Guided Thanksgiving Meditation: Embracing Gratitude and New Beginnings

In my recent episode of The Blogger Genius Podcast, I recorded my newest Thanksgiving guided meditation reflecting on our past year, expressing gratitude, and setting our intentions for the year ahead. Here's the transcript of the meditation to read and enjoy. Happy Thanksgiving! Transcript of my 2024 Thanksgiving Meditation: Embracing Gratitude and New Beginnings Jillian Leslie 00:00:04 Hello and welcome back to The Blogger Genius Podcast. I am Jillian Leslie, your host. If you've been listening to my podcast for a while, you know, at Thanksgiving I like to record a short guided meditation. So today I'm calling this meditation "Gratitude and New Beginnings" because these are two concepts I hope to focus on in my own life in the coming year. And I thought you might like to also. So together right now, let's put our busyness aside for these ten minutes and focus on the abundance in our lives and the bright possibilities of the year ahead. So let this be a space for clarity, curiosity, and optimism as we set the stage for new beginnings. So let's take a deep breath. In and out. And again, in and out. And let's settle into the present moment. Allow your body to relax. Your shoulders to soften your mind to quiet and your heart to open. And let's start with gratitude. So right now think about the people experiences and lessons that have shaped you this year. Jillian Leslie 00:01:50 So just take a moment and think about what it is that you're grateful for. Now I'm going to pepper this meditation with just a few of my favorite Mark Twain quotes, because I have been seeing them pop up in things I've been reading, and I've been thinking, Mark Twain just has a way of saying things that penetrate. So let's start with this first quote. The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else. Have powerful, right? So take a moment to reflect on how those small acts of kindness, both given and received, have brightened your life. Is there someone you've said something nice to you and you've watched them smile, and then you smile in response? Or has someone said something nice to you recently and it's touched you, and you know that it's touched them right back. So feel the warmth of those moments and allow yourself to savor them. We all Impact each other. And now consider how gratitude connects us to something larger than ourselves. So let's meditate on the idea that kindness and gratitude transcend all barriers. Jillian Leslie 00:03:28 Picture yourself surrounded by this light of kindness, radiating outward to touch everyone you meet. And as you do. Take a deep breath. In and out. In and out. As we reflect on the year that's passed, it's easy to hold on to worries and regrets. Now, this quote I looked up recently because if there is one that could sum up my life, it would be this quote. I've had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened. So yes, I am a worrier. I'm a planner. I'm always looking for the other shoe to drop. I'm looking for where danger is lurking. And I ask you, does this sound familiar? Because I never go back and say to myself, That turned out okay because I've moved on to the next worry. So reminding myself that sometimes I can spend a lot of my effort consumed, consumed with fear about things that never come to pass. And if I could even take one tenth of that energy and put it toward faith, my overall time on this planet might be a lot lighter. Jillian Leslie 00:05:02 And if only I could channel that energy into more positive uses. So this is the intention I'm setting for myself in the new year. It's trusting in myself, trusting in my friends and family, and knowing that if something does not work out, I have the inner strength to deal with it and move forward. I do believe it's better to live in a world of faith than fear, and I will be working on that. And if you're a worrier too, I challenge you to do the same. Even if it's just in little ways. So please join me. And I'm also going to ask myself, what worries am I holding on to that no longer serve me? Can I say goodbye to them? Can I see them for what they really are? Things that keep me stuck and paralyzed. So together, let's call up a worry. So think of a worry and visualize it in your hands and place it in a box in front of you. And now conjure up another worry. Hold it in your hands. Jillian Leslie 00:06:33 And place it in the box. And finally, a third worry. Hold it and then place it in the box. Now in your mind. Shut the box and push it away from you. So it's no longer near you. So it's completely out of sight. Our fears don't have to define us. And now feel the space we've just created within ourselves a space of peace and openness and readiness for what's to come. And with that, let's take a deep breath. In and out and in and out. Now let's turn our focus toward the future. Imagine what 2025 could hold for you and your business and your family and your dreams. So Mark Twain said, the secret of getting ahead is getting started. I use this exact quote in a bunch of my presentations just to get people to take that first step. So think about what new beginnings you want to embrace in the year ahead. Where can you take that small step forward even today? Please let go of perfection. Embrace, be minus work and lean into progress. Jillian Leslie 00:08:30 So as we picture ourselves moving forward, let's take a deep breath. In and out and in and out. As we envision 2025. Let's approach it with curiosity. Here's another Mark Twain quote I really like. The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why. Let's start that again. As we envisioned 2025, Let's approach it with curiosity. And here's another Mark Twain quote I really like. The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why. Ask yourself, what's my deeper? Why? What fuels me? What lights me up? So let's take a moment to ask yourself that. And now make a note of the first thought that popped into your mind. And make a note of the feeling that idea brought up. Did it light you up? Get you a little excited? So let that purpose guide your vision for the new year. Put on the hat of the helper. Who can you impact? Whose life can you change? This is where you want to go deeper in both your business and your personal life. Jillian Leslie 00:10:26 And I call this having real impact. In fact, picture picture yourself waking up each morning in 2025 with a feeling of hope, creativity and excitement for what lies ahead. So with that vision, take a deep breath. In and out and in and out. Building something new isn't always easy, but it's always worth it when it's aligned with your purpose. 2025 is a year to celebrate your wins, big and small, and let them leave marks of pride and happiness on your heart. You are stronger than you think. With courage, curiosity and resilience, you can create something extraordinary. Take a deep breath in. And out and in and out. One more intention for the year ahead. Think about traveling outside of your comfort zone. Try new things. Meet new people. Take risks. Because this is where the growth happens. What new connections, ideas or opportunities can you open yourself to in 2025? How can you expand your perspective to embrace growth and innovation? Let go of what's not working and instead get curious about what could work. Jillian Leslie 00:12:20 The future is bright. It's full of possibility, and it is waiting for you. So as I close, take one more deep breath. In and out and in and out. Carry with you the gratitude of this moment and the optimism of new beginnings. Remember, 2025 is yours to create one courageous step at a time. Thank you for joining me in this meditation of gratitude and new beginnings. I am so grateful for you, for your vision and your journey. Happy Thanksgiving! I want to hear from you! Now I'd love to hear from you. What are you hoping to create or achieve in 2025 for your business and life? What small, courageous steps are you ready to take? Share your thoughts with me—whether it's an idea for growth, a goal you're setting, or a worry you're ready to let go of. Let's make 2025 the year we embrace curiosity, gratitude, and bold action. ⚡ Book your free 20-minute digital product strategy call with me and discover how to boost your income in Q4! ⚡ As the fourth quarter (Q4) of the year approaches, bloggers are gearing up for one of the busiest and most lucrative times of the year. With major holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's on the horizon, it's crucial to have a solid strategy in place. In my recent episode of The Blogger Genius Podcast, I share thoughts and strategies on how bloggers can prepare for Q4. I break down actionable steps for how to thrive during this busy season. But success during this time isn't about quick fixes or magical hacks. Instead, it's about doubling down on fundamental strategies and focusing on genuine connections with your audience. Key Questions to Guide Your Strategy Here are my two essential questions that every blogger should consider: Where do I have the most impact and connection with your audience? Where are you making money now? These questions are powerful in guiding your efforts and ensuring that you focus on what truly matters. Identifying Your Impact and Connection Points To determine where you have the most impact and connection with your audience, consider the following: Analyze Your Traffic Sources: Look at your analytics to see which platforms are driving the most traffic to your blog. Is it Pinterest, Google SEO, Instagram, or another platform? Engagement Metrics: Assess where your audience is most engaged. Which posts get the most comments, shares, and likes? Feedback and Interaction: Pay attention to where you receive the most feedback and interaction from your audience. This could be through blog comments, social media interactions, or email responses. Understanding Your Revenue Streams Next, identify where your revenue is currently coming from: Display Ads: Are display ads a significant source of income for you? If so, focus on driving more traffic to your blog. Affiliate Sales: If affiliate sales are a key revenue stream, consider creating more content that promotes your affiliate products. Product Sales: Whether you sell digital products, printables, or physical goods, ensure that your marketing efforts are aligned with promoting these items. Doubling Down on What Works I had a plant that thrived but eventually became overgrown and unmanageable. This metaphor illustrates the importance of cutting back on less effective strategies to nurture what is truly working. Here's how you can apply this principle: Focus on High-Impact Platforms Pinterest: If Pinterest is a major traffic driver for you, invest time in creating eye-catching pins and optimizing your boards. Google SEO: Ensure your blog posts are optimized for search engines. This includes using relevant keywords, optimizing meta descriptions, and building backlinks. Instagram: If Instagram is where you connect most with your audience, focus on creating engaging stories, reels, and posts that resonate with your followers. Create High-Quality Content In a world filled with AI-generated content and fleeting trends, I emphasize the value of genuine human connection. Focus on creating fewer, high-quality pieces of content that provide real value to your audience. This approach not only fosters deeper connections but also aligns with what search engines like Google are looking for. Addressing Audience Pain Points Get laser-focused on the specific pain points of your audience. Here's how you can do this: Conduct Audience Research Surveys and Polls: Use surveys