The UK is in danger of violating international agreements on restoring nature, according to The Wildlife Trusts. It says the upcoming COP 16 on biodiversity is a crucial chance for the Government to demonstrate how it will meet targets to halt and reverse the decline of nature by 2030. As the grape harvest gets underway, we take a deep dive into a growing UK farm sector - viticulture. There are more than 10,000 acres of vines grown across the UK, and that area is expanding. Recent data shows more than 80 new vineyards opened in 2023 - bringing the total number to more than a thousand for the first time. And where has all the organic skimmed milk gone? Our listeners wanted to know...so we found out.Presented by Charlotte Smith Produced by Heather Simons

Bluetongue disease continues to affect livestock across England, and into Wales. The virus, which can be fatal to sheep, is transmitted by biting midges, which breed in warm temperatures. Over the last few weeks, DEFRA has increased the areas where animal movements are restricted. We speak to a breeder in Suffolk whose pedigree flock is under lockdown because of the restrictions. He's been unable to sell his rams at market and has criticised the government for not tackling the disease sooner. He feels he should be compensated. Defra says it's taking prompt action to mitigate the spread of the disease. All week we're discussing wine, and in England, sparkling white wine has been going from strength to strength. That's attracted interest and investment from one of the world's best known Champagne houses. Taittinger has opened a vineyard near Canterbury in Kent and will soon be bottling its first wine from there. Listeners have told us they can't get hold of semi skimmed organic milk in the supermarket. We speak to a dairy consultant to find out why. Presenter = Anna Hill Producer = Rebecca Rooney

This week Charlotte Smith looks into the pressures food producers are facing - despite the rapid rise in food prices. From pork and vegetables to organic dairy, farmers say the costs they are facing are outweighing the amount they are being paid. How much consumers should expect to pay for food was the topic for panellists of a digital conference organised this week by the The Rural Policy Group. It is a think tank set up to campaign for better representation of agriculture in politics. Speakers at the conference discussed what things reinforce consumers expectation of low-priced food, and how that could be changed in order to make pricing fairer for all. And we delve into the world of a still relatively niche farm animal - the goat. From a herd of 250 goats in the hills of Cumbria, and semi-wild goats being tracked in north Devon, to the pomp and pageantry of the King's Proclamation. There are fears Organic dairy farmers will leave the sector as they say the rising cost of production isn't being reflected in the price they're paid for their milk. Since the cost of production has risen, farmers have been getting much higher prices for dairy, but some who run Organic productions say their margins have risen even more - and that is not being taken into account. A new study suggests converting livestock farms into arable could see regular crops fail to grow. The study from Rothamsted Research and SRUC looked at land in the South West of England to see what might happen as society shifts towards more plant-based diets. And as we continue our week talking about goats, our reporter visits farmer Nicola Knott, who has developed a business selling rare types of goats for breeding. Episode SummaryNow imagine you are at the grocery store in the milk section. You have many choices from organic to non-organic, and non-dairy alternatives. Which do you reach for? Whether you are drinking milk from dairy cows or the dairy alternative, like soy, almond, or oat, the action tip for today's episode is to reach for the organic option always. Even better, reach for the organic option that comes from small-scale dairy farmers like one of my favorite brands, Organic Valley. Right before I recorded this podcast episode, I looked up the price for a half gallon of conventional or non-organic milk and the organic variety, specifically Organic Valley. The price difference was $2.00. And the difference in price between conventional milk and organic soy milk was 0.75.What you gain in that .75 cents to 2.00 more you pay for organic milk is huge. At the individual level, paying the extra money means your glass of milk will not contain, trace chemicals from pesticides. Nor will you be drinking down growth hormones or antibiotics, both practices are restricted in organic certified food. But why does that matter? In this episode, I will examine a few of the differences (there are many others I will discuss in future episodes.) I mention the following study in the episode. Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Coty:  Hi Dr. Cabral, your Podcast have quite literally been a life changer for me. I wanted to know your take on sarms and weight training. Their inital creation was for medical issues such as bone loss, mucsle dystrophy amongst other things. But applied to healthy diet coupled with 3-4 days a week in the gym, at very low dosages they been shown to have intense muscle mass gain and retention, increased endurance, and fast recovery/joint health. Sorry for such a drawn out question but I am interested to hear your unique insite on the subject. Thank you :) Diana: I love your show. I just found it a few weeks ago and have been catching up on older episodes, but it’s certainly not something I can do in a weekend. I just finished listening to a different podcast series on candida, which shall remain nameless because I have major issues with how the alternative medicine professional who made it represents all traditional medicine professionals as quacks. In this podcast, the person stated that ALL antifungal medications (they never said whether herbal supplements were included in this term) cause candida to switch from a yeast to a fungus, which is the harmful opportunistic form. The only way to combat fungal candida, according to them, is to take undecylenic acid (specifically 10-undecenoic acid rather than the salt form calcium undecylenate) to encourage candida to revert to its yeast form. All other fatty acids, including monolaurin, are in some ways antagonistic to candida and will force it into its fungal state. I’ve also read conflicting opinions about whether candida can acclimate to herbal antifungals or not. Some say herbs merely discourage candida rather than killing it so there’s no possibility for adaptation; others say candida can get used to herbs and will form a resistance against them so it’s necessary to cycle the supplements. I’d like to hear your thoughts on this. Obviously you believe in the herbal approach and also include undecylenic acid in your protocol (I think I’ve listened to the episode where you explain your protocol at least 4 times already). It’s been difficult to find reliable information explaining HOW herbal antifungals work and even harder to find an explanation about undecylenic acid. Thanks for everything you do, and if I can get through the day without having to type “undecylenic acid” again I’ll be very happy. Anton: Hello! I am really interested in alternative medicine, I live in Sweden and here we don't have any big titles in functional medicine. Everything that isn't conventional medicine is "alternative" and the only thing that is kind of accepted the non-conventinal way is chiropractic, massage and TCM. So my question will be; My dream is to be an ND (or something similar) and open a clinic like yours and help people in the alternative medicine way. I feel I little lost how to make it here in Sweden, Is the only option to move to Canada or US to get the ND degree, and start my clinic there? Thanks for all the valuable information, I use you as my Life-coach, you are my idol! Em: Hi Dr. Cabral, I suddenly have really bad allergies. Is there a cure for this? Don't want to rely on allergy medicine forever. Thanks! Judy: Is there a natural way to prevent motion sickness when in a car or plane? Also what are things I can do or take once I have the symptoms such as nausea, dizziness or headaches? Angela: Dear Dr. Cabral, My 9 month old has developed flushed red cheeks over the last two weeks. They have began to get a little scaly and very dry. The Dr said it was eczema and I am so upset and lost as to how it happened as I follow most good health principles. For example: - he was born vaginally, naturally with no drugs - We allowed the vernix to sit for a week - whole plant foods were introduced at 6 months - We eat almost 100% organic produce - We eat limited amounts of pasture raised, organic meats and wild caught fish like sardines and salmon. - We drink spring water - We use limited soap, only a little organic body wash every few days. - We give him Epsom salt baths once a week - The house is cleaned chemical free with vinegar etc - Clothes are washed with soap nuts and vinegar - we give him nude time in the sun on the grass each day to help his vitamin d levels I am beyond frustrated as I feel like I am doing everything by the book and yet he has still gotten eczema. The things that I think may have contributed to this are: - He was mixed fed from about 2 weeks old because he kept losing weight when I exclusively breast fed (I have insufficient glandular tissue) and I was able to mix feed between breast milk and organic cows milk formula for only 6 months. Now he gets all his milk from organic cows milk formula. - I make home-made milk kefir and he has some most days. I was giving it to him for a probiotic but am not sure if this created the problem. I have since stopped feeding it to him but there has no change in his skin as yet. I was hoping you could give your very valued opinion on what I could do to help my little boy. Host Doug Stephan shares news about the skyrocketing demand for Organic Foods and Organic Milk, and how Government agencies are trying to set the standards. Next, Doug meets Lydell Steiner of TILMOR http://www.tilmor.com. TILMOR is fourth-generation family farm (certified organic since 2006), with more than 50 years of experience designing and manufacturing turf and agricultural equipment. While operating the farm, they needed reliable, appropriately-sized, affordable tools and equipment for their smaller acreage—and they couldn’t get them. Agricultural equipment manufacturers were focused on large, industrial farms, and they were left with purchasing and trying to maintain older equipment. That is how TILMOR was born. Today, they are committed to developing tools and equipment that are designed, built, and distributed for the farmers who are supplying our communities with the fresh, locally-grown goodness we’ve come to know and love. Next, Doug shares a little poem about Dairy Farming and then he opines about a new Dairy Product, DAIRY BEER.

