Welcome to a new episode of Get Creative! In this episode, we're joined by Gwyn Wimmer, a Subto student who has found success in Airbnb investing near military bases, primarily on the East Coast. Gwyn shares her background, how she and her husband transitioned from the Army to real estate, and the strategies they've used to build a profitable Airbnb portfolio. Host Jordan Whittenburg guides us through Gwyn's journey, highlighting the challenges and opportunities she's encountered along the way. Highlights: "Half his job is therapy, and like hand holding, talking people through the process, calming them down." "We let the loan company know we had a baby. This house is too big for us. We can't handle it with the baby anymore, and they let us downsize our house with no questions asked." "I have a whole community of experts in these other strategies that will come in and help me." "I've been a part of other groups and things that it always felt like the goal of the creator was to step away as quickly as possible, and that is so not the vibe from Pace." BASS made a big announcement this week that there were no longer gonna be entry fees for the Elite Series anglers. Many, including myself, were quick to celebrate before looking further into the announcement. The payouts were decreased drastically and we sit down with current Elite Angler, JT Thompkins to discuss. We also discuss the recent adventures in the OIFC Fall Brawl king tourney, where JT joined Team Trilogy Outdoors/Marshall's Marine for the day. We were not rewarded with a winning fish, but had a great time with great friends. JT also shares ome tips on breaking down a lake for someone new to FFS and some great points to start at. Thanks to JT for taking the time and we wish him the best of luck in 2025 and during his offseason as he works to secure sponors for the next year. Years after closing due to a spate of suicides, The Vessel has reopened in New York City's Hudson Yards complex. What has changed and is it worth the entry fee?
Te Papa is going to start charging a $35 entry fee for international tourists starting next month. The national museum says it's because rising energy costs, insurance and paying staff is all becoming too expensive. The move's expected to bring in an additional $5-$10 million per year. Te Papa spokesperson Kate Camp told Heather du Plessis-Allan it will be good value for visitors. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Presented by Brand USA Episode Notes Authorities in Venice believe the roughly $5 entry fee it charges visitors has benefited the city. And a top tourism official told Skift Venice could raise the amount, writes Global Tourism Reporter Dawit Habtemariam. Simone Venturini, the city's deputy mayor for tourism, said the fee is part of Venice's strategy to preserve its beauty and pivot away from being “a cheap tourism capital.” Venturini added that everything has gone smoothly since the entry fee was implemented in April. He said the city is considering hiking it to roughly $10. Venturini said the entry fee mainly targets local day-trippers. He also disputed the notion that the majority of Venetians object to it, stating a protest that attracted 200 people didn't represent the views of most residents. Next, U.S. hotel demand growth is projected to slow down — even in the luxury sector, reports Senior Hospitality Editor Sean O'Neill. Data firms STR and Tourism Economics project a roughly 2% increase in average daily rates this year. That's down from a previous estimate of 3%. STR President Amanda Hite said hotel industry figures believe there isn't as much weekend demand for leisure as expected. Hite added she was surprised about the revised projection in the luxury segment. O'Neill notes the luxury sector faces greater risks due to a shift in the guest mix from leisure travelers toward more group bookings and business travelers. Finally, population shifts across the U.S. could drive vacation rental growth in certain markets, writes Reporter Elizabeth Casolo. AirDNA Chief Economist Jamie Lane said at the Skift Short-Term Rental Summit this year that the “mass exodus” of people from certain locations would impact where guests stay. Lane said that would result in people vacationing in entirely different markets, with Casolo citing Texas and Florida as states that have seen population growth. Lane added AirDNA had identified up-and-coming hot sports for vacation rentals. The four highest-ranked destinations AirDNA listed were all in Texas. Dogs Are Smarter Than People: Writing Life, Marriage and Motivation