and polls to gather insights into the challenges and needs of your audience. Social Media Listening: Pay attention to the conversations happening on social media. What are people talking about? What problems are they facing? Feedback Analysis: Review the feedback you've received from your audience. What common themes or issues emerge? Create Solutions Once you understand your audience's pain points, create content and products that address these issues. For example, I share a story about a gluten-free baker who connected deeply with her audience by acknowledging their struggles and positioning her products as solutions. Growing Your Email List An effective email list remains one of the most powerful tools for monetization. I emphasize the importance of growing your email list and offers the following tips: Create an Irresistible Freebie Identify Pain Points: Create a freebie that addresses a specific pain point of your audience. This could be a cheat sheet, e-book, or printable. Promote It Widely: Share your freebie across all your platforms, including your blog, social media, and email signature. Nurture Your Subscribers Welcome Sequence: Set up an automated welcome sequence to introduce new subscribers to your brand and provide value from the start. Regular Communication: Send regular emails with valuable content, updates, and promotions to keep your audience engaged. Taking a Holistic View of Your Business The secret to business success lies in taking a holistic view of your business. Focus on what truly matters—authentic connections and solving real problems. By doing so, you can set yourself up for success in Q4 and beyond. Consider Adding Digital Products I suggest you consider the addition of digital products to your offerings. Digital products can provide a scalable source of income and offer value to your audience. Seek Expert Guidance To help navigate your next steps, I offers a free 20-minute strategy call. This can be an invaluable resource for gaining personalized advice and insights. Conclusion By focusing on genuine connections, understanding audience pain points, and nurturing effective strategies, you can position yourself for success in Q4 and lay the groundwork for long-term growth. Remember, the key to success lies not in a checklist of tasks but in taking a holistic view of your business and focusing on what truly matters. ⚡ Book your free 20-minute digital product strategy call with me and discover how to boost your income in Q4! ⚡ In today's episode of The Blogger Genius Podcast, I'm talking to Rand Fishkin, the founder of SparkToro and a leading expert in digital marketing and SEO. In May 2024 there was a significant Google search documentation leak, and the documents were actually leaked to Rand. The documents provide a rare glimpse into how Google ranks content and what the challenges are that smaller blogs and businesses face in gaining visibility. If you are trying to understand how SEO works today, this is a must-listen to episode. Show Notes: MiloTreeCart Book a FREE 20-minute call with me Write Your Ebook with These 13 AI Prompts SparkToro MiloTree Pop-Up Join My Blogger Genius Email List Become a Blogger Genius Facebook Group All Blogger Genius Podcast Episodes Subscribe to the Blogger Genius Podcast: iTunes YouTube Spotify Understanding Google's Algorithm: Key Takeaways The Complexity of Google's Ranking System Rand reveals that the leaked documents are not SEO guidelines but rather API documentation detailing the engineering behind Google's ranking system. This documentation includes around 14,000 unique features that contribute to how Google ranks content across its platforms, including search and YouTube. While the leak provides insights into what factors Google considers, it does not reveal the weight or importance of each factor in the ranking process. Actionable Advice: Focus on Quality Content: Given the complexity of Google's ranking system, it's crucial to prioritize high-quality, relevant content that meets the needs of your audience. Diversify Your Content: Consider creating content across various formats, such as blog posts, videos, and infographics, to increase your chances of ranking well on different platforms. Brand Mentions and YouTube Transcripts One surprising finding from the leak is Google's use of brand mentions in YouTube transcripts as a ranking factor. Frequent mentions of a brand in relevant videos can positively influence rankings. Actionable Advice: Leverage Video Content: Create YouTube videos that mention your brand and relevant keywords. Ensure your videos are well-optimized with accurate transcripts. Collaborate with Influencers: Partner with YouTube influencers to mention your brand in their videos, increasing your brand's visibility and potential ranking. Discounting Low-Quality Links Google's method of discounting low-quality links based on Chrome traffic is another interesting point. If users do not click on a link, it is deemed less valuable, effectively reducing the impact of spammy links. Actionable Advice: Build High-Quality Backlinks: Focus on acquiring backlinks from reputable websites that drive genuine traffic to your site. Monitor Your Link Profile: Regularly audit your backlink profile to identify and disavow low-quality or spammy links. The Role of Social Media Links While Google has historically downplayed the importance of social signals, the documentation suggests that links from platforms like Instagram can be valuable if they drive traffic to a website. Actionable Advice: Optimize Social Media Profiles: Ensure your social media profiles are optimized with links to your website and relevant content.   Engage on Social Media: Actively engage with your audience on social media platforms to drive traffic to your website. Strategies for Smaller Blogs and Businesses Finding Untapped Channels Rand suggests that smaller businesses should seek out channels and sources of influence that their competitors are not targeting. These avenues are often harder to measure, which is why larger companies tend to overlook them. Actionable Advice: Public Relations: Focus on PR efforts, such as getting featured in local media, niche podcasts, and industry blogs. Collaborations: Partner with smaller brands and influencers to reach new audiences. Building Brand Recognition Rand shares his experience with SparkToro, explaining that they have built their brand by participating in podcasts, webinars, and conferences, rather than relying heavily on SEO or traditional advertising. Actionable Advice: Participate in Industry Events: Attend and speak at industry conferences, webinars, and podcasts to build your brand's recognition. Content Collaborations: Collaborate with other brands and influencers to create co-branded content that reaches a wider audience. Embracing Zero-Click Content The concept of "zero-click content" focuses on being present on social media platforms without necessarily driving traffic back to a website. Building brand loyalty and trust is crucial, especially in an age where AI-generated content is becoming more prevalent. Actionable Advice: Engage on Social Media: Create engaging content for social media platforms that builds brand loyalty and trust. Focus on Value: Provide valuable content that resonates with your audience, even if it doesn't drive immediate traffic to your website. The Importance of Personal Branding and Audience Research Aligning Your Personal Brand Rand emphasizes the importance of aligning your personal brand with your audience's interests. Visualize a Venn diagram where one circle represents your passions and beliefs, while the other represents your audience. The overlap is where you should focus your content creation, product development, and messaging. Actionable Advice: Define Your Brand: Clearly define your brand's values, mission, and unique selling points. Today I'm rebroadcasting one of my most popular episodes from 2024 where I interview Pinterest marketing expert, Kayla Watkins, on how bloggers can amplify their organic traffic and monetize their content through Pinterest. The Ever-Evolving World of Pinterest In the digital age, staying ahead of the curve is crucial, and for niche bloggers, the recent Google updates have been a game-changer. As someone who's passionate about helping fellow bloggers diversify their income streams, I've seen many turn to selling digital products as a viable option. In fact, I offer a free 20-minute digital product strategy call to help develop a digital product strategy and share best practices for monetization success. During my chat with Kayla, we explore the current trends in Pinterest marketing and how to make the most of this visual platform. Kayla's expertise in crafting effective Pinterest strategies to increase pageviews is invaluable, especially for bloggers in the food, fashion, beauty, and lifestyle categories. Kayla Watkins MiloTree Pop-Up App Join My Blogger Genius Email List Become a Blogger Genius Facebook Group All Blogger Genius Podcast Episodes Tailwind Canva Subscribe to the Blogger Genius Podcast: iTunes YouTube Spotify The Art of Pinterest Optimization Pinterest is more than just a collection of beautiful images; it's a search engine marketing tool that requires a keen understanding of keyword research, content optimization, and pinning strategy. Kayla emphasizes the importance of finding the right keywords so you can create fresh pins to pin to your relevant boards, and updating existing blog content to stay relevant and maximize engagement. She also shares her approach to content scheduling and distribution, recommending tools like Tailwind to schedule pins and Canva for designing eye-catching Pinterest pins. Kayla's advice on pin design, Pinterest boards, pin titles and descriptions is clear: keep them concise, informative, and keyword-rich to resonate with Pinterest users. The Long Game: Building Sustainable Traffic from Pinterest One of the most striking points Kayla makes is the long-term nature of Pinterest traffic. Unlike the instant gratification of platforms like Instagram, Pinterest rewards patience and persistence. It's about trial and error, refining strategies over time, and understanding that significant results may take months to materialize. Kayla also touched on the future of Pinterest, predicting a continued focus on e-commerce. She encourages businesses to align their strategies with user behavior on the platform and to consider Pinterest ads to amplify viral content and evergreen posts. Leveraging Pinterest for Long-Term Stability Pinterest stands out as a social media platform that drives traffic to blogs or websites, offering a level of stability and control that's hard to find elsewhere. Kayla contrasted this with the fleeting nature of success on other social media platforms, highlighting Pinterest's role as a reliable partner in a business's long-term strategy as long as you understand the Pinterest algorithm. Repurposing Blog Content for Maximum Impact and Pageviews During our conversation, Kayla shares a personal success story about repurposing her Instagram content on Threads, the new social media platform by Instagram. By translating her most saved Instagram posts to fit the Threads format, she's seen a significant increase in engagement and email subscribers. This strategy has proven to be a game-changer, allowing her to insert her expertise into relevant conversations and grow her community. Key Takeaways and Next Steps My biggest takeaway from this enlightening discussion is the importance of a comprehensive Pinterest marketing strategy. It's essential to have a defined blog niche, solve problems for your audience, and incorporate relevant keywords into your content. Remember, Pinterest is a marathon, not a sprint, and it rewards those who are consistent and strategic in their content creation. If you're looking to diversify your income and drive traffic to your blog, consider leveraging tools like MiloTreeCart to sell digital products and create sales pages with ease. It's an excellent way to start monetizing your content and expanding your revenue streams. I hope you've found this blog post informative and inspiring. Over time, she realized the potential of digital products to provide additional value to her audience and generate revenue. Here are the main steps she took to make this transition: Identifying the Right Digital Products Tammy started by identifying the types of digital products that would resonate with her audience. She focused on creating products that aligned with her blog's theme and addressed her readers' needs. Some of the digital products she developed include: Meal Prep Lessons: Using her expertise in meal prep, Tammy created a series of lessons to help her audience plan and prepare meals efficiently.   