In this powerful and wide-ranging conversation, Patti Brennan sits down with Dr. Brian McDonough—family physician, media voice of medicine in Philadelphia, and deeply curious podcaster—to explore the surprising parallels between financial planning and healthcare. Together, they unpack what it means to thrive in retirement, why strength, balance, and flexibility matter just as much as savings and investments, and how the systems around us—whether in medicine or money—often miss the human element. You'll hear stories from the front lines of both hospital rooms and boardrooms: how one resident saved a life by trusting their instincts, why patients feel most seen by the nurses, and what Patti's own father did after retiring from IBM to follow his daughter's Olympic dreams. Whether you're 35 or 65, this episode is packed with real-life advice, emotional insight, and reminders that retirement isn't just about numbers—it's about purpose, health, and the relationships that sustain us.

Send us a textThe Month of June honors the importance of the health and wellness of boys and men through education and awareness. One of the top 3 causes of reduced lifespan in men is cardiovascular disease. Unfortunately, I personally know friends and family members who have suddenly passed from heart attacks before 50. These were hard-working men, so please, MEN, prioritize your health and wellness if you aren't doing so already. Everything else can wait while you schedule and check in on your annual health screening. Some of the reasons why our men rarely visit their physicians are because of busy schedules, macho attitudes, fear of diagnosis, and being uncomfortable with the examination. MEN, you already do harder things, so you've got this. Remember, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.Let's get #healthiertogether.

Spiritual growth is necessary in order to grow in faith. We should be mindful to give ourselves a spiritual checkup often. Spiritual checkups are needed to ensure we are displaying Christ in our lives. We should look for a growing awareness of Christ's presence and power in our lives. Only then will we know if we are true Christians or imposters. If we're not taking active steps to grow closer to God, we are drawing father away from him. Spiritual checkups are a way for us to make sure we are really walking in faith and it's showing in our lives.

In this episode of the Onya Mic podcast, Ashley discusses the importance of conducting a mid-year marketing checkup. She emphasizes the need to assess current marketing goals, measure performance metrics, and understand shifts in consumer behavior. The conversation also covers the necessity of reevaluating budgets and ensuring that messaging aligns with current consumer sentiments. Ashley encourages listeners to take this opportunity for a reset and to reach out for support if needed. Takeaways Consider this your mid-year marketing checkup. It's important to assess your current results with marketing goals. What doesn't get measured, doesn't matter. Measure progress based on recent checkpoints, not competitors. Consumer habits and preferences are shifting, especially in an election year. Reevaluate your budget and resource allocation based on performance. Your messaging must be consistent with current consumer behavior. People buy based on their emotions, not just logic. This is the perfect time of year for a reset in your marketing strategy. Look at where you want to be and where you are now.
