Embodiment coach and neuroscience educator Amanda Blake joins me for a thoughtful and engaging exploration of the science and practice of embodiment. We cover the ins and outs of body-oriented coaching, how to discuss embodiment without getting lost in jargon, and what it means to build “minimal trust.” Along the way, we tackle neuro-hype, research credibility (with a nod to Amy Cuddy and Wendy Palmer), and the delicate balance between theory and practice. Expect insights into empathy, embodied self-awareness, interoception, proprioception, centring, and the all-important “keystone” of becoming your best self. This conversation is warm, sharp, and packed with insights that bridge science, coaching, and real-world application. When Bury FC was expelled from the Football League after 125 years, the government commissioned a fan-led review of football's financial stability. Centring the importance of football clubs to hundreds of local communities, it recommended tough new rules about governance and ownership of football clubs. Five years on and with both Labour and the Conservatives supporting the creation of a new regulator, Scunthorpe United has become a case study for why politicians think they need to step in. A succession of owners, a string of relegations and a more than gloomy balance book left the North Lincolnshire town wondering what life without its football club might look like. But the efforts of the local community led to a small piece of hope. For Radio 4, lifelong Scunthorpe fan and BBC political journalist (in that order) Jack Fenwick tells the inside story of how it all went so wrong and what happened next.Presenter and producer: Jack Fenwick

Join Mim and Lis as we hear an interview with two social workers from the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. These passionate social workers discuss the crucial role of social work in family law cases. Their social work story explores how conducting child-centered assessments and gaining the child's perspective can shift parents' understanding of their child's experiences, and lead to resolutions focused on the child's needs. They highlight how social workers navigate complex issues of risk, development and emotion to advocate for children navigating parental separation and high-conflict disputes. Mim and Lis then unpack the story and the important work that these social workers do, drawing links between this work and wider social work practice. p.s. On this episode of Diary of a Kidney Warrior podcast, we feature the courageous experiences of young peritoneal dialysis patient, Emma Kearns. Emma shares her journey from her early kidney disease diagnosis through her life threatening battle with sepsis, kidney failure and ableist workspaces. The powerful story is not just about the trials and troubles, but also a narrative of resilience, courage, and determination. Centring on Emma's life post-kidney failure, we delve into her return to Northern Ireland for a transplant. A detour that included leaving behind her life in Liverpool and fearing the catheter surgery while adapting to dialysis. The emotional roller coaster of chronic kidney disease (CKD), the misconceptions surrounding dialysis, the mental toll of being tied to a machine, and balancing a semblance of normalcy become crucial topics of discussion. A further push into the narrative discusses the discomfort of 'drain pain', and the ever-present catheter, yet her relentless spirit and determination shine through. Emma's dedication to raise public awareness about kidney disease, fuelled by the TikTok community's support, is a key element spurring her to fight her health challenge with a brave face. Her resilience, strength, and optimism put on display for young individuals fighting similar battles. The broader discussion about ableist mindsets, the lack of understanding, empathy for young CKD patients, and the central role social media plays in connecting kidney disease patients globally is also tackled. Join us in this heartfelt conversation that not only encapsulates the harsh reality of CKD but also the inherent spirit of survival, support, and hope. My guest today is Mikaela de la Myco. I was drawn to the way she presents herself as a mother in the psychedelic space through her platform, Mama de la Myco. I had every intention in having a conversation with her about psychedelic parenting. However, I threw out all my questions out the window and followed Mikaela's energy; it was clear that Mikaela had so much to share with us about centring mothers, women, and ingenious voices in the psychedelic movement. She lends us a perspective around how the psychedelic mainstream movement is falling short, and the reality of how indigenous people are treated in the psychedelic industry. In addition, we talk about how mushrooms are helping mothers through the challenges of the postpartum period, and how psychedelics might be useful for families.Mikaela is currently pouring into the Mushrooms and Moms survey with support from Dr. Jim Fadiman and the Microdosing Institute. This project is surveying mothers and birthing people who consumed psilocybin mushrooms throughout their motherhood and parenting journey in order to accumulate a body of evidence for effects of psilocybin on birthing people, women and their children. It was lovely to have Lockie Phillips back this week for his fourth time on the podcast. We got to chatting about how he's feeling and what he's been up to since his big move across the country to the North West of Spain last summer, which I have been excited to talk to him about! Unsurprisingly, he's been busy turning his new property into a super functional, horse-centric environment and learning how to manage best amidst some pretty wet weather conditions (think: Atlantic hurricanes). Throughout our discussion Lockie emphasized the Horse in Horsemanship, leading him to share some stories illustrating that prioritizing and