102: How to Dream Bigger When You're a Natural Operator & Planner

The Ops Authority

Are you a natural visionary, or do you have difficulty dreaming big? Today we are talking about how to dream big when you aren't wired to be a big visionary thinker. Dreaming Big How do you dream big when you're wired to plan small? I want to dream bigger, but I'm wired to be a support system and a servant of other people and it often leads me to dream small. Maybe you are the same way, and you aren't comfortable with the big futuristic dreams. You're telling yourself that since you are an operator you can't dream big, but that's just a lie. You can dream big, it's just uncomfortable for people who are wired in this way.    I've had to work on this myself, so I wanted to share with you how I've broken out of this thinking.   Don't Buy the Lie Telling yourself that you can't dream big is just a lie; we can dream just like anyone else! We all grew up dreaming about what we could be. Just because we are operators doesn't mean that we have zero percent vision.   “Our mind wants to protect us into thinking small because it's very safe.”   I am a risk averse person. I love to be second in command because it protects me as I am executing on someone else's dream. But if we are going to be in business for ourselves we will have to lean into the same things that we are helping our visionaries with. We have to flip the script and dream bigger than we ever have before.   Finding the Time You need time to make this happen, and because we aren't wired this way immediately it will take us some time to settle in. The biggest struggle is that you can't really control when these big dreams are going to come. You are not going to be able to plan this out on your calendar… it just doesn't work that way. Know that it takes time.   Space For me, the best dreaming has come outside of the places I frequent. I need a new environment and a new space, which allows me not to be confined to the typical things that I usually think of. If I want to think new thoughts and expand where I am, I need to leave the four walls of my office.   Leverage your community I love hearing about other people's businesses. I'm not looking to copy them, but I love learning about all of the options that are out there. I am part of a mastermind, which is my safe space to run to when I have big ideas. They also call me out when I'm dreaming too small. Having that community who are able to call me out and guide me when I am thinking too small is so valuable. You need a small and mighty community to lean on.    Why is dreaming a big deal? The same thing day after day is just not going to be fulfilling long term. You also run the risk of being outpaced by your competitors. If you don't continue to push the needle you may fall out of love with what you are doing and building.    “I am certain that your big dream becomes your vision, and your vision becomes your plan.”   We all love plans. So if you don't have new plans that you are creating, you will get stagnant,  and boredom in business is not a good combination. It is a challenge for operators to have that big visionary thinking, but it doesn't mean you are incapable of dreaming big.    I love consistency and methodical action, but if I do it inside of my own business, I'm going to get tired of it. This will lead to monotony and will constrict where you are going long term. You have to think bigger to avoid burnout and boredom.    5 Tips to Thinking Bigger Give yourself 5 years.  Start your thoughts with “By 2026, I will…” This puts you in a safe, defined container, but you are still able to see outside of today.   Start With You Rather Than the Business.  It's much easier to think about what our personal life is going to look like in five years because it's time bound. Think about you before the business and if there are things you want to accomplish in your personal life.   What Needs to Happen? What does your business need to look like if you want to make those personal things happen? This applies specifically to a lifestyle business. What do you need to generate and what does the business need to look like?  Does your business model change?  What if it Worked? If everything went better than imagined? What success would you have? What would you accomplish? What would your business look like?    Don't go directly to planning.  Sit with this big vision for a few weeks or months. When you feel like you can finally voice this new vision, then you can start planning. When it starts to feel safe, put the plans in writing and they will become more powerful once you get to the point where you can speak them.   “Give yourself the space and grace to create the dream before you start breaking it down.” Weekly Ops Activity Come into our facebook group and let us know... if everything went according to plan, what is one success that you would have in the next 5 years of your business?   Episode Sponsor: As operators, one of our key roles is to keep the ship sailing for the businesses we support, and a core component of that is to document systems and processes. Our visionary CEOs that we support don't have the interest in doing this themselves, but they know it has to get done… which is where you come in.   There are lots of ways to document processes, but I want to share with you a powerful tool that I've used that I think you are going to love, called Sweet Process. It allows you to create systems and processes and then turn them into step-by-step instructions or a checklist. It also allows you to have a centralized place for anyone on your team to access your procedures and processes at any time.    The best way to know if Sweet Process works for you is to start using it! 79. How To Be A Present Father And Raise Gentlemen Who Will Pursue Bigger Dreams Than Can Possibly Fit Into Any Box, Meet Jesus Diaz, Jr. An Incredible Dad

An Interview with Melissa Llarena

