A beer that was soo good that the only way Mason Ale Works could make it better was to stick it in a rye bourbon barrel and forget about it for 4 years! This edition of Barrel Aged Flat Black is so rare that there is only one keg to be found and it'll be at Urge Gastropub's Black Out event at the end of the month.
Rekindling a friendship forged in beer and hazy memories, Grant from Mason Ale Works joins Jeremy in studio for the first time since before the Pandemic! Kicking off a week of beers as the new stewards of the Gulls Blue Line Blonde Ale.

Welcome to 2024. We are here to drink some beer! Kicking off a new year is always exciting so full of hopes and dreams for amazing new beers to try. We start off with a new brewery called Mason Ale Works. Their nonsense fuel is a hazy DIPA double dry hopped with enigma, rakau, HBC 431 and HBC 586. A strong beer to start off the year. Tha's followed by Energy City Brewing Bistro Mango, Coconut and Banana Smoothie. This a Berliner-style weisse beer with the afore mentioned fruits. It's a fruit cocktail in a can. #beer #craftbeer #drinks #dipa #berlinerweisse #pastrysour
We visited Lemon City Tap House in Lemon Grove San Diego, CA. With special guest, Sassy from REC and attorney by trade BC, over some good beer from Mason Ale Works and 450 North Brewing Co. We discussed a wide range of topics like if the Superbowl was rigged, corruption, Hollywood, BC's personal legal battle and more. Also, we briefly talked on how Rob didn't follow an unwritten rule and it resulted in him getting his chain and shoes stolen. Cheers. Who's ready to conduct some science? Coley joins Flex and Greg as they figure out what she'll be drinking for a punishment beer, conduct science on two pickle beers, dig into some Beer Zombies, and try to find out why Mt. Dew needs a hard version.Flex kicks off the hydration with Nelson Revengeance, a Double IPA collab from Mason Ale Works and Beer Zombies Beer Co. Next, Greg and Coley conduct beer science on two pickle goses from Texas: Martin House Brewing's Best Maid Sour Pickle Beer and 903 Brewers Pickle Gose. We get down to important business: what is Coley's entrance music? We also have to address the fact that she and the Booze League have not paid up on their NBA Finals bet. We also are one step closer to knowing who left the voicemail for us last week, and a listener writes in to corroborate with Flex.Boston Beer is getting in bed with Pepsi for a Mt. Dew hard seltzer, but why? In addition, the FTC is investigating the partnership between GoPuff & Uber. And for another “but why?” story, Goose Island is releasing a cola version of Bourbon County. Thanks to Pennsylvania for this week's Ludacris Libation Law. Hint, it requires some driving around. Julio is an amazing dude, veteran, father, husband, and former MMA fighter. But you might know him best from his Instagram handle, @lasvegasbeersnob. This guy knows what's up in the Las Vegas beer community, having appeared at almost all of the most recent brewery openings, bartending at Servehzah on Main Street, and chugging plenty of beers along the way! This episode was a roller coaster. There are ups, where we are all having a blast, talking smack about baseball and beer. Then, there are some downs, when we dive into Julio's military service that has left him with PTSD and the challenges that come along with it. But the good news is that we all had a blast by the end while we enjoyed a beer with amazing can art and even better taste, Mason Ale Works (of course it's another San Diego brewery) Harry and the Sendersons Triple Dry Hopped Hazy Triple IPA with Citra, Mosaic, and Galaxy Hops! Random, right? But seriously when you’ve already caught the most ransom movie pick ever (Previous episode Harry and the Hendersons with Grant from Mason Ale Works!) it only feels right to follow those vibes. To bring the vibes we brought in esteemed brewmaster and friend of the program Benny Shirley from 10 Barrel Brewing to take us on the journey of road and sky to become Almost Famous.
Where to even begin on this one… Well, let’s start that we agreed to do an episode on Harry & The Hendersons out of our respect and love of Mason Ale Works and co-founder Grant Tondro. Grant told us awhile ago that an absolute monster of a brew was being made at Mason Ale Works, and wanted us to celebrate the beast with us: The triple IPA that is “Harry & The Sendersons”. While we sipped on this behemoth brew, we dove into the nostalgia of the bigfoot movie and debated if it stood the test of time. Does it? Grab a coldie, and join in on the fun! Thanks again to Grant and the Mason Ale Works crew!
HOP on our time machine as we recap the unprecedented game between the Saints and the Broncos. After just playing the Failcons two weeks ago, we discuss if we will see anything different this time around. Rants run aplenty during the show with Mason Ale Works in our cups.
2020 has had some solid surprises, most have been pretty terrible but surprises nonetheless! But Netflix making a solid horror film to close out the Halloween Season was quite the surprise. The other surprise was the years of therapy we will need from watching this rough but fresh take on the haunted house genre. Luckily we have friends that can help us grieve by drowning our sorrows! Uh, maybe not the best choice of words for this particular movie… The friend we brought along just so happens to be the owner of the infamous Mason Ale Works Grant Tondro. Most R&B faithful may know that when these guys show up in our neighborhood, we get drunk. Probably because they’re generous, and make extremely wonderful brews of which we got 3: Intergalactic Battle Mammoth, an extremely wild lager that matches its name; Jambi, the Mason Ale Works staple IPA; and Mosaic Revengeance, an IPA where the name really says it all.
