This episode features winemaker and viticulturist, Mark Neal, the Founder and Owner of Neal Family Vineyards. Growing up in Napa Valley's Rutherford region as the son of a farmer, Mark was learning about viticulture from a very young age - he says farming is the only job he's ever had. It was Mark's maternal grandmother whom he credits with instilling the family with their early adoption of biodynamics. A native of Crete, she was critical of any other way of farming than the ancient, organic, lunar-based model she absorbed growing up. Mark is now best known as one of the first grape growers to practice and farm biodynamically in Napa. In 1968, Mark entered his father's business, Jack Neal and Son (JNS) Vineyard Management and the duo helped establish some of the most storied estates in Napa Valley, including continuous vineyard management with Heitz, Martha's Vineyard. During the 1960's and 1970's, demand started to grow for his expertise in developing everything from orchards to vineyards, especially after Napa won the French Tasting in 1976. He went on to conduct ground preparation on vineyards such as BV, Beckstoffer, Cuvaison, Duckhorn Schramsburg, Screaming Eagle, Three Palms, Coppola, Dominus Estates, Ink Grade Vineyards, Vine Hill Ranch. Starting in the mid-1990s, he spent years consulting for Gallo Vineyards, building and prepping the company's vineyard estates throughout California. Today, Mark still runs JNS in addition to Neal Family Vineyards. Of the 40 or so vineyard management companies in Napa, JNS is the second oldest, and Mark proudly still has clients on handshake contracts from the 1970s that were secured by his father. In 1997, Mark developed a dual varietal trellis system to combat a palpably warming Napa Valley and plant white grapes like Sauvignon Blanc and Vermentino (as well as other experimental varieties) in his Rutherford Dust vineyard. His innovation doubled up production on the same acre without sacrificing quality, without using any additional water, and without expending any additional carbon footprint. you'll hear about the various benefits of all his practices. He highly values and respects the role of his people in all aspects of cultivating a vineyard as well as maintains a priority to fight against climate change on a global scale. Get ready for a Napa Valley history lesson and learn about aspects of grape farming that you may have never heard of before. You can follow @nealvineyards on instagram and visit www.nealvineyards.com to learn more about his estate wines. Because where you are headed is extraordinary because of the surprises that God has in store for you! Early death assignments have been very high, with many intercessors experiencing spells/magic/witchcraft decrees hitting their throats/voices/breaths (which many of you might have been hit with blanket spells) to hinder your voice from going forth! THIS IS THE NEW Place that God has been having you decree over for your tomorrow to see if you would land in past sorrows/digress back into your mess or would you press/forge on into the new- allowing God to get rid of the OLD YOU!  THE LORD SAYS THIS: This scripture was given to me yesterday by the Lord for the SCREAMING EAGLES!  Where many of the remnant have chosen to come up higher into the heart of God despite the cost. 4 years ago I saw this photo of the Screaming Eagles without knowing that it is was mascot for my dads special force battalion.  The Screaming Eagles is from the 101st Airborne division where my dad served for years.  And when I saw it I God said:Missy- You've been promoted…and all those chasing you have been DEMOTED…because they chose the serpent side of themselves instead of MY EAGLE SIDE! Support the show

Gus Clemens on Wine explores and explains the world of wine in simple, humorous, fun posts

This is the weekly newspaper column. Most searched Napa wines 8-10-2022Napa is universally recognized as one of the world's premier wine regions, and you pay to enjoy its exalted pours. How much and which wines get the most attention?Wine-Searcher maintains a daily updated online list of the world's wines complete with pricing, scores, and links to reviews and maker websites. It is an invaluable tool I have used for years for prices in my tasting notes and reviews.Part of their reporting is the number of searches on their site for each wine. That presents a snapshot of what people care about. As you would expect, searches for Napa wines concentrate on big reds. Some 70 percent of all Napa wines listed on Wine-Searcher are cabernet sauvignon, merlot, or blends of the two. When it comes to searches, a whopping 92 percent are for cabernet sauvignon and its related blends. Searchers either are contemplating buying or enjoying the fantasy of what they would buy if they could buy. Here are the world's most-searched Napa wines on Wine-Searcher along with an averaged score and price:1. Opus One. 94 points. $4122. Dominus Estate Christian Moueix. 