Previously, on the Body of Evidence: Jonathan asked Chris to rank medical specialties from super-amazing to garbage! As Chris finds himself lounging on a beach in Greece, we release the conclusion to this special episode. You will learn so much about pathology, cardiology and other specialties, and you will finally hear which branches of medicine Chris thinks are GARBAGE! (sort of… for him… ‘cause he doesn't like them… but we need doctors to do those things so….) * Theme music: “Fall of the Ocean Queen“ by Joseph Hackl. Things get turned inside out this week as we talk bassist to bassist with Chris Kael of Five Finger Death Punch. As Chris prepares to get back on the road with the band, we take a look back at how he broke into the industry and chat about what he's done in his downtime during the pandemic (hint: he recorded an album, and right now there's only one way to hear it….) We sample Chris' Impale'd Ale & Root Beer'd as he opens up about sobriety and how he uses his beer sales to help those battling addiction. Chris also shares a story about why he almost never made it home from Vinnie Paul's house one sunny day. We find out how close Chris was to actually giving up on his musical career before joining Death Punch, and why it sometimes pays off big to slide into someone's DMs. Chris talks about his experience of hand delivering bass guitars to fans, and why it's been a longer than expected process. We get introspective & retrospective on our lives, and why it's important to appreciate the journey over the destination. We give Blabbermouth some good one liners to use as headlines, talk about the newfound synchrony in the 5FDP camp, why Kiss Alive II is so special to Chris, and so much more! Chris Olah has had a fascinating and unconventional career path. Most people who want to pursue a research career feel they need a degree to get taken seriously. But Chris not only doesn't have a PhD, but doesn't even have an undergraduate degree. After dropping out of university to help defend an acquaintance who was facing bogus criminal charges, Chris started independently working on machine learning research, and eventually got an internship at Google Brain, a leading AI research group. In this interview - a follow-up to our episode on his technical work - we discuss what, if anything, can be learned from his unusual career path. Should more people pass on university and just throw themselves at solving a problem they care about? Or would it be foolhardy for others to try to copy a unique case like Chris'? Links to learn more, summary and full transcript. We also cover some of Chris' personal passions over the years, including his attempts to reduce what he calls 'research debt' by starting a new academic journal called Distill, focused just on explaining existing results unusually clearly. As Chris explains, as fields develop they accumulate huge bodies of knowledge that researchers are meant to be familiar with before they start contributing themselves. But the weight of that existing knowledge ? and the need to keep up with what everyone else is doing - can become crushing. It can take someone until their 30s or later to earn their stripes, and sometimes a field will split in two just to make it possible for anyone to stay on top of it. If that were unavoidable it would be one thing, but Chris thinks we're nowhere near communicating existing knowledge as well as we could. Incrementally improving an explanation of a technical idea might take a single author weeks to do, but could go on to save a day for thousands, tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands of students, if it becomes the best option available. Despite that, academics have little incentive to produce outstanding explanations of complex ideas that can speed up the education of everyone coming up in their field. And some even see the process of deciphering bad explanations as a desirable right of passage all should pass through, just as they did. So Chris tried his hand at chipping away at this problem - but concluded the nature of the problem wasn't quite what he originally thought. In this conversation we talk about that, as well as: * Why highly thoughtful cold emails can be surprisingly effective, but average cold emails do little * Strategies for growing as a researcher * Thinking about research as a market * How Chris thinks about writing outstanding explanations * The concept of 'micromarriages' and ?microbestfriendships? * And much more. Chris Stirewalt is back on The Remnant to discuss how we can make politics boring again. As Chris observes, we've entered a “wilderness of grifts,” where