Emotional eating after bariatric surgery can feel overwhelming, confusing, and deeply personal. In this powerful support group session, we explore DBT skills for emotional eating and how Dialectical Behavior Therapy can help you build a healthier relationship with food without shame, guilt, or restriction. In this episode we cover: • What is DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and how it applies to weight loss surgery patients • Mindfulness techniques to identify physical hunger vs emotional triggers • Emotional regulation skills to manage stress, anxiety, sadness, and boredom without using food • Distress tolerance tools and "urge surfing" strategies for intense cravings • How to respond to emotional triggers without restriction or self-sabotage • Building awareness to support long-term bariatric success Whether you are pre-op, post-op VSG, gastric bypass, revision surgery, or on a GLP-1 medication, these DBT skills are essential for sustainable weight management and mental health support. This session is led by: Anisa Grantham, LPC, MAC Georgia-licensed psychotherapist, Master Addictions Counselor, Bariatric Life Coach, and long-term weight loss surgery patient with over 30 years of experience in emotional wellness, food addiction recovery, and behavioral change. Welcome to the RPGBOT.Podcast—where Unearthed Arcana comes to be lovingly examined, gently mocked, and occasionally asked, "Buddy… are you okay?" Today we're cracking open the latest UA drop from Wizards of the Coast, featuring a Monk who does mystic stuff (but don't ask him what kind), a Paladin who took an oath against spellcasters yet somehow became their HR department, a Rogue whose entire job is "stand near a wizard and vibe," and a Warlock who finally said, "What if I just took the cCeric's homework?" We've got scotch-fueled optimism, holiday fatigue, subclass features that boldly ask for coordination without offering agency, and at least one moment where we all realize: congratulations, you don't have a feature—you have responsibilities. Strap in, casters, because someone's about to give you a massage and call it game design. Show Notes In this episode, Randall James, Tyler Kamstra, and Ash Ely engage in a lively discussion about the latest Unearthed Arcana release, focusing on four new subclasses for Dungeons & Dragons. The conversation kicks off with light banter about personal experiences and preferences, particularly around scotch and the recent holidays. As they delve into the new subclasses, they express mixed feelings about the design choices, particularly criticizing the lack of creativity in naming and mechanics. The hosts explore the intricacies of the Mystic Arts Monk, Oath of the Spellguard Paladin, and the Magic Stealer Rogue, highlighting both the potential and shortcomings of each subclass. Hello Brave Friends! This is a Winter Re-Run of one of our favorite Ask Us Anything episodes from Seasons 5 and 6. Call in to our SpeakPipe to ask YOUR questions and tune in next season, starting in January 2026, for many more.   This is an Ask Us Anything episode in which YOU, the listener, get to write or call in and, you guessed it, ASK US ANYTHING! In this episode, #165, we are discussing how to get the most out of connection circles and in general, support groups, without taking on other attendee's pain. In this community we are ALREADY dealing with our own tough feelings when we step into a group sharing environment and as Dr. Zoe Shaw says, in this episode, “we're wired for protection not connection” so dealing with other people's emotions on top of our own can feel daunting. BUT it doesn't have to feel that way and the community and sisterhood that comes with sharing and holding space for those emotions is so worth facing your own. There are so many wisdom gems, AHA moments and tools in this episode for helping us deconstruct the emotions we feel when in the presence of other people's pain. Please enjoy this important episode of Ask Us Anything. Whether you have questions as a parent to a child with complex medical or mental health needs or you're someone looking to support a care-giving parent, we would LOVE to hear from you. If you have any topic requests or if you would like to ask a question, leave us a message here.Find more information about Licensed Psychotherapist, Dr. Zoe Shaw here. Find more information about Life Coach, Susanna Peace Lovell here.Find Susanna's book, Your True Self is Enough here.Brave Together Podcast is a resource produced by We Are Brave Together, a global nonprofit that creates community for moms raising children with disabilities, neurodivergence, or complex medical and mental health conditions. Rick Davis, patient advocate and Founder of AnCan, is building and operating virtual peer-to-peer support groups to allow patients to connect with others who have direct experience with their condition.  These groups can provide accurate information, foster connections among participants, and serve as a check on medical misinformation. With the growing acceptance of virtual meetings, this approach overcomes geographic, physical, and psychosocial barriers that might otherwise prevent participants from attending on-site meetings. Rick explains, "The mission is to make each person and each patient a better advocate for themselves. That's really what we try to do, and we do that through empowering patients with peer knowledge. We introduce patients to other peers who have been through what these people are facing right now, not only patients, but also their care partners, and through their experience, we hope that these patients and care partners will become more expert in managing their own situation."   "In 2007, when I was first diagnosed with stage three cancer, I attended a physical meeting, and I realized that so many people cannot attend physical meetings because one, they may have a geographical disability, they may have a physical disability, or they may have a psychosocial disability. If we only allow people to exchange views when they're physically in front of each other, it's very limiting. And so I started to look and see what existed in terms of virtual communication. And back in the day, there was very, very little. And that was the motivation that got me started."  "People come into a group, and they hear things that they just wouldn't hear otherwise. And that's why it's so valuable. It's so incredibly valuable. I mean, we had a group last night where a guy came in facing a situation, and by total coincidence, there was somebody from his own city in there who knew the docs that he'd been dealing with, understood the frustration he'd been going through, had been through it himself, and shared his experience. Well, you can't buy that."   #AnCan #AnCanSupport #VirtualSupport #CancerSupport #PeerSupport #PatientAdvocay #DigitalHealth ancan.org Download the transcript here

Episode #302 Sean McCormick, Fasting With Friends Support GroupHello Health Heroes!Sean McCormick shares how he learned dry fasting (no food, no water) and used it to address stubborn health issues. We explore why supporters call it a rapid “reset”: the body can shift toward fat-based fuel and generate “endogenous water” during fat oxidation, a proposed reason thirst can feel lower than expected. We unpack claims Sean studied—reduced inflammation and a stronger immune response during dehydration stress, plus cellular cleanup through autophagy. Proponents also describe faster reduction of “superfluous” tissues (including edema and inflamed tissue) and post-fast increases in stem-cell activity linked to regeneration and rejuvenation. In follow-up surveys after fasting therapy, over 80% reported a persistent positive effect.Sean also explains how he teamed up with his friend Theo to build a live support group—running guided group dry fasts with prep, check-ins, and careful exits—and what he's learned about staying calm when symptoms show up.Enjoy the show!Love & Light,Coach TimP.S. We name the winter blues without sugarcoating them, then share what actually helps: sunlight rituals, happy lights you'll remember to use, and small anchors that turn long dark days into something gentler and more human. We compare notes from different climates—rain-soaked Pacific Northwest, high-desert cold, and Midwest grit—to show how environment shapes mood and energy. From opening the blinds wide and soaking up a fifteen‑minute sun patch to keeping a happy light on your desk, these simple actions add up. We talk about the drag of lost outdoor time, the mental toll of feeling left behind, and the permission to choose steadiness over hustle when your body and brain want warmth and rest.Connection takes center stage. Mark Mongiardo shares the shocking truth behind years of being misunderstood, judged, and even criminally charged — all caused by a rare condition called Auto-Brewery Syndrome (ABS). Without drinking a drop of alcohol, his body would suddenly produce dangerously high blood-alcohol levels, leaving him intoxicated, confused, and fighting for his freedom and reputation.Mark opens up about losing his teaching career, facing felony prison time, and being labeled an alcoholic by coworkers and even family — all while knowing deep down that something wasn't right. His emotional diagnosis came only after two DWIs, a glucose challenge test, and relentless research by his mother and aunt. Once he finally had the truth, he began the long, painful journey of rebuilding his life from scratch.Through strict diet changes, nonstop monitoring, and unbelievable family support, Mark has become a voice for others silently suffering from ABS. His vulnerability, advocacy, and message of E + R = O — Event + Response = Outcomemake this episode one of the most gripping stories we've ever shared.00:00 – What Is Auto Brewery Syndrome?00:36 – Mark's Symptoms and Early Confusion02:00 – Blood Alcohol Spikes Without Drinking03:20 – Two DWIs While Sober05:50 – The Turning Point: Something Was Wrong07:25 – Arrested Sober… Again09:00 – Living With Constant Accusations10:15 – The Search for Answers Begins12:00 – The Glucose Challenge Test13:35 – The Emotional Diagnosis15:10 – Family Misunderstandings and Strain17:00 – Years of Being Labeled an Alcoholic19:00 – Learning to Manage Daily Flares21:00 – Fears About His Children and Genetics24:00 – Rebuilding His Life From Nothing27:00 – Losing His Career and Home29:00 – Starting Over With E+R=O30:20 – The Strict Zero-Carb, Zero-Sugar Lifestyle32:00 – Support Groups and Advocacy Work34:00 – Finding Community and Spreading Awareness ----Across the Web----

Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”A hidden magazine in fifth grade. A dopamine hit. A secret that follows a boy into high school, dating, and marriage. That's how our conversation starts, and from there we get honest about why porn isn't just a bad habit—it's a widespread, tech-fueled crisis that reshapes the brain, hollows out intimacy, and turns love into consumption. With coach and founder Steve O'Connor from Catholics Fight Porn, we unpack how a culture of access and silence traps good men and women in cycles of shame. We dig into emotional regulation—what to do when stress, boredom, or rejection hit—and how to rewire reward pathways with small, repeatable actions like check-ins, movement, and breath. You'll hear why filters and wise phones help, but why accountability and brotherhood are the multiplier. We also face the damage inside marriages. Betrayal trauma is real. If you or someone you love is struggling, you're not alone and you're not doomed. Listen, share, and then take one step: reach out for help, join a group, or set a boundary today. If this conversation helped, follow the show, leave a review, and pass it to a friend who needs hope. Here are the links to Jack's Substack and  X https://x.com/JP2RenewalCheck out the Podcast on YouTubeContact me: info@jp2renew.orgSupport the show
