We survived the Snowmaggedon! Sure, there was snow...but it's going to be in the 40's next week! We started the week with a look at some interesting facts about US Presidents on Presidents Day, and we hooked you up with a new "Monday Morning Throwback". Plus, a man disrespectfully ate someone else's key lime pie & it led to an arrest. Florida has apparently solved all their problems because the lawmakers are now targeting dogs putting their heads out of the car window! There was also a crazy story about a woman who got catfished into killing someone. We also talked about a #FloridaWoman who really wanted her free cookie from McDonald's. As you probably know, we're fascinated by the possible zombie apocalypse, so we took a look at how prepared the state of WI would be if it actually happened. We were surprisingly low. There's a chonky boi in Poland that's got a five-star rating on Google Maps as a tourist attraction, and we got some really good research on the benefits of a four-day work week. During a "Bad News with Happy Music" segment, we had a couple of very interesting stories...a guy who paints with his tongue...raining fish in Australia....a test-drive gone wrong....and a woman driving the wrong way! Plus, an interesting auction item from the film, "Everything Everywhere All At Once", and a wild video of a moose attacking a woman in Alaska. And of course, a new list of things to do in & around La Crosse this weekend!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

2021 First Quarter Recap, Growth vs. Value, and the Biden Infrastructure Proposal In this week's episode, the Money Wise guys recap market performance for the first quarter of 2021, including the biggest out-performance of the Dow over the NASDAQ since 2002. They also discuss growth versus value, and whether it is a short-term trade or a trend with a more prolonged rotation toward value stocks. With April being consistent as one of the best months for stock investing over the past one hundred years, the guys will also take a look at whether there is potential for higher PE stocks to gain momentum in the second quarter. Jeff, Joe, and Kyle also review what Snowmaggedon taught us about supply chain management and the dangers of a just-in-time inventory system, as well as what parts of the Biden infrastructure plan may be investable. They round out the episode by examining what all these factors could mean for how you should position your portfolio through the rest of 2021. Tune in for all the details! Whether you lived through Snowmaggedon 2021, walked through a recent trial, experienced their life upended -- even if for a short while, and felt so shaken that they were clutching to hold onto anything stable, this episode is for you. In Episode #56, we’re talking about how to extend grace to yourself and others when you’re living through and cleaning up the aftermath of a crisis. In this episode, you’ll take stock of your mental health and learn three ways to extend grace to yourself, plus I share a bonus way to give grace to your kids! Let’s make peace with the fact that you are and were and may continue to be under a tremendous amount of stress. Your brain may feel foggy. You may not be able to muster enough brain space to think more than twenty-four hours in the future. Your heart may feel the hurt of the consistent, vice-like pressure of the last twelve months. To you, I say: Of course, you’re worn out and stressed. You’re doing a great job. You’ve lived through a crisis on top of a crisis, and there’s only so much even the toughest try-hard girl can take before she crumbles. It’s okay to fall apart. Just know, you’re not gonna stay there, because Jesus has good plans for you. Here are 5 easy-peasy ways to give yourself grace as you walk through an acutely stressful time: One: Don’t diminish your hardship by saying “It could be worse.” So often when we go through hard times, we think of all those who experience harder times or live in more extreme circumstances. You and I relegate our pain as unimportant or not a big deal, by saying phrases like, “It could be worse…” or “I’m just so thankful that at least…” Two: Remember when life gets crazy, you don't have to maintain your same productivity level. Grace says when life gets crazy you don't have to keep up. You can live this minute, clinging to the hand of God and do what He asks you to do next. Three: Don’t beat yourself about how you felt or what you did (or didn’t do) during your time of hardship. Do not beat yourself up that you found suffering hard. Do not tell yourself you’re a terrible Christian if you only prayed sporadically -- or not at all. Even a weak faith is held in the almighty, unshakable hands of Jesus. God is faithful when you are faithless. God is not ignorant of your circumstances, and He knows your heart. Four: Ask for forgiveness. Anxiety is all-encompassing right now. If you haven’t lost it with your husband, kids, the dog, or your power company, you just might in the upcoming weeks. Forgiveness is a three-for-one gift: God grants you forgiveness when you sin You can ask for forgiveness when you mess up with your people You can offer forgiveness when your people mess up, even if they don’t ask to be forgiven. Finally, Five: Turn over every feeling to God. Acknowledge every one of those emotions and bring them to Jesus. As my writer friend Sarah Westfall said in Episode 38, emotions are the language of the soul. They are God’s way to get your attention, to point out what’s important to you, and to give you another reason to talk to Him. BONUS: How to give your kids grace in a crisis: Ask your kids how they’re doing. Here are questions I’m asking our girls: What do you need from me? How can you help someone else today? How can you be kind to yourself right now? Have you talked to your friends recently? Our kids don't have the grown-up stress we're experiencing, but snowstorms and a lack of routine impact them too. They don't have the language to process it, so let's help them by listening. Key Quotes It’s okay to fall apart. Just know, you’re not gonna stay there, because Jesus has good plans for you. Grace makes a way for multiple emotions at the same time without a need to justify any of them. Release yourself from any guilt, knowing your God is perfectly aware of your situation and is using it to grow your faith. God says your sin is not greater than His grace. 95% of grace is listening; listening to your heart and those around you. God longs to comfort you. He is with you in the room right now. He is your hope. Previous Episodes Mentioned Episode 38: Real-life grace for the Enneagram Four with Sarah E. Erica from Lake Stevens has asked Fitz for help with a problem with her boyfriend Jeremy. She says last week during “Snowmaggedon” she lost control of her car and got stuck on the side of the road but when she called him for help he wouldn’t come. She says she specifically called him for help because he has a big truck with a winch and could have gotten her out easily but he said he was too busy to help. But what really upset her was that this wasn’t the first time – in fact, she claims, there have been several times that she has called him for help with either car trouble or some other issue where she really needed his help and he wouldn’t come. When Jeremy comes in he says the reason he didn’t help during “Snowmaggedon” was he was working and as an independent contractor he couldn’t just leave work. As for the all the “other times” he can’t explain every single circumstance, but thinks in general Erica needs to learn how to be more self-sufficient. Watch out Jeremy – the P1 Ladies are teeing off on you!

In this podcast we thoroughly discuss the state of the University of Washington's football program, discuss our hopes for its math department and deep dive into this latest recruiting class. We do our best to propose Drew Fowler for sainthood, lament not having LaMichael and make comments on the shuttle times of Oregon recruits that may not be nice.
The fellas are hunkered down to survive the Seattle Snopocalypse the only way they know how... by talking hockey! On this week's episode, John and Darren recap their (not so) harrowing trip to the Everett Silvertips game in the midst of the snow storm. Then together with Andy, they analyze the firing of Randy Carlyle in Anaheim (finally), the St. Louis Blues rising from the dead (was the team puppy the secret?), and the Minnesota Wild getting a bad break that could doom their season. Those topics lead to an impromptu version of Buy, Sell, or Hold. Then in the planned segments, a robust version of Goalie Gear Corner, back by popular demand, plus lots of Weekly One-Timers and Games on the Radar. SUBSCRIBE! ENJOY! REVIEW!
