Signāli un pretreakcijas ir ļoti nozīmīgi, un Ukraina jau saņem arī pamatīgus atbildes triecienus ar raķetēm un droniem. Graudi, bads kā kara ierocis Krievijas rokās. Vasaras vidū, kad tiek novākta labība, Krievija ir paziņojusi par Melnās jūras graudu vienošanās apturēšanu. Tas nozīmē, ka atkal var prognozēt izaicinājumus ar graudu pieejamību un cenām pasaulē, turklāt laikā, kad daudzviet, tostarp arī Latvijā, pavasara salnas un vēlāk arī sausums ir ievērojami samazinājuši ražas.  Baltkrievija, mūsu otrs neparocīgais kaimiņš, kurš ne īsti piedalās, ne nepiedalās Krievijas izvērstajā karā, bet tagad ir ziņas, ka Baltkrievijā arvien lielākos apmēros ierodas grupējuma "Vagner" spēki. Savukārt Lukašenko režīma virzienā tiek vērstas apsūdzības par Minskas līdzdalību ukraiņu bērnu deportācijās. Vai un kā mainās reģionālā drošība arī Baltkrievijā notiekošā dēļ? Aktualitātes analizē Vidzemes augstskolas akadēmiskais un zinātņu prorektors, Ģeopolitikas pētījumu centra direktors Māris Andžans un Austrumeiropas politikas pētījumu centra pētnieks Armands Astukevičs. Ukrainas uzbrukums Krimas tiltam Šī nedēļa iesākās ar ziņu, ka naktī uz 17. jūliju pēc vismaz diviem sprādzieniem iegruvis viens Krimas jeb tā dēvētā Kerčas tilta laidums un satiksme pār tiltu tiek pilnībā apturēta.  Apturēta tika arī dzelzceļa satiksme uz tā un prāmju satiksme starp Ukrainai piederošo, Krievijas okupēto, Krimas pussalu un Krievijas Kubaņas reģionu. Pirmais no rīta notikušo oficiāli apstiprināja krievu ieceltais okupācijas iestāžu vadītājs Krimā Sergejs Aksjonovs un sprādzienus nosauca par „ārkārtēju gadījumu”.  Sprādzienā bojā gāja divi cilvēki, kā ziņo Krievijas varasiestādes – māte un tēvs. Savukārt viņu meita negadījumā guvusi ievainojumus. Uzrunājot tos, kas vēlējās šķērsot tiltu, bet nu bija iestrēguši milzu sastrēgumā, Aksjonovs aicināja, lai nokļūtu Krievijā, izmantot ceļojumam sauszemes iespējas. Proti, šķērsojot Krievijas šobrīd okupēto kontinentālās Ukrainas teritoriju. Savukārt, reakcija no Kremļa par notikušo parādījās pirmdienas pēcpusdienā. Putins sarīkoja atklātu tikšanos ar atbildīgajiem ministriem un anektēto reģionu vadītājiem, ko raidīja propagandas kanāls "Rossija 24" un Kremļa īpašais kanāls. Sanāksmē Putins sacīja, ka gaida ieteikumus drošības uzlabošanai uz tilta, uzklausīja ziņojumus par tilta bojājuma apmēriem un draudēja ukraiņiem ar pretreakciju. Naktī uz otrdienu Ukrainas teritoriju skāra kārtējais Krievijas raķešu un dronu uzbrukuma vilnis. Krievijas Aizsardzības ministrija paziņoja, ka tas ir "atbildes trieciens", un apgalvoja, ka raķetes trāpījušas vietās, no kurām ukraiņi, iespējams, plānojuši uzbrukumu Kerčas tiltam. Apstiprinājuma gan tam nav.  Krimas jeb tā dēvētais Kerčas tilts tika bojāts jau 2022.gada oktobrī, kad uz tā eksplodēja ar sprāgstvielām piekrauta kravas automašīna, sagraujot divus laidumus. Toreiz cieta arī blakus esošais dzelzceļa tilts. Arī toreiz Krievijas varasiestādes apgalvoja, ka tas bijis Ukrainas armijas uzbrukums, taču Kijiva to vismaz oficiāli noliedz. Vai Ukraina tuvākajā laikā mēģinās vēlreiz uzbrukt Krimas tiltam? Dažādos medijos aptaujātie militārie eksperti ir pārliecināti, ka noteikti. Jāpiebilst, ka Ukrainas