Ebook Bundles: She compiled her best recipes and meal prep tips into ebooks, offering them as bundles for added value.   Healthy Eating Challenges: Tammy designed a ten-day healthy eating challenge kit, providing her audience with a structured plan to kickstart their healthy eating journey. Leveraging Existing Content One of Tammy's key strategies has been repurposing existing content to create digital products. This approach not only saves time but also ensures that the products are relevant and valuable to her audience. For example: Repurposing Blog Posts: Tammy turned her most popular blog posts into comprehensive ebooks, adding additional content and resources to enhance their value.   Creating Mini Products: She used the Meal Pro app to offer mini products, such as meal prep lessons, which were derived from her existing content. Building and Nurturing an Email List Tammy emphasizes the importance of having a robust email list to sustain long-term success in selling digital products. She shares her strategies for building and nurturing her email list: Lead Magnets: Tammy offeres free resources, such as meal planning templates and healthy eating guides, to attract new subscribers.   Regular Communication: She maintains regular communication with her email list, providing valuable content and updates about new products and offers.   Segmenting the Audience: Tammy segments her email list based on subscribers' interests and behaviors, allowing her to send targeted and relevant content. Creating a Strong Sales Funnel A well-designed sales funnel is crucial for converting leads into customers. Tammy shares her approach to creating an effective sales funnel: Front-End Offers: She uses her ten-day healthy eating challenge kit as a front-end offer to attract new customers and introduce them to her products. Upselling and Cross-Selling: Tammy offers additional products and services, such as yearly memberships and workshops, to existing customers. Retargeting with Facebook Ads: She successfully uses Facebook ads to retarget website visitors and email subscribers, driving them back to her sales funnel. Adapting to Changes and Challenges Tammy's journey has not been without challenges. She shares her experience of being hit by a Google algorithm update in November 2019, which significantly impacted her traffic and revenue. Despite this setback, she pivoted her business and found new ways to engage her audience: Hosting Challenges in Facebook Groups: Tammy hosts challenges in her Facebook group, which helps her maintain engagement and drive sales.   Diversifying Traffic Sources: She diversifies her traffic sources by leveraging social media, email marketing, and paid advertising. Expert Tips for Selling Digital Products Based on Tammy's experiences and insights, here are some expert tips for successfully selling digital products: Understand Your Audience To create products that resonate with your audience, it's essential to understand their needs, preferences, and pain points. Conduct surveys, engage with your audience on social media, and analyze your website analytics to gather insights. Start Small and Scale Up Begin with small, manageable products, such as ebooks or mini-courses, and gradually scale up to more comprehensive offerings. This approach allows you to test the market and refine your products based on feedback. Focus on Quality and Value Ensure that your digital products are high-quality and provide real value to your audience. Invest time in creating well-designed, informative, and actionable content that addresses your audience's needs. Build a Strong Brand A strong brand can help you stand out in a crowded market. Develop a consistent brand identity, including your logo, color scheme, and messaging, and ensure that it reflects your values and resonates with your audience. Utilize Multiple Marketing Channels Diversify your marketing efforts by utilizing multiple channels, such as social media, email marketing, and paid advertising. This approach can help you reach a broader audience and drive more traffic to your sales funnel. Continuously Optimize Your Sales Funnel Regularly review and optimize your sales funnel to improve conversion rates. Test different offers, landing pages, and email sequences to identify what works best for your audience. Stay Adaptable and Resilient The online business landscape is constantly evolving, and it's essential to stay adaptable and resilient. In today's episode of The Blogger Genius Podcast, I'm tackling blogger burnout. I share my key insights from talking to many of you about your experience with burnout and share my advice on how to rejuvenate both your passion and profitability. The Hamster Wheel of Content Creation Many bloggers find themselves trapped in a relentless cycle of content creation, SEO optimization, keyword research, and posting on social media. This constant push for pageviews, traffic and engagement can lead to a sense of disconnection from your audience and a lack of personal fulfillment. The need to constantly optimize for search engines can overshadow the original purpose of blogging, and the pressure to produce frequent, high-quality content can be overwhelming. Show Notes: MiloTreeLeads Beta MiloTreeCart Book a FREE 20-minute call with me MiloTree Pop-Up App Personality Quiz: What Digital Product Should I Create? Join My Blogger Genius Email List Become a Blogger Genius Facebook Group All Blogger Genius Podcast Episodes Subscribe to the Blogger Genius Podcast: iTunes YouTube Spotify Rediscovering Your "Why" This is why it's important to remember why you started blogging in the first place. Most bloggers begin with a desire to connect, share, and solve real problems for real people. Taking time to revisit your initial goals and passions can help you reconnect with your audience. Engage with your readers through comments, emails, and social media to understand their needs and interests. Shift your focus from pageviews to providing genuine value and solutions to your audience. Diversifying Income Streams While ad revenue and affiliate income can be lucrative, they are often subject to fluctuations in traffic and market changes. Diversifying your income streams can provide more stability and fulfillment. Introducing Digital Products and Services Many bloggers I talk to find a renewed excitement and purpose when they introduce selling digital products and services. This approach not only diversifies their income but also fosters deeper connections with their audiences. Digital products and services can provide a more consistent income stream, and creating products that solve specific problems for your audience can be highly rewarding. Plus, selling products and services allows for more personal interactions and relationship-building with your audience. Case Study: Nell Foster's Successful Pivot Nell Foster, a gardening blogger, experienced a significant drop in traffic but successfully pivoted by updating and selling her ebook and now is offering live workshops. She engaged with her audience and found new ways to monetize her expertise. Be open to pivoting your business model in response to changing circumstances, and regularly interact with your audience to understand their needs and preferences. Overcoming Self-Doubt and Embracing Growth Transitioning to selling products and services can be uncomfortable and may trigger feelings of self-doubt or imposter syndrome. So I recommend you begin with a simple product or service to test the waters and build confidence. Ask for feedback from trusted peers or early customers to improve and validate your offerings. View the process as an opportunity for personal and professional growth. The Power of Human Connection and Community There is something really important today about human connection and community. Starting a paid membership can be a smart move for bloggers as a way to make a steady income stream, and build a community around you and your brand. Plus, creating products that matter to you and your audience can lead to greater creative satisfaction. Transitioning to a Customer-Centric Business As things keep changing and AI becomes more prevalent, my recommendation is to transition from solely focusing on SEO to creating a vibrant, customer-centric business. This shift can lead to you rediscovering joy in your online business journey. Conduct surveys or interviews to identify the specific problems your audience faces, and develop digital products and services that address these pain points. Use email marketing, social media, and other channels to promote your offerings and connect with your audience. Embrace the Journey Diversifying your income streams by selling digital products and services can help overcome blogger burnout and lead to a more fulfilling and profitable blogging journey. By focusing on providing value, building connections, and embracing growth, you can create a sustainable and rewarding business. Remember why you started blogging and let that passion guide your decisions. Embrace new opportunities and be willing to pivot when necessary. Prioritize your audience's needs and build genuine connections. By following these insights and actionable advice, you can transform your online business and rediscover the joy and fulfillment that comes from serving your audience in a deeper way. That could be growing an audience with MiloTreeLeads our new product, where you can effortlessly grow your list by offering unlimited freebies and lead magnets, or MiloTreeCart, where you can sell digital products and services, focusing on what you love, creating and connecting without getting bogged down by complicated tech. Today I'm sharing a special episode that I recorded based on my conversations with you. I get on calls with bloggers and almost daily. I see where so many of you struggle. In this episode, I'm sharing the five things I recommend you start putting into place now so that you can thrive in the ever-changing landscape of blogging and online business. The Importance of Adaptation in Business The business model for online entrepreneurship has undergone a significant transformation over the last six month. It's no longer just about putting content out there with the right keywords and hoping for the best when it comes to Google. Biggest takeaway of the episode: Today, it's about growing an engaged audience and effectively selling to them. Show Notes: MiloTreeCart Book a FREE 20-minute call with me Catch My Party MiloTree Pop-Up App Personality Quiz: What Digital Product Should I Create? Join My Blogger Genius Email List Become a Blogger Genius Facebook