In our weekend recap episode, we discuss Cavalry FC's victory over Valour which clinched them a playoff spot. We also talk about USports action. The Dinos women drew Macewen to put an end to their perfect record. The Dinos men's team vaulted over the Cougars with a couple of wins while the Cougars could only get 1 point this weekend.Calgarian Willie Akio capped off his season playing in the Australian NPL state leagues this weekend. He scored a brace to lift his club to win their Grand Final. One common thread we noticed this weekend were all of the backflip celebrations. In the Cavalry match, both Goteh Ntiginee and Caniggia Elva wowed the crowd with their post goal celebrations. In Edmonton, Mykena Walker surprised the play by play person with a backflip after she scored. And Willie Akio also did his trademark backflip celebration in Australia.Subscribe to our Substack or follow us on Twitter/X or on Instagram or Bluesky. Our website is yycsoccer.com

Lymphoma in dogs is very responsive to chemotherapy, but it also often relapses. Each time a dog comes out of remission, the cancer often gets harder to beat. Because of this, researchers are constantly looking for new treatments that can either get long-lasting results from the start or be used to beat back the cancer in those difficult cases. Meet rabacfosadine, known by the brand name Tanovea. This drug is an injectable chemotherapeutic that just became the first ever FDA-approved treatment for lymphoma in dogs. Dr. Douglas Thamm, an oncologist at Colorado State University, has been working with Tanovea through most of its existence, and tells us all about how this drug came to be, how it works, and what we know so far about when it is most useful. Host of Donnie and Dhali, Rick Dhaliwal joined us and wanted to clear up that they in fact, don’t blame us for their twitch ban. After that he talked about what he heard from Jim Rutherford on a Toronto podcast. Talked about some of the guys that could be on the move. Not on the first tier, but the next level guys. Talked about why Canucks management is so upset about Garland rumours. Some sources say that it is out there and other say it is not. Rick reminds us that we are still 7 weeks out from the deadline. If it’s this crazy now, what will it be like then. Rick talked about how much time it takes to get up to speed for new executives coming from the eastern conference. Our Canucks reporter, Jeff Paterson joined us ahead of All-Star weekend. Jeff wondering why the game is on SAT at noon. Talked about what Rutherford said on a Toronto podcast. All the indications are that Jim is willing to do business. Unless this new FO has put its head together and said that it’s an off-season for almost all of the top players, this team isn’t good enough. Thinks Jim realizes that there is more to this job than meets the eye. Talked about Garland. JPat thinks the coaching change hasn’t worked for him. Rob Williams of the Daily Hive joined Matt and Blake for his weekly Friday social hit. Talked about Chiasson. He defended him from being a whipping boy by Canucks fans. Canucks fans blame him for MacEwen leaving. Rob talked about former Canucks that are playing in the Olympics. There will be 7 former players. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Rick Dhaliwal joined the show and started off chatting about Brock Boeser. Says he wouldn’t put Boeser in unless he is 100%. Just one little thing to get it past. They’ll hope for tomorrow but they are really hoping it can be this weekend. Talked about the back story with Zach MacEwen. He just couldn’t become an everyday player with Travis Green as the coach. Talked about about Abby is hunting high and low for players after losing a couple on waivers. Guys like MacEwen, Gadjovich and Lind were going to be familiar names in the Lower Mainland. That being said, Lockwood is there, Klimovich is there for now. Will need to monitor him in the next 2 to 3 weeks. Talked about broadcasting crews and the difficulties that go with travel in covid. Tacoma Tribune Seahawks Beat Reporter, Capt. Gregg Bell joined the show to set up the Seahawks game this weekend and started off by chatting about Geno Smith and his chances. It’ll be more difficult without a defence and Chris Carson. It’ll be the run game and defence that will decide the winner, not Geno. Chris Carson is highlighting the problem with guaranteeing money for running backs. This seahawks team is so flawed on both sides of the ball. They could have all of the greats at QB at one time but it doesn’t matter with all their short comings elsewhere. Gregg thinks RW3 will still be there on the sideline wearing pads and all that. Talked about the Kraken and how much he is enjoying hockey in Seattle. Canadian Men’s National Team Head Coach, John Herdman joined Matt and Blake to talk about the incredible run of form that he says has been a wonderful experience. To be able to get on the front foot at the Azteca. He knows they have the talent who have the license to get at it. Talked about the win vs Panama at home. It had a little bit of everything. Including goals, which is what people pay to see. Talked about the melee down in the corner and what happened. When one goes down everyone comes in. Talked about the Davies goal and the madness surrounding it. Just to see him do it at home was special. Coach says it’ll mean nothing if it doesn’t go. Talked about the next home game in EDM. Having Davies go back home with be inspiring. He has been there with 60K fans for the women. Talked about potentially coming to BC Place in January. Says that he can’t confirm or deny but he would love to. There is a lot that goes into picking venues, including travel of the team and incoming players. Sekeres & Price kicked off with a huge announcement as Matt and Blake welcome the Rink Wide - Post Game to the family. Hosted by Andrew Wadden and Jeff Paterson, they will have a podcast-only version for Canucks fans to consume. The guys roll through their thoughts on opening night, including a great game between Vegas and the debut of the Seattle Kraken. This week, we talk about lung surgery. it starts with Carlo Fornanini adding gas into the chest cavity, then doctors removing pus from the chest, even removing ribs to do it. Then, Willliam Macewen figures out intubation, and other folks bring us modern mechanical ventilators. We finally get around to neurosurgery this week. We have a whole lot of cameos, but also some new faces. Slowly but surely, doctors put together a rudimentary map of the brain and its function, and then we move to better and better actual operations. In modern times,we've got great imaging and diagnostic tools, and even interfaces with the brain directly. This week, we talk about plastic surgery, at least up until the World Wars. It starts with fixing noses, but through the work of many a doctor, we improve our skin grafts quite a bit. We'll also talk about bone grafts, and the work of William Macewen.