Happy Father's Day in the U.S. Jesus Diaz Jr. is a dad and my husband. I get to witness how much care and love he pours into our three sons so I wanted to bring him on the podcast to share some of his wisdom with you – whether you are a guy with kids or a single mom who finds herself having to be the father figure in her kid(s)'s lives.  Jesus was born in NYC and raised in Jamaica, Queens. His parents came to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic and they recognized that the only way to improve the life of all future generations would be through the pursuit of an education.  Jesus' dad, in particular, believes in the power of an education to push forward his six children's lives in meaningful ways. As a result, his dad decided to work at NYU, and in turn, put his six kids through an NYU education. Pretty extraordinary, right? All of this to say that Jesus' viewpoint on fatherhood, what it takes to raise gentlemen, how to stay present even if you are returning to a long-commute, and still get them ready to activate their big dreams is valuable.  Part of it could be in his blood but there are parts he learned along the way both of which we will tackle in this conversation. Jesus has three boys himself comprised of identical twins and a singleton.  So enjoy this conversation, not just because I married the guy, but because his personal life and career choices have merited his wisdom on what it takes to raise kids who will dream even bigger. So what is dreaming bigger? Here's what dreaming bigger means to this week's guest: Jesus holds onto a quote a close friend in college shared with him: “if you tell someone your dream and they don't laugh at you then your dream is not big enough.”  Truthfully, we can't wait for our kids to make our bellies laugh!  Meanwhile, for Jesus, his commitment to spreading the importance of an education is not just something he has kept in the family. Aside from Jesus benefitting from his dad's ambitions which also included continuing his education at the Columbia Business School, Jesus has gone on to activate this message to people outside of his family. Early on, Jesus served as the Publisher of Latino University, a national college magazine with a circulation of 200,000 readers and today he continues to bring his dad's message of appreciating your education to underprivileged youth by way of being a founding board member of a charter school in The Bronx. Enjoy this conversation!  Share this with fathers or single mothers who could use a refreshing perspective of what it takes to be a great father figure. Highlights Multifaceted: Being a father is multifaceted. You have to be not only a father in the traditional sense, but a lot more – a coach, a teacher, a protector, and a provider. Being a positive role model throughout all of that is important. Parenting: Being a dad is an open canvas. You don't have to necessarily follow all of the models you've seen or heard before. You can make parenting your own. Attention: You'll never understand how much your parents love you until you have your own child, and then you have to take care of them because then you start to realize how much attention and time your parents put into you.  Curiosity: As a father, you learn as you go so it's a constant learning process. Just by being there, you learn so much. Inviting conversation with your kids is so important, incredible, and necessary. So create that space for yourself in your own daily habit with your kids.  Stories: Retelling the goodness we see in our kids is so important to them. Notice how their  ears perk up when you talk positively about them and around them. Balance: There's a constant battle of trying to figure out that happy medium where you're channeling all the best stuff in their development, but also not being overly harsh in terms of punishment. Independence: There will be a point where your kids will be their own individuals. Teach them to constantly think independently. Presence: All you have to do is be present. Be a steady figure who always shows up and is open to having conversations about anything and everything. Then they will always know they can rely on you for an honest answer, advice and guidance, instead of someone else. Support network: It always takes a village to raise children. It takes good sports programs on weekends, or kung fu or jiu jitsu, different programs that might be available where they can learn some discipline outside of the home and some structure.  Community: Expose your kids to some community groups and show them some other role models and leaders in their community that are in leadership positions as men. Play: Being present shows up differently. It's not just enforcing rules but also letting a little loose and being playful, silly, acting like a kid and just demonstrating a different side of you. Time: You have 18 years to season your children and bake them, if you will. Once you're done with your time, they're going to grow up and bump into the world in their own way. As a parent, you have to calculate what you're going to do and how much time you're going to spend with them. As a dad, you've got to decide, how much do you want to represent? Becoming a man: There's not really a ritual that exists in many communities to alert a boy that he's going to be a man now. So you have to be intentional and make sure they understand the responsibility they must carry forward with their future partners in life.  Dream: Jesus often refers to them as gentlemen when he talks to them because that's what he wants them to be – responsible, thoughtful, intellectual humans, who go into unpredictable life circumstances and always be that rock or pillar for other people around them.  Influence: Everyone plays a role. You can learn so much from your dad. But also, let's not forget what your siblings and what your mom also provides to make you a man, a dad, and even a more well-rounded human being.  