102: How to Dream Bigger When You're a Natural Operator & Planner

The Ops Authority

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 23, 2021 24:09

Are you a natural visionary, or do you have difficulty dreaming big? Today we are talking about how to dream big when you aren't wired to be a big visionary thinker. Dreaming Big How do you dream big when you're wired to plan small? I want to dream bigger, but I'm wired to be a support system and a servant of other people and it often leads me to dream small. Maybe you are the same way, and you aren't comfortable with the big futuristic dreams. You're telling yourself that since you are an operator you can't dream big, but that's just a lie. You can dream big, it's just uncomfortable for people who are wired in this way.    I've had to work on this myself, so I wanted to share with you how I've broken out of this thinking.   Don't Buy the Lie Telling yourself that you can't dream big is just a lie; we can dream just like anyone else! We all grew up dreaming about what we could be. Just because we are operators doesn't mean that we have zero percent vision.   “Our mind wants to protect us into thinking small because it's very safe.”   I am a risk averse person. I love to be second in command because it protects me as I am executing on someone else's dream. But if we are going to be in business for ourselves we will have to lean into the same things that we are helping our visionaries with. We have to flip the script and dream bigger than we ever have before.   Finding the Time You need time to make this happen, and because we aren't wired this way immediately it will take us some time to settle in. The biggest struggle is that you can't really control when these big dreams are going to come. You are not going to be able to plan this out on your calendar… it just doesn't work that way. Know that it takes time.   Space For me, the best dreaming has come outside of the places I frequent. I need a new environment and a new space, which allows me not to be confined to the typical things that I usually think of. If I want to think new thoughts and expand where I am, I need to leave the four walls of my office.   Leverage your community I love hearing about other people's businesses. I'm not looking to copy them, but I love learning about all of the options that are out there. I am part of a mastermind, which is my safe space to run to when I have big ideas. They also call me out when I'm dreaming too small. Having that community who are able to call me out and guide me when I am thinking too small is so valuable. You need a small and mighty community to lean on.    Why is dreaming a big deal? The same thing day after day is just not going to be fulfilling long term. You also run the risk of being outpaced by your competitors. If you don't continue to push the needle you may fall out of love with what you are doing and building.    “I am certain that your big dream becomes your vision, and your vision becomes your plan.”   We all love plans. So if you don't have new plans that you are creating, you will get stagnant,  and boredom in business is not a good combination. It is a challenge for operators to have that big visionary thinking, but it doesn't mean you are incapable of dreaming big.    I love consistency and methodical action, but if I do it inside of my own business, I'm going to get tired of it. This will lead to monotony and will constrict where you are going long term. You have to think bigger to avoid burnout and boredom.    5 Tips to Thinking Bigger Give yourself 5 years.  Start your thoughts with “By 2026, I will…” This puts you in a safe, defined container, but you are still able to see outside of today.   Start With You Rather Than the Business.  It's much easier to think about what our personal life is going to look like in five years because it's time bound. Think about you before the business and if there are things you want to accomplish in your personal life.   What Needs to Happen? What does your business need to look like if you want to make those personal things happen? This applies specifically to a lifestyle business. What do you need to generate and what does the business need to look like?  Does your business model change?  What if it Worked? If everything went better than imagined? What success would you have? What would you accomplish? What would your business look like?    Don't go directly to planning.  Sit with this big vision for a few weeks or months. When you feel like you can finally voice this new vision, then you can start planning. When it starts to feel safe, put the plans in writing and they will become more powerful once you get to the point where you can speak them.   “Give yourself the space and grace to create the dream before you start breaking it down.” Weekly Ops Activity Come into our facebook group and let us know... if everything went according to plan, what is one success that you would have in the next 5 years of your business?   Episode Sponsor: As operators, one of our key roles is to keep the ship sailing for the businesses we support, and a core component of that is to document systems and processes. Our visionary CEOs that we support don't have the interest in doing this themselves, but they know it has to get done… which is where you come in.   There are lots of ways to document processes, but I want to share with you a powerful tool that I've used that I think you are going to love, called Sweet Process. It allows you to create systems and processes and then turn them into step-by-step instructions or a checklist. It also allows you to have a centralized place for anyone on your team to access your procedures and processes at any time.    The best way to know if Sweet Process works for you is to start using it! Dr. Margaret Klein Salamon: Our Planet's Fate Is Not Yet Sealed; But, It's Getting Pretty Close - R4R 206