95 points. $3273. Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon. 97 points. $4,7654. Caymus Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon. 91 points. $915. Harlan Estate. 96 points. $1,4486. Joseph Phelps Vineyards Insignia. 94 points. $2777. Caymus Vineyards Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon. 93 points. $2148. Scarecrow Cabernet Sauvignon. 95 points. $9679. Silver Oak Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon. 89 points. $14510. Shafer Vineyards Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon. 95 points. $342The order has been basically unchanged for several years. Opus One, Dominus, and Screaming Eagle remain unchallenged. This year, Caymus nudged ahead of Harlan. Caymus Special Selection moved up two places while Shafer dropped two. There was an interesting note. It still costs serious money to enjoy these Napa jewels, but there was a significant slowing of price increases. Opus One actually dropped in price from $416 to $412. Likely still not in your Tuesday pizza night budget, but interesting.Tasting notes:• Rabble Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 2019: Rich, lush dark fruits; 100% Napa cab. $25-36 Link to my review• Rombauer Vineyards Napa Valley Merlot 2018: Bold, ripe-fruit, easy-drinking iteration of Napa merlot. $45-50 Link to my review• Charles Krug Peter Mondavi Family Reserve Generations, Napa Valley 2018: Delivers subtle elegance; 84% Napa cab. $60-75 Link to my reviewLast round: You know it is a hot summer when your electric bill is more than your house payment. Gus Clemens on Wine explores and explains the world of wine in simple, humorous, fun posts

This is the weekly newspaper column.Sauvignon Blanc summer 8-3-2022Sauvignon blanc is versatile all year, but it particularly shines in the scorching summer we endure this year. Its crisp acidity and tropical fruit flavors complement lighter dishes and salads. Sauv blanc often is called “salad in a glass.” Nicely chilled, sauv blanc easily is appreciated at the end of a triple-digit day.Sauv blanc is an uncomplicated wine with vines rambunctiously eager to please. When winegrowers neglect to prune, the wine can have little distinction. That was the case in the 1970s and 1980s when California growers went for quantity instead of quality. Sauv blanc rightly earned a reputation as a cheap jug wine/boxed wine.Led by Robert Mondavi, some winemakers knew sauv blanc could achieve more and attempted to create a market for “Fumé Blanc” or similar made-up marketing name. Unfortunately, many pursued an oaky style that did sauv blanc no flavor favors. Then New Zealanders found ways in vineyards and wineries to evoke more fruit expression, creating a style now imitated even in France. Marlborough, in the northern part of the southern island, began producing world-class pours in the 1980s—food-friendly wines with tongue-cutting acidity and vivid citrus fruits.Much of sauvignon blanc is made to drink young, often released shortly after harvest. That pleases winemakers—they get to turn juice into cash quickly. It also pleases a lot of consumers since you can easily get quality in the $12-18 range. If you want, however, you can go high-end. Screaming Eagle, Oakville makes a sauv blanc that sells for $5,900—down from $7,180 last year. In France, where wine names come from places and not the varietal, the French call it Sancerre or Pouilly-Fumé. Sancerre is on left bank of the Loire River, Pouilly-Fumé on the right bank. Dagueneau Asteroide Pouilly-Fumé goes for $1,791 a bottle. Edmond Vatan Clos la Neore, Sanerre costs $494 a bottle.Tasting notes:• Concha y Toro Gran Reserva Sauvignon Blanc, Rapel River 2021: Congenial easy drinker rather than boisterous, assertive sauv blanc, but retains SB's ability to enhance, complement food. $13-16 Link to my review• Wairau River Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough 2021: Delivers what you want and expect from a NZ sauv blanc. $15-20 Link to my review• Aperture Cellars Sauvignon Blanc 2020: Dollop of sémillon adds a subtle boost; whole-cluster pressing delivers depth, complexity. $40-45 Link to my reviewLast round: This summer has been so hot, when I turn on my sprinkler, steam comes out. Hanabi Lager Company's (https://hanabilager.com) Nick Gislason has always been a builder, and that same DIY sensibility drives his lager-focused brewery project