Creativity: Through the power of observation that you have a good sense for the talents your kids might have. And then you get to brand them in a way that's going to serve them and help them figure out and cultivate these ambitions. Brand your kids, but give them an opportunity to continue to explore their very many talents.  Courage: Being present is a huge ambition but be open to having both easy conversations and hard conversations with your kids. Sales, sales prospecting, and outreach. They’re always tricky. Agencies and consultancies rely on them, especially in the early stages of their business, but trying to figure out how to make these activities effective is a constant uphill battle. In addition, it's difficult to get it right without coming across as too salesy, and in a way that gets the right value in front of the right people at the right time.Meet Brooklin Nash, the Head of Content at Sales Hacker.  Sales Hacker is a website that offers discussions, articles, podcasts, videos, and sales training. It's a community that is "100% geared to helping salespeople gain new skills or improve their game." If you're running an agency, are a freelancer, or are part of an agency sales team, that means you. So don't miss today's podcast. Sales are integral to agency success and Brooklin has some great insights from his experience and community. The highlights: [1:35] The importance of researching your prospects, and what you're looking for. [4:46] The right amount of time to spend on research. [8:20] Where a cold email strategy starts to go off the rails.  [10:30] Good strategy for cold emails. [12:06] How Sales Hacker approaches content. [14:01] The most successful pieces at Sales Hacker. [15:28] Traffic sources. [17:56] Favorite sales outreach tools. [21:07] Brooklin's causes. The insights:The importance of researching prospects, and how to do itBrooklin stresses that anyone engaging in the sales process should spend a lot more time on research than they probably would otherwise think to."Don't just do a light search on LinkedIn Sales Navigator, pull up a list, and then reach out to blast the whole list. Taking time to really qualify who you're reaching out to and why will be time well-spent before you ever send your first email." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIf3xD0mlQQAs for what you're looking for when you do all this research?"One, you're looking for a company matching your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP). If most of your clients are of a certain size and in a specific niche, start there."The other thing you're looking for is a signal that they might be ready for help with their marketing."They have a new Director of Marketing or a VP, and the new executive came from a place where they ran a strong content marketing presence the new company doesn't have, for example." Brooklin says hiring can be another signal."If they're hiring for their marketing team, there's a good chance they're going to be looking for external help too. They might not just be hiring those content marketing managers. They may be looking for contractors and agencies to actually execute on the work. You can look for those signals pretty easily with LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and build your list from there."Finally, Brooklin says you're looking for information that can help you with your outreach efforts."A podcast they just did. An article they just published. A question they asked. Something that puts the value first and the content first. Instead of: hey, you're in marketing. We're a marketing agency. Can we help you out? Start with where they're at, first."The right amount of time to spend on researchWhen we already have so many demands on our time, all this research can feel like a lot of wasted effort. So how much time is optimum for making the process work?Brooklin admits it’s hard to quantify."It's going to depend on how much you're reaching out. But unless you're a giant agency, you're going to be better served reaching out to ten dream clients than even a few hundred clients that maybe don't fit your ICP or who might be harder to work with or might be past your niche a little bit. So take the time to focus on the right prospective clients and I think you're going to have better conversations down the line."Brooklin has spent up to 30 minutes on an email in the past. "Quite a bit of time from a cold outreach perspective, but it paid off. We were only looking for a handful of new clients, so it didn't matter that it didn't scale well." He has also tried other strategies where he sent out hundreds of emails and tried to automate the process."I spent a couple of hours and only used intent data. When I sent hundreds I got a 15% reply rate. Only one of them became a client."Where a cold email strategy starts to go off the rails"The number one place a cold email strategy goes off the rails is when you make it about you vs. them. And that's something you can scale. Not as well as those hyper-personalized emails that take 20-30 minutes. You can take the time to make it about what their problem is, and then as the footnote what your potential solution is."Brooklin stresses that you really can't make it about what an amazing agency you are."It's: hey. I noticed you were working on this. Or you started this campaign. Or you just started this new job. How's that going? Make it about them first. This is essentially Sales 101, but I think content marketers often forget that, whether they're reaching out for new clients as a freelancer or as a small agency, or even reaching out for backlinks and earned media spots."Good strategy for cold emails"I think mentioning a specific piece of content will always work well. Saying: I checked out this article and really loved this piece of it. Or: I heard your podcast interview on this. Or even from a brand perspective: I saw your LinkedIn