Now with a reputation as one of the most innovative bands of the 21st century, constantly pushing the boundaries of improvisation and the styles they draw from, Snarky Puppy's 20 year back catalogue includes 16 albums, and five Grammy wins. Outside of the band, Michael has shared his production and writing talents on records from David Crosby, Becca Stevens, Varijashree Venugopal and many more. Michael League is the creator and bandleader of instrumental music ensemble Snarky Puppy who will headline tomorrow night at The 46th annual Freihofer's Saratoga Jazz Festival, taking place this weekend at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. As a sophomore in college, Michael formed the ensemble Snarky Puppy as producer, primary composer, and bandleader. The group has earned three Grammy Awards and played over 1500 concerts on six continents.

Since 2004, Michael League has remained Snarky Puppy's one constant. For every album and every show, the bass player has been there to help shape the amorphous jazz collective. Empire Central is a rare concept album of sorts – a musical homage to Dallas, the city near the University of North Texas, where the band began life. The area is now half a world away from Spain, where League now calls home.
