"His count of enchanted objects had diminished by one." This is a line from The Great Gatsby. It was also an answer to one of the many questions I asked Patrick. As I told him in the interview, I can't believe I have waited this long to have him as a guest. He's a teacher of 27 years, a "retired" very accomplished ultra runner and coach, and he weaves great motivational sayings and literary quotes throughout his conversation. This makes for a really enjoyable and educational chat. While this is the final installment of my series on backyard ultras, we spend probably less than half the time discussing them. Patrick won the Death at Dupuis a few years ago and at the time his performance put him in a position to represent at Big's Backyard. So, we do discuss those experiences among many other races. We cover his 2 races that he directs, which are Gate 2 Gate and Last of the Felascans and he also shares some great tips for flatlanders looking to do well in mountain races. Screen Boy: Everyone Should Have a ChanceBy: Matthew Patrick GallagherMatthew is a true believer of people, the world, love and dreams. As the father of four children he looks at the world from a child's eye. Screen Boy is the story of what we are doing wrong. Chance is the Dog that comes to fix it.Screen Boy is a book about a young man that gets caught up in the world of technology and gaming and loses his friends, his athleticism, and his priorities. He realizes one day that he is lost in screens and a virtual reality and the only one left to save him is his trusty dog. Screen Boy is the sign of the times for children and parents these days as they see their kids spending hours on their phones and gaming devices—so the story is very relevant and interesting. Moreover, it is the actions taken by the boy and the dog to correct the situation that is the real message, as Screen Boy rises from his despair and gains focus toward his goal of getting active again and being a respected athlete to his family and friends. Readers of Screen Boy should take with them the message that the iPhone they carry should not own them, and that they can own their destiny, and that with hard work and unconditional love one can do anything.Matthew Patrick Gallagher is an American author, entrepreneur, and thirty-year veteran of the Information Technology business. Among his works in the writing world, Matthew released Screen Boy “Everyone Should Have a Chance” in May of 2022. Screen Boy is Matthew's first published book, although he has written many which will be released over the next few years. Screen Boy was expected to be a great hit and has exceeded expectations. The sequel to Screen Boy, which is Screen Boy “No matter What I am getting my Chance,” will be released in the summer of 2023. In addition, also expected in 2023/2024 is the beginning of a series of books entitled The Adventures of Two Wheel and his Four Wheeling Family. In 2027 the World can expect Matthew's first novel, which he started writing in 2020 during the pandemic – it will be a unique take on one of the world's most difficult topics, told in the story of two young women and a very confrontational piece.https://www.amazon.com/Screen-Boy-Everyone-Should-Chance-ebook/dp/B0B1J9L1V5/ref=sr_1_1?crid=20K7HTUAEMKUH&keywords=screen+boy+everyone+should+have+a+chance&qid=1686007973&sprefix=screen+boy+everyone+should+have+a+chance%2Caps%2C109&sr=8-1https://matthewpatrickstories.com/http://www.KingPagesPress.comhttp://www.bluefunkbroadcasting.com/root/twia/6823kpp2.mp3

The southern portion of the race will follow the yellow trail loop through to the western portion of the park with great trails, including some decent hills. Then the course takes the runners on a lesser-known trail connecting runners back to the biking trails on the north end of the park to the start.

Here we are with Part Two of the 2022 Keys 100! This episode kicks off with Lucien "Mr Hot Chocolate" Boulet, this year he finished in a time of 31:07:07. Last year he ran a time of 27:58:04, however, with the time this year being slower... the journey was different, and that journey is what the true success was! He was also crewed by his amazing kids! After Lucien, I am joined by Patrick Gallagher, Matt Moss, Kalo Axsom, and Nels Matson! As Gallagher has done races like the Western States 100, the Barkley Classic, and Croom Zoom...this was his first Keys 100. He knocked it out of the park with a time of 25:04:22! As for Nels Matson, he followed Gallagher going 25:40:41. Nels was running in training for his run across the United States for Project Campbells Call. Kalo Axsom of the O-Town Blazers finished in 29:00:19 followed up by Matt Moss with a time of 29:04:15. These guys did AMAZING!!! They overcame the tough conditions; the humidity, the heat, the hot pavement and cement... a huge physical victory, but also a moral victory. Shoutout to Bob Becker, Mark Cudak, all the course marshals, volunteers, crews, and runners! You make this happen!

In October of 1946, a chiropractor and rancher named Willis "W.D." Broadhurst was beaten with a wrench and finished off with a shotgun on a lonely eastern Oregon road. Investigators would soon accuse his wife Gladys of plotting the doctor's murder with the help of his young cowhand and her lover, Alvin Williams. Stunning details of her deception would be revealed during the trial, including accusations that she was a bigamist who had left multiple husbands in her wake. My guest is Patrick Gallagher, whose family connection to this story led him on a personal journey to learn more about this compelling and mostly forgotten case. His book, titled " 'TIL DEATH DO US...': A True Crime Story of Bigamy and Murder" is available for purchase here: https://www.amazon.com/TIL-DEATH-DO-US-Bigamy/dp/1952225167/

Ps. Dokumentären vi nämner i podden heter The Social Dilemma (2020) och finns bl a på Netflix. Patrick Gallagher Patrick is obsessed with behavioral economics and its implications across every level of business and marketing. Every day he works to integrate those insights into his clients’ businesses and their lives. Our goals invariably are focused around driving more traffic, better conversions, and higher revenues, but what he really wants is for the people that work with him is the same thing that he wants for himself: a systematized business, built on unfair advantages, that provides autonomy and time freedom. https://gridpane.com/
My special guest tonight is author Patrick Gallagher who's here to discuss his new book called 'Til Death Do Us'. In August 1945, Gladys Lincoln of Sacramento contacted prosperous Dr. W. D. Broadhurst of Caldwell, Idaho, and rekindled a romance from twenty years earlier. After many passionate letter exchanges and several sexually-charged meetings, they were married in Reno, Nevada on May 20, 1946. After a passion-filled three-day weekend together, the doctor returned to his home in Idaho, and Gladys returned to Sacramento … and to her husband, Leslie Lincoln! But Gladys was much more than a bigamist. Gladys needed something even she didn't understand. She married her first husband when she was 20, and her second husband only 14 months later. The second marriage lasted only two years, the third less than 16 months. Leslie Lincoln was her fifth, and Dr. Broadhurst became her sixth. But what desperate need drove her to go from marriage to marriage? Then what dark mindset moved her and her young cowboy chauffeur to commit murder? Find out in ‘TIL DEATH DO US…' the gripping new true crime from WildBlue Press author Patrick Gallagher, whose grandfather was Gladys' lead defense attorney during her sensational trial.