Group All Blogger Genius Podcast Episodes Subscribe to the Blogger Genius Podcast: iTunes YouTube Spotify Five Key Tips for Online Business Success With the headwinds bloggers are facing, such as the rise of AI, updates to Google's algorithm, and a decline in revenue from traditional sources like display ads and affiliate marketing things can feel daunting. But with the right approach, they can be overcome. So here are the five things I recommend you start putting into place to find financial success as a blogger and online entrepreneur. Define Your Niche The first step to success is defining your niche. It's essential to narrow down your focus to communicate clearly the problem you solve. This specificity helps attract the right audience who are looking for exactly what you have to offer. Remember, when you try to appeal to everyone, you often connect with no one. Develop a Strong Personal Brand Your personal brand, or as I like to call it, your "vibe," is what sets you apart in a crowded market. It's about showing up as a human, connecting with your audience on a personal level, and expressing what makes you unique within your niche. Your authenticity is your greatest asset. Diversify Your Traffic Sources Relying solely on Google for traffic is a risky strategy. Diversifying your traffic sources can protect you against algorithm changes and other uncertainties. Platforms like Pinterest and Instagram are not just for sharing content; they're powerful tools for driving traffic and building your personal brand. Prioritize Your Email List Your email list is a goldmine. It's the key to developing deep relationships with your true fans and driving sales. Unlike social media followers, you own your email list, and it allows you to communicate directly with your audience without the interference of algorithms. Choose Easy Tech Tools In the world of online business, technology can be both a blessing and a curse. While there are countless tools out there promising to make your life easier, it's important to choose simple and effective solutions. Avoid expensive and complicated platforms that can lead to frustration and wasted resources. Updates on MiloTree and MiloTreeCart and MiloTreeFreebies I'm thrilled to share some updates on MiloTree and MiloTree Cart. We're transitioning MiloTree Cart to a more traditional subscription model, which will provide even more value to our users. Additionally, we're introducing MiloTreeFreebies, a new product designed to help creators like you grow your email lists efficiently. The Journey of Online Business I want to remind you that online business is a journey, complete with its ups and downs. It's a path of continuous learning and adaptation. I'm here to support you every step of the way, and I invite you to reach out with your feedback and questions. Together, we can navigate the ever-changing digital landscape and achieve our entrepreneurial goals. Thank you for joining me on this adventure. Remember, the key to success is staying informed, being adaptable, and always striving to connect with your audience on a deeper level. Let's keep the conversation going and build our online empires with confidence and creativity. Lily Ray, a seasoned SEO strategist, sheds light on what Google is seeking and how to adapt to these changes. We discuss the importance of expanding your digital footprint, embracing platforms like YouTube, and creating content that resonates with your audience and Google's algorithms. Deciphering Google's Current Mindset Google's recent updates, particularly the Helpful Content Update. (HCU), have targeted specific types of content, emphasizing expertise, authority, and trust. Lily emphasizes the importance of understanding that these cycles of updates are not new and that recovery from such hits can take time. She encourages publishers to look beyond SEO and consider building a brand that engages with audiences across various platforms. The Plight of Niche Bloggers The impact of Google's updates on niche bloggers can be devastating, as seen with a Trader Joe's enthusiast who lost significant traffic overnight. Lily advises affected bloggers to diversify their content and presence, such as starting a YouTube channel, lean into food blogging, or exploring other social media platforms like Pinterest for traffic. This approach can help break free from the patterns that led to being grouped with negatively impacted sites. Embracing AI in Content Creation The rise of AI in content creation presents both opportunities and challenges. Lily cautions against mass auto-generating content, which goes against Google's guidelines. Today I delve into the world of Pinterest marketing. I'm Jillian Leslie, the host of The Blogger Genius Podcast and co-founder of MiloTreeCart, and today I'm excited to share the insights from my recent conversation with Kayla Watkins, a Pinterest marketing expert who specializes in helping bloggers amplify their organic traffic and monetize their content. Madison emphasizes that by niching down, food bloggers can establish themselves as experts and cultivate a dedicated audience. Personal branding goes hand in hand with this, as it's crucial to connect with your audience on a personal level. By showcasing your human side and creating relatable content, you forge a stronger bond with your readers. Adapting to Industry Changes and Optimizing for E-E-A-T We delve into the concerns that come with shifts in ad networks, Google algorithms, and the advent of AI technology. Madison's advice? Focus on building personal connections and optimize your website for E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness). This not only helps in establishing credibility but also in gaining the trust of your audience. The Art of Crafting an Engaging About Page Your "About page" is more than just a biography; it's a strategic tool to convey authority and trustworthiness. Madison highlights the importance of including a personal photo and linking to a well-crafted about page. This balance showcases your expertise while also addressing your audience's needs and interests. Monetization Strategies: Beyond Traditional Ads The conversation also covers monetization strategies for food bloggers. We discuss the potential of diversifying income streams through digital products like paid meal plans, newsletters, and ebooks. The goal is to provide specific and valuable content that solves your audience's problems, thereby building a community of loyal supporters. Essential Tools for Food Bloggers Madison shares her favorite tools, which include Ahrefs for SEO and keyword research, Airtable for project management, and the Kadence framework for website customization. I also chimed in with the mention of ChatGPT and Canva as indispensable tools for bloggers. Building a Community and Offering Value Our discussion highlightsthe shift from relying solely on ad revenue to creating valuable digital products and nurturing a strong community. The key is to connect with your audience, address their problems, and build trust through personalized and niche-specific content. Remember, food blogging is now more than just recipes—it's about the stories, the expertise, and the connections we make. In fact, even popular niches, like food blogging, have taken big hits and lost tons of traffic. But bottom line, there's a silver lining!  I've been working with bloggers to pivot towards selling digital products, like digital downloads, workshops, memberships, online courses, coaching, etc., offering free 20-minute strategy calls to brainstorm and navigate this new income avenue. It's all about adapting and diversifying our monetization methods and traffic sources. SEO Expertise with SEO, Steve Weidman To give us a deeper understanding, I brought in SEO guru Steve Wiideman. Steve's expertise shed light on the necessity for bloggers to stay agile with Google's changing search algorithms and user behaviors. He stressed the importance of unique and helpful content, even in the age of AI-generated material. Beyond Traditional Web Search Steve urges us to look beyond the confines of traditional web search. Platforms like Google Discover, TikTok, and short-form media content are becoming increasingly important. It's about broadening our digital marketing horizons and embracing the platforms where our audiences spend their time. The Art of Keyword Research We also discuss the evolving role of keyword research in driving traffic and building brand awareness. Understanding user intent is crucial for creating content that truly resonates and provides value. For those hit by a drop in Google traffic, Steve recommended analyzing top-performing pages, studying competitors, and optimizing content for a variety of platforms and search engines. For new bloggers and experienced bloggers, it's no longer all about Google. Personalization and Marketing Channels The commoditization of content means we need to get personal. So even if you're in one of the most profitable blogging niches, like home improvement, personal development, fashion, mental health,  real estate, or travel etc. this is no longer enough to make a lot of money. It's a good idea to start using "I" and "me," and sharing your personal experiences to make our content more relatable. It will show your expertise and how well you know your specific niche. Steve also highlighted the need to stay on top of industry trends and utilize different marketing channels to remain competitive. Maximizing Marketing Vehicles In the latter part of our conversation, Steve emphasizes setting goals for increasing the utilization of various marketing vehicles. He suggests seeking expertise in platforms like LinkedIn and using AI to boost visibility and authority. The Rise of Generative AI Generative AI is revolutionizing how we interact and communicate. It's moving from providing solutions to taking actions, such as scheduling and content creation. This evolution opens up exciting opportunities for businesses in customer service, marketing data analysis, and content generation. Strategic Content Marketing for Niche Bloggers Steve encourages a strategic approach to content marketing. This includes reviving underperforming content through SEO reviews, UX assessments, and leveraging brand expertise. He also shared tips on using platforms like Reddit, Quora, and Medium effectively, focusing on providing value rather than self-promotion. A Granular Strategy for Success Finally, Steve advocates for a granular strategy. Start with one piece of content, measure the impact of each change, and continuously evolve. It's about being strategic, leveraging AI, and implementing a measured approach to content marketing and platform utilization. Embracing Creativity and Change To sum up, our digital marketing landscape is ever-evolving, and success lies in our ability to be creative, adapt to changes, and diversify our strategies. I hope these insights from the Blogger Genius podcast inspire you to explore new avenues like selling your own digital products and thrive in the digital space. Stay tuned for more episodes, and remember, I'm here to help you strategize your digital product journey. Let's embrace the change together! Today I want to talk about how to look up from your own blog with fresh eyes to see the changing landscape and new trends. And then I want to share the best ways to pivot I recommend you start implementing now to grow your blog income. The Changing World of Blogging Is Blogging Dead? The first question I get asked is “Is blogging dead?” And I'm going to say no, it's not dead but the blogging world is changing. Drop in Google Traffic As you know I talk to professional bloggers all the time, in all different niches, and recently I talked to four who all lost between 70-90% of their site traffic during these March Google updates.  