The Running for Real Podcast

Some issues pervade all businesses, industries, and individuals. In 2020 alone we have seen a handful of them. The far-reaching effects of Covid-19 has changed everyday life for every individual around the world. Social injustices have affected millions of people directly or indirectly in the United States and elsewhere. Addressing these issues isn’t easy, but to initiate change and progress it’s important to do so. As a running community we care about this planet deeply. Collectively we get to see as much of this planet as any group. Running down alleys in the city, around parks, in local gyms, along beaches, and up mountains, our feet take us just about everywhere. We want to keep the world clean so we can breathe the air, enjoy the view, and share it with future generations. Today’s guest gave us more insight into climate control, an issue we have discussed before. Dr. Margaret Klein Salamon shared with us new perspectives on what it means to battle global warming and why it is so crucial to start now. This is a bipartisan issue that we should all be able to get behind because the planet is important to all of us, runners especially. The Biggest Threats of Rising Temperatures Dr. Klein Salamon explains two major reasons for concern that climate control is currently presenting. First is what is called feedback loops. A feedback loop in this sense is essentially a reaction from rising temperature that in turn creates more rising temperatures. Think fires. Increased temperatures mean more fires and more intense fires. These fires then add to carbon emissions that raise temperatures further. It’s a snowball effect, but in a much more damaging way. The second and larger issue is the threat on food production which Margaret says is a pending “collapse of civilization.” With rising temperatures there is likelihood for droughts across various countries around the world. Immediately this results in food shortages and mass exodus. We have already seen what can happen when millions of citizens try to leave their country in a short amount of time and the burden it places on individuals and countries. Many Syrian refugees are experiencing this first hand. What Needs to Happen? By now you have heard all about our “carbon footprint.” The amount of greenhouse gas emissions that we are responsible for does make a difference. However, Margaret argues that the small things we are trying to do, might not make that big of a difference, even collectively. Refusing plastic straws, eating less meat, and riding our bikes instead of driving our cars are all positive things, but frankly, they hardly make a dent in the problem. Large scale, political, and industrial change is what needs to happen if we are to stabilize what is world temperatures. Margaret says that the entire system really needs to change if we are to have a chance. This means that people in charge have to make some big decisions. Our best use of time might be spent trying to influence who is making those decisions and how they are making them. What Can We Do? It can be extremely hard to deal with this kind of information. Anger, sadness, shame, and frustration may all come out at once. Dr. Klein Salamon encourages you to not let your emotions go to waste. Take that energy and try to make some progress. In her new book, Margaret explains that allowing ourselves to feel these emotions will help us battle what is ahead. It’s okay to feel these things, in fact it’s what might make the difference in how we act. This really is a simple, though critical, issue. Temperatures rising will cause problems, potentially civilization collapsing ones. If we have a way to stop that from happening, we ought to. That’s the simplicity of the decision. Implementing it may be the hardest thing humanity has done, but it will be the most important as well.   Resources: Margaret on Rich Roll’s Podcast What Lies Beneath The Climate Mobilization Margaret’s Book   Thank you to my wonderful sponsor Tracksmith, Athletic Greens, and Under Belly for sponsoring this episode of the Running for Real Podcast.   Tracksmith is a Boston based running clothing company that truly cares about the quality and care of their running clothes. When you see that big time coordinator on the sidelines covering his face with that football play call sheet, it's pretty exciting. You think that's just what a football coach is supposed to look like. What you need to have in your hand on game day to be official. This week's JDFB Quick Clinic takes a look at those offensive and defensive call sheets. What needs to be on your call sheet? And do you even need one in your hands? Do You Need a Football Play Call Sheet? Before you start downloading templates and filling out every call in your playbook, take some time to consider if you even need a play call sheet. If you can't remember your play calls, do you have too much? The Coach Simple, Play Fast, Win philosophy does not rely on a big playbook. You aren't trying to win a chess match. You're putting the faith in your athletes to execute on the field on game day. You keep the play calls simple so that your players are confident in what they're being asked to do, so that they can play at a high level on game day. The play calls aren't the secret sauce. But, you probably do need a call sheet. Especially at first. When you start using a new coaching system, it can be hard to keep it all straight in your head. Even if the calls are simple. And if you're going to be using wrist bands for your calls, you might need a play call sheet just as a reference to those calls on the wrist band. What Needs to Be on Your Call Sheet? You've made the decision. At least for starters, you need to have a call sheet in your hand on the sidelines. Who knows how long you'll need it. There's a good chance you won't look at it much after the 1st Quarter. At least, not for actual play call advice. It's nice to have if you just freeze up in that regard but you'll find you get into the flow of the game most of the time. Play call sheets are simple, You can google up football play call sheets and find plenty of templates. I've used a few as a foundation, but eventually they evolve into what I really need. The few call sheets I've made in recent years start as a very, very basic Excel spreadsheet. In this episode of the JDFB Quick Clinic, I'll go into exactly what goes on that spreadsheet at the start. Then we'll look at how that spreadsheet evolves over time. By the way, if you're going to be a football coach for long, you probably need to get pretty good with spreadsheets. They're a great tool for making everything from call sheets, to practice plans and equipment inventory.

