Experience Plus! is a premium bicycle tour company with a great past. Back in the late 60's a foreign exchange student from Italy met a high schooler in Oregon. They parted ways but reunited, fell in love and married. They chose to live in the US but wanted to travel. To make ends meet they put up posters to get people to join them on a bike trip to Italy, and it was a huge success. Throughout the years they continued doing tours and eventually decided to make a business of it. Today Experience Plus! is owned and operated by the couple's daughters, including today's guest Maria Elena. They offer over 100 premium tours in places like Europe and South America including the classic guided tours, bike & boat tours as well as gravel explorations. The issue of homelessness—or being unhoused, or facing housing scarcity—isn't something we often talk about when it comes to travel, unless it's in a negative sense. In this episode, however, we're going to meet a London-based tour company that's working on bringing homelessness into the tourism narrative. It's called Unseen Tours, a nonprofit founded in 2010 by Jayni Gudka. It offers London tours that touch on many of the city's most popular sites and neighborhoods—Soho, King's Cross—with a twist: They're led by individuals who were once homeless. But the tours are not poverty tourism. They're history-rich, city-focused walking excursions led by people with a very special kind of knowledge. Meet this week's guests Rachel Parsons, journalist Nic Shaw, guide with Unseen Tours Jayni Gudka, CEO of Unseen Tours Resources Read a full transcript of the episode. Book a tour with Unseen Tours. Meghan is joined by Jared Rubalcaba to discuss patterns of truth from the Ancient Egyptian civilization. Topics Include: - Studying Without Bias - Becoming a Temple - Comparing Temple Practices and PatternsEsoteric Egypt, Vol 1 Online CourseJared Rubalcaba is a co-owner of Forbidden Adventure -- a Tour Company that specializes in esoteric, religious, cultural, and historical travel to destinations all over the world. Their mission is to provide meaningful and transformative experiences to the intentional traveler looking to capture knowledge, wisdom, and life-changing self-discovery. Jared also serves as a guide for some of their most frequented destinations including Peru, England, Scotland, and of course, his beloved Egypt. Jared received his Bachelor of Science in Outdoor Leadership Training; which has served as his foundation of Experience Management centered around learning and teaching others recreationally, professionally, and spiritually. Jared has been an Instructor for Martial Arts, SCUBA, Rock Climbing, Wilderness Survival, Leadership Development Training, and a myriad of Guide experiences across the globe. Jared's professional career has been spent working primarily with Youth in Wilderness, Residential, or State Therapeutic Programs. His passion is the healing and self-discovery that can be found in nature and discovering one's place in the cosmos. This bio should be accompanied by an image of him wearing a T-Shirt saying, “The Mountains are Calling, and I Must Go!” For Jared the connection between nature and spiritual nourishment is inseparable. As a young adult, Jared served a two-year Ecclesiastical Mission on the Kiribati (Kit-uh-bus) Islands; but his spiritual tutelage started at a much younger age and has lasted throughout his adult life—exploring various religions and scriptural texts from many sects of Christianity throughout history, Taoism, Buddhism, Indigenous creeds and rituals, Near Eastern Religions, Gnosticism, and Hermeticism. His years of religious studies have been the prelude to encountering the truths hidden in the symbols, rituals, hieroglyphs, and architecture of Egypt. For the past several years his focus has been on the oldest religious text in the world—the Ancient Egyptian Pyramid Texts—and has recently completed his own translation of the Pyramid of Unas. He married up to a woman entirely too good for him and together they have two deep-thinking and very funny boys.

Originally Recorded: 2022/05/29 Bridget speaks with the owner/operator of #GeorgiaTourCompany, Julie, about the tour company's inception: it's humble beginnings as a craft goods shop (selling jams, trinkets, and other local fair) & being approached by The Walking Dead staff and fans about local filming locations, to starting her own walking tours (with exclusive access to some sites), and finally expanding the operation to include 2+ days worth of #TWD film settings (including several other series locations, such as #FriedGreenTomatoes, #MCU, and even #StrangerThings). In the age of social media, it can sometimes feel impossible to grow a business without sharing your life on Instagram or spending big bucks on expensive ads. However, today's guest is proof that patience, hard work, and of course a super high-quality product, can still result in fantastic growth. Lisa Benjamin and her husband Tom first launched Go Cotswolds, a boutique bus tour company that takes visitors around the Cotswolds, in 2014. What started as a one-man operation has grown into an award-winning business with over 900 Trip Advisor reviews. Their tours are so highly acclaimed that even Rick Steves himself paid them a visit and wrote them a raving review in one of his guidebooks. In this episode we hear Lisa's story of how she and her husband have built Go Cotswolds up to what it is today, using organic and grassroots strategies that prove you don't need a big budget or a huge following on social media to have a super successful business. Lisa is a breath of fresh air and learning how this tour company has grown over the years is so inspiring. So I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it. Thinking about booking a group tour for an upcoming vacation? There are plenty of benefits to this type of trip plus a few drawbacks. I think a big part of planning a great trip is being informed about what to expect. Today my plan is to share my view on the positives and negatives of going on a trip with a tour company. We've done group trips to Ireland, Spain, Switzerland & Austria, Scotland, Egypt, and Israel. We recently returned from a group tour trip to Israel and Egypt and that got me thinking about all of the things I thought were great about this type of travel plus the things I don't love which may prevent me from booking another group tour in the near future.

Today's guest is Clayton Prince. Clayton, a native of the Germantown section of Philadelphia was acting in off Broadway shows with the likes of Robert Downey Jr at the age of 17. Graduating HS, Clayton received a scholarship to study math at Temple University but dropped out when a professor would not let him reschedule a final exam when the time conflicted with an audition he needed to attend. At that moment, Clayton decided to go all in and purse his dream of becoming an actor. Clayton gave up his scholarship, dropped out of college and moved to NYC vowing never to return to Philly until he succeeded. At one point, Clayton was sleeping on the couch in a crack house in Brooklyn and living on $7 a day when his big break came. Clayton auditioned for and won the role of Lisa Bonnet's (Denise Huxtable) boyfriend on the second season of The Cosby Show. Clayton not only got the part but he literally stole the show. He ad libbed the scene and became known as the Reggae singing boyfriend in an episode that not only broke a Neilson ratings record but became the #1 rated Cosby show all time. Overnight, Clayton went from struggling actor to needing police to help him get out of the NYC subway the day after the episode aired. Clayton and I discuss the tough road he traveled to make it as an actor. how he and fellow actor Blair Underwood had to sell children's to support them themselves between acting gigs, and what it was like to star in cult classic movies like The Last Dragon and Hair Spray. Clayton tells us what it was like growing up with a father coming in out of his life and why he believes parents should let their children find their own way and not have expectations on path their kids need to take. We also talk how Clayton got into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the lessons he learned in BJJ that helped him succeed in acting and what it was like to get his blue belt from UFC legend Royce Gracie. Clayton shares an amazing story of his Dad's secret business and the time when his Dad was confronted by the Philadelphia mob. Clayton also talks about his new tour company came and what it is like to be an entrepreneur. So… Thank you for listening. If you like what you hear, please HIT the SUBSCRIBE BUTTON. We have a bunch of cool interviews, like this one, to come.
