In today's episode, our guest is Anna Lozana. She is a multifaceted entrepreneur who thrives on adventure, creation, and service. She is also the co-founder of Love Powered Co, an affirmation company that brings mindfulness, connection, and gratitude to women and families around the world.    [4:38] Why should I listen to you?  Well, we are all energy, and at that moment, my inspiration to speak to you was clearly because I felt your energy. Also, for you to have turned around, that means you must have felt my energy, and through that, we can become an energetic match for an authentic, activated conversation.    [6:38] How should somebody approach their thought process about themselves and their expression to the world?  There are so many brands that have been created, especially in the online space, which makes it feel saturated, and more people are being called out to step into their most authentic selves and show up unapologetically. More people are trying to show up in their fullest expression because that is the true energy of their brand, so if you're trying to be like someone else, there is going to be a mismatch and you'll be unable to magnetize clients that are meant to be in your world. It's just so cool because we are being called to be ourselves and scale our brands in that way.  [7:58] What does it mean to operate as your authentic self, and what do you think stifles that for people?  I grew up in East London, Ontario, Canada, and I always claim to be like Anna from the blog, which I have hidden for a very long time. I remember vividly that when I was in sixth grade, brands like guest brands and clothing brands started popping up. I was shopping at Goodwill at the used clothing stores, and I started to surpass who I was to fit in. I remember launching into the entrepreneurial space 13 years ago and during those times, I was a person behind closed doors and sometimes I wasn't [9:45] Why do some people not feel compelled to express who they are?  Well, it is the safety mechanism. It keeps us safe and secure, and sometimes we create this bubble of protection because we've been hurt and judged in the past. I am a mom, wife, and entrepreneur, and the more I can bring that into my personal brand, the more I will connect with my audience and the more I can show my vulnerability. It's our humanism, and it's not being on a pedestal and having perfect days; it's embracing the human aspect of us that comes with ups and downs. Sometimes we have great days and sometimes we do not, and if we can learn to show up on bad days, our audience will be able to relate to us because we are humans. [11:40] Why do we like to see people show their flaws?  Taking the lockdown into consideration, we were not around people, but now we have events, retreats, and conferences, and that's what we are craving for in a human connection. It's always a responsibility to be perfect all the time because you feel the need to dress well in a way that fits the host's brand. However, the truth is that it makes some people feel like they are not portraying who they really are. It should be about how you can lead in alignment with what feels good for you without trying to fit into somebody else's world. We are all energy and transmitting energy; our brand is transmitting energy, and our energy is boomeranging back to us with people's experiences and opportunities. The more we can be authentic, the purer our energy will become, and it will naturally magnetize everything that we desire.  [19:02] Can you compare what your brand was back then to what it is currently?  So as a natural, self-proclaimed hustler, I have never needed someone to tell me what to do or how to do it. I just figured everything out, but this is how the transition happened. About 6 years ago, when I dove into motherhood, I had both masculine energy and the ability to hold feminine conversations. I had to figure out how I could balance these two energies within me. I felt this calling as a mom to rebalance these energies. So I decided to infuse joy, pleasure, and freedom because we bring what we know into entrepreneurship.  [21:18] How did you find a solution and navigate the energetic flow?  When I became a mom, I had a little one who was 100% dependent on me, so I could no longer do things the way that I knew how to do them. I couldn't work for longer hours, I couldn't constantly show up, launch, or sell, and I became really uncomfortable. I had to sit back and ask myself what the next chapter of success looks and feels like. My capacity is much lower, and my girls are now five and seven. It's been a lot of work, but I feel like I have reached an alignment lead and opportunities are coming in all the time. So if something doesn't feel good or is not aligned, I no longer say yes. I don't even say yes because I want to please certain people or because it's going to move my business forward. I say yes when it is in alignment.  [25:02] How can someone find out what their thing should be, regardless of what the rest of the world thinks?  