“Is it your civic duty to let people merge onto the highway—or are you just cruising in the right lane like a menace?”That's the philosophical question that kicks off a hilariously heated debate in this episode of The Ben and Skin Show, where Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina Ray dive headfirst into Cowboys disappointment, Mavs magic, and the mystery of Vaseline on the sidelines.Cowboys Therapy Session: The crew mourns another Cowboys loss, dissecting the team's defensive woes and jokingly predicting an 8-8-1 season—just to see if Brad Sham will come after them on Twitter.Ben's Viral Moment: Ben recounts sitting courtside at a Mavs game with his daughter, only to end up in a viral photo celebrating wildly—with a suspicious tub of Vaseline and lotion in front of him. KT's crop job and Skin's commentary turn this into one of the funniest moments of the episode.

A survey of roadworkers has found many face routine abuse, attacks, and some are even purposely hit by cars, according to new reports. The survey, which was run by Temporary Traffic Management Industry Steering Group, included 667 workers across New Zealand who described their experiences with verbal abuse and physical assault. Pipeline & Civil Ltd owner Hugh Goddard says he's heard his staff have been yelled at, almost hit by vehicles - and nearly faced physical abuse. "I wasn't involved in the development of the survey, but I know over 700 TTM workers in New Zealand who responded in the survey, which is a significant sample. And that's the feedback that's coming through, so it's very much a real issue." LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A single phone call about a city burn ban spirals into threats—and becomes our jumping-off point to ask a harder question: why are tiny frictions turning into full-blown fights? We trace the emotional arc from everyday annoyances to public blowups, weaving in a tense on-road encounter, a chaotic midday scene, and the nerves of stepping into a new leadership role. What emerges is a clear pattern: social media's echo chambers, economic pressure, and political theater have rewired how we handle conflict, making patience feel rare and empathy optional. We don't stop at diagnosis. We pull apart the mechanics of online outrage—the highlight reels, the instant pile-ons, the way platforms reward dunking over dialogue—and map them to the awkwardness many of us feel face-to-face after years of isolation. We talk about free speech with grown-up nuance: protect robust expression, draw a hard line at threats, and normalize course corrections without public shaming. If leaders model contempt, everyday interactions copy that tone. So we argue for something braver: choosing grace in small, daily ways that actually lower the temperature. You'll also hear our rapid-fire relationship segment: hidden “emergency” money and trust, the gift-giving loop that misses the mark, and the houseguest situation that needed a hotel. Through it all, we offer practical steps anyone can use right now—kindness as default, non-judgment long enough to hear context, awareness of your own tells, tech boundaries that blunt the outrage cycle, and a bias for experiences over performative posts. None of this fixes the internet or politics—but it restores personal agency and rebuilds local trust, inch by inch.If this resonates, tap follow, share with a friend who needs a calmer feed, and leave a review with one habit that helps you keep your cool. Fresh off a sleepless night thanks to an elderly, opinionated dog, Kyla and Paul dive into a tough week on BC roads and in BC politics. With the public-sector strike still at an impasse, they pivot to a spate of high-profile road-rage cases in North Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Ontario. Kyla explains why we don't need a new “road-rage law” when the Criminal Code already covers assaults, threats, dangerous driving, and leaving the scene, and offers practical advice: protect your own safety first and keep your cool. They then unpack “Xavier's Law,” a proposal to yank licences indefinitely after any fatal crash until charges are declined or a trial ends, and lay out the legal problems: undefined timelines, no clear trigger when prosecutors quietly decline charges, constitutional issues akin to Alberta's struck-down indefinite suspensions, perverse effects on plea discussions, and the fact that BC already has high-risk administrative prohibitions if police believe someone is unsafe. The Ridiculous Driver of the Week crosses the border to Florida, where a habitual violator on a driving prohibition left an idling car by a school and then allegedly punched and bit officers when told to shut it down—an object lesson in how quickly minor misconduct can become major charges. Oscar-nominated screenwriter Billy Ray talks about AI creeping further into Hollywood. Spoiler alert, he is not a fan of cinematic artificial intelligence. He refers to Tilly Norwood as an “it” and not as an actress. Billy Ray believes AI hurts Hollywood and takes away middleclass jobs from behind-the-scenes movie workers, like gaffers, workaday actors and camera operators, arguing that LA is a blue-collar town. Will AI become a powerful creative ally or is it a threat to their craft and livelihoods? Ray argues for strong protections, insisting that “the public has a right to know when they're watching something written by a human being.” The Dodgers have taken a 1:0 lead at Dodgers Stadium! Hurricane Humberto is drawing near Bermuda, thus sparing the U.S. East Coast. A nursing student at a carwash in Reseda was mugged for $4,000 while vacuuming her car, but she has a GoFundMe.
