SCARED TO DEATH IS EXPLICIT IN EVERY WAY. PLEASE TAKE CARE WHILE LISTENING.The first of Dan's stories this week is the more documented of the two. Dan will be taking everyone to the late 1930s, and to the Greater London area of England, to examine the haunting of Alma Fielding. In 1938, Alma Fielding, a 34-year-old housewife in Thornton Heath, a southern suburb of London, went to the press complaining of a poltergeist having invaded her home. Many, many people witnessed intense paranormal activity centered around Alma. The second story is the tale of a 19th century South Carolina woman who seems to have suffered an incredibly tragic death when she was accidentally buried alive. Does the ghost of Julia Legare still haunt her family's tomb on Edisto Island, South Carolina? Lynze's portion of the show is made up of four small stories: a skin walker, a ghost, a self driving school bus and the woman in the mirror! Enjoy! New Merch: Super cool new Swamp Monster tee in the merch store this week. In this episode David Strank, Director of Stranks Removals & Storage discusses how he became a third-generation remover after beginning his fulltime career in the industry at the tender age of 16 (although he helped in his father's business from the age of 11!), even after being told not to join the family business. Stranks Removals & Storage was started by David's grandfather in Thornton Heath, Surrey, in 1941, who was an engineer by trade working in the bomb factory during the day and moving people from their bombed homes during the night. Today Stranks Removals & Storage are based in Ashford, Kent, having taken the decision several years ago to completely relocate themselves to a brand new area. They cover all aspects of removals, running 4 trucks, 5 vans, employ 17 staff and store 250 containers within their own 13,000 sqft warehouse. David's challenges have been varied, but an immense challenge was relocating the company from Thornton Heath to Ashford. Covid was and still is a massive challenge, and so too is accepting change. David would like to change a few things from his moving past, not taking things personally, joining the BAR earlier, not to get too familiar with staff, and try to employ nonfamily members within the office. One of David's biggest highpoints was to see his son join the business and become a fourth-generation remover, his other highpoints include becoming chairman of the BAR Kent Area, and then becoming elected as a BAR DED (Directly Elected Director), something David has thoroughly enjoyed. David would like the industry to be recognised, but he would also like to change the completion system as in its current state it is simply not fit for purpose anymore. The advice David would give, firstly to his son who hasn't long been in the industry himself is to always go that extra mile, and then to himself just starting out in the industry again is to ensure you make time for yourself outside of the industry. In the next 5 years David sees himself hopefully only working 3-4 days a week, industry wise he does believe the completion system will change, emission zones and thus vehicles will play a big part within the industry, full packing (and unpacking) will become the norm as more and more people work from home, and we'll continue to have problems with recruiting and keeping drivers. Outside of the industry David is very active, competing in motorcycle trials (show jumping on motorcycles), playing golf, and enjoying the 8 acres of land that came with his own recent house move. And as always with end Moving Matters with several short funny moving stories, involving moves in snow, a moustache, a man in a dress, and a dilemma over intimate photographs! Enjoy! We can't believe Halloween came and went so quickly. But just because it's over doesn't mean we stopped bringing you spooky stories. We're continuing to bring you spooky vibes all November - check out our cases: Carly covers the Hello Kitty murder case. In 1999 Hong Kong , 23 year old Fan Man-Yee was kidnapped, tortured, and murdered by a group connected to the mafia. They dismembered her body and sewed her skull inside a Hello Kitty stuffed doll. This case is considered one of the most gruesome murder cases in Hong Kong's history. Dani covers the Alma Fielding poltergeist, aka the Croydon poltergeist, aka the Thornton Heath poltergeist. After a string of shattered glasses, lightbulbs, and eggs in the house, Alma called for help. There are hundreds and thousands of cases of hauntings and ghost activity, spread across the world, and across time. We hear the tales of the things which go bump in the night, the whispers of the shadows who duck from sight just as our eyes catch them in the doorways and corners. We see the grainy photos, the questionable orbs, the video footage of the door creaking open by itself. Some of it is remarkable, some of it could surely be proof of something. Though much of it can also be explained away, debunked, at the very least doubted. But occasionally, there is a case which cannot be disputed. A situation, of a haunting by ghosts or spirits, the dead, the passed-on, or by what we know as a poltergeist. Many would posit that such things are not indeed spirits of the once-living, but separate entities entirely. When the great, landmark cases come along, they are documented and studied and remembered throughout time, and the evidence and the happenings which took place during it become the next clues towards what exactly is going on. We have the case surrounding Borley Rectory or Thornton Heath, the events surrounding the legends of the Bell Witch or the Black Monk of Pontefract, and the infamous Enfield poltergeist. With a level of intrigue, seeming confidence in itself, and an unparalleled level of violence and intensity, none are more worthy of note than the case of the South Shields poltergeist. My guest tonight was a writer and researcher of all things paranormal with numerous publications to his name, when he was contacted to help with the case. What ensued over the months which followed present a terrifying and inarguable case of torment and horror. It is with great pleasure that we welcome Darren W Ritson to the show to talk about his work and the case and to tell us how he was thrown into the middle of a whirlwind which left him no choice but to Peer Beyond The Veil. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/peerbeyondtheveil/support