There are so many perspectives and opinions out there, and it's like we have this internal compass called intuition. My body speaks to me, so when I'm out of alignment or saying yes to things I shouldn't, I feel it. So right now, if you are feeling out of alignment, that is your first step to figuring out what you should do differently. We all have that choice, and that is why we become entrepreneurs to have more choices.  [40:34] What are the things you're trying to melt or emit?  Yeah, I want to bring this energy conversation to the forefront. Many women have been building and scaling businesses and showing in this evidence of success that society needs you to work like a man. So for me, I call it a calling home. It is how we can rebalance these incredible energies within us. It is how you can lean more into trust, rest more, and also bring that into marriage. For so long, I was in a masculine energy, and I had an authentic conversation with my husband. All he wanted was for me to surrender, to be in my feminine energy, and to be taken care of. Until that conversation happened, he didn't know what I wanted, and neither did I. I just knew that I wanted to have masculine energy in my business/work and feminine energy at home, which has been incredible with raising two daughters.  [44:50] What promise did God make to the world when he created you?  I will be a badass, a rebel, and an activator. And ‘What is parenthood?' In addition, she suggests we should be having these conversations, especially if you want to raise them consciously and mindfully. We think about growing businesses and we have strategies and mentors in place but we get into motherhood and it's a big transition without instructions. BEING CONNECTED TO INTUITION  “It's about being connected to intuition, getting the downloads and also being quiet enough to hear the answers. That's how I move through motherhood and business.”  All of us are intuitive beings, but with all the external noise, we don't necessarily tune into it, listen to it or pay attention to it. Anna shares that the more that we can listen to those little nudges and the more we can take that intentional inspired action, the more our life is going to flow. She is constantly connected and guided to her intuition, and taps into this energy in both motherhood and business.  WHY AFFIRMATIONS ARE IMPORTANT  “You can start affirmations at any age. It's a powerful, lifelong practice.”  Affirmations are so important. Mindfulness is so important. What you speak in your mind is what you will speak into existence. Anna talks about how affirmations have transformed her self-talk and ability to shift negative thoughts quickly. Having a physical tool, like an affirmation set, allows you to bring focused intention into the words that you're speaking out loud and into the thoughts that you're programming into your subconscious. CONSCIOUSLY MAKING CHOICES “Our subconscious mind is always working. When we are thinking our thoughts, when we are speaking our words, those are creating our reality.” Anna says that if we can consciously choose our words and thoughts, we can consciously choose our reality. Rather than having things happen on autopilot, we can catch ourselves in a negative thought and turn it into a neutral thought, and then, a positive one. This can have a transformative effect on our entire life. Wherever you are, just get started and make it a habit so that you can consciously co-create your life rather than doing it by default. Some top takeaways from today's episode: Socio-cultural conditioning often teaches us to think that self-care, self-love is not important and those who do practice this are self-centered or self-absorbed. Well, Mama, here's a reality flash: Self-love, self-care, and self-worth are basic needs for you to not only survive, but also thrive in all areas of your life. You are not being self-centered when you affirm yourself. The way you speak to yourself is so important, Mama. Self-love is the highest form of kindness and love you can give to yourself. How you love yourself sets the tone for how you love others and the love you accept. And we all know the oxygen-mask-in-an-airplane analogy: Put your own mask on first before you go to help others. The same applies to motherhood, business, and your personal life. Instilling these practices within our daily routine is powerful, it makes a difference in our life and also impacts our kiddos. How beautiful is it to set the tone and raise empowered, conscious littles who know that the key to long lasting peace, joy, and success lies within themselves -- their self-love, their self-confidence, their self-worth. Everything you encounter in your life, motherhood, and business, there is an affirmation for that. Cheeky, we know! But it's true! Words are so powerful they have the power to shift your mood, your energetic vibration, and your whole life. That being said, embrace the squiggly lines and the highs and lows, the ebbs and flows. The journey to success in all areas of your life is non linear. Luck has nothing to do with it.

