people fail to adjust their goals as they evolve, leading to frustration and self-sabotage. Ruby encourages regular reflection to align current efforts with desired outcomes. Coaches can facilitate this by revisiting clients' goals during check-ins.

You're not alone—Brooke breaks down why most diets set you up to fail, the mindset shifts you need to escape the cycle, and the real reason so many people “plan to fix it later” (spoiler: later usually never comes). We're covering: • Why rules are ruining your progress—and how to start using the right tools instead • The BS health trends people obsess over that actually hold them back • What most people don't realize about aging—until it's too late • Strength training for longevity, independence, and a body that actually works for you • A no-BS reality check for anyone making excuses and waiting for the “perfect time” to start If you're tired of starting over, feeling stuck, or falling for diet myths, this episode is your wake-up call. New Year, Same You Ditch the January Diet Cycle - Weight Loss for Women Over 40 In this episode of Weight Loss for Women Over 40, Nikki T dives into the January diet cycle—the familiar pattern of overindulging in December, feeling guilty in January, and making extreme resolutions that often fizzle out by February. With the new year just around the corner, many of us are already setting weight loss goals. But while weight loss is a common resolution, the majority of people who embark on diet plans will find that they struggle to maintain the progress they make. In this episode, we explore two of the most important factors behind this high failure rate: mindset and maintenance strategy. If you've ever found yourself constantly dieting without long-term success, this episode is for you. We kick things off by addressing mindset. Wanting to lose weight is not inherently bad, but when weight loss becomes your only goal, it can set you up for failure. The key is shifting your focus from short-term weight loss to building a healthier lifestyle. This episode dives into how this shift in mindset can make a huge difference in your health journey, helping you focus on long-lasting habits rather than chasing quick results. The second critical point is your maintenance strategy. While many people understand that creating a calorie deficit is essential for weight loss, they often overlook how to maintain that weight loss. After you've reached your goal weight, your diet strategy needs to shift. We discuss metabolic adaptation and the importance of reverse dieting - a crucial step that many diets leave out. Reverse dieting helps your metabolism adjust to higher calorie intake, ensuring you can maintain your weight loss without feeling deprived or fatigued. To wrap up, we talk about how you can break free from the endless cycle of dieting, maintain your weight loss, and live a healthier lifestyle long-term. I used to struggle with weight loss and would constantly go back to cutting carbs, thinking the issue was with my willpower or genetics. But I eventually realized that my approach was the problem and that I needed to change my mindset and mentality to see lasting results. I learned that managing my weight was my responsibility and that it involved more than just food and exercise. I had to find the root cause of my weight issues and work on fixing it, whether that meant acquiring new skills, making emotional changes, or something else. I set a goal to become good at managing my weight and made a plan to achieve this goal through sustainable changes, tracking my progress, and setting achievable goals. Today, I am happy to say that I have been able to maintain my weight loss and live my life the same way as when I was losing weight. By developing weight management principles and skills, I am now able to stay at my goal weight and feel confident and empowered. The process of slow and steady weight loss can be incredibly rewarding, but it won't work if you limit yourself with excuses. — Additional Support My FREE Facebook Group: The CTC Weight Loss Support Group Join my paid community, the Guild of Champions: Click here to learn more __ 3 ways to support the show Support the show directly: Buy Me a Coffee Share your favorite episode on social media.