ads for your brand and they look great, I like this about them. Anything that makes it legit I think will at least get you an open and probably a response."And if you do send cold emails like this to thirty people?"I think you will at least get an open and probably a response, vs. a generic: ‘I checked out your blog and I loved the quality of your articles’ line to 300 people. You might not even get 30 replies. It's not the number of people you reach out to. It's taking the time to engage with what they're putting out and taking the time to ask how you can help them."How Sales Hacker approaches contentSales Hacker is a content-heavy site. Here's how they approach building out their content."We run almost entirely off contributors. Our webinars are from panelists. Most of our articles are from contributing authors. We have our podcast guests. We have a lot of opportunities to work with partners. Sometimes paid partners. Most of the time, just organic, relationship-based partnerships."He says there's a lot in common with accepting content for his site and the kind of cold outreach salespeople might need to do."If you're taking the time to really look through what our guidelines are and you have a specific question or a specific point or a specific topic that meets those guidelines, then you're going to get a reply. I'm never not going to reply to you, even if the specific topic isn't a great fit. If you're putting in the thought that shows me we can go back and forth and land on something, great. If you're reaching out, it's very obviously cut and pasted, that's not personalization. That hurts your case. You're not getting a reply because I know they're going to 300 other people. I'm not going to put in the work to reply to you if you're not going to put in the work to start this partnership off on the right foot." The most successful pieces at Sales HackerBrooklin says the most successful pieces of content on his site are detailed, action-oriented, and offer either a template or a visual framework, things people can apply directly and right away. Here's a list of the most successful pieces on his site. You don't have to use best-in-class tools meant for a large sales team. You can use self-service, less expensive ones."His recommendations: LinkedIn Site Navigator Outreach - If you're a larger agency/have a sales team in place, you're going to want something advanced like Outreach to support your team and improve over time. Phantom Buster - Automate data scraping from LinkedIn. Wiza - Quickly create lists from hundreds of leads.  MailShake - A tool to help you send personalized cold emails at scale. Lavender - Grades your sales emails. A Gmail add-on. When it comes to photos of your kids. What are you having most trouble with? Organization - You have so many digital photos from newborn phase on up and you don’t know how to compartmentalize it all? Time - You would love to be the scrapbooking mom but just don’t have the time or energy to do it. Life in a pandemic is all consuming! Lack of Creativity - You tried apps online but you don’t have the creativity to create a photo book from scratch on your own. We are going to answer all your questions around preserving photos and precious memories today! Nichole Healy’s background starts with dance, which she pursued even at the college level. She studied dance at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She always had a desire to build a business, as she hails from an entrepreneurial family and also wanted to create a business that was BOTH meaningful and provided the kind of freedom that allowed her to adventure with her own family! To that end, Nichole began her entrepreneurial endeavor when she was feeling tremendous mom-guilt over not having photo books done for her family. She thought there had to be an easier way to stay on top of getting her memories archived into photo books. She quickly discovered other parents were also frustrated that their memories were lost to the cloud too. Her business meets this frustration head on. Memory My Way was founded in 2017 when Nichole started taking on clients one-on-one. Along the way she became a Certified Photo Organizer and today, she has gathered everything she knows about organizing, curating, and getting a plan in place for success into a membership experience. Inside, each member can take control of their photo clutter (if they feel unorganized) and/or put a system in place to get photo books done every year by learning from her self-paced courses and workshops. Each member is paired with a professional designer who custom creates photo books for them - saving tons of precious time and ensuring their books get done. Her mission is to help families rescue their memories from the cloud and remember their best adventures gathered around photo books, instead of another screen! Nichole is also working on moving the membership to a web and mobile app that will only make all of this easier and more streamlined going forward. She describes her app as "the cloud with a heart" because it will be more concerned with getting memories into our hands instead of just keeping them locked away in the cloud. Nichole is married to her husband of almost 11 years, who is a pilot, and they have two boys ages 7 and 9. They live near Atlanta, GA in the Northeast Georgia Mountains. How Caregiving is Replacing Long Term Care Facilities