Anna Lozano is a mom and serial entrepreneur! After graduating from the Richard Ivey School of Business and embarking on my career in Marketing/Sales she quickly realized she was overworked, underpaid and unfulfilled so she started looking for a solution. Funding is a common challenge for many of us, but how can platforms like Kickstarter get our products in front of people? How do we determine if there’s a market for our products? What role does storytelling play in promoting our Kickstarter campaigns? On this episode, the founders of Love Powered Co., Anna Lozano and Lindy Sood, share how they built a six-figure business by selling positive affirmation cards made for children, and they give insights on successful crowdfunding. Running a 30-day Kickstarter campaign is like running a marathon. We had to strategically map out the pre-launch, launch, and post-launch. -Anna Lozano 3 Things We Learned From This Episode More and more parents are interested in self-development (10:00-12:30)   The modern mom wants to do more than provide shelter and food for her children. There’s a demand for self-improvement materials, even for children. There’s also a large market out there for methods of instilling confidence in children from an early age because adults know difficult life can be without it.   The impact of affirmations on both parents and children (15:00-16:30)   Affirmations are beneficial for adults, too. Also, parents will often spread the word about the products they just purchased, giving added reach for your brand.   Your campaign has to have a message and a mission (18:00-19:30)   Successful Kickstarter campaigns are more about the brand message and less about the product. The first thing our audience sees is the solution we provide and how we want to make a small change around us. If we just promote a commodity, we won’t stand out. We have tell a story of how our product can improve the lives of the people who purchase it..   A Kickstarter campaign is not a sprint, but a marathon. Many of us make the mistake of just launching the product or service when we need to map out the pre-launch, the launch, and what happens after. This usually means we need to craft an entire brand message that will be sent to our audience. I knew that talking to Anna Lozano, I would learn a lot and I was very excited to ask her questions about how she built a million dollar empire in network marketing. I was excited to ask her about her new business that is truly on a world-changing mission, and I'll tell you in a second about what that is. I knew that, and the interview was so full of surprises, unexpected pearls of wisdom about what makes one woman succeed and just go vertical in network marketing — because the structures, the coaching, the support are available — while other women struggle for years or they just don't get traction, and the pain of that and the frustration of that and how to turn that around. Anna had a lot of insights to share, and because I know and she knows that network marketing is an entry point into entrepreneurship for many women, I trust that this episode will be very useful to those who are considering getting their feet wet with entrepreneurship but maybe are not ready to go full-time yet. I'm a mom to a seven year old girl, and I got this for her. [insert image of affirmation cards] You open up this gorgeous box. "What's your power?" is the question on the first card. This is a deck of cards of affirmations for little ones. What a brilliant idea. It comes with instructions, and they're just so nice, nice to the touch, and they're durable. That is important for those of us with children. "What's your power?" On the flip side the cards are all different. "Love is my power," this one says. "I'm love. I am compassionate. I'm kind. I give love. I receive love. I embody love. I am love. When did you give or receive love today? How did you feel?" I love that these affirmations are not only words, they really have instructions for embodying that feeling and they prompt children to think about how they experienced it today, and so it puts it on their radar and so the next day they're already tracking, "How can I give and receive more love?" It recalibrates their system. It becomes their new normal, and as you know this is the work that I do. Well, this is very similar to the work that I do with adults, so for me to get in touch with somebody who is doing this for children is so heartwarming as a mom. Do you think it’s important to teach our children the power of affirmation? On today’s episode of Financial Fluency, I’m excited to chat with Anna Lozano and Lindy Sood, founders of Love Powered Co.  Love Powered Littles is a different kind of card deck for parents to use with their children to affirm greatness from within. Lindy mentions on the show that both her and Anna had been on a separate (but simultaneous) road to self-discovery for quite some time. Once they both had children of their own, both women wanted to bring the practice of self-assured affirmation to their kids. Lindy and Anna mention the most compelling quality of their affirmation cards is what’s happening behind the scenes—the messages are being reprogrammed on a conscious and subconscious level with children, so they connect what they’re saying and doing. The idea started with their own children. Anna and Lindy had their routine they’d do with their kids before bed, and it included repeatedly saying affirmations and thanking for their blessings. But the women realized that their children didn’t know what the words meant, and that’s when the lightbulb clicked—using a vocabulary children identify with -  adorable characters to make the experience fun and relatable. The POWERS we all have within us, that at times, we just need to be reminded of. Connection. Focus on the power of CONNECTION between parent and child. Leave the screen at the door, this is a time to be present, engaged and wholeheartedly connected. Conscious Awareness. Instead of 1 affirmation per card, they have grouped together 3 related terms + a statement to help our littles grasp the meaning of the words and how they all relate to each other. Examples & Feelings. Parents and children think of examples and 'times when', going even deeper and asking “How did this make you feel?” By connecting their own experiences to each POWER, and remembering how they felt, it helps our children to understand the words and statements they are saying, and connect deeper to the meaning behind them.