opportunistic nationalism and Lincoln Project-style chicanery are all the rage. Meanwhile, a new group is trying to turn Joe Biden into FDR, factions on the right are embracing the progressive vision of government, and rage clicks are poisoning the political well. What can we learn from Lincoln in this bizarre moment? How do Americans really feel about abortion? And will Chris finally make a pious man out of Jonah? In this episode, Chris Dickerson, the Director of Digital at Verde Brand Communications joins me to talk about creating a go-to-market strategy. One of the first questions Chris recommends asking is: "what is the value to the consumer?" Combine that with your brand goals and you have your north star. Every decision from that point whether it be: website wireframes, social media strategy, or a content strategy, all ladders back up to the product. As Chris says "By flipping your thinking, sweating the details first, and always keeping your end consumer top of mind, launches will be smoother and more comprehensive, ensuring all of your channels are aligned and support one another." If you want to learn more, Chris put together a quick guide to help assist with this process. If you're curious, I highly recommend checking it out here! This was a HUGE PPV for Chris and I - as it happened right in our backyard. Chris actually attended the Monday Night Raw the following evening here in Edmonton - which saw The Hart Foundation all come out wearing Oilers jerseys, famous for Bret's “Our beer tastes butter” promo. As Chris mentions, there are only 4 matches on this PPV! The main event is an absolute barn-burner classic..so fun to see all 10 guys in around their prime fighting on the side of Canada vs USA. (Harts v Austin, Goldust, LOD and Shamrock). Mankind and HHH have another solid match, but its the brawl outside the Saddledome that is most memorable. Annnnnd Vader gets the tar beaten out of him -AGAIN! (vs Undertaker). We are nearing his imfamous "I'm a big fat piece of $hit" promo. Great stuff here! Ah, the nostalgia.
“This book is about learning from history, from life, sometimes the hard way, as it takes place around you,” writes New York Times bestselling author and former MSNBC host Chris Matthews in THIS COUNTRY: My Life in Politics and History (June 1st, 2021/$28.99 hardcover). “These pages are a celebration of this country and of the rich role I've enjoyed in sharing its politics and history. I got a lot of it right, but not always.” In THIS COUNTRY, Chris Matthews offers a panoramic portrait of modern America through the story of his remarkable life and career. It is a story of risk and adventure, of self-reliance and service, of loyalty and friendship. It is a story driven by an abiding faith in our country. Raised in a large Irish-Catholic family in Philadelphia at a time when kids hid under their desks in atomic war drills, Chris's life etched a pattern: take a leap, live an adventure, then learn what it means. As a young Peace Corps graduate, Chris moved to DC and began knocking on doors on Capitol Hill. With dreams of becoming what Ted Sorensen had been for Jack Kennedy, Chris landed as a staffer to Utah Senator Frank Moss, where his eyes were opened to the game of big-league politics. In the 1970s, Matthews mounted a campaign for Congress as a Democratic maverick running against Philadelphia's old political machine. He didn't win the most votes, but his grit put him on the path to a top job in the White House. As a speechwriter for President Carter, Matthews witnessed the triumphs and tragedies of that administration; from the diplomatic brilliance of the Israeli-Egyptian peace treaty to the disaster of the Iran hostage crisis. After Carter's defeat, Chris became chief of staff to legendary Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill, a perch that gave him an on-the-job PhD in American politics during the Reagan years. Chris then leapt to the other side of the political matrix as a columnist and reporter. For the San Francisco Examiner, he covered the fall of the Berlin Wall, the first all-races election in South Africa, the Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland, and every American presidency from Reagan to George W. Bush. Chris would go on to pioneer cable news with a fast-paced, no-nonsense television program. His show, Hardball with Chris Matthews, would become a political institution for twenty years. As Chris charts his political odyssey, he paints an energetic picture of a nation searching for its soul. He reflects with grace and wisdom, showcasing the grand arc of the American story through one life dedicated to its politics.