today. For the past decade, he's been head winemaker for Screaming Eagle, a small estate winery that makes some of the most coveted wines in California. But before wine, he was a brewer, and Hanabi is his way to stay connected with this parallel passion. Crossover stories are ripe for criticism—Michael Jordan playing baseball was not the success he might have envisioned—and it's easy to assume that a winemaker dabbling in the beer world is nothing more than a dilettante. The Hanabi story is different. Years of piloting, years of hand-building a bespoke brewhouse, and an intense focus on the equipment to make the beer set a different background for the Hanabi story. Notably, Hanabi is a lager brewery. Gislason's affinity for exploring the flavors of grains led him to focus on lager brewing, as the delicate structure of lager allows for clearer malt expression. Hanabi releases only one beer per quarter, which they brew then patiently lager before releasing as a one-time event. Each beer is an event and an exploration. In this episode, Gislason discusses this somewhat unique structure and focus, while also touching on: Building the brewhouse from scratch, welding their own vessels, and designing the brewhouse specifically for lager brewing The Hanabi beer development process Brewing with heirloom barley varieties Searching for historical barley to brew with And more. *This episode is brought to you by: * G&D Chillers (https://gdchillers.com): Born in the Pacific Northwest from a lot of hard work and singular goal, G&D has become the best damn chiller company in the world. A quick note on sound quality: we had some problems with levels when we recorded our 2nd through 5th episodes. This was partly because, due to the pandemic, we are recording everything on Zoom, so we have no monitoring, and partly because we are rank amateurs, and have literally no idea what we are doing. The final result is that Jesse's level was a lot lower than Nate's, and we had to fix it in post. The trouble is, the massive compression required to correct the issue also resulted in the listener being able to hear individual oxygen molecules bouncing off one another. There's a bit of a noise problem. We considered re-recording the episodes, but we were concerned we'd lose our spontaneity. After all, we don't rehearse, this is live conversation. We just ask the listener to bear with us as we figure this out, and for this group of episodes, kindly pretend that Nate and Jesse are broadcasting live from the Screaming Eagle, a classic wooden rollercoaster at Six Flags Great America, because that's definitely what it sounds like. The Trader Joe's Napa Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, the actual name on the bottle is Trader Joe's Platinum Reserve Oakville Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 Lot #97. The name was too long to fit in the title section.Trader Joe's features an array of Napa Valley sub-AVA Cabernets. I saw Atlas Peak, Yountville, Spring Mountain in addition to Oakville. All sell for $14.99. A typical Nappa sub-AVA starts at $24 to $30 and goes up.I picked the Oakville Napa Cabernet Sauvignon because Oakville is the home of Screaming Eagle, a 100 point Red that sells for thousands of dollars. This Trader Joe's wine is not Screaming Eagle, but Oakville is not that big, the vineyard these grapes came from was not that far from the Screaming Eagle vineyard.I do not know which vineyard or vineyards the grapes for Lot #97 came from, but we do know who made the wine. Precision Wine Company offers 11 different wine brands, one of them, Technique, is sold at Trader Joe's. They offer an Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon under their own label that lists for $48, so they know their way around Napa wines. This is a 2018 vintage wine which means it is a drink-it-now wine that has had almost two years of aging. We do not know what sort of oak barrel aging treatment the Trader Joe's Napa Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 had. Not knowing key production facts is one of the reasons this wine sells for such a low price for an Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon. With the expensive Napa Cabs who the cooperage was and which forest in France supplied the oak important features. Which vineyard supplied the grapes, which famous winery, and which rockstar winemaker was involved are the details that lead to coveted wines and super high price tags. With Trader Joe's Napa Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, we don't know any of that. We do know that Oakville is a load production wine, less than 5,000 cases (12 bottles to a case) and the grapes came