Am I My Brothers Keeper? Guilt-Trip Anyone?

Turning the Page

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 12, 2020 12:48

It was the feelings of a guilt trip and the words of being a ‘Brothers Keeper’ that triggered me. But was it genuinely helping me and them to think this way? Something needed to change. Some people seem to be able to push the manipulation guilt trip button every time. They tell you how life has been hard. They share their background and a wide range of struggles. You listen, and you empathize with their struggle, and indeed life is hard for some people. Then you look at yourself and all that you have. You may begin to feel some guilt, then some sense of a need to help them. You want to help, but you have only so much life, energy, time, and money. In the Bible, there is a story, or in particular, a phrase from that story, that can kick into gear and hit the guilt-trip button. My Brothers Keeper  It is the story of the first murder and an attempt to deflect blame. It comes right from the story of Cain killing Abel in the first book of the Bible – Genesis. Two brothers, Cain and Abel, bring gifts to God. Abel’s gift was accepted because he did what was right. Cain does not do what was right, and so it was rejected. Cain was furious, and God could see that he was angry. That is where we pick up the story. The Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your countenance [facial expression] fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is lurking at the door; its desire is for you, but you must master it.” Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let us go out to the field.” And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel, and killed him.  Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” He said, “I do not know; am I my brother’s keeper?” And the Lord said, “What have you done? Listen; your brother’s blood is crying out to me from the ground! Genesis 4:6-10 Before we go any further, the word ‘keeper’ comes from the Hebrew word ‘Shomer’ which means ‘keeper,’ ‘guardian,’ and ‘watcher.’ At first glance, Cain wanted to avoid the issue. He knew exactly where Abel was. Avoid and hide by saying a lie. We all do it to see if we can get away with our murders. Then he says, ‘Am I my brother’s keeper?’ asking if he is the one that is meant to know where his brother is located. He is essentially saying, ‘How would I know that? There is no GPS tracker attached to him.’ God is offering an opportunity for Cain to come clean and confess to what he has done. Instead, Cain tries to shift responsibility away from himself for what he had done and to put it on to God. Its a manipulation, an attempt to guilt-trip God. Essentially he is saying ‘God, you knew I was angry and you did nothing about it. Arent you, God, the keeper, guardian, and watcher of Abel? You could have stopped all this. So don’t blame me. I can’t be held responsible for my actions.’ The point is that God could see Cain’s heart and the murderous anger within him. God warned him of it and Cain’s personal responsibility to master it. Cain chose to ignore God’s counsel. Life is hard, and it’s easy to blame others and God for our difficulties, some of which may be quite valid. But then we turn around and expect others, including God, to fix life, without any acceptance of our human failings and personal responsibilities. We project onto others our anger, pain, resentment, and try to guilt-trip manipulate them, including God, into making things better. It’s all about us. We want God and others to do for us what we are expected to do for ourselves. The ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ of being a brother or sister keeper This little story tells us a lot about responsibility and where it starts and finishes. The ‘Yes’ I believe that to some degree, I am to have a caring, loving, and keeping relationship with others.  When I see injustices, I need to respond. I am called to care for others and help them. I am, in a sense, to be like God in this instance where he warned Cain of what he could see could happen. I also need to make sure they know they are responsible to ‘master’ their own life. As a father, I took full responsibility for my children when they were little. I was their keeper, guardian, and I watched over everything about them. As they got older, I passed over more of the responsibility to them. I gave them advice and let them make choices and accept the responsibility for the decisions they made. I didn’t rescue them, but they knew I was there for them. The ‘No’ I am not my brothers or sisters keeper in the sense that I will not take responsibility for the choices they made.  