Now we all know that when Google pushes out updates we shouldn't change anything for about a month to see where the dust settles, but I don't think any of these bloggers have seen such big swings before. So to be honest they were all a bit shell-shocked.  Show Notes: MiloTreeCart Book a FREE 20-minute strategy call with me MiloTreeCart Affiliate Program Catch My Party Anca from The Butter Table MiloTree Pop-Up App Join My Blogger Genius Email List Become a Blogger Genius Facebook GroupAll Blogger Genius Podcast Episodes Subscribe to the Blogger Genius Podcast: iTunes YouTube Spotify Google's Influence and SEO Shifts in Search Results So the first trend I expect to see is a decrease in overall traffic from Google for publishers or bloggers who are creating valuable content using best practices. Will we all be losing 70-90% of our traffic, my gut says no. In my experience, when Google makes changes they typically don't reverse course. For example, when we launched Catch My Party, a lot of our users were Etsy sellers so we used their API and imported their products to our site, each product got a separate page. We did this for ease. We weren't monetizing it. Google wasn't seeing these pages as duplicate content so if people were searching for these products they could end up on our site. We were making really good affiliate income, the Etsy sellers were happy because of all the exposure they were getting, it was growing our traffic, and then one day it all went away. Google de-indexed those pages and that traffic and income were gone. My point is that Google changes usually move in one direction. And what is Google facing right now? Existential threats. Remember, all they care about is people coming to Google in need information and end up finding it and having a good experience. Recently though, the overall feel is the search experience has been deteriorating so Google has been making changes. Showing more results from Reddit and Quora. This is because they want answers from “real people.” Google has found that sites have been gaming SEO to make money with affiliate marketing, for example, and Google has been cracking down.  The Introduction of AI in Search Plus how is google going to implement AI in search. They are calling this the Google Search Generative Experience or SGE. Google is working on what this is going to look like, but one thing Google has said is their SGE will quickly provide users with the answers they need and not necessarily direct users to other sites or content.  If their AI, Gemini, can give you better results on their GSE page than sending you off to a site they don't control, you better believe they will do that. In fact, I think it's already happening in the travel space. Plus for successful bloggers monetizing with display ads, as 3rd party cookies get phased out,  advertisers not being able to track visitors, there will probably be downward pressure on ad revenue. Adapting to New Realities I was on a call with a food blogger this past week and I started painting this new picture for her and she couldn't believe what I was saying. She's an old school blogger. She doesn't really use AI in her and feels like her readers could definitely tell the difference.  When I told her it's all about her prompts and she could prompt her AI to sound like her, she got really upset. I told her she should start getting serious about learning how to use ChatGPT, she was shocked. When I told her that some people will be using AI for recipes and not going to blogs she didn't believe me. She said, “Who's going to get their recipe from a machine?” That's not high-quality content. Then over the next two days I heard of two people who get their recipes from ChatGPT and think it's so easy. Do I believe everyone will be getting their recipes from AI, no. But it will become more common. I don't mean to be painting a bleak picture for bloggers and they should not abandon creating great blog content. I just mean to point out that change is a foot and the more willing you are to embrace it, the more success you'll have. What this really means is opening the aperture of how we see our business, our target audience, and our opportunities to serve them. I wouldn't be surprised if the goal of cranking out blog posts, and getting them to rank in Google so you can make a full-time income from ad networks MediaVine or Raptive will shrink in the long run.  So I have 3 recommendations: 1. Diversify Your Traffic Sources Start investing in Pinterest again if you had given up on it in the past. It might take a couple of months to see ROI on it, but Pinterest static pins still drive traffic. I've heard of people going back to Facebook and using it to drive page views. I think this is especially true and platforms like Facebook are deprioritizing news. If you can build engagement with what you post on Facebook, you can drive traffic. I've even heard that people are starting to see traffic coming from other search engines like Bing. Bing is growing in search. So Google should not be your only play. And another place to invest in is growing your email list. Besides your blog, your email list is one of your most valuable assets. Because you own your email list. And all these people have said yes, to you showing up in their inbox. Think of that as them inviting you into their living room, so use it wisely. Give them value and let them get to know you. Focus in Email Marketing And remember, email marketing is the best and easiest way to sell. This also includes showing up on social media. Even if these platforms don't drive a lot of traffic, right now, it's about getting know. For you. Which leads to my next recommendation.  2.) Start Building Relationships With Your Audience Don't think of them as nameless, faceless, “traffic.” These are real people. Like you are a real person. And this is where your competitive advantage moving forward comes into play. With AI, even great content is becoming a commodity. I can get a recipe or DIY from AI now. But YOU are not a commodity. You are a problem solver.  Start Focusing on Your Brand I did a solo episode on how you are now not just a content provider. You are an expert, selling your “vibe.” A few of the bloggers I spoke to this past week, didn't like this idea because they're used to hiding behind their blogs. But I'm going to say, this is the new reality. Get used to putting yourself out there, so people can get to know you. This is why you want to figure out your personal brand based on your expertise and vibe and start sharing it. And finally, my last recommendation: 3. Sell Solutions to Problems This is all about finding new income streams. We're moving from an information economy (with AI, information is becoming a commodity) to a people-focused economy. Of course selling digital products is probably the easiest way to get started. If you want to talk to me about how to do it go to milotree.com and book a free 20-minute Zoo call with me. I'll help you readjust your thinking as a blogger. I feel like this is what I do a lot of. And yes, starting with an ebook or guide or other types of digital downloads is a great place to start because they're easy to create and they provide passive income. But what we see in our data at MiloTreeCart is the people making the most money are selling memberships, coaching, live 1-hour workshops. And notice something about each one of those products. It's you showing up live with other people. Sure, if you want to create online courses go for it, but we're seeing mixed success with that. I feel like people are a little coursed out. Book a Call with Me to Talk About Digital Products And at MiloTreeCart, we have all the resources and step-by-step guides to launch these products with ease and without burnout. Just talk to me about it. There are opportunities out there. You just have to look for them. This is your time to connect with other bloggers in your niche, join Facebook groups, watch what bloggers in other niches are doing.  In addition to selling digital products, you could also look into selling physical products like if you're a crafter selling products on Etsy. And another thing you can sell are affiliate products. If you don't want to start creating your own products and services, find affiliate products you can promote that will make you serious money. I'm not talking Amazon affiliate links.  But I recommend you find affiliate products that pay a lot of money. I'm talking about software products that have generous affiliate programs, so think about the tools you use and maybe you could be promoting them to other bloggers. In fact, we sell military card, as you may know, for a lifetime deal of $349 and we pay our affiliates $100 per sale. For example. We sell MiloTreeCart for $349 right now, lifetime deal. And we pay our affiliates $100 a sale.  April MiloTreeCart Affiliate Challenge And I'm even running a challenge in the month of April awarding an additional $250 bonus and a free hour-long coaching call for people who make 8 sales. You make 8 sales during the month you get over $1,350 in value. Here's how to join our MiloTreeCart affiliate program.  Look for Other Income Opportunities And there are other opportunities out there. For example, I had my friend Anca from The Butter Table on the show. She's the food blogger who, like many new bloggers, didn't want to grow her blog the traditional way and wait two years to get any traction, so she figured out how to create user generated content for brands, how to pitch to them, and she's making a killing. She's thinking outside the box. And btw, she's teaching people how to do this. And if you say, I don't have any marketable skills, I”m going to say, go learn a new skill that you can monetize. And if you know how to do anything with AI, you can sell that as a skill. Maybe you can teach other bloggers how to use AI to write blog posts or emails. How Blogging Is Changing and What to Do Now Yes, the world of blogging is changing. What's worked so far, might not work as well in the future. Lean into your brand and your vibe. Your blog is not your brand. You are. Diversify your traffic sources and show up on social media even if it doesn't drive traffic because you want people to know you and you get to know people. It's no longer about traffic, it's about people. Invest in growing your mailing list. Sending emails is the easy way to create your superfans who trust you and will buy from you. Diversify your revenue streams and start selling solutions. You don't need millions of people. You just need a loyal audience who is interested in your blog niche. Find problems you can solve and charge for the solutions. It's a good idea to teach yourself new marketable skills that you can monetize. Find the opportunities (like great affiliate programs like MiloTreeCart) because there will be many new ways people will be making good money on the internet. And this is all good news. And show up as an empathetic human people can relate to. If you have any questions, reach out to me. I love hearing from you. If you're having a rough time, reach out to me. If you want to start selling digital products, definitely reach out to me and we'll get on a free call. Now look, no one knows what the future holds if they say they do, do not trust them.  