from a premium vineyard. We know that because that is the only type of vineyard they have in Oakville.Knowing we are getting a wine made from great grapes is all we really need to know. Trader Joe's has enough of a history and a reputation that we expect solid winemaking techniques. Add great grapes to that along with a low price and you have the makings of a bargain.Trader Joe's says this Cabernet Sauvignon under a retail wine label would sell for $30. They do not typically over-sell their wines so if they say it is a thirty dollar wine I believe them. The alcohol content is 15%.Trader Joe's Napa Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 Tasting NotesThe color is deep, dark, opaque purple. The nose is smokey, spicey, dark, and brooding. There are extracted blackberry, black licorice, black pepper, mushroom, herbs, exotic spice, slow-cooked BBQ in a smoker, and sweet chocolate. The nose is worth the cost of the bottle. This is a drink-it-now wine, it shouldn't need decanting, but give the wine plenty of time to open up. This is a sleek, rich Cabernet that is full of flavor. It tastes of blackberry mixed with slightly sweeter blueberry, slightly bitter dark chocolate, a hint of green pepper, and black pepper. The mid-palate brings slightly rough spice, cranberry, a tug from the tannins, and a late hit of strawberry. This is a smooth, sleek wine, it has medium weight on the palate. The acidity does a fine job of allowing the flavors to unfold. The SummaryThe Trader Joe's Napa Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is a terriffic $14.99 Napa Cabernet SauvignonI was originally planning on giving one of Trader Joe's current crop of Napa sub-AVA Cabs and then move on to something else. But this Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon brings huge value for the price. I am going to give some of the other sub-AVA Cabs a try. These are wines you need to try.

Jimmy and Indian Johnny. A true story by Jimmy Smith. Jimmy Peterson, grandson of Jimmy Smith, sent me this story in 2019. I've been trying to figure where this story fits in the paranormal. Since I received this story, a lot of episodes I've done since then lead back to Native American Indian burial grounds, myths and the Great Spirit. So now is as good time as any. The story of Indian Johnny has been told around the family Thanksgiving table the past 50 years. And the tradition continues. Jimmy Smith in 1964 suffered from what today would be called PTSD. Jimmy battled alot of things running through his head. One was an Indian voice telling him to drive west. On Jimmy's journey was a stop at the Screaming Eagle gift shop in Rosebud South Dekota. Home of the Lakota indian reservation. The story takes a lot of twists and turns unttil the very end.Thank you Jimmy Peterson for the story. In this episode on the unexpected, Jean-Charles Boisset and I enjoy talking about the finer items in the store, including caviar and a selection of highly coveted wines by the glass or taste, that visitors may be surprised to discover in the same location as sandwiches and potato chips. The wines we taste today include JCB No 21 Brut Cremant de Bourgogne, bubbles that work beautifully with caviar, along with the 2015 Secret Indulgence Tarot Cabernet Sauvignon—showing that even red wine works with the tiny eggs. This episode is made possible by Oakville Grocery, part of Boisset Collection, a portfolio of wineries and shops with strong historical and family roots. Today we interview Oakville Grocery Wine Director Ed Maass, who shares insights into the mission of the Oakville Grocery’s new wine program in Napa. A nitrogen gas wine-preservation system allows guests to sample a dozen wines by the glass, including a selection from small producers that you otherwise might not have an opportunity to taste. But the unexpected element is the small selection of wines that are super high-end and extremely difficult to access. It's a surprise to see Screaming Eagle offered at $120 for a single ounce or $600 for a 5-ounce glass. Another unexpected item at the grocery is Tsar Nicoulai Caviar, one of California’s few caviar producers. We speak with Tsar Nicoulai Vice President Otto Szilagyi and learn about the artisanally crafted white sturgeon roe that is farm-raised in a sustainable environment not far from Sacramento. We talk about the mystery of the eggs, their rating system, and how they are delicately and precisely brined. Thanks for listening, and stay tuned for more shows in the coming weeks. In this episode Maayan talks about his upbringing, being born and raised in Israel by a hard-working and committed family of farmers.  