considering the horse is still far from being a common value amongst equestrians, along with some neuroscience to contextualize why that is. Our conversation ended with us both describing recent moments with our own horses, and talking about the kinds of interactions that become possible when we lean into cultivating true relationship with this incredible creatures. I hope this episode got you feeling and thinking as much as it did for me! Lockie Phillips teaches deeply caring horse people to create emotionally balanced horses using science, empathy and feel. Emotional Horsemanship can be explored with online courses, online lessons, online coaching, international clinics and retreats in Spain. A retired pro-dancer, Lockie lives in North Western Spain and is a horse dad to 4 geldings. Centring is not just for Christmas because…. it's a practice to help all of us whether we are celebrating this holiday period or not…it's equally a practice that could help all of us every day of the year. So what is Centring? Centring or Grounding (interchangeable) usually refers to our mental and physical state of mind. It's the place we know we have to get back to when we're not feeling like ourselves. Bobby and Bridge chat and offer gifts a plenty of things you can do to help you back to Centre. Centring your investment strategy around trust and your teams is an easy and effective way to supercharge your portfolio position. In this episode of the Smart Property Investment Show, Phil Tarrant sits down with Goose McGrath from Dashdot and Eva Loisance of Finni Mortgages to chat through the need for goal alignment, finding the best people in the industry, and giving trust upfront to create a positive and empowering environment for investors. They also introduce the concept of minimum viable freedom, a formula that helps investors calculate their desired level of financial freedom and plan their property portfolio accordingly. While buying a single property may not require a team, investors looking to build a portfolio and achieve long-term wealth creation would be well-versed to surround themselves with professionals who are squarely in their corner, whether that be finance and mortgage brokers, property strategists, or even portfolio growth partners. Vicki Pepperdine is in some of our favourite comedies, so - of course - we leapt at the chance to have her on the podcast. Vicki chats to Hannah about playing Princess Anne in The Windsors, working with Julia Davis, their "filthy" podcast Dear Joan and Jericha, and why not enough people have watched Getting On. In Jenny Off the Blocks, Jen chats to Kelly Gordon, executive lead for Netball England's NETBALLHer campaign, about sport for life and the barriers women face when it comes to sports participation. In Rated or Dated, we overpluck our eyebrows and crack open a Grolsch, because we're watching 1998's Sliding Doors. Ciara Roberts brings you a series of guided meditations. You can listen seated, laying down, on a train, in a plane, under a tree...make it work for you.Beginning with Arriving and Centring. The energies of Arrive. The energies of Centre.Arriving and centring into the contours of our physical form. Centring into the essence of the deepest inner truths we hold.Arriving and Centring is a practise Ciara experienced with long time yin yoga teacher, Sarah Lo. A useful way to expand our feelings of body. How we experience sitting, in physical form, within an entire cosmology - which can seem so very peculiar or abstract when we have not had direct experience of this sense of connection. This enduring vastness. It resides within each one of us. Without exception. We arrive into the landscape of body.We centre into the inner beingness - perhaps we could call this grounding in our Buddha self. Or tapping into the well of sustenance within. Our inner power. It whispers and willows much further than the constraints of body. Enjoy. Ciara Jean RobertsYoga teacher, Writer, Naturopathic Nutritional Therapisthttps://www.whollyaligned.com

His lifelong search for absolute truth started a long time ago in Europe in his teens, but sadly led to lots of cul-de-sacs and dead ends. He is in his mid-60s and believes he only found the real teachings when he touched Theravada Buddhism 10 years ago. Living and studying at Bodhinyana Monastery enabled him to finally find the real teachings. Good people with Metta sustained and nurtured him through the difficult years. His father, as an expression of Metta, often comes to mind and also his children who are young adults now. Isn't family some of our best teachers too, even when events don't go too well? He was fortunate to run into an ex-monk from the Thai Forest tradition in 2009,in Sydney, who had been one of Ajahn Chah's carers. Soon afterwards he discovered that all the teachings of the Buddha are very honest and thorough, and passed all experiential investigation. There are no loopholes in the Suttas and the Eightfold Path does gradually reduce suffering. He tried to blend Buddhist practice into a number of senior roles that he had in the Finance and Charity sectors in Sydney but soon realised that colleagues will only practice if they want to! He finds it a blessing to have Ajahn Brahmavamso as his preceptor and access to other marvellous teachers like Ajahn Brahmali, Bhante Sujato and Bhikkhu Bodhi. Such riches! His name, Mettaji comes from a monk in the time of the Buddha and translates as ”Victory through loving kindness.” That is the aspiration he wants to fulfill in his practice and in meeting anyone, anywhere. In this talk from our UNITE ‘22 conference, Colin defines what a gospel centred on Jesus means and looks like in a distracted, violent, and politicized world. This talk will inspire you to make everything about Jesus. Colin challenges us to ensure that the living and knowable Jesus isn't being displaced by a politically co-opted or religiously codified Jesus at the centre of the Gospel.

