A coming of age novel about working-class female friendship, set in the schoolyards, nightclubs, and alleyways of a gritty, post-industrial town in Yorkshire, England. Three girls are inseparable, their friendship as indestructible as they are, but as they grow up and away from one another, a long-festering secret threatens to rip the trio apart.
It's time for The Truth!Today, Sam and Dougie are looking at Chelsea, and a slide in form since the turn of the year that has seen them slide from second in the table to being on the brink of falling out of the Champions League places. So what has happened in 2025 to Enzo Maresca's side, and where has the form that saw them exceed all pre-season expectations gone to?We discuss the squad building and some of the quizzical decisions to let players go in January, the fact that Enzo Maresca's Leicester side had a similar second-half slump in the Championship last year, the lack of experience on the pitch in this squad, the injuries that have hurt Chelsea in key areas, the current style being at odds and loads more as we try to get to the bottom of it. Are Chelsea balancing the squad wrong and has Maresca got them in a spin, or is this just a dip in form that they'll come out of the other side of? Well, The Truth is somewhere in the middle... Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Marco Worrall to look back at a great Chelsea performance against Man City.In part one we applaud a great Chelsea performance, redolent of Chelsea v Barcelona from days gone by; tactically disciplined, counter attacking brilliantly and defending like demons. Did this young team come of age on Saturday? Massive shout outs to the defence - Disasi a rock; Colwill assured; Gusto superb; Chilly back to his best; should this be the defence going forward? Can or should Gusto keep James out when he's fit? The midfield were superb; Moises was tenacious and did well not to get a 2nd yellow; Enzo was here, there and every fucking where; Gallagher was imperious and snuffed out Rodri. In attack Palmer was ice cold as per; fair play to Sterling with a great goal and Jackson with a great assist and good work all match. In part two we ask are we better as a counterattack team, getting the ball forward quickly, mixed with long balls makes us more threatening but it doesn't work against low block teams? But we still struggle to finish and need a striker. Nkunku was poor when he came on, struggling to adjust to the pace of the game, perhaps not match sharp but he didn't help with the defence. Chelsea fought like a team and it looks like a bond and understanding is growing. The fight and spirit was good to see and is something to build on. But did Poch do the right thing - should we have gone for the win? 5 at the back made sense as City were getting round the back. Jackson and Palmer on yellow cards was perhaps an issue, but was it negative or sensible? When all is said and done, Poch got the tactics and selection right while Pep is salty and still bald. Does this performance give us hope if not expectation against Liverpool next weekend? Most thought we'd get hammered v City so this performance should give us confidence. Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Marco Worrall to look back at the 0-0 draw against Aston Villa and ahead to Wednesday night's match against Liverpool. In part one we look back at the 0-0 draw in the FA Cup against Aston Villa. The injury curse strikes again as Colwill withdraws but his replacement Gilchrist did well. Chelsea were dominant in the first half but, wash, rinse, repeat - can't score, although Martinez is a top keeper and kept them in it. Chelsea were on the front foot, pressing and were up for it and the atmosphere was rocking as a result. In the second half we tired, and Petrovic kept us in it.We ask was the Ref Taylor in disguise? And discuss Mudryk and Broja being truly hopeless; it was like playing with 9 men when they came on. But it was a very good performance, especially the pressing, just a frustrating result. We potentially have Leeds at home next if we can beat Villa in the replay – but can we?In part two we preview the Liverpool v Chelsea match on Wednesday night, kicking off with Chidge's team selection. Will Colwill be fit? Will Chilwell start? Are Mudryk and Broja unpickable at the moment? Will it make a difference with Kopp announcing he's leaving at the end of the season? No Salah – will it make a difference? How do we see it going plus our predictions. And finally another round of 'They Played for Both'. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Tony Glover to look back at the thrashing of Middlesbrough taking Chelsea to another Wembley final and ahead to Friday night's visit of Aston Villa in the FA Cup to hopefully set us on the patch to another Wembley final! In part one we applaud Chelsea's clinical finishing, in our biggest ever semifinal win. Palmer was outstanding and Chilwell is a class above. Well done too to Colwill and Disasi and while Sterling is frustrating he had a good game in reality. However, patience with Mudryk appears to be growing thin judging by the berating he got from Enzo and Chilwell and Broja continues to play with angst. But Chelsea reach their 18th Wembley final since 2000 which considering everything that's going this season is huge.In part two we welcome back Justin Hawthorne from Up The Villa for the Opposition View. We talk to Justin about the secret of Emery's success this season? Which players have impressed? What's more important – a trophy or a top 4 finish? Can Villa win the league? And with Villa having had 12 days off, and Chelsea having played on Tuesday is it advantage Villa or Chelsea? With the league game in September being tight and Villa playing it cagey, can we expect more of the same on Friday night? Justin gives us his prediction. In part three we preview Chelsea v Aston Villa starting with JK's Presser Summary and Chidge's team selection. Will Chilwell start? Who drops out if Gallagher comes in? Can we be as clinical as Tuesday? We might not get many chances as Villa don't concede many. We wrap up discussing how do we see it going & give our predictions before another round of 'They Played for Both!'. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Dan Silver and Mark Meehan to look ahead to Tuesday night's Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Middlesbrough,In part one, Mark reports back from the Chelsea Pitch Owners AGM, held on Friday and discusses what was said and where next in a very important time for the Club and CPO with a stadium redevelopment or move in the offing. In part two we welcome back Dylan Polk from Carefree Louisiana to talk about their forthcoming annual 'Bluesday' event in New Orleans, centred around the Chelsea v Wolves match, his view on this season and a view on the American ownership from the US supporter's perspective. In part three we preview the Chelsea v Middlesbrough match starting with JK's summary of today's presser and Chidge's team selection. Will Boro target Colwill again – should Chilly start? What do we do up front given we need to win by 2 goals? Will Chelsea rise to the occasion like they did v Newcastle with a Wembley final and an incredible home record v Middlesbrough to uphold? It's genuinely massive tomorrow and kicks off a big 10 days for Chelsea with Boro in the Carabao Cup; Villa in the FA Cup and Liverpool in the Premier League. Will we find our way in to another Cup final and closer to another one or dip out of both in a week like we did 30 years ago? We wrap up with how we see the match going and our predictions. And on a sad final note, mark the passing of Tommy Baldwin, one of the King's of the Kings Road team of the late 1960's and early 1970's. Tommy was well loved by Chelsea supporters, was affectionately known as 'The Sponge' and was lauded with a brilliant song. Let's hope the Pearly Gates serenade him with a fine rendition of "His name is Tommy Baldwin, he's the leader of the team...". Farewell Tommy, thanks for the memories and Rest in Peace. Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Marco Worrall, Chelsea author and Gate 17 publisher to look back at Chelsea's 1-0 win over Fulham. In part one we discuss Chelsea's laborious first half AGAIN with too many touches and often poor ones; too slow in the build up and of course no idea how to hit the back of the net. Until referee Anthony Taylor shocked the entire world by awarding Chelsea a penalty at the end of the half, which Cole Palmer put away for his 9th goal of the season. The second half was much better with more energy, pressing and more direct with both Sterling and Gallagher hitting the post. But Chelsea couldn't kill the game off and the last 10 minutes was a shambles, aided and abetted by Taylor and Keystone Kops defending, with stupid free kicks given away, running into defenders and wrong passes. At least we cheered the hoofs up field as Chelsea eventually saw the game out, but it was stressful! In part two we praise Petrovic who was quietly impressive again. Should he be Chelsea's No.1 keeper? Enzo was more dynamic and Caicedo did good terrier like work. Colwill had a decent game albeit not suited to the left back role. Just as well Chilwell came on with 23 minutes to go, but replacing Sterling as winger not Colwill at left back! A win is a win albeit a marginally ugly one but are there genuinely signs of encouragement and improvement? The stats don't lie. And what was Frank Lampard sitting next to Todd Boehly all about? ; Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We also answer listener questions on a number of topics & go off on tangeants: -Thoughts on the very clear difference in wavelength Pochettino shares with his bosses? Captaining Gallagher, continued usage of Maatsen; both of which the hierarchy tried to push out? -Colwill at LB -Why can't we score goals & what's the issue? -Poch last to Christmas? -What needs to change? How do we pick up results? How many wins do we pick up with our run up to Christmas? -Why should we care? Until the next episode KTBFFH

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back at a horribly familiar defeat to Nottingham Forest. We discuss failing to finish AGAIN - although Chelsea played ok with creative intent, forward momentum, movement which is a change from last season, and Forest defended very well. Sterling was relatively poor and Gusto needs to learn how to cross; Jackson had a poor game but will get better or is he the new Salomon Kalou? We look at Pochettino's selection - he is playing 4 at the back not 3, but is Colwill a left back and is Chilwell a winger? Cole Palmer on his debut and Madueke looked good; Mudryk has a way to go yet; Enzo class and Caicedo improving. In part two we discuss what's the hate with Silva about? Would Pochettino consider a change in formation and selection – Sanchez: Chilwell, Silva, Disasi, Gusto/James: Enzo, Moises; Sterling, Palmer/Gallagher, Madueke; Jackson? With an average age of squad at 22.5 years the team has no experience at this level and it shows and will take time. With £1bn spent and no striker or creative midfielder and no tried and tested players is it a surprise we still find it hard to score? And we review the Transfer window - why are Clearlake going with youth rather than experience? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back on muggy 3-1 defeat away to West Ham.In part one we discuss another poor start, a great goal by Chukwuemeka and a poor penalty from Enzo, which arguably turned the match. Why didn't Jackson take it? And then a comedy of errors from Disasi and Colwill led to an Antonio scorcher which turned it in West Ham's favour. In part two we discuss whether Mudryk is being weighed down by expectations. Sterling gets the plaudits for a decent performance. Jackson impressed again but was out muscled by two giants, on his own and crowded out. Caicedo probably shouldn't have come on and unsurprisingly looked at sea and off the pace - not his fault. Pochettino needs to sort his system out and play the formation that best suits the players he has available. West Ham away was a reality check and it's going to take time to gel this team. Nick is joined by Jéssica Frota (@Je_Frota) as Chelsea's premier league season got under way with a 1-1 draw vs Liverpool thanks to Axel Disasi's debut goal. It was an encouraging performance as Chelsea came from a goal down to earn a point in Poch's first game. It was a shaky start but after that lots of players grew into it with Colwill, Enzo, Gallagher & Jackson singled out for praise. With Nkunku's injury worse than initially feared it's a blow & we discuss the impact that will have as well as the opportunity it opened up for Carney Chukwuemeka who slowly grew into the game. Robert Sanchez's debut is assessed as well as Kepa's seemingly imminent loan to Madrid with Jéss giving her verdict on who she'd like Chelsea to sign. Reece James & Ben Chilwell we're announced as captain & vice captains & we give our thoughts on that. The Moisés Caicedo saga is coming to an end, Jéss shares her excitement on his imminent arrival. A deal for Tyler Adams fell through which Nick isn't sorry about & finally Romeo Lavia could also join. That'd be nice. Finally we answer listener questions on: -Andrey Santos future -Who was our MOTM -Should attacking changes have been made earlier -What does Mudryk need to do to start over Sterling -Disasi & Colwill narrow at points, deliberate or mistake -3 key takeaways from game positive & negative Until the next episode KTBFFH

We all see communication disconnects between designers and builders every single day, so today we talk to one of our Dad's old work buddies, Chuck Colwill. Why Chuck? Because Chuck is an expert in the design-build approach that produces a much more nimble and efficient building team. Chuck's work with his firm, Colwill Engineering, is a great example of how to gracefully, creatively navigate the complications that come with supply-chain problems, bureaucracies, labor shortages, and other challenges. The firm's use of design-build helps them execute projects with impressive efficiency. They're prepared to handle all MEP work in a way that streamlines problem-solving. Here are some of the insights Chuck shares: -Everything goes more smoothly when there is early and active communication between designers of a project and those whose hands will be moving the physical pieces. -Early communication helps everyone. (You'll hear echoes of our discussion with Ernie Maschner.) -Whether it's generators or flex duct, unexpected supply-chain complications create problems that can be easily solved by a team who is equipped to formulate quick work-arounds. -Client expectations haven't changed much since Chuck and Dad Campbell were running together, so changing industry dynamics are forcing contractors to tighten up the process wherever we can. -Siloed organizations simply can't compete with the agility of a well-managed design-build company. -Design-build firms do have some unique challenges. For example, it's essential for their leadership teams to thoughtfully align the supply chains and manpower needs on multiple overlapping projects. In the megaphone moment, Chuck coins the term “three-bid-itis” to describe the mess that leads to the cheapest guy building the most expensive design. Chuck says the solution to this problem is to go open-book with subcontractors so that a general contractor can go with the person he or she trusts and then move forward with confidence that things will be done well. Crash, bang, wallop. What a victory! Cardiff City exercised their London demons by beating QPR at Loftus Road. It was the tale of two youngsters, Davies and Colwill, who turned the game on its head. Ministry often pulls pastors in between the two polar opposites, the fear of scarcity and the obsession with abundance. Over the last few years, our Presbytery has intentionally worked to cut through these debilitating narratives and come alongside pastors with a third way as alternative, cultivating a theology of enough. The Scriptures are saturated in stories, proverbs, psalms, and parables that remind us God has provided all we need to participate in the rhythm of life dreamed up in the very beginnings. Even Jesus' prayer teaches us to pray not for abundance, but daily bread. In the fall of 2020, yes, at the height of the pandemic, we received word that our application for a five-year, million-dollar grant through the Lily Endowment's Thriving in Ministry program was approved. We could not have been more grateful, aware that what we were imagining would especially serve our pastors in small churches, communities of color, and church plants/replants so very well as they navigated ministry in these especially trying and despairing times. The aim of the initiative will hinge or caring for clergy as whole people, to remind them they are enough and beloved children of God- not merely producers in this ecclesiastical machine. What follows is a conversation with the newly hired director of the program and longtime member of this presbytery, Rev. Sarah Colwill. You can read more about her on the website: https://presbyphl.org/cultivating-enough-in-the-care-of-clergy/