After serving 4 years in the Israeli Army as a Ranger Paratrooper, and a little time studying Mechanical Engineering, Maayan realized it was time to follow his dreams and pursue a career in the wine industry. With a little mentorship and advice from Dr. Margalit of Margalit Winery, the first boutique winery out of Israel, and Doron Rav Hon of Sphera Winery, Maayan followed his new found passion that led him to Napa Valley, standing on the doorstep of the ultra-premium, world-renowned winery, Screaming Eagle. Maayan talks about his love for the chemistry and scientific side of winemaking and how learning these studies from his time in University was really key in excelling and expanding his career as a winemaker. Maayan talks about some of his biggest inspirations and mentors in the wine industry, people like Andre Tchelistcheff, Philip Togni, and Michel Rolland.  He also mentions people such as Miguel Luna of Silverado Farming, Caleb Mosley of Mike Wolf Farming Company, and Chris Tynan, winemaker for Cliff Lede Vineyards. Maayan talks about being a winemaker for Brilliant Mistake Wines and the privilege it is to be a part of this amazing brand that John and Stacy Reinert have created.  He also mentions how, working for John and Stacy doesn't even feel like work, more like a family which is absolutely the case if you don't have the privilege of knowing these two people. So here we are to finish out the last part of our play-by-play October 2017 Aruba Trip Report. At the end of episode 3, we were hanging out at Arashi beach enjoying the sunset but now we're in our living room back in Delaware, where it's a far cry from the nice and sunny weather in One Happy Island.   The last time we left off, it was Thursday around dusk. We went for dinner at Twist of Flavors, which was fantastic. We thought we would get food from the Eat Local Restaurant Month menu, but we just got what's in the regular menu because honestly, everything sounded great. Twist of Flavors was really nice. It's a small place but it has good service and tasteful décor.   Later on we headed home to unwind and play a game called Chill Out. It's basically a card game with a bunch of peppers on top. The goal is to get rid of your set of cards before anyone else. Maggie personally loves to play games with family, and we really enjoyed this one especially since we turn every game into a drinking game.   Friday morning, we woke up early to go to Mangel Halto. It was our first time there. Unfortunately Maggie and I didn't get to snorkel because we forgot to bring our snorkeling gear, but we did enjoy the scenery a lot.   Afterwards we found ourselves in one of our favorite spots in the island which we personally call Eagle Beach Adjacent. It's a little clearing between Oceania and Screaming Eagle that no one really goes to. There, we witnessed a lovely little wedding.   Following the wedding is our little detour to the Arubian Taste Rum Shop. You can sample more than a hundred different flavors of rum there. Every time we go, they seem to have a brand new flavor for us to try.   We had Alfie's for dinner that night. During our last trip to Aruba back in July, we didn't get to have poutine on Canada Day because they ran out, so we made sure we would get some this time and boy, it did not disappoint! It was as delicious as we remembered it to be.   As we got closer to the end of our trip, we made it a point to get up earlier so come Saturday morning, we were already at Palm Beach before 8 a.m. and didn't leave until around 5:30 in the evening. The rest of the day was spent with me meeting up with a new friend named Louie, and dinner at Quinta del Carmen's with our favorite waiter, Wilmer. He always takes care of us well whenever we go there. We ended the day on a pleasant note by playing Chill Out again. For us, playing cards with the family is a good way to unwind and look back on the events of the day.   Sunday was our last full day in the island so we got up early again and chose Eagle Beach Adjacent as our destination. We had about 3 and a half hours of perfect Aruba weather until it started pouring, so we got out to get pizza at a new place in Alhambra's called Hungry Piranha. It was alright; you can't really get amazing pizza in the island anyway to be honest. We went back to the beach for about 15 minutes until the rain started again so we just gave up, drove around, explored the island for the remaining hours. Dinner was spent on Chicken and Lobster which was pretty decent; funnily enough we didn't get chicken or lobster even though it's the namesake of the restaurant. The best thing about the place is the service, no doubt.   