Jesus invites us into this relational journey with God and each other as we go along, building God's kingdom together as a means that signifies our radical obedience and discipleship.

Centring the narrative around a lively, erudite and thoroughly enjoyable history of one family from Malwa in Central India which held substantial land and various administrative offices in the Mughal empire and negotiated over several generations with three regimes - the Mughals, the Marathas and the British, Dr Chatterjee assembles a living, breathing world through her book, Negotiating Mughal Law: A Family of Landlords across Three Indian Empires. It is a classic history from below, populated with real people and colourful individuals in both spectacular and everyday situations which tells a riveting story even as it opens up many important questions for scholars and students of Mughal history and historical scholarship more broadly. In this episode of BIC Talks Dr. Prachi Deshpande talks to Dr. Nandini Chatterjee about the story of how she reconstructed a coherent archive to tell a micro-history of one family over such a long period of time and about it being a thought provoking meditation on the very nature of the historical archive.
In this episode, we spoke with Alessandra Pomarico about creating collaborative art for social change, both before and during the pandemic. The show begins by talking about friendship and different collectives in Italy and New York, before moving on to new ways of thinking which combine resistance and existence (re-existence). Centring re-existence in Latin American ideas and the Zapatista movement, Alessandra puts forward a new way of learning through collective living and collaborative art spaces. I am so jazzed to share this episode of The Becoming Podcast with you today. Graeme Seabrook and I have the most vivacious and far-reaching conversation about motherhood, and I know you will enjoy it. Let me tell you about Graeme: she is a maternal mental health expert, advocate, and community leader who helps moms and reconnect with and embrace their humanity. As a certified life coach and founder of The Mom Center, an online community exclusively for moms, she's coached over 3,000 moms on how to place their names at the top of their priority list, without guilt or shame. I first learned of Graeme and her work when I listened to her amazing interview on our mutual friend Mara Glatzel's podcast. Graeme totally blew my mind on that podcast when she talked about the concept of what I've come to call "reclaiming the matriarchy," which essentially says that if mothers are going to do all the emotional and physical and spiritual labour for their families that they do, their needs should be centred in their families. I've since written about that concept in my own way here. In this conversation with Graeme, we explore that theme more deeply, and she shares with me how that philosophy has evolved over the past couple of years. We talk about the societal and cultural influences on motherhood, and she reminds all mamas that you're not broken, motherhood is. Graeme totally debunks the idea of "putting your oxygen mask on first," which basically stopped me completely in my tracks during our interview. We talk about what empowered motherhood looks like, the power to be found in surrender, and finally, Graeme shares how we can better understand and support BIPOC mothers. She shares the best piece of guiding advice for this, reminding us that we, as a collective of mothers, are only as healthy and well as those of us who are most marginalized.
Social media promotional buys and Facebook ads may seem like an attention grabbing, high-risk for big-potential reward gamble, but it's the dependable and cost-effective email that consistently pays the bills and keeps the lights on. Says Jacob Sappington, too few business owners really understand the importance email plays in the majority of their sales, or how to properly utilize them. Despite having healthy and productive email systems, or investing in optimizing their email systems, too many e-commerce brands will chase the better promises of Facebook ads rather than work on the good email offers. The Truth: Facebook ads have consistently been getting more expensive, while not offering a better, more targeted service Email however has only gotten cheaper and easier to automate. It can be near-infinitely adaptable, for whatever the needs of your brand or customers, at a fraction of the cost of paying a social media provider to generate new potential leads, and with much greater creative and market-responsive control when you do land a new contact. Centring your marketing campaign around a cost-effective and efficient email strategy allows you to: Stay in touch with your customers at your whim or need Allow you more flexibility in providing and promoting special offers Create a closer sense of producer-brand-consumer relationship through an ongoing conversation Remain in control of your assets, and where every cent of your promotional budget is spent Give you more content for every dollar, allowing you to generate far more content and connections No one is going to cut off all spending on social media promotions, every brand needs a constant stream of new customers, and you have to generate your lists somewhere if they're not already visiting your store. However, by supplementing your Facebook and social media spending with email marketing, using social media promotions just for the initial draw and not continued contact with customers, you can drastically cut down on costs while increasing engagement and conversions.
