Einschaltbefehl!

Lucky fans in Truro are about to be treated to back-to-back shows from Country Music performer Brett Kissel. The Alberta-born singer-songwriter is performing the concerts at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre in tribute to the essential and frontline workers. And the tickets for both shows were handed out for free earlier this year. Kissel describes his start in the music business getting to hear himself on the radio at the age of eleven singing a Hank Snow song. A few decades and his ten album is being released this year, a four part box set called The Compass Series. From his Ukrainian roots to missing out on the last April Wine show with Myles Goodwyn, Kissel says he doesn't know if any westerner loves the East more than he does. And the feeling appears to be reciprocal.

It was to help create a safe and accessible space for people with disabilities to be able to enjoy the view of the Peggy's Cove Lighthouse. And the multi million dollar project was also expected to help make it safer for the 700-thousand annual visitors. But once again emergency responders were called in to help rescue two people in the water on the evening of April 11th, 2022. A 23-year-old Dartmouth man was located in the ocean and was pulled on to to a Coast Guard Cutter and airlifted to CFB Shearwater where he was declared deceased. A 26-year-old Ontario man was located near the shore and was rescued by volunteer firefighters. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. It's a scenario that's all too familiar to Captain Peter Richardson. He's had to rescue survivors and haul them aboard his own tour boat in the past. The former resident also served as a Village Commissioner until he moved out of Peggy's Cove last winter. And in spite of the conversations about how to make the tourist spot safer, he says it comes down to a matter of respect for the North Atlantic ocean lapping at the rocks below the famed lighthouse.
How do you feel about the return of Heather Dubrow this season on RHOC? Has Fancy Pants saved the franchise? How about Shannon Beador? Is the end near? Remember a simpler time, when RHOC still had the likes of Vicki and Tamra and gang. Remember Peggy Tanous, the one season wonder who had a LOT to say. If not, check this out! The Real Housewives of Orange County's Peggy Tanous steps Behind The Rope. The original Peggy from the OC. Speaking of Peggys, Peggy Tanous know the other Peggy, Bravo's 100th Housewife Peggy Sulahian. Is the OC really that small a place? We discuss Peggy's friends and past Orange Holders Gretchen Rossi, Heather Dubrow, Lydia McLaughlin, Lynn Curtin, Lauri Peterson and Lizzie Rovsek. What a trip down memory lane and yes Peggy knows them all. How fun. Peggy also recounts her friendship with Alexis (“Jesus Jugs”) Bellino before they were on RHOC together, how Alexis and Jim Bellino were involved in her being cast, the issues she had filming with her during their season, how the show changed their friendship and the status of their relationship today. We reminisce on how RHOC has changed throughout the years and how it is no where near the show it was way back in the day. Is that a good or bad thing? Peggy opens up about the best and worst part of being a Real Housewife of Orange County and whether she would go back again. Finally we the discuss the evolution of Vicki (Don, Brooks, Steve) and Tamra (Simon, Eddie), the aftermath of their absence and how the franchise will fair without these two staples going forward. @ocpeggytanous @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef BONUS & AD FREE EPISODES Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope Brought to you by QUIP - https://www.getquip.com/velvet (First Refill Free & Up To 40% Off Bundles) Brought to you by SHIPSTATION - https://www.shipstation.com (60 Day Free Trial. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/flugforensik/message
Nova Scotia has a law on the books that says the province will be inclusive and barrier free by 2030. The Accessibility Act is about reducing physical and societal barriers for disabled Nova Scotians. And this week, a major tourist attraction can now boast accessible and barrier free access to view iconic Peggy's Cove. That's good for people with disabilities and even the people who were protesting the construction last winter.

Poltergeists: does anyone even call them that anymore? This week, Geordie & Michelle look at three scary London hauntings from the 1930s, the 1950s and the 1970s... But only after Geordie does a swear, there's a brief mention of Eavesdroppin' Patron Saint Ben Mendelsohn, Geordie gives herself 10 Jen points and the pair speak in bad German accents. So... onto the hauntings! Michelle kicks off the ep with the tale of Alma Fielding and the Thornton Heath haunting. Did Alma's pink porcelain dog really smash? Did Alma really manifest a mouse? Why is no one called Alma anymore? Big questions on this week's episode. Was Alma's house really haunted or was she simply projecting repressed memories... You decide! Geordie moves onto the notorious case of the Enfield Haunting... Specifically, the BBC show The Reunion and the time she heard it in her car and had to pull over, she was so scared! We hear all about the two Peggys, 11 year old Janet Hodgson and a foul mouthed entity called Bill Wilkins who seems to be in love with Janet and how he haunted their lives for 18 months. This was after the girls used a ouija board... SO PEEPS, REMEMBER, YOUR OUIJA BOARD IS NOT A TOY!!!! Then it's onto the Battersea Poltergeist... sit back, grab a cup of mushroom coffee and let Geordie tell you all about Shirley Hitchings and Donald the poltergeist, who haunted her and her family for 12 YEARS!!!! yep. Whoa. What the actual F. Tapping, hammer toes, flying objects and media skepticism all kept the case alive for more than a decade, but at the end of it all, who really knows whether Donald was real or not or indeed, whether any of us will ever know whether Poltergeists truly exist... Development Nova Scotia responds to pushback to a proposed $3.1M boardwalk project at Peggys Cove.
The federal and provincial governments are spending $3.1 million to build an accessible viewing platform at Peggy's Cove. It will run over the rocks and allow visitors to walk on the rocks near the lighthouse, a potentially dangerous activity when tourists ignore warning signs and venture on the black rocks nearest the water. The platform is scheduled to open in June but not everyone is excited. For some -- the feeling is quite the opposite.

In the early morning of May 26th, 1968 the body of a little girl, Peggy Reber, who was 14, was discovered by her mother and a neighbor in a shady rundown apt in Lebanon Pennsylvania. The case is still unsolved as of today, with little to no chance of ever solving it without a confession. This podcast is listed as explicit due to the nature of it but I'd like to add that this case involves a child and the horrific injuries she sustained, so a little extra warning. A couple of fixes: I mention the exhumation of a body, but mistakingly think it was the suspects, it was Peggys body which was exhumed to look for more evidence, also the evidence being lost was due to Hurricane Agnes --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/arcanumobscura/message

Welcome to the Nor'Western Whispers (unless it's the morning like it was when we recorded... then it's Nor'Whispers). Today we travel to the far Eastern Coast where Nova Scotia hides an amazing tiny-town tourist area nearby Halifax- a place called Peggy's Cove. Quiet, idyllic, beautiful, and also haunted with a heart-wrenching story of a woman in blue, who lost everything one day on the slippery rocks of Granite that create the coastal edge. She now comes back and is often sighted around the Peggy's Cove Lighthouse, sometimes even moving things or talking to visitors.
Mitchum tells some more stories about the brothel known around the world - Rome's own Peggy's. We learn about the origin of Peggy's, and what happened after it was shut down.