Poltergeists: does anyone even call them that anymore? This week, Geordie & Michelle look at three scary London hauntings from the 1930s, the 1950s and the 1970s... But only after Geordie does a swear, there's a brief mention of Eavesdroppin' Patron Saint Ben Mendelsohn, Geordie gives herself 10 Jen points and the pair speak in bad German accents. So... onto the hauntings! Michelle kicks off the ep with the tale of Alma Fielding and the Thornton Heath haunting. Did Alma's pink porcelain dog really smash? Did Alma really manifest a mouse? Why is no one called Alma anymore? Big questions on this week's episode. Was Alma's house really haunted or was she simply projecting repressed memories... You decide! Geordie moves onto the notorious case of the Enfield Haunting... Specifically, the BBC show The Reunion and the time she heard it in her car and had to pull over, she was so scared! We hear all about the two Peggys, 11 year old Janet Hodgson and a foul mouthed entity called Bill Wilkins who seems to be in love with Janet and how he haunted their lives for 18 months. This was after the girls used a ouija board... SO PEEPS, REMEMBER, YOUR OUIJA BOARD IS NOT A TOY!!!! Then it's onto the Battersea Poltergeist... sit back, grab a cup of mushroom coffee and let Geordie tell you all about Shirley Hitchings and Donald the poltergeist, who haunted her and her family for 12 YEARS!!!! yep. Whoa. What the actual F. Tapping, hammer toes, flying objects and media skepticism all kept the case alive for more than a decade, but at the end of it all, who really knows whether Donald was real or not or indeed, whether any of us will ever know whether Poltergeists truly exist...    Enjoy the episode and KEEP EAVESDROPPIN'! Late Night Live - Separate stories podcast

Between the grief-stricken World Wars, poltergeists were very busy all over Britain. They were very active tormenting families in quiet neighbourly suburbs with their noisy rumblings, feats of furniture movement, smashing cups, saucers, anything that wasn't pinned down, apparently. Seances were very fashionable, and efforts to document hauntings by ghosts or poltergeists, to find solid evidence for their existence or not, were serious and intense. Nandor Fodor, chief ghost hunter at the International Institute for Psychical Research, investigated the haunting of Alma Fielding, a 34 year old housewife from Thornton Heath whose life was being made miserable by uncontrollable and inexplicable events. So were poltergeists real, or were they actually a reflection of Alma Fielding's own traumatic past?

Roy Stemman is Editor of Psychic News  was a weekly British Spiritualist newspaper published from 1932 to July 2010, and revived with a change in ownership in December 2011. The first issue of the paper was published on 28 May 1932. The name of the paper was devised by one of its founding editors, Maurice Barbanell, who said that he was told to use it by his spirit guide. The other founding members were Hannen Swaffer, a Fleet Street journalist, and Arthur Findlay, a notable figure in the history of Spiritualism in Britain. In 1938 psychical researcher Nandor Fodor was attacked in the Psychic News newspaper for his skeptical evaluation of the Thornton Heath poltergeist case. Fodor sued the newspaper for libel.[1] The publisher of Psychic News from 1932 to 1980 was Psychic Press Ltd. The newspaper was next supported by the Spiritual Truth Foundation (STF). In 1995 the Spiritualists National Union (SNU) acquired it, and both the publishing and bookshop departments were relocated to Stansted Hall — better known as The Arthur Findlay College.[2] With the rise of the Internet PN added a web site, which included a bookstore and back issue division for online sales. Although the primary focus of the Psychic News was always Spiritualism, and it was strongly associated with the SNU even before that organization acquired ownership of it, it was the policy of PN to cover a wide variety of subjects of interest to its readers. For instance, in November 1947 the paper covered the fact that a committee of Anglican ministers had supported Spiritualism in 1936 and that the report had been suppressed by the Anglican Church. This investigative report by the Psychic News caused the Psychic News itself to become the topic of articles in The New York Times and the Los Angeles Times.[4][5] In the 1950s and 1960s, with the rise of the neopagan religion of Wicca, several articles about Wicca and witchcraft were published in the magazine, including “Genuine Witchcraft Is Defended” by Robert Cochrane. From that time forward the newspaper dealt with other paranormal, supernatural and New Age topics in addition to spiritualism.

Alex had Thameside Radio "fast food surveys" from  Spud-u-Like in Shepherd's Bush and Huckleberry's in Oxford Street. The report also featured the Birdman's "No-one Loves Me (Just 'Cause I Eat Worms).   The Birdman has a really great beginning to his show.   Loads of dedications on Bob's show.