Come Monday morning, we had to deal with the sadness of parting with Aruba yet again. We headed over to Eduardo's for some snacks and Eagle Beach Adjacent for the last time to relax then straight home to finish packing before going to the airport. We had a little bit of a delay upon returning the rental car but everything turned out alright in the end. The flight back to the States was uneventful, just how we like it, and we arrived safely home around 7 in the evening.   That marks the end of our 4-part October trip series. All in all, it was a great trip and we can't wait to do it again. We hope you enjoyed the ride along with us. Whenever you feel like getting a dose of Aruba sunshine, just tune in to One Happy Podcast's numerous episodes, close your eyes, and imagine you're in Aruba.   ON THIS EPISODE OF ONE HAPPY PODCAST, YOU WILL: - Hear a few more restaurant reviews including a couple of new (for us) places - Hear about Maggie's experience with fresh aloe - Hear about an awesome wedding experience we stumbled onto - Find out what we did during our first ever Aruba rainout   RESTAURANTS AND ESTABLISHMENTS MENTIONED: Twist of Flavors Quinta del Carmen Chicken and Lobster Oceania Screaming Eagle The Arubian Taste Liqueur and Rum Shop Hungry Piranha Urataka's Eduardo's Bananas Apartments L.G. The Dyno Jet Power Commander V prices at around $379.  If you want to add the additional Dyno Jet Auto Tuner you will spend around another $399.  The Vance and Hines Fuel Pak 3 all in one solution prices at around $350, but it may not have all the functionality.  Of course there is the Harley Davidson Screaming Eagle EFI tuner, but our opinion is to stay away and we explain why on this podcast episode.  Simply put, you just need to listen to get the whole scoop. Anyways, we will continue to test these motorcycle electronic fuel injection (EFI) tuners, boxes, and gadgets.  We will follow up with videos, podcasts, and blogs.  So you will want to keep checking back. USEFUL LINKS: Law Abiding Biker Power Commander V Install Tutorial Video  Vance & Hines FuelPak FP3 Promo Video Power Commander V Overview Power Commander Auto Kit Overview  We briefly discuss the ridiculous and completely fictional show “Devil’s Ride."  Unfortunately, it returned for a second season only to screw up our regular viewing of the Discovery Channel.  The Discovery Channel ought to be ashamed to air a show like the Devil’s Ride and for trying to pass it off as a “reality show”.  It is so far from reality it’s pitiful. Kurt Sutter, creator of the truly fictional FX Network Television Show Sons of Anarchy, blasts the creator of the Devil’s Ride on Twitter recently. Sutter sent out a tweet to his followers. In it, he wondered if “The Devil’s Ride” had been canceled or not and questioned the legitimacy of the clubs that take part in the show. That didn't sit well with a member of the Laffing Devils, who are also on Twitter. "Is 'Devil's Ride' still on? my thespians are harder than these bitches. don't take my word, ask any OMC in the fucking world,” Sutter writes on Twitter. One of the Devils, who goes by Mad Max responded with, "Fuck you you talk a lot of shit from that key board [sic]," completely ignoring that he was in fact typing his message on a keyboard.  Sutter offered a simple, "you're just jealous because i can spell.” Sutter, had more things to say about the show and said, "If your MC has agreed to become a show, you are now reality TV stars. you've traded legacy/pride for cash/fame. And you are in my circus," and, "I may have to buy all the devils chocolate valentine hearts. Their feelings are so hurt. Especially the fat one from 'The Wonder Years.” The "fat one from “The Wonder Years” is Jason Hervey, who played Wayne Arnold on the long-running series. He also happens to be the creator of "Devils Ride" and has a message of his own for Sutter, also delivered via Twitter. "Man U talk shit. U put ur cast in front of u, but not u?" he tweeted. "EP Vs. EP. Anytime. Get urs, will get mine.” -Keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up! ______________________________________________________________________   CHECK US OUT AND SUBSCRIBE:   Website: http://www.LawAbidingBiker.com   Email & Voicemail: http://www.LawAbidingBiker.com/Contact   Phone Hotline: 509-731-3548   Twitter: https://twitter.com/LawAbidingBiker   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lawabidingbiker        YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/scrappy587     Google Plus Page: https://plus.google.com/+Lawabidingbiker587   Instagram: http://instagram.com/lawabidingbiker     RSS: feed://www.LawAbidingBiker.com/feed   iTunes Direct Link to Podcast:  https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/law-abiding-biker-podcast/id622424087    Stitcher Radio: http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/law-abiding-biker-podcast   TuneIn Radio: http://tunein.com/radio/Law-Abiding-Biker-p562288/