Our Market Dominance Guy, Chris Beall, is flying solo again this week as he meets with data guru Tom Zheng. Tom is a business intelligence engineer and works as an independent contractor in the field of data analysis. In other words, he spends his days making sense out of those large quantities of data that tend to pile up in businesses. As CEO of ConnectAndSell, Chris uses Tom's data analysis services to guide him through the often-confusing pathways that data can create. As Chris says, because data is kept in ways that are not always optimal for analysis, business leaders need people like Tom to help make sense of it, so they'll know if they're dominating their market or not, or if they're making or losing money on different parts of their business. With education credentials in economics and finance, Tom employs his talents in data engineering, data architecture, and data analysis. Along with these skills, he brings a great bedside manner — coupled with brutal honesty — to his data-sharing sessions with CEOs. To get to an actionable truth about the numbers he's analyzing for companies, Tom uses a series of questions that he asks himself and his clients: “Is this data meaningful? Is it true? And does it lead us somewhere or not?” Take a listen to how expert data analysis can help you dominate your market on today's Market Dominance Guys' episode, “Giving Your Data the Sniff Test.” About Our Guest Tom Zheng, a business intelligence engineer and independent contractor, is a seasoned data guru who specializes in transforming your company's data into actionable insights. With experience throughout the entire data value chain, from designing robust data ecosystems, implementing automated pipelines, and visualizing results in meaningful ways, Tom's unique storytelling approach will help you discover those “Aha!” moments needed to challenge traditional thinking and assumptions. He can be reached at (416) 877-5412.

The Market Dominance Guys, Chris Beall and Corey Frank, had a meeting of the minds this week with Marc Hodgson of ConnectAndSell, who proudly claims the titles of Sales Headcount Multiplier and Cost Per Meeting Reducer. Chris introduces Marc as a learner, a student of the craft of selling, and a delight to work with. As Chris says, “With Marc there's no bravado, no sales-jock stuff.” Marc is what's known as a “long-game player,” spending his work days building relationships with prospects, not pushing for an immediate sale. He credits fellow ConnectAndSell salesperson John Jackson with being his long-player model. As Marc explains John's sales approach, “[He] talks to a prospect three or four times a year … and when they're ready to buy, they buy from John.” The phrase, “Conversations matter,” is the basic tenet of ConnectAndSell, and Marc explains his adoption of it this way: “It takes time to build relationships. I have that core belief that there's going to be value in the conversation. We're going to learn together.” You can learn more about being a long-game player in this week's Market Dominance Guys' episode, “When the Time Is Right, the Magic Happens.” About Our Guest Marc Hodgson has had an illustrious and successful sales career at a variety of companies and currently holds the position of Sales Headcount Multiplier and Cost Per Meeting Reducer at ConnectAndSell. For Gold/Silver/Miners Chris wants to see gold rise to 1870 and then break the 1960 level. That will be the sign that the new gold bull market has begun. Right now the miners are outperforming the medal and the market in general. Chris isn’t trying to pick a bottom. The break-out will be a lot like July 2020. Then we’ll see an intense 1 to 2 month rally. China buying hasn’t taken off as best we can tell, despite the news to the contrary. Additionally, the general public is nowhere near wanting to buy metals yet. Largely due to no fear coming from the stock market. We could be years away from that, it’s a long journey to the upside. Copper has blasted to the upside. $4.50 is the next resistance point after which we could see it go much higher. Lumber has had a massive rally. It’s a feeding frenzy in the real estate market. No one cares about the price and everyone is fighting over it. But for how long? What will stop the housing market? As Chris describes it, there’s a huge lag in this market. There’s not going to much affect for 3-5 years. Increasing rates will put some pressure on the market. Lot’s of REIT’s for every appetite and many are paying high monthly dividends. REIT’s and EFT’s could be the way to play real estate. Great for Millennials. They don’t want to buy homes but they can still be real estate investors. Bitcoin down 16% in the last 3-4 trading days. Over the past couple of years, the last 4 pullbacks have all been double digits, but they’re getting smaller and tighter. Could go to 74k or down to 35k. Its a raging bull market. It’s a bit oversold. It’s super risky. Coinbase could be the gamechanger. Will there be a 2017 replay? What sectors of the market are doing what? Stock market is getting a little over done on the S&P 500, starting see defensive plays outperform. Ripe for pullback. Put call ratio is extremely low. We had the March deep correction and then there was a rebound so no one felt the pain. Eventually doomsday will be here. That’s when the trader make his stand. You always need to know your downside and fix your losses. Position and risk management are what it’s all about. If you don’t you’ll give it all back.