Rosalind Jones joins the Injured Senior Podcast to educate us on caregiving and how it is replacing long term care facilities. Rosalind is a seasoned health care provider who built upon her strong medical foundation by opening Jacksonville’s Best Caregivers, an organization that provides short and long-term health care.Rosalind confirms that caregivers can provide more than a facility can. There is more one on one human connection, and that person’s quality of life can extend 3-5 years. Being at home gives people an extended period of life; they are more comfortable, can get their hair done, go to the movies, and get the human interaction they need. Long-term care facilities are necessary later on in a person’s illness or age, as opposed to early on. This is because technology and medicine allow people to live in the comfort of their home. In This Episode:[05:00] Meet Rosalind Jones. [6:22] Rosalind shares how she started in caregiving. She began as a sitter in the hospital with on the job training [12:15] Sometimes people are afraid to ask for help. They are afraid their car, house, or identity will be taken away from them. This can cause isolation. [12:40] Now that caregiving is an industry, is it replacing the nursing home [16:50] What caregivers can give, that facilities cannot Key Takeaways:We have all been caregiversThe role of the caregiver is to come in and monitor the health of your loved ones, monitor that they are taking medication. Care can range from just checking in, to full timeYou can be a caregiver on a long term or short term basis, depending on if it’s a slip or a disease. Technology and medicine are keeping people healthy longer. Facilities are now needed later, as opposed to early on. Meet Rosalind Marshall-JonesRosalind Marshall-Jones is an innovative speaker with more than fifteen years of progressive experience as an entrepreneur and leader in the caregiving industry. Rosalind has an extensive medical background that afforded her the opportunity to see the gap and need for quality care. Are you using the art of leverage in your mentoring, coaching or tutoring business to get more done in less time? In this episode of The Tutor Podcast, Neil shares with you benefits of leverage in your business to do more of what you most love to do and earn more money. Listen in to discover how to systemise your business, optimise your time, build up a network of contacts and use other peoples knowledge to get what you want. Contact Neil (info@neilcowmeadow.com)   KEY TAKEAWAYS   Leverage is very important to growing and scaling your business but as entrepreneurs, there is a belief that ‘nobody can do it better than I can’.  As teachers there are limited hours to teach so we must leverage our time, people, money, systems, knowledge and contacts. All of these can work for you with very little input, once set up and optimised.  It’s never too early to start using leverage. Time: You can leverage your time more efficiently by setting a daily routine for yourself and listing out what tasks you want to get done by the end of the day and then set actions to complete those tasks. Aim to stay accountable for your time and get the best use out of it.   People: Ask yourself who can I get to do this? Build a team of experts around you that will charge less than you do for teaching. Build up a network of contacts that you can leverage to get all of your tasks done so that you can remain focused on what you’re best at, teaching.   Systems: Defined as a streamlined way of completing a task so that you can continue to grow your business in a reputable manner. Systems will make you fast and help you check the boxes off your daily routine and improve your teaching. Set up good and consistent systems for your business with a manual so that you can then farm out managing the systems for even more leverage.   Knowledge: Who knows what you want to know? Use other peoples knowledge as well as your own to get what you want. Seek out a mentor, teach or coach to help minimise your competence to excellence by leaning on others inspired thinking. BEST MOMENTS   “Decide to do what only you can and farm out everything else and only focus on the vital few things that you love to do.” “50% of something is better than 100% of nothing” “Figure out what it is that only you can do, what you’re unique at doing” “Farm out everything that you don’t what to do” “The first time you set up your systems will be the worst time you set up your systems” “What devices can you use to make you better at what you do”   VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to The Tutor Podcast on the Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-tutor-podcast/id1369191372)! Sleep Apnea, Sleeping Disorders & Why Can't I Sleep?

CPAP Battery We have gone on and on about the life-changing benefits of CPAP machines for people diagnosed with sleep apnea. The CPAP device curtails the problem at hand and, at the same time, controls the comorbidities that come along with it. These include diabetes, stroke, heart failure, obesity, loss of cognitive skills, and even cancer. All in all, it seems like a great deal at the price of just one CPAP device. It keeps the sleep apnea and the comorbidities at bay ensure that you have a good night's sleep and wake up well-rested.How does the CPAP machine work? The CPAP machine is a compact device with a mask that fits your nose and mouth, a hose that connects the mask to the main part of the machine with a motor to pump continuous air at a specific pressure. Maintaining airflow at the particular pressure is very important as any change or pause can cause the airways inside the body to collapse, leading to a respiratory pause.Depending on the time period and intensity of this pause, the metabolism of the body is impacted. The oxygen flow to the brain and other visceral organs is decreased or can even be stopped. Breathing not only provides oxygen to the cells but also removes metabolic wastes like carbon dioxide. It is clear from the mechanics mentioned above that any change in the airflow from the CPAP machine can be impaired the breathing process and possibly be life-threatening. Why would you need CPAP batteries? The CPAP machine is fueled by power and needs to be plugged in when it's working if any change in the power supply or fluctuation in the voltage can lead to a change in the airway pressure. But what if there is a power outage. What if something worse happens and the area you live in lies in the path of a storm or blizzards that are powerful enough to knock the power lines down. True, that these occurrences are rare. But when it is a question of your health, make sure that you are prepared for every worst-case scenario. What is the best CPAP battery?Moving on, here are the best CPAP batteries that have the best reviews and are also recommended by physicians.1.    