But I'm actually really bullish about the future of online business because it might not be about our blogs at a certain point. I'm not sure in the future people are going to be going to static web pages for information. But if you can show up as a real person with real solutions and willing to put in the hard work, you will win. I hope you found this episode helpful. And just so you know, there are many nights when I'm lying there wide awake thinking about all of this stuff. So maybe I recorded this episode as much for me as I did for you. If you're liking this show, please subscribe. Please leave a review on iTunes. I would so greatly appreciate it and I will see you here again next week. Today I'm thrilled to share with you some invaluable insights from my recent conversation with Cassie Noyes, a leading expert in email solutions at the ad network, Raptive (previously AdThrive). But before we dive into the heart of email marketing, let me extend an invitation to you. If you're looking to explore a new income stream through selling digital products without the tech hassle, I'm here to help. Join me for a free 20-minute strategy call, and let's unlock your digital product potential together. Head over to milotree.com to book your free slot! The Critical Role of Email in Today's Blogging Landscape In this episode, we're taking a detour from the usual topics like SEO and site optimization to focus on something that's becoming increasingly crucial for bloggers – email marketing. Cassie Noyes, who spearheads the email solutions team at Raptive, joins me to unravel why email is not just a tool but a vital asset in building a loyal audience and boosting ad revenue. Show Notes: MiloTreeCart Book a FREE 20-minute strategy call with me Raptive MiloTree Pop-Up App Join My Blogger Genius Email List Become a Blogger Genius Facebook Group All Blogger Genius Podcast Episodes Subscribe to the Blogger Genius Podcast: iTunes YouTube Spotify The Journey to Email Expertise Cassie's journey into the world of email marketing began in the realm of traditional print magazine publishing, where she honed her skills in audience development. At Raptive, she now dedicates her expertise to helping creators grow their subscriber lists and engage their audience effectively, ensuring higher open and click rates, and ultimately, driving more views and engagement to their sites. Why Email Matters More Than Ever With the impending demise of cookies and the evolution of AI in search, owning your audience has never been more important. Cassie explains that while SEO remains a key driver of traffic, having a direct relationship with your audience through email can make you a go-to brand, encouraging direct site visits over incidental search engine discoveries. The Identity Factor in Email Marketing The shift away from cookies means advertisers are on the lookout for more reliable ways to identify and target audiences. Here's where your email list comes into play. Each time a subscriber visits your site, their identity can be captured, allowing advertisers to pay more for those visits. This direct identification translates into higher ad revenue for you as a publisher. Best Practices for Engaging Your Audience Cassie shares that the content of your emails should be actionable and immediately useful to your audience. Think recipes or tips that they can apply right away. A welcome series can be a powerful tool to introduce new subscribers to the breadth of your content. Monetizing Through Email Incorporating affiliate links or product recommendations in your emails can be a subtle yet effective way to monetize. The key is to ensure these inclusions add value to your subscribers' experience rather than feeling intrusive. The Art of the Newsletter Consistency is king when it comes to newsletters. Cassie recommends a regular cadence, ideally more than once a week, to keep your audience engaged. Keep your emails concise, visually appealing, and easy to navigate, with buttons for links and a moderate use of photos and emojis to draw the eye. Crafting Compelling Subject Lines Your subject line is your first impression. It should evoke emotion and curiosity while hinting at the content inside. A/B testing is your friend here, helping you discover what resonates best with your audience and improving open rates. Maintaining a Healthy Email List Periodically cleaning your email list is essential for maintaining its health. Re-engagement campaigns can help identify inactive subscribers, and if they remain unresponsive, it may be time to let them go. Embracing AI in Email Marketing Cassie sees AI as a promising tool for content creation and brainstorming, offering efficiency and a boost to creativity. However, it's important to balance AI use with a personal touch to ensure your emails remain authentic and engaging. Final Thoughts Email marketing is not just a strategy; it's a relationship-building journey with your audience. By leveraging the insights shared by Cassie Noyes, you can transform your email list into a thriving community and a profitable aspect of your business. Remember, the power of email lies in the personal connection you forge with each subscriber, turning them from casual readers into loyal fans and customers. west episode, I had the pleasure of interviewing Anca Toderic, the food blogger behind The Butter Table, who has turned her passion for cooking into a thriving business by creating user-generated content (short-form video) for brands. Her journey is not only inspiring but also filled with practical advice for anyone looking to monetize their video content. Let's dive into the lessons learned from Anca's experience. Show Notes: MiloTreeCart Book a FREE 20-minute strategy call with me The Butter Table Book a UGC coaching session with Anca MiloTree Pop-Up App Join My Blogger Genius Email List Become a Blogger Genius Facebook Group All Blogger Genius Podcast Episodes Subscribe to the Blogger Genius Podcast: iTunes YouTube Spotify The Pivot: From Struggle to Strategy Anca's story begins with a venture that many can relate to—a business that didn't take off as hoped. She and her sister-in-law poured their hearts into a meal plan business for seven years, only to make the tough call to shut it down. This setback, compounded by the surprise of a new baby, could have been the end of her entrepreneurial journey. But with her sister's encouragement, Anca found a new path: TikTok. Despite initial reservations, TikTok became a source of fun for Anca as she shared her recipes and cooking tips. This platform was the stepping stone she needed to gain confidence and see the potential for monetization, which led her to start a blog and consider brand partnerships. Crafting the Pitch: The Art of Negotiation and Content Creation Anca's approach to pitching and negotiating with brands was all self-taught. She started by creating a portfolio that showcased her content and pitched her ideas to potential partners. Her first brand deal came as a surprise, considering her small following and the fact that her blog and Instagram weren't even launched yet. When it comes to setting rates, Anca did her homework. She began charging $650 for a 30-second video and later increased her rate to $1,000, offering package discounts for multiple videos. Her key to success? Discussing budgets and deliverables with brands to tailor her pricing to each project's needs. The Creative Process: Authenticity Meets Professionalism In creating content for brands, Anca focuses on authenticity. She often showcases products in a natural setting, whether it's through recipe development or cooking demonstrations. Her tools of the trade are simple yet effective—smartphone apps for filming and editing, natural lighting, and minimal equipment. This approach resonates with brands looking for user-generated content that feels genuine and relatable. Growing the Blog and Instagram: The Power of Collaboration Anca's growth as a blogger and influencer has been significantly boosted by her work with brands. With about 20-30% of her collaborations coming through PR agencies and the rest from in-house contacts, she has seen the benefits of backlinks from real companies and the exposure that comes from being tagged and featured on Instagram. Embracing the Learning Curve: Just Start One of the most empowering takeaways from my conversation with Anca is her attitude towards learning. She advocates for jumping into opportunities and learning along the way, rather than waiting to become an expert first. This mindset has allowed her to focus on making money from her passion and to avoid getting bogged down in the minutiae of branding and marketing. Looking Ahead: Teaching and Sharing Knowledge Anca's down-to-earth approach and relatable vibe have not only made her a success in her own right but also position her as a potential mentor for others. She's open to sharing her experiences and helping others navigate the world of content creation and brand collaborations. Connect with Anca For those interested in reaching out to Anca or working with her, she's accessible via direct message on Instagram at The Butter Table or through email at anca@thebuttertable.com. She offers one-on-one coaching sessions, and for my listeners, she's providing a special discount—$100 for the first five people who sign up at ugccoaching.milotreecart.com. My Offer to You: Let's Talk Digital Products As I wrap up this post, I want to extend an offer to you, my readers. I invite you to book a free call with me at milotree.com, where we can discuss how to start selling your knowledge directly to your audience. Anca's story is a testament to the power of resilience, creativity, and strategic partnerships. By sharing her journey, she not only provides a roadmap for others but also inspires us to pursue our passions and find success in unexpected ways. Join My Blogger Genius Email List Become a Blogger Genius Facebook Group All Blogger Genius Podcast Episodes Subscribe to the Blogger Genius Podcast: iTunes YouTube Spotify Building Authentic Connections on Social Media One of the key takeaways from our conversation is the importance of building real connections and relationships on social media. Lauren points out that social media success isn't just about going viral; it's about fostering a community and creating authentic connections with your followers. She emphasizes the marketing principles of repetition and the balance of giving versus taking, highlighting the need for consistent content and the importance of providing value to your audience. A Success Story: The Power of a Dedicated Audience Lauren shares an inspiring success story of a client who, instead of aiming for a vast audience, focused on a smaller group of engaged followers. This targeted approach led to a successful product launch, underscoring the power of relationship-building and engagement with a dedicated audience. Managing Social Media Stress We also touch on the potential stress and mental health impact of social media. It's common to feel overwhelmed, but Lauren reassures us that it's possible to approach social media in a manageable way. She advised starting with small, consistent efforts rather than succumbing to the pressure of doing too much at once. The Art of Engagement: Quality Over Quantity Lauren and I explore the nuances of engagement on social media, noting that it varies based on individual goals and content. She stresses that engagement is crucial, regardless of how often you post. For some, daily posting is necessary, while for others, like mom bloggers, one post a week with daily follower interaction can be enough. Three-Phase Engagement Strategy Here is Lauren's social media strategy: Review your profile to ensure it resonates with your ideal audience. Respond to comments and new followers to foster a sense of community. Reach out to ideal followers to build authentic connections. She encouraged responding to those who regularly engage with your content, even if it's