This week “The Legendary Brew Crew” bring Award Winning Homebrewer and Artist, Philip aka Art & Ale, to the social distancing virtual happy hour. Grant Tondro is the co-founder of the 3 Local Brothers Restaurant Group, who operate a whole bunch of food and beverage outlets throughout Southern California. One of their venues is Mason Ale Works, a 15 barrel, or 18 hectolitre operation just North of San Diego, which is a craft beer hot spot in the USA. The Brewery is set inside an airplane hangar-like building that is home to a huge restaurant, a humongous bar, and an eight-lane bowling alley, with its own separate bar.Grant sat in his car in Las Vegas to record this interview, how is that for dedication. He shared some many great stories and insights on being "all-in" on craft beer, including:The story of their original brewer was faster at raising funds than them, and left to do his own thing before they could get started; butHow he helped them find his own replacement, who found his own replacement, who eventually stayed; The open and honest feedback they got that changed their entire beer menu; The plethora of collaboration options in San Diego; andBeating the Mexican breweries at their own game with a beer that was actually a mistake.Grant is a great story teller who was very generous with his time during the interview, and afterwards when our audio files got lost on the interwebs!https://www.facebook.com/BeerHealerhttps://www.masonaleworks.comhttp://www.3localbrothers.com/
Luke 20 and @masonaleworks Naughty & Nice - Jesus Asks Some Questions He Doesn't Need The Answer To We have a great show this week that is perfect with Christmas only three days away! Do you have your shopping done? Yea... me either. In Luke chapter 20 Jesus asks some questions and it's interesting that when he asks questions he really doesn't need information. It's almost like he's asking the question just to prove how foolish the issues were that the Pharisees and Sadducees we're trying to corner him on. They're just so petty and his responses are just perfect “Jesus” responses. @masonaleworks ask us the question: Do you prefer Naughty or Nice? Naughty is a rich Porter with peppermint and lactose that obviously hits with notes of peppermint, vanilla & the creaminess you’d expect from a lactose brew. Nice is it crisp, clean IPA that’s mildly bitter with a bright citrus punch. Both of these come in at 7% ABV. I picked these up when I was in @inclinespirits_cigars grabbing a brew for a buddy. If you guys live in Lake Tahoe area definitely stop in and see the folks @inclinespirits_cigars they're incredibly knowledgeable/hospitable and always happy to chat about beers, bourbons or any other spirits! You could say Jordan Peele has a charmed life. Hit TV show? Check. 2 out of the blue horror movies that are critically acclaimed and fresh takes on the genre? Double check. On top of that he’s re-making The Twilight Zone?! That’s one busy dude! So we don’t feel like lazy asses compared to Mr Peele, let’s chat about his latest offering 'Us' while having a coldie. We finally, FINALLY finished our Mason Ale Works stash with a blonde sour they call Bandit Queen: a very rare barrel aged delight that only 1500 bottles exist!
Prepare yourself for all the nostalgia porn your eyes and ears can handle when we get the most 80’s out movie since, well, an actual 80’s movie! Count and marvel at the easter eggs crammed into Bumblebee at your own peril, and maybe have some fun along the way. The beverages for this episode were provided by the always incredibly generous Mason Ale Works!, and man do they love getting us drunk. They transformed our tastebuds with 2 out of this world IPA variants: a red IPA called Charley Hustle, and a Brut IPA called ZFG: Blue Dream.