Loyal listener Matt Pass of California made a second donation! WOW, we are truly humbled by the donations and we want to keep pumping content out for everyone! We also read several emails from our loyal listeners. One of our loyal listeners, John O Keefe, from Ireland busts our balls for our lousy Irish accent attempts on the podcast and says we sound Asian-LOL. We love it John! That is the Law Abiding Biker/Motorcycle Community we are trying to build. One where we can join together, have fun, joke together, and laugh together! We all need to get away from or jobs and have a familiar place to go to. For most of us that is riding our motorcycles and we really hope it also includes enjoying and learning from content that Law Abiding Biker Podcast & Media is pumping out! Our Facebook Page is growing in “likes” and our  Twitter profile is also growing. Law Abiding Biker Motorcycle Podcast Episode downloads are also increasing along with website traffic! WE ARE SO VERY HUMBLED AT ALL THE SUPPORT WE HAVE RECEIVED FROM THE LAW ABIDING BIKER/MOTORCYCLE COMMUNITY! And so the Law Abiding Biker Community is growing and we are excited about the future! We have no real words to thank everyone. Charlie Caruana from Australia lets us know via email that in iTunes, the Law Abiding Biker Motorcycle Podcast episode library was only displaying back to episode #17. Thanks to him, we were made aware of the problem and I have fixed it! Now you can go all the way back to episode #01 in iTunes (my humble beginnings as a podcaster-wheeew). There are more ratings on iTunes and Stitcher Radio coming in for the Law Abiding Biker Motorcycle Podcast and we are so appreciative. Keep it up! We are also now listed in the iPhone and Android app called TuneIn Radio. We are also listed in the Android “Podkicker” app. At the very beginning of this Law Abiding Biker Motorcycle Podcast episode and for fun, we play a very short snippet of a song called “Handlebars” from the band called the Flobots from their 2007 album “Fight With Tools”. I encourage you to buy this song or the entire album, as I really like their music and style. Law Abiding Biker Tiger Sherman sent us and email reminding the Law Abiding Biker/Motorcycle Community and us that you don’t have to buy the Harley Davidson brand Screaming Eagle synthetic oil to service your motorcycle, which costs $12.95 per quart plus tax at a dealership. You can simply purchase Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w-50 full synthetic 4 cycle motorcycle oil, which is just the same. I did a very quick Google search and found Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w-50 full synthetic 4 cycle motorcycle oil on Amazon for $62.78 for a case of 6 quarts. I’m certain if you spent more time than I, you can find it even cheaper. That equals to $10.46 per quart, which is cheaper than the Harley Screaming Eagle synthetic oil. However, depending on shipping costs, you may be around the same price. Your best bet is to go to your local motorcycle/biker shop and they likely carry other synthetic motorcycle oil alternatives, such as Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w-50 full synthetic 4 cycle motorcycle oil . Of course Harley dealerships only sell their Screaming Eagle synthetic oil, which they simply put their label on. It is a well known fact that Harley Davidson does not manufacture their own oil and purchase oil from the lowest bidder. Harley Davidson then simply places their brand name label on it. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, but a majority of other things they sell, including oil, are way overpriced. You can get comparable items and pay much less if you do your research. I’m certain the oil is decent, as I have never had any problems when running it in my Harley. However, it is extremely overpriced, as Haley certainly wants to make money on it. A chrome oil filter costs $14.95 from a Harley dealership. So out of the Harley dealership door with product to service my Harley myself costs $$114.95. If you then have a Harley dealership service your bike you can add another $200 plus out the door. So, a full service and simple oil change and safety inspection will cost you $300 plus from a Harley Davidson Dealership and it takes them less than an hour! SERVICE YOUR HARLEY YOURSELF, AS IT IS EASY AND YOU WILL SAVE A TON OF MONEY. I CAN SHOW YOU HOW WITH MINIMAL TOOLS IN A STEP-BY-STEP LAW ABIDING BIKER TUTORIAL VIDEO! That