I've been going through holes of Reels and short-form videos at night lately, watching people remodel their house or home, decorate for holidays, and then, um, being an Amazon affiliate. At the same time, a lot of the writers I work with are having BIG DOUBT MOMENTS as they query and read Twitter/X and see authors behaving badly or agents behaving badly or people getting yelled at for sucking at something. And they are scared. Now, there's one part of this in that you need to put stuff into perspective. Losing your reputation isn't the same as being in a war zone or in natural disaster or having someone violent in your own home, right? We act like it is though. Same thing about money. We act, sometimes, like it's the only thing that gives our lives value. We all need to unlearn that. What gives your life value is what YOU determine gives it value. That might be money if you're into that. It might be family. It might be friends or having a sense of purpose. The point is that YOU get to determine that, not society, not TikTok viewers or literary agents. When we go in to build or remodel or decorate a room, one of the most important questions is: What is the purpose of this room? What do I want it to feel like? What do I want to feel like when I'm in it? When we go in to build a scene of our story, we ask those same questions: What is the purpose of this scene? Is it to show conflict, move the plot forward, dive more deeply into character, make a new obstruction? And more importantly, what do I want the reader to feel? When we go in to build who we are as a person and our life, we can ask those same questions, too: What is the purpose of what I'm doing right now? What does my choice make me feel like? Who do I want to be here, right now, in this moment? Kind of amazing but simple, right? Who do we want to be? Are we making the choices to be that person? I've lost that a bit lately. But I've made a list to start getting that back. I hope you will, too! DOG TIP FOR LIFE Be the dog you want to be. WRITING EXERCISE This is from “What If,” which is a book of writing exercises. You can learn more about it here. “Image Notebook “Keep an image notebook and write down one image every single day by asking yourself “What's the most striking thing I heard, saw, smelled, touched, or tasted today?” PLACES TO SUBMIT Gemini Magazine Fourteenth Annual Poetry Open Contest. Hour 3: Does the play-in tournament have juice? Emmitt Smith likes plain pancakes, and possibly the greatest pitching performance ever
You often hear me say “a great product is only the entry fee to compete in today's CPG market”, but what's at the heart of that statement? The hard truth is that there have never been as many CPG brands and products as there are today. If you didn't realize that, the easiest way to experience this reality is to do a non-branded search on Amazon within some sizable CPG category. I guarantee you will be overwhelmed at the endless shelf of interchangeable substitutes. Regardless of the current “COVID-19 Effect” aided higher than normal barriers of entry, it's still relatively easy for interested entrepreneurs to enter almost all the CPG product categories, ultimately creating extreme levels of competition. Those low barriers of entry are a double-edge sword for entrepreneurs. The same ones that likely helped your CPG brand get products made with less investment or seen by more target consumers with less investment or offered for sale nationally with less investment are also the same ones that upstart competitors are using to fast-follow you. Having a unique product used to give you at least a few months of lead time over other players, but that advantage seems to matter less and less. In this context, how do you stay ahead of your competition when you know it's only a matter of time before they copy your best product features? The solution is having a solid strategic narrative. This is what I mean when I say, “it's what you build off that great product that determines the long-term winners.” A strategic narrative is a concept that enables brands to create a unique story that will guide their entire business activity. We also give tips on how to market this service to businesses. We finish by sharing the total earnings that Keith is projected to make from all his diversified income streams combined, and encourage you to look for and begin similar projects for yourself. Here’s a New Product Opportunity 12:27“The entry fee is reasonable, the value proposition is about cost savings as opposed to trying to extract dollars that you’re going to spend somewhere else, and number 3, is that this thing is designed to operate at about a 40 percent net margin.” 4:52Reach Out To Keith, Get Help and Resources: https://dincpie.com/

At Array Digital, we have an entry fee and what we call it is “fundamental Professional Services.” It's a group of services and products that we offer to every single one of our clients, it's non-negotiable, but it does have a fee so essentially it's an entry fee. We came up with this because we want to work with larger clients and this fee kind of pushes away the smaller clients who won't be able to justify working with us for just one service because these will be automatically added. It also allows us to offer a certain level of service and maintain profitability. Our professional services include our monthly calls and meetings, the software we use to track everything, the video reporting, creative services, a dedicated project manager, all bundled together. If we have a client that doesn't want to pay those fees will probably not be a fit for us because they won't see the value in these services while the larger clients we have love these services and don't even bat an eye at their price. Our entry fee right now is $375/month. Do you feel like you're wasting time and money with clients? If so, you may want to consider an entry fee as well. — Erik J.