I am not going to cross the line where I do for others what they could and should be doing for themselves. God didn’t intervene with Cain because Cain had freedom of choice. God does not have puppet strings ‘coming down from heaven’ connected to our movements. Is someone ‘shoulding’ on you? I’ve heard and seen it many times. Those words of ‘We should be doing more for them’. The words may be voiced verbally, or they could be internal whispers that have a tinge of obligation, guilt shadowing around them. I remember two women who used to come to our Tuesday night service. Well, actually they only ever came when we had a meal. Primarily they only came for what they could get. When I asked them if they could help wash some dishes, there was always some excuse that they couldn’t help. Great stories of struggle were told. There was an attitude that it was everyone else’s responsibility to look after them. I would sense them trying to guilt-trip me, and they were masters at it. They had people running around after them doing all sorts of things. They had never really grown up. There was a dependency lifestyle, and they were milking it for all its worth. It was idleness instead of industry. Whenever I sense this feeling of being guilt-tripped by a P.L.O.M. (Poor Little Old Me), I go to one question. ‘What are you doing about this? I shift the responsibility back on to them. It’s like what God did with Cain when he said, ‘you must master it’. I get very pragmatic and practical. I don’t rescue. Rescuing teaches nobody anything and only breeds resentment, tiredness, and fatigue in yourself and dependency on others. Anyone unwilling to work should not eat.  It may seem harsh, but I think there are too many people in society that are getting too much for doing too little. Sure, there are always exceptions to the rule, but I have met too many people who draw a government benefit, etc. that do nothing to make things better for themselves or others. I know that not everyone is capable of maintaining a full-time job or even find one, but it’s the attitudes and belief systems of entitlement and dependency on others that annoy me. On this episode we take a critical look at what #VirtualLearning has exposed good and bad about education. Our goal continues to be to provide take aways for now and later. We will discuss things that need to be tossed when we return to school and things that need to stick around. Virtual Learning is Crazy The pandemic of Covid-19 is upon us. Who knew that there would be so much "free" time yet we feel so overwhelmed and busy with our lives? We, like many educators, are striving to make this virtual classroom as meaningful as possible while battling equity and engagement issues. We will continue to provide usable takeways even in a real classroom. That journey continues in this episode as we evaluate what needs to go and what needs to stay. What needs to go? Unfortunately, this virtual learning has exposed some shortcomings in education. We are not suggesting that the teachers or the educational system is inadequate in anyway, but rather somethings have been exaserbated in this virtual world. Multiple Learning Management Systems - It is not the learning management systems that need to go. Whether you use Schoology, Infinite Campus, Canvas or GoogleClassroom, they are all great. Its the fact that it is possible that a single student is being asked to navigate more than one of these systems or more in their day. Not enough instruction is being dedicated to teaching the platform. I, like many, help the student navigate the platform each day in class and take for granted them not needing to truly learn how to use it. This have been exposed because now the parents are being asked to help them navigate multiple platforms and it is causing incredible hiccups in the communication system. Communication is critical to engaging all stakeholders. So what needs to go? Pick 1 learning management system for the student(building). Many buildings may very well have a single platform, other may even require said single platform. This is not always the case. Let's help the student and better engage the stakeholders by settling on one platform in our building. This will come with some growing pains, but how much more effective if they become masters of one rather than beginners of many. Tech Proficiency - It is important to make them more profcient at the tech you do use. Now is not the time to introduce a new tech tool. With that being said, find a handleful of tools that are most effective and dominate that tech. We are as guilty as many others of tech hopping; this week its one and next week its another. Email Communication - How do we better communicate without flooding an inbox. This has gotten worse as we have students who have disengaged from learning and their parents are receiving 5-10 lengthy emails a day. A link to a fluid document that provides detail of communication can help this issue. Collaborating better with colleagues to send a unified message. This is a lot of work and we are trying to conquer this ourselves. A quick fix, but it overflows our inbox, is to CC colleagues so they are aware of what is being communicated. What Needs to Stick? Differentiation of Instruction - New, trendy and unavoidable are teachers providing their instruction using audio and video. This is great, but this is not the takeaway. We keep hearing, be sure you are communicating with your students in multiple modalities. YES!!! We have arrived. This should be how it always is. Even if the students are in front of us having the passage read aloud or a video of us explaining it again for our students is immensely beneficial. Use this time to create a library that can be used now and forever. If that student is absent next year, they can now better accecss what they missed because you are on video. Consider mastering some of these tools like Screencastify to use from here out. Maybe you even take advantage of these free trials to create more than what is necessary for this final month or so of this virtual school ye...

