Sport ecologist Dr. Madeleine Orr is pitching a ‘green game plan' for sports fans. In “Warming Up,” Orr pairs her academic curiosity and storytelling to stir optimism (or “hopeium”) about using the power of sport to explain climate adaptation. The University of Toronto professor's début book reminds readers sports are a bigger social connector than politics, arts, and pop culture — and the loss of them can have significant mental health effects.  As such, sports is a rallying point to push for a world that must burn about five times less fossil fuels to avert worst-case outcomes from climate change. Whether it is children learning a new game, or globetrotting pros, athletes need breathable air, drinking water, and relief from the ‘big bad' of extreme heat (and winter sport athletes need snow, too). Far from a doom-and-gloom finger-wag, Orr shows that many athletes and sports organizations are on Team Green, and outlines the next steps.

#regenerativemedicine #regenerativehealthcare #regeneration WILL HUMANS BE ABLE TO REGROW LOST LIMBS? Nirosha Murugan is an Asst Prof at Algoma University & an interdisciplinary scientist who uses a top-down approach, to combine principles and state-of-the-art techniques from neuroscience, regenerative medicine, and cancer biology, to investigate how cancer cell fate can be reprogrammed into healthy cells using regenerative microenvironments, and in turn, how cancer microenvironments can modulate the function of distant organ systems such as the brain to induce cancer-related cognitive impairments. She along with Michael Levin & David Kaplan led the team of researchers to discover a regenerative process to regrow new limbs on frogs, A five-drug-cocktail silicone cap was put over the wounds of frogs for a 24-hour treatment period. After 18 months the frogs regrew functional limbs with nerves, muscles, bones and even things that resembled toes. "Technology like this and other 'smart bandages,' is what Dr Nirosha & her team are calling it, are new directions and new advancements to minimizing pain associated with limb loss and actually regrowing the limb after it has been lost. Dr Murugan is hopeful that within our lifetime this technology can be used to treat humans who have lost limbs. https://ca.linkedin.com/in/nirosha-murugan https://twitter.com/msahsorin Watch our highest viewed videos: 1-India;s 1st Quantum Computer- https://youtu.be/ldKFbHb8nvQDR R VIJAYARAGHAVAN - PROF & PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR AT TIFR 2-Breakthrough in Age Reversal- -https://youtu.be/214jry8z3d4DR HAROLD KATCHER - CTO NUGENICS RESEARCH 3-Head of Artificial Intelligence-JIO - https://youtu.be/q2yR14rkmZQShailesh Kumar 4-STARTUP FROM INDIA AIMING FOR LEVEL 5 AUTONOMY - SANJEEV SHARMA CEO SWAAYATT ROBOTS -https://youtu.be/Wg7SqmIsSew 5-TRANSHUMANISM & THE FUTURE OF MANKIND - NATASHA VITA-MORE: HUMANITY PLUS -https://youtu.be/OUIJawwR4PY 6-MAN BEHIND GOOGLE QUANTUM SUPREMACY - JOHN MARTINIS -https://youtu.be/Y6ZaeNlVRsE 7-1000 KM RANGE ELECTRIC VEHICLES WITH ALUMINUM AIR FUEL BATTERIES - AKSHAY SINGHAL -https://youtu.be/cUp68Zt6yTI 8-Garima Bharadwaj Chief Strategist IoT & AI at Enlite Research -https://youtu.be/efu3zIhRxEY 9-BANKING 4.0 - BRETT KING FUTURIST, BESTSELLING AUTHOR & FOUNDER MOVEN -https://youtu.be/2bxHAai0UG0 10-E-VTOL & HYPERLOOP- FUTURE OF INDIA"S MOBILITY- SATYANARAYANA CHAKRAVARTHY -https://youtu.be/ZiK0EAelFYY 11-NON-INVASIVE BRAIN COMPUTER INTERFACE - KRISHNAN THYAGARAJAN -https://youtu.be/fFsGkyW3xc4 12-SATELLITES THE NEW MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR SPACE RACE - MAHESH MURTHY -https://youtu.be/UarOYOLUMGk Connect & Follow us at: https://in.linkedin.com/in/eddieavil https://in.linkedin.com/company/change-transform-india https://www.facebook.com/changetransformindia/ https://twitter.com/intothechange https://www.instagram.com/changetransformindia/ Listen to the Audio Podcast at: https://anchor.fm/transform-impossible https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/change-i-m-possibleid1497201007?uo=4 https://open.spotify.com/show/56IZXdzH7M0OZUIZDb5mUZ https://www.breaker.audio/change-i-m-possible https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cHM6Ly9hbmNob3IuZm0vcy8xMjg4YzRmMC9wb2RjYXN0L3Jzcw Kindly Subscribe to CHANGE- I M POSSIBLE - youtube channel www.youtube.com/ctipodcast

Julie M. Stamm, Ph.D. received her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2009. As part the research team at the Boston University Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy (BU CSTE). Stamm has been involved in ground-breaking research with Dr. Robert Stern on chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a progressive neurodegenerative disease of the brain found in athletes (and others) with a history of repetitive brain trauma. She was the first to publish research on the long-term consequences of repetitive brain trauma in youth sports. This research has been covered in the media worldwide and has influenced youth sports organizations to make rule changes in youth sports to limit head impacts.   Outside of school and research, Julie enjoys running, volleyball, many outdoor activities, and traveling. She is also an avid fan of Wisconsin Badger sports. Today we will explore her latest book The Brain on Youth Sports: The Science, the Myths, and the Future 02:39   Introducing Julie M Stamm PhD. She talks about her background in sport and how she got involved in brain trauma. 08:47   Setting the scene for the conversation 13:55   What is a brain injury and what is the misconception of it? What are some of the symptoms we may not be familiar with? 17:05   Julie talks about the sports which are more prone for head injuries, and she explain critical brain development in the younger years. 26:30   Building a story around learning a new skill, motor learning and the impact of a brain injury. Re-creation of brain structures. 35:39   Unpacking rewiring of neuron in a teen brain. 38:37   Sporting governing bodies-those who are changing are thriving 42:37   Julie provides some suggestion on how to deal with recovery and explain the difference between boys and girls. 50:50   We discuss how she experience the culture around brain injuries in youth sport. 55:30   Does helmets protect brain injuries. 58:39   Playing like adults does not make a young person better. 60:15   Julie's version of “Sound of music” of youth sport. 64:05   What about food, how can this impact on our brain? 67:40   In closing let's not give up and think we need to change youth sport to be boring because we need to protect their brains. A paradigm shift is needed just like Asbestos and smoking, we are now more aware about brain trauma and its impact. Sport can remain. Show notes and links www.yellowforyelling.com