BPS Freedom CPAP Travel Battery– can be found online within $330-$250, is portable, and has a sleek design along with a digital display. The battery is lithium-ion based and is compatible with popular CPAP.2.    Medistrom Pilot-24 Lite- can work through all night long, can be used in flight, can charge handheld devices, and has a built-in flashlight.3.    Philips Respironics Respironics Travel Battery Kit- suitable for taking along flights, has a sleek design, and comes along with a travel case. The best part is it comes with a long battery expectancy.Maintaining CPAP battery life over timeYou are making a considerable amount of investment for the CPAP battery and the device, so it would do well to keep in mind how to maintain it. The most significant issue with chargeable battery is that they tend to get discharged faster as they become older. Even though each device comes with its expiry date, taking these steps to maintain your battery will help elongate this expiry date. These small tips will go a long way and increase your battery life. Use your CPAP backup battery and the machine with care and enjoy sound sleep anywhere and everywhere. .Support the show (https://wellawaresystems.com/)

How to Not Want to Kill Each Other as a Couple When You Work TogetherWhen both spouses in the marriage own their own businesses, there’s bound to be crossoverIt really takes being a true teamAs a couple you both need to be on the same page when it comes to family time vs work timeYou have to help each other, sometimes that’s with work tasks, sometimes that’s just keeping the kids away from the other for a whileWhen Buckets N Boards started, Matt & Gareth Hired Dynae to help build the visual brandAs a graphic designer with a background in branding development and design, it was a lucky matchThere were some tensions going from a married couple/friend to client/designer relationshipLuckily, Dynae’s a pro and learned early on to separate any criticism from personal feelingsShe’s also a professional mentor, so eventually just taught them how to do all the basics on their ownAs Matt got better at video editing with Buckets N Boards, Dynae saw an opportunity to hire him as a video partner for her photography business as wellMatt already helped assist on sessions anywayPortrait films became something they could offer as a team, providing artistic short films during a portrait session shot in tandem with the traditional still photographs. It’s become very popular and a way to differentiate her photography business from others in their area. We had to figure out who was in charge, and not step in each other’s wayTips for Working togetherBe clear on who is taking the lead when going into a project or session. (Taking turns during a session)Be clear on deadlines. Just because they’re your spouse, doesn’t mean deadlines don’t matter and you’ll get it done when you get to it.Don’t take professional criticism personally.Always be constructive in that criticism

The Sound Podcast with Ira Haberman

Khruangbin is a band that has always fascinated me. Hailing from Houston, Texas the trio up until their most release Mordechai has played instrumental psych rock blended with soul and dub. Their blend of these sonic influences is combined world sounds from Thailand, Middle East and Spain. Bizarre right? Not at all. In fact it all seems to blend quite nicely. On their latest release, Mordechai, aside from the lushness of their sound, they’ve added vocals which creates a whole knew exciting layer for the band and their fans. IntroductionLike, rate, review, share, and subscribeAnswer questionsFarm4profitllc@gmail.com@farm4profitllcWhat’s working for Ag – listener or farmer feedback1) Pivot Bio PROVENTM is predicable – the microbes adhere and colonize on the roots and apply nitrogen every day. Synthetic nitrogen turns to gas, leaches, washes away and is not always in proximity to the roots and, therefore unavailable to the corn. Because it sticks to the roots and works every day – it is highly predicable.2) Pivot Bio PROVENTM is productive – light, sand soils and fields with sloping topography tend to lose more nitrogen. Most field have many soil zones and varying topography and therefore crop productivity varies widely across a field. Because it adheres directly to the roots – Pivot Bio PROVENTM levels out crop productivity across a range of conditions.3) It’s weather proof – rain does not wash it away as with synthetic nitrogen.4) All of these factors add up to improved ROI – and ROI is mission critical for growers.Introduce GuestAt Farm4Profit one of our favorite things to do is inspire others to achieve their goals, build their farm or business, and help you generate higher levels of profitability.  Whether you are young or old, I want to encourage you to grow or start your business and achieve your dreams. The most important thing to remember is that, no matter your age, if you are alive, you can achieve more.  Keep working towards your goals, work hard, stay hungry, and remember to be great. These episodes are all stemming from the feedback of our “how to grow your farm” show.  That is #24 if you didn’t catch it.  We have now talked about becoming a better leader #25, how to market your farm for growth #26, the right way to build your referral network in #27 and now today we will talk about how having a strong business acumen can benefit your farm and set it up for growth.Elliot Uphoff. @elliotuphoff. (Shelby County, IL)Side jobs are great with helping cash flow problems and also allow you to invest more money back into the farm.  