On this week’s episode of Market Dominance Guy, Chris Beall continues his conversation with Cherryl Turner, Chief Development Officer of ConnectAndSell’s newest division, Flight School. Together they talk about why it is that of the four sales outcomes — Yes, No, Not me, or Not now — the response that dominates is “Not now.” As Chris explains, “It’s the nature of life.” People are busy. Things come up. Priorities shift. But when a prospect says, “Not now,” what’s a sales rep to do? Push harder and try to squeeze his pitch into the conversation anyway? Or should he relax and bow to the prospect’s protestations that it’s a bad time to talk, by graciously saying, “No problem. I’ll give you a call next week.” It’s an unusual reaction in the high-pressure world of “Make that sale,” but this may be one of the keys to Cherryl’s success in her career: as Chris says, she handles the rigors of cold calling with grace. It also takes grace to handle the frustration of a no-show. But Chris’s surprising reaction to a cancelled appointment is, “I heart no-shows! They’re my favorite thing in business!” A no-show, he says, makes the relationship more real, because now it’s less perfect. It creates a more-even footing for the next conversation, as well as an opening for a prospect to reveal an insight or two about his business as he explains the why behind his missed appointment. So, when a rep or AE is faced with a no-show and is able to relax and say, “Hey, I understand. I’ll call you back later so we can find a time that will work better for you,” then that improves what Cherryl calls the “trust-o-meter.” She has learned that being persistent with call-backs to “Not now’s” and “No shows” lets her prospects know that she believes in the potential value of what she is selling. "I watched my father work 60 hour weeks, come home, make dinner, take maybe one vacation a year." This was what inspired Chris at a young age to start asking questions. He observed and took notes on those who were running their own business, driving nice cars and had time to spend doing what they liked. The entrepreneurs.Although Chris appeciated his father, he also knew there was more out there. At the age of 12, Chris began his entrepreneurial journey going door to door to ask to mow lawns to support himself financially. His educational pursuit led him to graduating from Clemson University with a business and entrepreneurship major.Upon graduation he became an Account Manager where he "streamlined relationships with hundreds of Fortune 500 clients. Now an Executive Director for a firm making annual economic business intelligence reports, Chris is also the Founder of the Next Level Minds podcast and a Co-Founder of a mobile B2B travel app based out of Charleston, SC.Chris' passion for business is what led him to become a podcaster. He interviews successful entrepreneurs, sharing the in-between of the A to Z. We discussed the importance of relationship building. As Chris states "it's best to be a friend before a salesperson".Although Millenials have their share of criticism, Chris makes it clear that there are the ones that have given up, looking at the future economic landscape and feeling overwhelmed. And then there are the "mover sand shakers". Chris is the latter. The truth is, there is not one generation where there haven't been both of those. However, with the Millenials now the new generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders, eyes are on them. And it is those who are like Chris, who pay attention, take notes, have a passion and drive for what they are doing who will succeed and be the "Elon Musks" for the next generation to take notes on.You can subscribe and listen to Chris' podcast Next Level Minds at https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/next-level-minds/id1471727578Chris is on Instagram at @chrischapchap and on LinkedIn @Chris Chapman.#entrepreneurmind #succeeding #entrepreneurspirit #successminded #inspiration #change #education #lifelessons #buzzsprout #podcast #podcasting #Spotify #GooglePodcast #TuneIn #stitcher #ApplePodcast #iHeartRadio #Pandora #PodcastAddict #Podchaser #Deezer #Listennotes #Overcast #Pocketcast #Castro #CastPost #iamthatgal #liftyourstory #liftyourstorypodcast #iamthatgal #thatgalwiththatguy #nextlevelminds #chrischapman #reachnextlevel #inspiration #millenials