just to express gratitude for their support. Embracing the Personal Touch We discussed the personal nature of engagement, with Lauren urging me to connect with those who consistently interact with my content. Authenticity is key, and making genuine connections can be as simple as acknowledging someone you regularly see on the street. The Human Connection in a Digital Age Lauren highlights the irreplaceable value of the human connection and personal touch in an age where AI and automation are on the rise. Creating a warm and welcoming environment for followers is essential. From my own experience, I've seen the shift towards meaningful connections with followers. Authenticity and transparency in messaging are crucial for providing genuine and valuable content to your audience. The Significance of Real Connections As our conversation wraps up, both Lauren and I emphasize the importance of building real connections and relationships on social media, rather than focusing solely on metrics and numbers. The impact of genuine engagement and the value of showing up authentically cannot be overstated when it comes to creating a loyal and supportive community. Exploring Social Media Platforms: Facebook's Resurgence and Instagram's New Features We also discuss the resurgence of Facebook and Instagram's new community feature as potential tools for building community. While Facebook remains a staple for live events and group conversations, Instagram's Threads feature and the new community option offer additional touch-points for engaging with followers. TikTok vs. Instagram Reels The differences between TikTok and Instagram Reels were also a topic of discussion. Lauren explains that TikTok caters to shorter attention spans and a younger audience, making it a valuable platform for those targeting users under 30. Conclusion Our insightful conversation sheds light on the evolving landscape of social media and its implications for online entrepreneurs and bloggers. The key is to focus on authentic engagement and leverage the platforms that best suit your audience and goals. Remember, it's not just about the numbers; it's about the relationships you build and the community you foster. So, let's continue to navigate this digit

He encourages focusing on business aspects without losing the creative spark. His advice is to leverage creative expertise to increase income, which is a golden nugget for any entrepreneur. Monetizing Creativity: The Path to Financial Success During our conversation, Chris outlined two primary routes for monetizing a creative business: brand partnerships and selling digital products or coaching. He stressed the importance of being an expert and qualified to offer these services. Chris's own experience of growing his photography business while building a YouTube channel on the side is a testament to this approach which lead to his business growth and diversification. The Art of Pitching: Connecting with Brands Pitching to brands is an art, and Chris shares his personalized email sequence strategy. Today I delve into the evolving landscape of content creation, blogging, and digital marketing and why your "vibe" has never been more important. Facing the competition from AI-generated content and the possible decline of ad revenue due to the phase-out of third-party cookies, I propose a strategic pivot for content creators toward selling "who you are," not just the information you put out. This is why I emphasize the importance of starting to sell digital products and services directly to audiences as a sustainable income source in 2024. I argue that in an AI-dominated landscape, the human touch becomes invaluable. I share my personal journey with Instagram Reels, describing how I us them to convey my vibe and connect with my audience. I leverage tools like ChatGPT to streamline content creation, demonstrating the synergy between human creativity and AI. I also discusses Kevin Kelly's "1000 True Fans" concept, encouraging creators to focus on building a small, loyal audience rather than chasing massive traffic. This approach, I argue, can lead to significant income when fans are offered valuable products. Emphasis on Human Connection and Email Marketing Emphasizing the importance of email marketing, I advise creators and bloggers to nurture their email lists, viewing them as a direct line to their audience's 'living room'. I advocate for authenticity in email communications, as it's an effective channel for selling and building relationships. Join My Blogger Genius Email List Become a Blogger Genius Facebook Group All Blogger Genius Podcast Episodes Subscribe to the Blogger Genius Podcast: iTunes Stitcher YouTube Spotify The Power of Creativity in Food Blogging Megan and I discussed the importance of creativity in the food blogging space. With challenges like AI and changes in search algorithms, food bloggers must think outside the box to monetize and drive traffic. From ebooks to cooking classes, the possibilities are endless. Megan's mastermind group is already buzzing with innovative ideas, proving that creativity is key to staying ahead. Leveraging Platforms Like Pinterest Despite the frustrations many have with Pinterest, it remains a valuable platform for food bloggers. The visual nature of food content makes Pinterest a potential goldmine for traffic. Consistency and a long-term strategy are crucial, and if you notice a particular type of content performing well, such as videos, it's time to double down on that approach. The Third-Party Cookie Conundrum The removal of third-party cookies by Chrome in 2024 is a hot topic. While it may change how advertisers interact with ad networks, it's important not to approach this shift with fear. Instead, be curious and informed. Ad networks like Raptive are exploring new technologies to maintain ad relevance and value, ensuring that the right ads reach the right audience while respecting privacy. Mindset Matters One of the most powerful takeaways from our conversation is the significance of mindset. Rather than succumbing to fear about the future, embrace curiosity and excitement for the opportunities that change brings. AI, for instance, isn't something to be feared but a tool to be harnessed for idea generation, writing enhancement, and keyword research. The Summit for Advanced Food Bloggers Megan and her colleague Melissa are organizing a summit specifically for advanced food bloggers, creating a space for collaboration and support. Using MiloTree Cart, they've set up an effortless payment and sales page system for the event, showcasing the ease with which digital products and services can be offered. Selective Learning and Growth As we navigate the food blogging community, it's essential to be selective about where we get our information and support. She emphasizes the importance of not having to spend excessive time and effort on researching and reading books, as she has already done that for her students. Delivering High-Value Results Faith encourages aspiring entrepreneurs to focus on delivering high-value results that people are willing to pay for. She advises individuals to analyze their chosen niche or industry and identify what people are already paying a lot of money for, and then strive to become exceptionally good at delivering those results. Natasha felt that as a blogger, she should have a digital product to sell. Despite her limited time, Natasha quickly created an ebook by compiling her blog recipes and styling it using Canva. She kept it simple, with sixteen recipes and notes, and priced it at $9. The Power of Niche and Community Natasha promoted her ebook to her Facebook group, which boasts over 22,000 members and is highly engaged due to its niche focus on gluten-free sourdough. She believes that the group's engagement has contributed to its rapid growth. They discussed the importance of finding a niche and how it has contributed to Natasha's success. She shared her initial hesitation about narrowing down her focus to gluten-free baking, but ultimately found that it simplified her life and allowed her to become an expert in a specific area. The Ebook Success Initially skeptical, Natasha was pleasantly surprised when people started buying the ebook. She also tried selling the ebook on her website, but most of the sales came from her Facebook group. Exploring Other Platforms Natasha reached out to Jillian for advice on other platforms to sell her ebook. She had heard about Gumroad but was concerned about the percentage they would take from her sales. After discovering that MiloTreeCart didn't take a cut from sales, Natasha became interested in our lifetime membership offer. Investing in Your Audience Jillian believes in the concept of karma on the internet, where putting out good content leads to receiving good things in return. She wants to help my audience grow their businesses because it brings her happiness and contributes to the growth of her own business. Natasha's Experience with MilotreeCart Natasha shares her positive experience with MilotreeCart. She appreciates the templates and resources they offer for free, which have helped her make back more than she initially invested. She believes that investing in MilotreeCart is a great opportunity for those with an existing audience. Launching Her First Workshop Natasha's experience hosting her first paid workshop was a significant milestone in her journey. After the success of her ebook, she decided to expand her offerings and create workshops to provide more value to her audience. She put in effort to plan and deliver a high-quality workshop, and the results were impressive. Hosting her one-hour live workshop, she made over $400. The "B-minus Work" Concept Natasha was initially skeptical and nervous about setting up and delivering the workshop. However, she found comfort in my concept of "B-minus work," where it's okay to not strive for perfection but still deliver above-average content. This mindset relieved the pressure of having a perfect setup and allowed Natasha to use her phone and computer to create her workshops. Future Opportunities Natasha expresses her desire to host another workshop due to its success in terms of sales and positive feedback. She contemplates starting a membership program, inspired by another guest on the podcast who offered a membership for $18. The Importance of Experimentation Jillian emphasized the importance of experimentation and seeking feedback from her audience. She praised Natasha for her inspiring work and expressed her excitement at her progress and future goals. The Unexpected Success Natasha shares her excitement about the growth of her blog and her ability to invest in essential tools and courses. She mentions the unexpected success of digital products and her dreams of making a full-time income from blogging. In conclusion, Natasha's journey is a testament to the power of digital products, niche communities, and the importance of investing in your audience. In this week's episode of The Blogger Genius Podcast, I'm interviewing Michelle Marks, a business coach who specializes in helping women run businesses from home. We talk about how easy it is to come up with a digital product idea and I challenge her to come up with one during the interview in real time. The Power of MiloTreeCart Before diving into the conversation with Michelle, I introduce share how selling digital products is a breeze with MiloTreeCart. This tool offers features like fill-in-the-blank sales pages, check out pages, upsells, and amazing support. Currently we have a limited-time offer where you can purchase MiloTreeCart for a lifetime deal of $349 or in three easy installments, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. As