225 - Mortgage Industry Meltdown Time To Get Serious

Cash Flow Guys Podcast

WOW oh WOW Ladies and gents, please take a minute to read THIS: Written by Barry Habib, a very well respected economist in the mortgage industry. The direct link to his article is: https://mbshighway.com/mortgage-crisis.html The Coronavirus Meltdown The current Coronavirus crisis is having a critical impact on the Mortgage Industry, which could potentially make the 2008 financial crisis pale in comparison. The pressing issue centers around the capital that’s required by Mortgage Lenders to be able to function and meet covenants that are required for them to continue to lend. Here’s How the Mortgage Market Works Let’s begin with the mortgage process. A borrower goes to a Mortgage Originator to obtain a mortgage. Once closed, the loan is handled by a Servicer, which may or may not be the same company that originated the loan. The borrower submits payments to the Servicer, however, the Servicer does not own the loan, they are simply maintaining the loan. This means collecting payments and forwarding them to the investor, paying taxes and insurance, answering questions, etc. While they maintain or “service” the loan, the asset itself is sold to an aggregator or directly to a government agency like Fannie Mae (FNMA), Freddie Mac (FHLMC), or Ginnie Mae (GNMA). The loan then gets placed inside a large bundle, which is put in the hands of an Investment Banker. The Investment Banker converts those loans into a Mortgage-Backed Security (MBS) that can be sold to the public. This shows up in different investments like Mutual Funds, Insurance Plans, and Retirement Accounts. The Servicer role is very critical. In order to obtain the right to service loans, the Servicer will typically pay 1% of the loan amount upfront. The Servicer then receives a monthly payment or “strip” equal to about 30 basis points (bp) per year. Because they paid about 1% to obtain the servicing rights and receive roughly 30bp in annual income, the breakeven period is approximately 3 years. The longer that loan remains on the books, the more money that Servicer makes. In many cases, the Servicer might want to use leverage to increase their level of income. Therefore, they may often finance half of the cost of acquiring the loan and pay the rest in cash. Servicer Dilemma As you can imagine, when interest rates drop dramatically, there is an increased incentive for many people to refinance their loans more rapidly. This causes the loans that a Servicer had on their books to pay off sooner…often before that 3-year breakeven period. This servicing runoff creates losses for that Mortgage Lender who is servicing the loan. The more loans in a Mortgage Lender’s portfolio, the greater the loss. Servicing runoff, or even the anticipation of it, can adversely impact the market valuation of a servicing portfolio. But at the same time, Lenders typically experience an increase in new loan activity because of the decline in interest rates. This gives them additional income to help overcome the losses in their servicing portfolio. But the Coronavirus has caused a virtual shutdown of the US economy, which has created an unprecedented amount of job losses. This adds a new risk to the servicer because borrowers may have difficulty paying their mortgage in a timely manner. And although the Servicer does not own the asset, they have the responsibility to make the payment to the investor, even if they have not yet received it from the borrower. Under normal circumstances, the Servicer has plenty of cushion to account for this. But an extreme level of delinquency puts the Servicer in an unmanageable position. I’m From the Government and I’m Here to Help In the Government’s effort to help those who have lost their jobs because of the Coronavirus shutdown, they have granted forbearance of mortgage payments for affected individuals. This presents an enormous obstacle for Servicers who are obligated to forward the mortgage payment to the investor, even though they have not yet received it. Fortunately, there is a new facility set up to help Mortgage Servicers bridge the gap to the investor. However, it is unclear as to how long it will take for Servicers to access this facility. But what has not been yet contemplated is the fact that a borrower who does not make their very first mortgage payment causes that loan to be ineligible to be sold to an investor. This means that the Servicer must hold onto the asset itself, which ties up their available credit. And with so many new loans being originated of late, the amount of transactions that will not qualify for sale is significant. This restricts the Lender’s ability to clear their pipeline and get reimbursed with cash so they can now fund new transactions.   