I will continue to run side businesses until my operation is large enough that it can provide for my family but still then I’ll probably keep doing jobs that are sure moneyFor small farmers like myself diversity is key.The people you admire don't have it figured out, and that's okay. You’ll be graced with instant clarity and acute focus. We see others who look like they have it all worked out. They seem successful, they have the perfect social media posts, but in the real world, we are all just figuring it out. Well into your 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and even 60s, things are still evolving and falling into place. Life is an evolution of changes; you can reinvent yourself and change your mind at any time, and it’s okay. Learning who you are is a lifelong journey and a radical adventure at that.Success Comes To Those Who WorkAlec Amundson. @alamudson  (Osage, Iowa)We joke that we have good lights on our equipment because we do most of our farming at night.Takes some planning ahead for not only inputs, but transportation and picking kids up I would say it’s generally hard to run an ag related business at the same time as farming, but things that can be done off season, ie hardware installation, soil sampling, fertility prescriptions, etc. allow you more time in the cab during the busy seasons.Every single time that you put in work, you get a proportional amount of results and successes from that work.  The more work that you put in, the more success that occurs in your life, the more happy coincidences occur, and the more you realize that you achieve. You begin to create your own luckSales and Negotiation Are Important Skills To LearnSales is one of the most important, most essential skills that you will learn in your lifeIt allows you to convey not only your products, but also your ideas to others in a way that makes them enthusiastic about it too.  Learning not just to “sell,” but also to communicate with people in a way that makes them interested in an essential skill, not just in business, but also in life.“Never Split the Difference” is a book on negotiationsNegotiating is a talent that can be built up with practice. When running a business it gives you more practice to get better for the farm.Follow Up, Follow Up, Follow UpSchedule out your follow upFiguring out when you should touch base with prospects, clients, and referrals next.  This helps not only increase sales, but also develop a better relationship with my clients and vendors.Manage Your TimeJeremy Williams @Wills_Bros_Farms (Martinsville, IL)We ran our custom business until it was costing us time and efficiency on our own farm by being away spraying for someone when we need to take care of our own farmBe sure it benefits your farm moving forward and holding you back from profit on your own farm by having a side businessAnother thing that we have found essential to the success as a business owner is managing your time correctly.  It can seem tiring, confusing, and unorganized at times but you need to understand how to create a schedule Use a calendar or app for tasks, a to-do list for the morning that you write before you go to bed, and form habits that help you achieve success.Having a clear vision will help make prioritizing things easier.  Do what is most time sensitive or important first rather than the easiest task first. The biggest key to running virtually any business successfully is your ability to concentrate most of your time and effort on the activities that will bring in the most money. That means that you have to minimize the time spent on routine functions. It takes a village.Chad E West @dylangreico (Central Iowa)I think one of the most important things in running my business is doing business with people who are looking out for your success and not just trying to sell you something.  I always say I deal with people not companies. I have an agronomist that I really enjoy working with if he calls tomorrow and says he's taking a job at a different company I'm going with him no questions asked.I always say if I was already doing business with you and I took a box of seed away from you and you had done nothing wrong and your seed performed great would that be right?I find that that loyalty has really been beneficial over timeYou won’t ever be able to know it all Assemble an amazing team,Find the right partner. Fill your gapsStarting and growing a company means learning to delegate.Commit your partnership agreement to writing. Partnerships don’t always work out, so you have to have written procedures on how to run the business, how to settle disputes, and if necessary, how to handle the departure of one of the partners. If you’re a sole proprietor, the partnership issue won’t apply to you directly. But anytime you start a business, you will be involved in all kinds of loose and informal partnerships with people you need to rely on. They can be suppliers, vendors, contractors or even major clients. Choose them all wisely, understanding that a bad relationship has the potential to sabotage your business.Burned bridges stay with you for life.Luke lauritsen @lauritsen4440 (Arlington NE)Relationship ... People do business with people they trust no matter what the person is selling or service they are providing...When you work for yourself, you realize how important all relationships are. A burned bridge will stay with you forever, and you quickly learn forgiveness is the most essential tool for success. Who can you forgive today?Your beliefs aren't as important as your behavior.Your beliefs and values are important to you, but how you act and talk to others about what you believe in is more important than the actual belief. Treat others with kindness and respect no matter how different their views are. Contrast can bring clarity. However, the more you believe