As Chris and Travis continue on their Late Registration journey, they face what is probably Kanye's most complicated song narrative for any of his singles up to that point: Gold Digger. They discuss the song's commentary on gender roles, how stardom drives people to ugly lengths, and what the song's "twist" said about Kanye's view of materialism and classism at that point in his career. Our Market Dominance Guys, Chris Beall and Corey Frank, continue their discussion about churn and its various causes. Today’s topic is about how a company’s growth is managed. Are the guiding forces going after traction first? Or are they jumping right into how to scale before they have worked out their product’s kinks? Chris and Corey talk about the tragedy of designing for scale before you have traction. As Chris will tell you, it’s a fool’s errand. If you have no traction, no conversations with your buyers, then you’re not going to learn anything about what your customers need or about why they may not be coming back. Once again, market dominance is achieved when you investigate your churn! And that’s done with conversations.Today’s podcast winds up with a question of “Who’s in charge here?” when it comes to how to steer a company toward success. Is it the investors you’ve taken money from, who may be pressuring you to scale quickly? Or is it your customers, who, if asked, will tell you what they do or don’t like about your product or service, guiding you toward what you should do to keep them renewing? Listen in to what Chris and Corey think about this important matter on today’s Market Dominance Guys’ episode, “Which Comes First? Traction or Scale?” Market Dominance Guys is brought to you by:ConnectAndSell - ConnectAndSell allows your sales reps to talk to more decision-makers in 90 minutes than they would in a week or more of conventional dialing. The beacons have been lit. The lads are back with new life and new segments. The more things change the more they stay the same. The lads introduce their first new segment, Pop Takes, where someone brings up a hot take in pop culture - cue rabid infighting. It's the pitts. As Chris says, the proof will be in the pudding, so let's save the pudding for dessert. Oh what's that? Another new segment. Yeah that's right. This one is dubbed In the Trenches with Tolkien and brings forth original and brilliant analysis of Tolkien's work. We read between the lines to go beyond the lines and behind enemy lines. We get dirty so you don't have to. Let's just say that hobbits may be more powerful than you think. Johnny has a thought. After a quick word from not-a-sponsor, the controversial LOTR Impersonation Contest returns with some interesting tweaks.
We're back again this week, trying to get to know the couples as they settle into marriage but it's the Chris and Paige show once again. As Chris drops a bomb on Paige. Tayne explains why she thinks Chris is actually attracted to Paige despite what he says.We discuss how we think Haley and Jacob are slow burns, Erik finally telling Virginia he is married and Bri and Vince face their first test as a married couple and pass in flying colors and do Ryan and Clara have sexual chemistry? We disagree on whether Chris should have been disqualified just on the basis of being engaged 3 months prior. Cut out all the lights...then turn em back, because we need to have a discussion about what might very well be Kanye West's most somber song ever: Hands On. As Chris and Travis near the end of Jesus is King, the song becomes a crucial component of Kanye's long, arduous road back to God. In this episode they discuss Fred Hammond's crucial input into the song, Ephesians and 1 Corinthians (again), and the hypocrisy of the Christian community's response to Kanye West. And at no point do Chris and Travis talk about the Joker movie. Because why would they? Throughout KIDS SEE GHOSTS, we've seen Kid Cudi and Kanye West slowly overcome their demons—and it all culminates with Cudi Montage. As Chris and Travis recap the entirety of the album, they show how the Kids fell victim to the