Mark to Market This week, due to accelerated prepayments and the uncertainty of repayment, the value of servicing was slashed in half from 1% to 0.5%. This drastic decrease in value prompted margin calls for the many Servicers who financed their acquisition of servicing. Additionally, the decreased value of a Lender’s servicing portfolio reduces the Lender’s overall net worth. Since the amount a lender can lend is based on a multiple of their net worth, the decrease in value of their servicing portfolio asset, along with the cash paid for margin calls, reduces their capacity to lend. Question...Now do you see why it is important to to learn how to raise private money to fund your real estate purchases?  Youcan due that right now at PrivateMoneyCrashCourse.com Unintended Consequences The Fed’s desire to bring mortgage rates down isn’t just damaging servicing portfolios because of prepayments, it’s also wreaking chaos in Lenders’ ability to hedge their risk. Let’s look at what happens when a borrower locks in their mortgage rate with a Mortgage Lender. Mortgage rates are based on the trading of Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS). As Mortgage-Backed Securities rise in price, interest rates improve and move lower. A locked rate on a mortgage is nothing more than a Lender promising to hold an interest rate, for a period of time, or until the transaction closes. The Lender is at risk for any MBS price changes in the marketplace between the time they agreed to grant the lock and the time that the loan closes. If rates were to rise because MBS prices declined, the Lender would be obligated to buy down the borrower’s mortgage rate to the level they were promised. And since the Lender doesn’t want to be in a position of gambling, they hedge their locked loans by shorting Mortgage-Backed Securities. Therefore, should MBS drop in price, causing rates to rise, the Lender’s cost to buy down the borrower’s rate is offset by the Lender’s gains of their short positions in MBS. Now think about what happens when MBS prices rise or improve, causing mortgage rates to decline. On paper, the Lender should be able to close the mortgage loan at a better price than promised to the borrower, giving the Lender additional profits. However, the Lender’s losses on their short position negate any additional profits from the improvement in MBS pricing. This hedging system works well to deliver the borrower what was promised while removing market risk from the Lender.   But in an effort to reduce mortgage rates, the Fed has been purchasing an incredible amount of Mortgage-Backed Securities, causing their price to rise dramatically and swiftly. This, in turn, causes the Lenders’ hedged short positions of MBS to show huge losses. These losses appear to be offset, on paper, by the potential market gains on the loans that the lender hopes to close in the future. But the Broker-Dealer will not wait on the possibility of future loans closing and demands an immediate margin call. The recent amount that these Lenders are paying in margin calls is staggering. They run in the tens of millions of dollars. All this on top of the aforementioned stresses that Lenders are having to endure. So, while the Fed believes they are stimulating lending, their actions are resulting in the exact opposite. The market for Government Loans, Jumbo Loans, and loans that don’t fit ideal parameters, have all but dried up. And many Lenders have no choice but to slow their intake of transactions by throttling mortgage rates higher and by reducing the term that they are willing to guarantee a rate lock. Furthering the Fed’s unintended consequences was the announcement to cut interest rates on the Fed Funds Rate by 1% to virtually zero. Because the Fed’s communication failed to educate the general public that the Fed Funds Rate is very different than mortgage rates, it prompted borrowers in the process to break their locks and try to jump ship to a lower rate. This dramatically increased hedging losses from loans that didn’t end up closing. Even Stephen King Could Not Have Scripted This It’s been said that the Stock market will do the most damage, to most people, at the worst time. And the current mortgage market is experiencing the most perfect storm. Just when volume levels were at the highest in history, servicing runoff at its peak, and pipelines hedged more than ever, the Coronavirus arrived. Lenders need to clear their pipelines, but social distancing is making it more difficult for transactions to be processed. And those loans that are about to close require that employment be verified. As you can imagine, with millions of individuals losing their jobs, those mortgages are unable to fund, leaving lenders with more hedging losses and no income to offset it. What Needs to Be Done Now Fortunately, there are many smart people in the Mortgage Industry who are doing everything they can to navigate through these perilous times. But the Fed and our Government needs to stop making it more difficult. The Fed must temporarily slow MBS purchases to allow pipelines to clear. Lawmakers need to allow for first payment defaults, due to forbearance, to be saleable. And finally, the Fed must more clearly communicate that Mortgage Rates and the Fed Funds Rate are not the same. We have faith that the effects of the Coronavirus will subside and that things will become more normalized in the upcoming months.