Q. How does Soil Deficiency affect what we eat in the Plant kingdom?  A.  Don explains a little bit about the history behind this, the 20 year Experiment they did and points out the false information given.  Plants don't eat dirt.  They Synthesise from Sunlight and the uptake of Solubility of Water, and they synthesise everything they need. They make Iron, Magnesium and everything they need from sunlight and water. It's not the dirt they eat.  There are organisms in the dirt that stimulate Electrical Force that can assist it to grow.  Water Mineralises itself from Sunshine, as do Plants and Humans.  It's like Parasites in our Body are not the problem, their there to clean up the Rot, Decay and Crud that there feeding and breeding in. The rot and decay are the problem. Through Fasting and other things, the parasites will leave because they don't like the Environment. In 1998 a Published study in USA alone, identified over 26,000 kinds of dirt. They found out that every kind of dirt doesn't want to grow what you decide to plant in it.  Therefore, if something you plant doesn't grow, move it to another place, it will most likely be another type of dirt and it should grow just fine.  To find out more, jump in and do some studies about the New Soil Sciences. Q.  How do we avoid Dental work and Root Canals?  A.  If it's a minor tooth ache use Essential Clove Oil (a natural analgesic) put it in the palm of your hand, rub it and put it on the gum and around the tooth. One of the biggest problems with Tooth Enamel and Receding Gums is brushing your Teeth.  So stop brushing your teeth. According to the Principles of Natural Dentistry you should take a cotton cloth, put the cloth around your finger, wet it, then rub Vegetable Glycerin soap on it, wash your teeth and tongue with it then rinse it out.  If it's something more serious, like you need a Root canal, search Google for Natural Dentistry (dentists who understand the teeth and it's relationship to the Spine and the Brain) and they can answer the questions that you have.  Q. With having Ulcerative Colitis in the large Intestine, what can you eat that isn't harsh on the system and what do you recommend for high Mercury Toxicity?  A.  The best way to go is making 60-70% of your diet Fermented foods. Buy any kind of Mucilaginous foods, things like Whole Flaxseed and Okra. Add Extra Virgin Oil to everything you are eating so the oil is used as a lubricant that is Nutritional. Salt will also correct the Lesions and Ulcerations. Each morning drink   1L of Water with 1 heaped tablespoon of Sea salt. Eat Raw food that is smooth, without a lot of fibre which can also help to alleviate the condition. Add olive oil, salt and lemon juice to high fibre content foods.  In 2-3weeks you will be more comfortable and Healing will take place. There's a meal that targets Ulcerative Colitis and Prostate Cancer.  Eat this meal every morning for breakfast: Prepare the night before - 2 cups of un-cooked rolled Oats, 1 tablespoon of Flaxseed and 1 tablespoon of Wheatgerm and squeeze Lemon juice on top of it.  The next morning add a little Apple juice or Organic Milk to moisten it before eating. By doing this you can typically Remise the problem within about 90days.  To help further remise, eat 2-3 handfuls of Raw Brazil Nuts everyday. Brazil Nuts have a Nutritional Component, called Selenium, and they have the highest Naturally occurring Selenium of any nut or seed they have ever studied. A young man fights to figure out what's best for his brothers future health and well being.  Don explains that you "Can not Serve Two Masters" as you are going to create a constant Chaos.  There can only be one path. It is a choice he gets to make. A principle of the ancient world was 'The First shall be Last, and the Last should be First'.  This is how Disease comes upon you and how it Remises.  It's a Truest Truth, that's the way it is. If you have a Lesion, Ulcer or bed sore, put Salt or Raw Honey on the wound and it will Heal everything up and be gone within 1 month. The problem is that Truth that is Free has little to no Value to most people. Unless you pay for it you don't think your getting value.

Q.  How can you avoid taking Nexium and what Fruit and Vegetables are best to avoid Heartburn?  A.  If you really want to heal the damage that has been done, and to get rid of the Medicinal Residues that the Nexium has left in your body, then you need to go on 1. a Diet of Apples and Water for 14days 2. a Diet of Fermented foods (It will be tough, but it's better than having a heart attack, having a stroke or some other problem) or 3. Organic milk, Aged Cheese with Vegetable Enzymes, Live Cultured Yogurts, Kefirs, Sauerkraut, Apple Cider Vinegar with a bit of Honey and Lemon in it, and this will Re-establish the gut. Honey is a very very Healthy, brilliant Nutritional Component of mother nature.  Our first bite of food is what the ancients thought to be an Offering and called 'The Widows Mite' which basically stands for 'Less is More'. You should always chew your first bite into liquid form before gulping down the rest of it.  Same goes for liquids, if you swish your drink in your mouth before you swallow it, it is a prefatory affect of electrical frequency that sets the body up for whats to follow. Fruit acids (apples and lemons) cause the body to Produce Alkaline, if you just eat things that are alkaline then the body has to Over Produce Acids to Digest it, this can cause Reflux and Ulcerations. Meat is alkaline, so your body has to produce a lot of acid to break down meat. Don shares about a baby he helped at the age of 2 1/2 yrs old, that couldn't walk or talk because it had never Consumed any Whole foods or been given Water. It was just fed junk food.  We should Drink good Organic Milk. Don's realised that we have Lost the very phrases of a 'Land of Milk and Honey'. The land of our Inheritance. Milk and Honey used to be mixed and Consumed in a very special Time of year. It was a Drink of the Gods which they believed lead to Health and Reconstruction. Q.  After taking a course of Antibiotics and Nasal sprays from Flu symptoms, I have lowered my Immune system and now it reoccurs often. How can I get my System Naturally back on track?  A. If you Eat Sweets with Meat there's a Fermentation and Rot that takes place so fast that your body wants to puke, have the runs and develop fevers.  This usually happens at Holiday Seasons so Avoid eating dead animal with sweets, and you will Avoid the flu!  A Flu is all Functional Systems of your own Physiology trying to get rid of an Extreme Offence, it's not from a bug that floated through the air. If you go on Raw Food and Drink Water for 28days, you won't have the Flu or Recurrences or any kind of Infections. A Flu is a Functional Disorder of the Body trying to throw out an Offence that has been taken in by you.  It was finally later admitted that the swine flu vaccine was what actually killed over 100,000 people.