In this episode we tried our next selections from Craft Beer Club. We sampled Stop Work 689 a blonde Kolsch and He Ain't Hefe a hefeweizen from Straight to Ale and Willy Time white ale and Charlie Hustle, a red IPA, from Mason Ale Works. We talk about The Hollies, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and we get parenting tips from Cutter. More than 200 people remain missing, and the fire has scorched about 125,000 acres of land. At last word, the blaze was only 35 percent contained, with fire officials hoping for full containment by the end of November.Donations can be made via this link.https://www.goldenvalley.bank/Community-Foundation.aspx?utm_source=Media+Contacts&utm_campaign=958c0b8c7b-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_11_13_04_24&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_3f07999573-958c0b8c7b-318489661&mc_cid=958c0b8c7b&mc_eid=f6a216287d “The brewhouse is ramping up today to get inventories back to normal,” she wrote. “If necessary, our Mills River [North Carolina] facility is ready to increase production, but we don’t anticipate that need.”Blue Moon Creator Keith Villa’s First THC-Infused Beer is a Belgian-Style White AleKeith Villa, the legendary brewmaster who retired from MillerCoors earlier this year and launched Ceria, Inc., a cannabis company, is most known for creating the iconic Blue Moon Belgian-style wheat ale.So it’s only fitting that his first play in the cannabis-infused beverage space would be a de-alcoholized version of his popular brew.Called Grainwave, Villa’s first THC-infused non-alcoholic craft beer, a Belgian-style white ale, will hit Colorado dispensaries in mid-December.A 4-pack will sell for $36, according to the release, while single bottles will also be sold for $9 each.Colorado’s Fate Brewing Company Files for BankruptcyYet another small brewery has found itself in financial trouble. The parent company of Boulder, Colorado-based Fate Brewing Company, Fate Restaurants LLC, has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection.According to the November 1 filing, Fate owes more than 50 creditors between $1 million and $10 million. The company also claims between $1 million and $10 million in estimated assets.Fate Brewing founder Mike Lawinski, who owns 40 percent of the company, according to the filing, did not respond to requests for comment. However, he issued a statement to several Colorado media outlets attributing the bankruptcy to an inability to receive federal approval for a brewing operation located in the former Avery Brewing production facility in Boulder. He also cited an underperforming second brewpub location, which was seized by the city of Lafayette in mid-October due to unpaid taxes.San Diego Craft Brewers Produced More Than 1.1 Million Barrels in 2017San Diego County craft brewers produced more than 1.1 million barrels of beer in 2017, up about 22 percent from 2016 levels, according to an economic impact study conducted by the San Diego Brewers Guild and California State University San Marcos’ (CSUSM) Office of Business Research and Analysis. The total economic impact of the craft brewing industry in San Diego County increased from $870 million in 2016 to more than $1.1 billion last year, according to the study, titled “Economic Impact of Craft Breweries in San Diego County Report.” The study also found that more than 130 San Diego-based breweries generated about $802 million in revenue last year.Much of the industry’s economic impact in the county is derived from breweries in five cities — Carlsbad, Escondido, Oceanside, San Marcos and Vista — along Route 78 within the so-called “78 Corridor,” such as Stone Brewing, the Lost Abbey/Port Brewing, Belching Beaver, Rip Current and Mason Ale Works, among several others.News Courtesy of Brewboundhttps://www.brewbound.com/newsSubscribe to Craft Beer Storm Podcast iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/craft-beer-storm/id1438117278?mt=2Michael Potorti is the Host of Craft Beer Storm and Founder/Brewer at Beara Brewing Co. in Portsmouth, NHMichael PotortiFounder/BrewerHost of "Craft Beer Storm" Podcastmichael@craftbeerstorm.commichael@bearairishbrew.com*** Come visit our brewery for some delicious local craft brew! ***Beara Brewing Co.2800 Lafayette RoadPortsmouth, NH 03801www.bearairishbrew.com Like us onInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/bearairishbrew/?hl=enFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/BearaIrishBrewingCo Twitter: https://twitter.com/BearaIrishBrew Linked In: https://www.linkedin.com/in/beara-brewing-co-30776075/**LISTEN to our Craft Beer Storm Podcast and share with a friend**Craft Beer Storm Podcast iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/craft-beer-storm/id1438117278?mt=2Craft Beer Storm You Tube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp3PVuCGmywNWlGFh0N0ukg?view_as=subscriberCraft Beer Storm Podcast Radio Public: https://radiopublic.com/craft-beer-storm-WdbK0LCraft Beer Storm Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/craftbeerstorm/Craft Beer Storm Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/craftbeerstorm/

An evening of beverages with Grant from Urge Gastropub & Mason Ale Works
Season 2, Episode 25 – This week we’re at the ever-so-awesome Urge Gastropub in Rancho Bernardo, San Diego. This week, we’re still in San Diego, California at our third stop, Urge American Gastropub. This show is a bit of a deviation from our normal shows in that Urge isn’t a brewery, but rather an awesome beer-geeky pub and restaurant. Anna, Hidden Barrel Peche, and Cable Car Ale Urge [bURGEr] Gastropub was founded in 2010 by owner and proprietor Grant Tondro and Zak Higson. Grant comes from a family of restaurant owners, and is a huge beer geek. Urge boasts 51 taps of craft beer, and an insane bottle list that even the geekiest beer geek would drool over. We kick off the show with a beer that’s pretty much impossible to get in Southern California, Anna from Hill Farmstead Brewery. Urge is a restaurant after all, so naturally we’re gonna have some food on the show. Grant whipped up an awesome spread for us that included a few different burgers and some beer cheese fries. It’s all awesome stuff–Urge is no joke. Grant Tondro, General Manager & Proprietor, Urge Gastropub The other beers on the show include a peach sour named Hidden Barrel Peche from AC Golden (yup, Coors), a 2015 Cable Car Ale from The Lost Abbey, and a pint of 2015 YuleSmith Summer from AleSmith Brewing Co.. #Whalezbro indeed… Inside the Coldbox at Urge Gastropub Grant has plans to open a brewery in Oceanside, California in late 2015 named Mason Ale Works, with Mike Rodriguez (formerly of The Lost Abbey and Boulevard Brewing) at the helm. Keep your eyes open… Urge Gastropub is a great spot with delicious food, awesome brews and a great atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out the next time you’re in the area. BREW THE SHIT OUT OF IT.