a bonus, I'm offering a one-hour free coaching call for those who purchase before the end of August. Michelle Marks: From Freelancer to Business Coach Michelle shares her entrepreneurial journey, which began with freelance gigs in writing and photography. She later started a graphic design business and, after having kids, found a passion for working with women who run businesses from home. She now specializes in helping them create and sell scalable digital products. Understanding Digital Products We discuss the definition of digital products, which Michelle describes as anything that can be sold as a file. We also touch on the blurred lines between coaching and digital products, with coaching being a service but also a form of digital product. We agree that memberships are considered digital products because they are infinitely scalable Creating Unique Digital Products Michelle explains that even if there are already many products out there, someone can bring their own style, perspective, and lessons learned to create a product that reaches people on a unique level. She suggests that a blogger should consider her target audience's goals, problems, and desires when deciding what kind of product to create. Selling Digital Products and Finding Initial Customers Michelle says that an ebook could be a great option for bloggers who excel in written content, as it provides a shortcut for readers to learn and take action. Understanding the Customer's Journey Michelle emphasizes the importance of understanding the next stage in a customer's journey. She uses the example of someone who wants to expand their plant collection but has doubts about their ability to keep the new plants thriving. To address this, she suggests creating a list of easy-to-care-for plants that the person can purchase. This way, they can continue to expand their plant collection with confidence. Exploring Other Possibilities We also explore other possibilities within the plant niche, such as selling the health benefits of being a plant owner or offering workshops on creating personalized pots. Michelle encourages thinking outside the box and brainstorming different ideas to cater to various personas within the target audience. Dealing with Products That May Not Sell Well Michelle acknowledges that dealing with products that may not sell well can be challenging and may trigger feelings of rejection. However, she advises reframing these experiences as learning opportunities. The Importance of Community and Mindset Michelle shares her belief that having a supportive community is vital for success, as it provides validation, help, and feedback. I agree, stating that building a business can be lonely without people who understand and support your goals. Connect with Michelle Marks Michelle invites listeners to connect with her on Instagram and join her Facebook group, "Growing Your Business with Digital Products." She describes the group as a place where digital product creators can find support, training, and resources from someone who has made mistakes and experienced both successful and unsuccessful product launches. 5 Tips to Get Out of Your Own Way and Sell with Joy

In today's episode, I delved into a topic that many people find uncomfortable - selling your own products and services. The Fear of Selling Firstly, let's address the elephant in the room - the fear and anxiety that often accompany the selling process. It's not uncommon to feel this way, but it's crucial to understand that selling is not a reflection of your self-worth. Instead, it's an opportunity to learn, grow, and provide value to others. Many people fear selling because they worry about being pushy or coming across as salesy. They may fear rejection or feel uncomfortable with the idea of promoting themselves or their products. These fears can hold them back from reaching their full potential and achieving their business goals. However, it's important to remember that selling is an essential part of running a successful business. Without sales, it's challenging to generate revenue and sustain your business in the long term. So, instead of letting fear hold you back, it's time to embrace the selling process and discover effective strategies that can make it easier and more rewarding. Five Strategies to Make Selling Easier In the podcast, I shared five strategies that can make selling less daunting and more effective. Believe in the Value of Your Product or Service: The first step to making selling easier is to truly believe in the value of what you're offering. Take the time to understand the unique benefits and solutions your product or service provides to your customers. When you genuinely believe in the value you offer, it becomes easier to communicate that value to others and overcome any doubts or fears you may have. Know Your Audience: Understanding your target audience is crucial for effective selling. Take the time to research and identify who your ideal customers are, what their needs and pain points are, and how your product or service can address those needs. By tailoring your sales approach to resonate with your audience, you can make your pitch more compelling and increase your chances of success. Practice and Refine Your Selling Skills: Selling is a skill that improves with practice. Don't be afraid to make mistakes and learn from them. Role-play sales scenarios, practice your pitch, and seek feedback from trusted friends or mentors. The more you practice, the more comfortable and confident you will become in your selling abilities. Frame Selling as a Way to Help Others: Shift your mindset and view selling as a way to solve problems and help others. Instead of focusing on making a sale, focus on understanding your customers' needs and how your product or service can genuinely benefit them. By approaching selling with a mindset of service and value, you can build trust and establish long-term relationships with your customers. Use Tools to Streamline the Process: Take advantage of tools and resources that can simplify the selling process. For example, MiloTree Cart provides a user-friendly platform that allows you to easily set up and manage your online store. With features like customizable product pages, secure payment processing, and automated order management, you can focus on selling without getting bogged down by technical complexities. Special Offer: Coaching Call with Me To further support you in your selling journey, I'm offering a special coaching call for those who purchase MiloTreeCart. This is a limited-time offer, so don't miss out on this opportunity to discuss your business and sales strategies with me personally. Conclusion: Embrace the Journey Selling can be uncomfortable, but it's a necessary part of running a successful business. Remember, it's not a reflection of your worth as a human, but an opportunity to learn, grow, and provide value to others. I encourage you to schedule a call with me to discuss your businesses and sales strategies. Let's embrace this journey together, and make selling a less daunting and more lucrative experience. Mastering Pinterest in 2023: Secrets from a Pinterest Expert (Rebroadcast)

Today, I'm thrilled to share some this podcast episode rebroadcast with my friend and Pinterest expert, Kate Ahl. We discussed the evolving landscape of Pinterest, its impact on bloggers and entrepreneurs, and how to leverage it effectively for your business. My Journey as a Blogger and Entrepreneur Before we dive into the details of our discussion, let me share a bit about my journey. My husband and I started Catch My Party in 2009, and later developed the MiloTree pop-up app. Recently, we launched MiloTree Cart, a platform designed to help bloggers sell digital products. We also have a digital product personality quiz on our website to guide people on where to start with digital products. Pinterest: A Changing Landscape In our conversation, Kate and I delved into the recent changes on Pinterest. The platform experienced a surge in users during the pandemic, but as the world started to open up again, there was a decline. To keep users engaged and attract e-commerce sellers, Pinterest introduced Idea Pins and the Verified Merchant Program. They also recognized that Pinterest is a great platform for informing future purchases. Pinterest vs. Instagram: A Unique Position Pinterest has carved out a unique position in the social media ecosystem. Unlike Instagram, which is more like a bar, Pinterest is more like a library. Pinterest aims to keep users on the platform longer to attract big brands for advertising. However, they also acknowledge that 97% of searches on Pinterest are unbranded. The Impact of Removing the Creator Fund We also discussed the removal of the Creator Fund, where Pinterest would pay creators for content, and its impact on creators today. Kate believes that this move is a net positive for creators in the long term. She explained that the program had frustrations for some creators, such as limited participation and the distraction of creating content for Pinterest instead of their own websites. Pinterest's Shift Towards Ecommerce Kate sees Pinterest shifting towards ecommerce and partnering with platforms like Shopify and WooCommerce, indicating a focus on smaller sellers. This shift towards retail and ecommerce raises questions about how it will affect bloggers, DIY bloggers, and party bloggers. However, Kate suggests that Pinterest is becoming more friendly towards both digital and physical products, allowing self-hosted sellers to upload their products and update listings easily. Building Your Own Online Presence Kate and I emphasized the importance of building your own online presence and not relying solely on social media platforms like Instagram. Your main content should be on your own website, with platforms like Pinterest used to bring people into your ecosystem. The Future of Social Media Platforms Looking ahead, I shared my thoughts on the future of social media platforms, as they are constantly changing. I advised creators to build their businesses on their own platforms and create products that they can sell and own the customer relationship. Conclusion Despite the various changes and struggles Pinterest has gone through, I am optimistic about its future. I see it as a slower-moving platform with potential for business growth. I encourage you to explore the possibilities of creating digital products to take control of your businesses. Remember, patience is key when it comes to seeing significant results from platforms like Pinterest. Show Notes: MiloTreeCart Personality Quiz: What Digital Product Should I Create? In this episode of The Blogger Genius Podcast, I welcome back social media expert, Lauren Litt, to discuss Threads, a social media platform connected to Instagram but operating as a separate app, and whether it's worth your time. Threads has been creating quite a buzz in the social media world. Lauren, who is bullish on its potential, believes that engagement is key to leveraging this platform. She encourages those who haven't yet explored Threads to do so, despite concerns about a drop in engagement. As she rightly points out, the platform is still in its infancy, and users are figuring out how to use it effectively. We explore the potential of Threads for creating meaningful connections and engagement as a business owner, blogger, content creator, or influencer. Lauren shares examples of how people are effectively using Threads, emphasizing the importance of providing value and building a community. We also discuss the concept of "push" versus "pull" marketing and how Threads shouldn't be used for the hard sell.