ghosts, learned to control their environment, and finally let God back into their lives to better themselves for the future. As Chris and Travis continue their lyrical analysis from ye to KIDS SEE GHOSTS, they find themselves in much darker, scarier territory...which is why they'll be holding hands this entire season. For the Feel the Love dissection, the WTT gang gets into all kinds of murky territory where Kanye West and Kid Cudi are forced to confront their ghosts and resist the unhealthy urges that would form new ghosts in the future. Let’s say you’re trying to get good at playing the guitar. Maybe you’re taking a class, or you have a tutor. How do you get improve? You practice—and a lot of that practice involves going home, sitting alone with your instrument, and taking time to work through every new skill or small snag: a couple of chords, finger placements, some tricky pieces of music. Now imagine you don’t have a guitar at home. When would you practice? Would you get as good if you were only able to play at school, or with your teacher? It’s possible—but it’s not likely. Now let’s apply this example to the service industry. How do you get better at cooking, or making pastries, or making coffee? You practice. And in an ideal world, you’d have everything you need within reach—the space, the equipment, the resources—in order to improve day by day. Chris McAuley is the founder of getchusomegear, an organization that gives away free coffee equipment to marginalized baristas. The idea first dawned on Chris when he noticed a pattern: He knew plenty of baristas who were eager to learn, but who—despite their enthusiasm—were slower to gain new skills, simply because they didn’t have anything to brew with at home. Since its inception, getchusomegear has shipped hundreds of boxes across the United States, expanded to Canada, and started a secondary shipping hub in Los Angeles. He and his team have worked with coffee businesses to fund grants, have helped folks with their resumes, and have created a system that normalizes mutual aid and redistribution of resources. Perhaps what’s most telling about Chris and his mission for getchusomegear is that there is no expectation of reciprocity. You don’t have to give anything back, or commit to loan repayments. You simply state your need, and Chris and the getchusomegear team—which has expanded to educators and organizers across the country—will do their best to get you a box. In addition to addressing the gap in equipment needs, getchusomegear also confronts the information gap. As Chris says in this episode, many have a tendency, across domains and disciplines, to hold information back, to hoard knowledge and not share it with others. In our hyper-competitive society, knowledge is often treated as its own commodity, an entity that can grant power and which must be protected. But when information is guarded, people—often people of marginalized groups—are left to scale the impossible barriers built by these gatekeepers. It’s unfair, and Chris is doing his best to break down those walls. Just a quick note before we begin: I noticed a factual error on my part. About seven minutes into the conversation, Chris and I are talking about our early coffee jobs and I mentioned that my first job had a Mazzer Super Jolly—the source of those clack clack clack sounds you’ll hear Chris and I make later. I was misremembering: It was at my second job that we had a Swift grinder and a Super Jolly. At my first job, we had a Mahlkönig that I think was K30, which we were not allowed to change the dial-in on. Now, on to the show.
Chris Ramey has been referred to as America's leading expert on selling to the affluent. As Chris has clients in over 20 countries worldwide, perhaps that reference needs to be expanded. During Chris's visit we discussed the difference in affluent, high end, and luxury. Chris offered great insight as to how everyone finds something they place a great value on and will spend the money to purchase it; even as the purchase is inconsistent with the other possessions or services they have in their life. If you are wanting to learn how to sell to the affluent market, this hour long program would be a great investment of your time.