means you can use 20w-50 synthetic oil in your engine, transmission, and primary drive! You no longer have to have a separate oil for each and that is a good thing to me. The above email from Tiger Sherman is a great segue into our MAIN TOPIC, which is Amsoil synthetic oil vs. Harley Davidson labeled synthetic oil. Law Abiding Biker Motorcycle Podcast Co-host, Justin AKA: Oscar, is on hand during this episode to help us cover this ongoing and sometimes heated topic amongst bikers/motorcyclists. Justin is a full time Law Enforcement Officer (LEO like me) and also happens to be a local Amsoil dealer in our area. He has great insight into the benefits of using Amsoil and touches on the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which basically covers warranty requirements and was enacted in 1975. What is boils down to, is what I have told our audience before many times via multiple media platforms. You can perform your own maintenance on your motorcycle and your warranty is still good, so long as you keep certain documentation. I discuss this thoroughly in the Law Abiding Biker Harley Davidson Maintenance Video www.LawAbidingBiker.com/2014HarleyMaintenance. You do not have to take your motorcycle to the dealership for regular maintenance and service to maintain your warranty. You can do the service and routine maintenance yourself. We discuss the benefits and costs of Amsoil synthetic oil vs. Harley Davidson synthetic oil that they slapped a label on. You will learn that you can get Amsoil for around the same price as Harley brand, depending on what your Amsoil dealer sales it for. You will get the best deal if you are an Amsoil premium member, which costs about $20 a year per Justin. You can order directly from the Amsoil www.amsoil.com website too. There have been many “wear tests" performed with Amsoil and it always comes out ahead of the competitors, like Harley brand synthetic oil. Amsoil also sales oil filters and air filters for your motorcycle, which are completely comparable to Harley and other competitors. Amsoil makes oil for every type of engine, not just motorcycles. I personally have never used Amsoil, but after this podcast and education from Justin, I may just switch. With Harley Davidson Screaming Eagle synthetic oil, you are advised to change your oil every 5,000 miles. Per Amsoil, you only have to change your motorcycle oil every 10,000 miles and as Justin reveals, Amsoil has a warranty guarantee that if an engine fails because of their oil, then they will replace the engine. I doubt this would ever happen. Heck, you could push Harley synthetic oil to 10,000 miles in most conditions and be fine, but don’t do it please. So, I think Amsoil is safe with making this guarantee. Why does Harley Davidson not sell Amsoil? Simple; Amsoil will not give Harley Davidson low bid, because they have a great product. Amsoil doesn’t want to have Harley Davidson just slap their label on their product and then call it “theirs". Harley Davidson gets synthetic oil extremely cheap from the low bidder, they slap their label on it, and cash in. Many big companies do this, not just Harley Davidson. It is just a fact and businesses are trying to profit in many ways. Don’t take it personal, but don’t fall for the trap either. With the internet and social media available, to include the Law Abiding Biker Motorcycle Podcast, we can all help each other out, so we all get the best motorcycle products and best deals for our hard earned money. Information is that Harley Davidson currently purchases their synthetic motorcycle oil from Citgo Petroleum or Mobil  and slap their label on it. I guess it really boils down to how long you are going to own your motorcycle an how many more miles you think you will get out of your engine before you need a rebuild or a new one. Do you keep your motorcycle that long? Some do. I usually sell my motorcycles before I get to this stage, so I will likely never know. I’m not certain anyone really knows exactly how much more you get out of your engine, transmission, or primary drive by using Amsoil synthetic oil. I will however be switching to Amsoil now and give it a try. If I can get it for around the same price and only have to change my oil every 10,000 miles instead of every 5,000 using Harley synthetic oil then I am money ahead. And hey, if it is better for my motorcycle engine then that is an added benefit too. Of course I will be following up on this topic after I give Amsoil synthetic oil a good test and truly find out the cost difference. YOU REALLY MUST LISTEN TO THIS EPISODE OF THE LAW ABIDING BIKER MOTORCYCLE PODCAST TO REALLY GET ALL THE INFORMATION REFERENCE THIS MATTER.
