The John Gioffre Memorial Golf Classic, held in 2024 at the prestigious Westchester Hills Country Club in White Plains, was a poignant and meaningful event, going far beyond just a day of golf. This annual gathering serves as a tribute to John Gioffre, a man who profoundly impacted the lives of those around him. Despite his passing over 25 years ago, John's legacy continues to thrive, particularly through the John Gioffre Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded annually to deserving scholar-athletes at Port Chester High School (PCHS), where John's influence remains deeply felt. The scholarship was established shortly after John's death to honor his dedication to education and athletics, and it helps young students pursue their goals. John's legacy is cherished not just by his immediate family—his sons John Jr. and Zaccary, his daughter-in-law Melissa, his granddaughters Jane and Daria, and daughter-in-law Kat—but by the entire Port Chester community, where he made a lasting impact. The golf tournament has become a critical fundraiser for this scholarship, providing much-needed support to the next generation of student-athletes at PCHS. In addition, the proceeds from the tournament also go toward supporting local causes that John was passionate about, ensuring that his values of giving back and community engagement continue to shape the area. During the event, Westchester Talk Radio's Jim Feldman had the honor of speaking with Dwight "Doc" Gooden, former NY Mets pitcher, about the importance of community, philanthropy, and supporting the next generation of leaders. Gooden, who has seen his own journey from the baseball field to giving back to others, shared his thoughts on the meaningful impact of the John Gioffre Memorial Golf Classic and the role it plays in continuing John's legacy.
The John Gioffre Memorial Golf Classic, held in 2024 at Westchester Hills Country Club in White Plains, was more than just a day on the greens. It was a celebration of a man whose life made a profound and lasting impact on those who knew him. Although it has been over 25 years since his passing, John Gioffre's legacy continues to thrive, particularly through the John Gioffre Memorial Scholarship. Each year, this scholarship is awarded to outstanding scholar-athletes at Port Chester High School (PCHS), where John once had a deep and lasting presence. The scholarship helps deserving students pursue their dreams, just as John did in his own life. John's memory is kept alive not only by his immediate family—his sons John Jr. and Zaccary, his daughter-in-law Melissa, his granddaughters Jane and Daria, and his daughter-in-law Kat—but by the entire community of Port Chester. The annual golf tournament serves as a major fundraiser for the scholarship, providing financial support to the students of PCHS while also benefiting other local causes that John would have wholeheartedly supported. During the event, Westchester Talk Radio's Jim Feldman briefly spoke with Jack Gioffre, John's cousin.

The team collaborated with animal psychologists and veterinary surgeons, analyzing 80 birds and around 200 hours of chicken sounds. The findings have implications for animal welfare, veterinary medicine, poultry farming conditions, and human-animal interaction. They also plan to create a free app for farmers to communicate with their chickens using this technology. Wow Paulding County you can now use AI to talk to your chickens!!!! When the seizure started and we recognized after a minute or so that this was not a typical one for her (she had a history is seizures) we immediately started loading her up to get her to the emergency vet closest to us which is Westside Animal Emergency. They turned us away. Despite us having a dog actively seizing non-stop they turned us away saying they were “at capacity” and too busy. By this time the seizure was into the 20 minute mark. Our only choice at this point was to drive another 30-40 minutes away to Blue Pearl in Marietta. I called them and let them know we were coming and how long at that time the seizure had been going. We got there and they rushed out the door to help us. Within a minute or so we were with the vet telling us the seizure had gone on so long that it had raised Lulu's body temperature to at least 109 because that is as high as the thermometer would go. Her seizing for almost an hour caused the temperature spike. At this point the vet felt while they could try to stabilize her and see if there was permanent brain damage but I knew the chances of Lulu making any meaningful recovery were almost non-existent. A fever that high plus the seizure made recovery impossible so we had to make the best choice for Lulu and let her be at peace. I say all of that to say, IF Westside EMERGENCY Animal clinic had done their job and taken in a true EMERGENCY within the first minutes of the seizure, I wonder would we still have Lulu with us today? Instead, we came home to an empty bed that was Lulu's. Her doggie siblings are looking for her. Her human sister, dad and I are just heartbroken without our sweet pup. I have nothing positive to say about Westside. We have never heard anything good about them and now I know why. I attempted to use them only because they were closest to us and time was critical. I even called our vet today and told them how we were treated. If you live in our area and ever need an animal ER, go anywhere but Westside. The staff at Blue Pearl was amazing, loving and loved on Lulu with us as she was passing. They petted her, stroked her paws and talked to her right along with us. They are what a true animal ER should be and I am so grateful they were there and willing despite how busy they were.” These are your responses from actual Paulding county citizens - as reported on Whats Happening Paulding County Kacie Ignacio from Dallas “This is horrendous… I am SO SORRY for your loss. “ Lynn Tyler Nemzer from Dallas “I'm so sorry

Harmanjit Khakh cannot be described by a traditional title because he prefers to be defined as someone whose purpose is to exude, live and spread positivity. Apart from being a dope/talented individual, Harman places more of an emphasis on understanding your emotional intelligence, and realizing that what you give power to affects the outcome of your day. Harman's enlightened thinking and desire to help people caused him to pursue his current program at McMaster University in Addictions Education with a focus on Psychological Counselling in hopes to become a licensed counsellor in the near future. Born in Etobicoke, Ontario but raised in Brampton, Harman was drawn to sports which not only allowed him to be a diverse athlete, but more importantly taught him about discipline, sacrifice, and our will/capacity as individuals. He believes that one should apply the same mentality given to sports in conquering life’s daily battles. Suffering a shoulder injury, Harman unlike most people views this as a positive experience because everything that followed, such as his degree choice, his improved emotional well-being, and his outlook on life, were due to something negative just being soil for seeds of positivity. Among many other things Harman is an influencer, a communicator, a sport enthusiast, an adamant rap enthusiast, a former Pearson International Airport worker, a volunteer with PCHS and Sikh heritage Month, and one of the most positive people I've met. On this episode we talk about realizing your emotional intelligence, how perspective can turn negativity into positivity, how the modern education system is failing students, and the importance of trusting your age.