In the grand finale to “The Big Picture,” Jason Buck speaks to Chris Cole, founder and CIO of Artemis Capital. Chris is one of the sharpest players in the volatility space and has made his name by playing risks and opportunities that others can’t see. An outspoken critic of the 60/40 equity/bond split, Chris is an advocate of what he calls “the dragon portfolio,” which consists of gold, long volatility, and commodity trend-following in addition to stocks and bonds. Chris gave a glimpse of the dragon portfolio when he spoke with Danielle DiMartino Booth on Real Vision in February 2020. Since then, volatility has exploded, both during the massive sell-off in March as well as in the shocking market melt-up since then. Simply put, the dragon has been unleashed. The twin risks of the left tail (deflationary deleveraging) and right tail (inflationary deleveraging) loom large. As Chris wrote in his 2020 report, "to thrive, we must embody the cosmic duality between the hawk and the serpent." The things we take for granted are usually the most essential. Take water--every morning we get up and turn on the faucet to brush our teeth. But what if the tap was dry? We hopped on the phone with Chris Phipps, Anne Arundel County's Director of Public Works to talk about a department that is nearly invisible to most. Roads, water, sewer, trash, recycling, bridges, Bay health, traffic signals, sidewalks, fire stations, and so much more are all things we just assume are there. Not so, Chris and his award winning team of 700 plus people keep the wheels of the County running. As Chris said, they tend to be the pre-first responders. I don't feel like celebrating Christmas this year. It just doesn't feel like Christmas. Things are supposed to be back to normal by now. Come to think of it, nothing has gone according to plan this year. I know some of you put up your Christmas tree early this year, and I get it. It's going to take a couple extra weeks to get in the mood for Christmas this year. As Chris and I were talking about a theme for Christmas this year… I wasn't ready for Joy to the World, but maybe just a calm Christmas… or a quiet Christmas. We settled on “Peace on Earth”. Each week we will be talking about peace. My hope and prayer for each of us (including me)… whether here or online would feel true peace. Not that we would ignore the problems, minimize our pain, or pretend all is well, but find moments of real peace. Peace that comes from knowing you are right with your maker. Where you know everything is going to be ok.
I don't typically release my podcast on Sunday, but this is no typical podcast. This week my special guest is Chris Ducker, author of Rise of the Youpreneur and Virtual Freedom. When I first started my entrepreneurial journey, I was a bit leery of personal branding...Would I be better off with the Acme Copywriting Academy, or is it better to stick my name on everything? I believe in almost every case it's best to be your brand and I credit Chris Ducker with teaching me many of the tactics I've used to build mine. So...Why the Sunday Release? Like so many others, Chris's annual live event, The Youpreneur Summit, was cancelled due to the pandemic. As Chris puts it in the podcast, he wanted to do something to bring people together and teach his "Build, Market, Monetize" process - which he'll be doing online, for free, starting tomorrow (Monday, 11/16/20). I take no joy in Chris's (or anyone else's) event being canceled, but this does make things a bit more accessible for those of us in the US as the live event takes place in London. Adding some of Chris's wisdom to your arsenal is a smart move and since he's offering this 3 day bootcamp for free, I suggest you jump on it. Author and serial entrepreneur, Chris Ducker has built an income stream by following a simple formula — show up every week and create content that answers a question or solves a problem. This insight comes from today's conversation with Chris, in which he candidly explains the steps he's taken to create his successful subscription service, Youpreneur Academy. Early in our discussion, we talk about his subscriber numbers, retention rates, and what he does to manage his website. From video training to blog posts, we chat about what his members get out of his service and why he no longer needs to upload huge amounts of content per month. After touching on why he charges dollars for subscriptions, we dive into a key part of his offering — the community aspect. As Chris explains, entrepreneurs need to speak to and learn from their peers. In his case, this includes mega-successful business people who have only started to build their personal brands. We then discuss his tiered subscription model, why email is the king of his marketing funnel, and why you should aim to get users onto your website and away from social media platforms. Tune in for more on what you can do to nail your online subscription model.

Chris Gotti was part of the Hip Hop revolution. He and his brother built Murder, Inc. into a power house music label. They helped propel the music genre throughout the 90's and 2000's. They worked with some of the biggest names in the biz from JaRule to Black Child to Ashanti. Then in 2003, he his brother along with many famous rappers get targeted by the NYPD's "Hip Hop" police. As a result of their connection with Kenneth "Supreme" Team McGriff the FBI and NYPD raided their office and indicted them on multiple charges related to money laundering. Chris breaks down what happened and how they spent years investigating on their own and spending more than $2M to get the best lawyers and private investigators. He shares stories about relationships and controversy past and present with Fat Joe The Game, and many others. Chris has always helped guys coming back from prison and given them the the opportunity to prove themselves back in society. Today he is focused on how the world of HipHop and more broadly the Black and Brown communities need to work together to fight the systemic racism that is built into every fiber of the US judicial system. As Chris says," We need to stop fighting with each other and focus the effort on the real problem. Unless you got the best most powerful lawyers money can buy, you have a 99% chance of getting screwed when being arrested or going to trial".
