Champions League top eight qualification and the gap to the Premier League leaders down to four points... You'd have to say that's a pretty good week for Manchester City, all told. David Mooney is joined by Joe Butterfield from The City Ramble and Adam Carter from StatCity.co.uk to discuss the wins over Wolves and Galatasaray. That being said, there's a couple of bogey teams up next in the league at a pair of grounds that are, frankly, cursed when City go to visit... Arsenal suffered a dramatic 3–2 loss to Manchester United at the Emirates which raised serious questions about their title credentials. With Manchester City and Aston Villa both winning, Arsenal's lead at the top is now at just four points. Did Arsenal self-destruct in the second half? And with Pep Guardiola's City lurking, what does this mean for the title race?Tottenham's struggles continued with a 2–2 draw away at Burnley, leaving them just eight points above the relegation zone. Are Spurs genuinely in a relegation battle, and with pressure mounting on Thomas Frank, is he running out of time?Last week whilst on Champions League commentary, Theo Walcott asked Wayne Rooney whether the Man United 07/08 side could take on this season's Arsenal side which Rooney replied with no hesitation: ‘we'd batter them.' The boys compare both sides to ask if Wayne Rooney was right?Adam and Buvey are joined by Miles and Jordy to break it all down in the latest episode of The Club.
It's neck and neck at the top of La Liga as Real Madrid kept up the pressure on leaders Barcelona with a 2-0 win away at third placed Villarreal while Barca put last week's slip up behind them with a 3-0 win over Real Oviedo at the Camp Nou. Gary and Alex look at another two goals for the rampant Kylian Mbappe, including a panenka penalty he awkwardly dedicated to teammate Brahim Diaz, and there's an absolute stunner from Lamine Yamal to enjoy too. It's transfer season and rumours have begun to swirl over Trent Alexander-Arnold's future at Real Madrid, with some reports suggesting he could be on the way out in the summer. Gary and Alex look at the England international's difficult first six months in Madrid and assess his chances of turning his fortunes around as we approach the world cup. There's more transfer talk on the other half of Madrid with Atletico's Julian Alvarez linked with a return to the Premier League in what would be a sensational January move to Arsenal. Diego Simeone has publicly backed the underperforming former Man City man but could the move be the thing that would finally get the Gunners over the line in their quest to win the Premier League title? On the review of the weekend football Suj and James reflect on yet another Gameweek where FPL points were hard to find and it all began before deadline with leaks that Erling Haaland and Phil Foden would not start for Manchester City. Trouble was, that for those who has the info, a change in captaincy didn't necessarily bring reward. So, with Mo Salah back, is dropping Haaland a genuine consideration? Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Chelsea all won and will have interest in their assets, and so too will Manchester United assets following their win at league leaders Arsenal. There was more frustration for James as Tottenham failed to win (and nearly lost at Burnley), but Suj's West Ham did make it back to back wins, trouble was Nottingham Forest one too. All the games and all the key FPL talking points covered.