Then Erick dives into which movies might be eliminated first and where their votes might go. He breaks down why the race has all but eliminated some of the nominees & keeps hope alive for a few other sneaky contenders. We also do a bunch of if / then scenarios regarding the upcoming BAFTA & WGA Awards before Erick lays out his snubs for the category, why they didn’t gain enough traction this awards season, & he makes his pick. Today International Baptist Church's Music Pastor, brings us a message titled, "What Needs to Change." If we are to be effective Christians and be doing the Lord's will, some things need to change. 1. From Avoidance to Association, 2:13-17 2. From Religion to Relationship, 2:18-22 This message is part of the "Give Your Life – Serving like our Savior" series. The text is Mark 2:12-22 13 And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them. 14 And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him. 15 And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. 16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? 17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. 18 And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not? 19 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. 20 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days. 21 No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse. 22 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles. She Did It Her Way

On today's solocast, Part 2 of a 6 part series I am sharing the 5 things you must do before quitting your job. These 5 things I'm sharing is a compilation of my own experience along with many other women whom I've interviewed, coached and worked with.  Do Your Research and Maximize Your Time Start attending events that are entrepreneurial focused to start surrounding yourself with like minded people and also to better understand what entrepreneurial life is like. Start asking questions to get you in the mindset of what to expect when you’re fully out on your own. For example: What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced as an entrepreneur? What is something you’ve experience that could have been avoided? What is something you wish you would have done prior to quitting your job that you didn’t do? This is a time for you to get really focused and maximize your time. Create an ideal schedule from when you wake up to when you go to bed. When are you scheduling these events, when are you sending emails, when are you meeting people for coffee? What are you saying yes to and what are you saying no to? Make a List of What Needs to Happen Before You Quit Your Job First, the biggest thing to remember is that everyone's risk tolerance is different. This is only for YOU to determine what are YOUR goals and what is on YOUR list. Write out what sort of savings goal you need to hit in order to feel comfortable, how many clients you want to have before taking the leap, write out your fears, what's holding you back, what are you afraid of?  Use these as talking points during our conversations with other entrepreneurs...chances are they went through the same thing you're going through and can help navigate the waters with you.  Know What You're Good At Not everyone who wants to be an entrepreneur knows what they want to do. You might know exactly what you want to do while others have no clue and some of you don’t know which idea to chose to grow. Knowing what you’re good at can help you figure out what you want to do. Email 10 people in your network (or call them) and ask them what is it about you that believe you’re really good at Take the fascinate me quiz HERE. Use Lewis Howes code "schoolofgreatness" Identify the activities that give you energy and makes the time pass quickly Set Goals Now that you've identified and collected information you are now ready to put it all together. Assuming you want to start a business and leave your job, take a look at your calendar and selected the date one year out from when you are reading this post. I recommend at some point getting a paper calendar that you can write on that shows all 12 months. There's something about being able to see the entire year in front of you that makes you thing BIGGER.  Okay, now break that year into 2 parts - first 6 months and the second 6 months. Let's say that right smack dab in the middle is when you're going to launch your business. That means the first six months are focused on researching, collecting, prepping for your big launch. Then after your big launch your focus is around the new set of mini goals you've established in the second half of the six months.  For Examples: Goal: 1 year I am leaving my full-time job and taking the leap First 6 month goal - Prepare for the launch of my business Second 6 month goal - Grow my business to replace 75% of my monthly income Then, within each of those 6 month buckets break it down into quarters, months, weeks and put goals to each of them. Here are some questions to get you started for the first six months: What business do I want to launch? What am I good at? Who are the people I need to surround myself with? How much money do I want saved before taking the leap? How do I get there? What does my ideal schedule look like? When am I going to make time for my business? What entity will I be? How will I manage cashflow? What does my marketing plan look like?  5. Take Action Planning is always fun but then it is time to take action my friend. Find an accountability partner, someone who is either going through the same thing you are or someone who is one step ahead in the journey. Stay connected to stay inspired.  Today's mini interview She Did It Her Way Summit series is with Helena Swyter. All about accounting - you know, the fun stuff ;) Be sure to tune in and listen all the way until the end.