Operational excellence is achieved when every member of an organization can see the flow of value to the customer and fix that flow before it breaks down. But as a manager of people, you know that this isn’t an easy goal to achieve — especially if your team members are now working from home instead of working together in one building. As Chris explains in a story about his experience mountain climbing and running up against a 9-foot tall stretch of wall, “We make a great plan — and then we run into that blank wall. The COVID pandemic is an example of that wall.”In this podcast, Chris and Corey have a conversation with Valerie Schlitt, founder and CEO of VSA, about what to do with the problems this wall has created for her team members and those of her clients. Valerie holds a Wharton MBA and has 19 years of experience directing a great team of her own who use their skills to help VSA’s customers develop their businesses. “Collaborating with people is one of the biggest sources of ways to solve problems,” Valerie explains. But with the work-from-home movement, how can you maintain that same group problem-solving?In talking with Valerie, Chris and Corey ask for her expertise and share their own experiences in managing these challenges: How do you motivate your team to rally around a radical decision? How do you get everyone on your team to recognize the value of the expertise andtalent of the other team members? How do you help your team members see where they themselves are deficient and thenlearn to bolster that with other people’s talents? How do you encourage everyone on your team to respect other team members whenpeople are so different? How does self-importance get in the way of operational excellence? As usual, Chris and Corey create an atmosphere of camaraderie with their podcast guests. You’ll enjoy the flow of conversation and the information these three experts share.About Our GuestValerie Schlitt is the founder, owner, and CEO of VSA, a B2B call center that helps clientsgenerate leads and produce new business. Valerie also heads up the Philadelphia chapter of AA-ISP.
Gavin’s taking Blake to a medical appointment, under cover; Blake’s not meant to be working. He assures Philip he’ll manage it. Philip ticks off Gavin for getting too matey with the slaves. Later Gavin reports Blake’s clearly still in pain with his back. Philip reckons they can’t go a man down and asks if they should get rid of Blake but Gavin’s not sure. Chris apologises to Philip for his cousin Brad sending a fake solicitor’s letter. It’s a touchy subject for Philip. He asks Chris about the birdfeeder he’s making for Lynda and Robert. He’s having a film night with Alice tonight. Philip’s heard they’ve been married over ten years. Chris still can’t believe his luck that Alice fell for him. Alice is drinking by the Am, waiting for Fallon who’s a no show. Alice has had a rough day with Adam and Brian bickering. She just wants some time on her own. As Chris wonders where she’s got to, increasingly drunk Alice leaves an abusive message for Emma. As frantic Chris calls Harrison and people are out looking for Alice, Gavin finds her out cold in a lane. He phones his dad. He wants to call an ambulance but Philip orders him to drive away. He can’t risk Blake being seen if the police come. Gavin can call for help on a burner phone later, but he has to leave Alice where she is now.
This Patreon-funded bonus episode is actually the pilot episode for Chris and Ally's spinoff show Monkey Business, where they talk about The New Legends of Monkey, a Journey to the West inspired netflix series. As Chris says, it is arguable "the most Xena show since Xena ended." Binge culture was the final nail in the coffin where the syndicated action pack tv show was laid to rest, but New Legends of Monkey definitely captures those low-budget New Zealand vibes. This podcast was... IRREPRESSIBLE! This episode serves as a momentary distraction from what you were listening to before you laid ears on our disgusting yet ultimately forgettable voices. We watched Episode 1 of The New Legends of Monkey. Follow us on twitter: @XenaWarriorBiz This podcast is the spinoff/sister podcast of SAILOR BUSINESS. Art by @barelysushi.