Drošības dienesta (SBU) priekšsēdētājs Vasiļs Maļuks iepriekš norādījis, ka Krimas tilts ir leģitīms militārs mērķis un sola, ka pēc kara viņš pastāstīs par unikālām slepenām operācijām, ko ir veikuši ukraiņu izlūkdienesti. Ukrainas graudu eksports Ukraina un Krievija ar Turcijas starpniecību pagājušā gada 22.jūlijā parakstīja vienošanos ar ANO par Ukrainas lauksaimniecības preču eksporta atsākšanu Melnajā jūrā, kas tika pārtraukts, Krievijai 24.februārī sākot atkārtoto iebrukumu Ukrainā. Šī vienošanās ir ļāvusi Ukrainai nosūtīt vairāk nekā 32 miljonus tonnu graudu garām Krievijas karakuģiem Melnajā jūrā. Liela daļa no šiem graudiem nonākusi attīstības valstīs Āfrikā, Tuvajos Austrumos un citur. Ja eksports atkal tiek bloķēts, tas var izraisīt krīzi šajās valstīs un pārtikas cenas pasaulē var pieaugt vēl vairāk. 17. jūlijā beidzās šīs vienošanās vairakkārt pagarinātais termiņš.  Par to paziņoja Kremļa preses sekretārs Dmitrijs Peskovs, pavēstot, ka Krievija izstājas no šīs vienošanās. Turcijas prezidents Redžeps Tajips Erdogans, kas ir šī darījuma tiešais „uzraugs”,  pirmdien pauda pārliecību, ka „viņa draugs” Putins joprojām vēlas pagarināt starptautisko „labības darījumu”. Viņš apgalvoja, ka vienošanās par „labības darījuma” pagarināšanu „bez pārtraukumiem” var tikt panākta vēl pirms Putina augustā iecerētās vizītes Turcijā, piebilstot, ka sarunas šī mērķa labā jau notiek. Tiesa, otrdien Krievijas vēstījums Turcijai, ka līdz ar Maskavas izstāšanos no Melnās jūras „labības darījuma” tiek izformēts šīs starptautiskās iniciatīvas koordinācijas centrs Stambulā un atsauktas drošības garantijas tirdzniecības kuģiem Melnajā jūrā, nebūt neapstiprina Erdogana publiskoto pārliecību. Nosodījumu par Krievijas lēmumu izteicis gan ANO ģenerālsekretārs Antoniu Gutērrešs norādot, ka miljoniem cilvēku, kas cieš badu, „maksās” par šo Krievijas lēmumu, gan arī dažādu valstu amatpersonas. Tikmēr Ukrainas prezidents aicināja pasauli nerēķināties ar Krieviju, bet iespringt uz cita risinājuma meklēšanu, lai nodrošinātu labības eksportu. Today we're joined by Vasi Philomin, vice president of AI services at AWS, joins us for our first in-person interview since 2019! In our conversation with Vasi, we discussed the recently released Amazon Code Whisperer, a developer-focused coding companion. We begin by exploring Vasi's role and the various products under the banner of cognitive and non-cognitive services, and how those came together where Code Whisperer fits into the equation and some of the differences between Code Whisperer and some of the other recently released coding companions like GitHub Copilot. We also discuss the training corpus for the model, and how they've dealt with the potential issues of bias that arise when training LLMs with crawled web data, and Vasi's thoughts on what the path of innovation looks like for Code Whisperer.  At the end of our conversation, Vasi was gracious enough to share a quick live demo of Code Whisperer, so you can catch that here.

Once again we want to welcome Carmen Diaz Medina, from Spain and living in the Canary Islands, to the podcast.  As members of Pets are Family Carmen, MaryEllen and Vasi discussed our goals again.