in yourself, the less you need others to. You don’t need to lean on others for support. When you have a dream or goal, the most important thing is that you believe in yourself. People are going to tell you it can’t be done, but when you connect with your own dreams, you will be unstoppable.OVERHEAD CAN KILL YOU.Impressive features, like premium office space, high end furniture, expensive pictures on the walls, and a streaming live quote system. All that stuff costs money, and when you start a new business, that’s something that’s in short supply. When you start a business you have to think “shoe string”, and that means finding less expensive ways to do everything. It might even mean doing without a few things. Businesses fail for a lack of positive cash flow more than anything else. The sooner your business starts generating that positive cash flow, the greater your chance of business success. You can give yourself a big, fat advantage by determining from the get go that you won’t spend money on stuff you don’t absolutely need.Continue To Explore New Ideas@Brentfwells Brent Wells. (Fonda, Iowa)I had to go work somewhere else for 5 years before I came back to the farm. Part of it was to make sure I saw what else was out there, and to gain knowledge from other businesses.I learned a great deal about managing people, assets, and cash flow. Sometimes I tell people my story and they make the comment “too bad you wasted all that time getting your MBA just to come back and farm”. I just laugh. It has helped me look at the farm as business and make the right decisions for my operation rather than doing what everyone else is doing. If you don’t keep your mind open to new ideas, your business isn’t going to be able to evolve with the market.  Your business needs to be ahead of the market, and in order to do that, you need to continue to explore new ideas, new concepts, new ways to do businessYour competition is a poor metric for success, because they are who you are competing against.  Copying won’t get you ahead.  The best it can do is tie you for first place, not advance you ahead of who was first place.Success Is Ever Evolving.  Most people want to accomplish more.  MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOME PAYING CUSTOMERS FirstBefore you actually start a business, you might want to test it and treat it more like a side hustle. Test it out with your network. Find out if you actually have something that people are going to pay money for on an ongoing basis.Sometimes not getting what you want is the biggest blessing of all.Austin @auswms. (SW Minnesota)Its helped diversify our risk. It increases the labor needs, but brings added revenue all year.@marioncofarmer A side business is a big help on farming as it helps soften the blow when stuff goes southEverything is part of a larger plan. You quickly learn that rejection is actually protection.Running a business keeps you close to the ground and you get a firsthand feel on what is working and what isn’tNo one cares as much about your business as you do.Think of a business like a baby. Relatives will adore it. Strangers will smile at it. But no one will hover over it, protect it and deeply connect with it like its mother. Yes, owning your own business is like that. Reasons Stopping You From Starting A Podcast

Despite podcasting being widely regarded as an excellent marketing solution to reach new clients and broaden your business exposure, it is not unusual to see professionals postponing their first step in the medium until the entire operation falls through. One excuse after the other. Day 12 of my 31 Day Podcast Challenge, I am going to focus on a potential set of fears preventing businesspeople from exposing themselves through a podcast. Here are some main reasons that are stopping you from starting your podcast. I will become a laughing stock When used as a business tool, a podcast reaches an audience made up of potential customers. None of them have time to lose. Everyone is focused on making the most of the content you are offering rather than finding the next laughing stock. It is weird that many entrepreneurs who are the definition of self-confidence when doing business turn out to be completely terrified of exposing their voice to a wide audience who may comment and, eventually, make fun of it. It has to be perfectPerfectionism is among the main enemies of podcasting. Think about this: podcasting is time-saving. Rather than writing or creating videos, which may respectively call for long drafts or complicated post-production, podcasting can be made in real time. Start recording, speak, stop recording. Job done, time saved. Trying to reach absolute perfection will trick you into a never ending spiral: the more you try to be perfect, the further away you will be from releasing your podcast and seeing it take off. Maybe it's just a waste of timeYou were enthusiastic about the idea but now something is making you feel like “this may be of no use, a waste of time for my business and the listener.” Will it really gather new customers? Will someone really want to listen to it? What about other podcasts that may sound like mine? These are just some of the questions you will ask yourself…based on deeper, unrelated insecurities which are likely to make you call it all off. I don't have the timeLet's be honest, we all have time for the things we want to make time for, no matter how busy we are. Finding the space to podcast requires good time management but you also need to be honest about why you want to do it. Are you really passionate about the idea or does it just sound like a cool thing to do?  If your reason isn't strong enough you'll never find the time to get started. Or if you do you'll find it very difficult to keep going because it takes a lot of time to consistently deliver content and grow an audience. We have this frank discussion with our potential podcast clients from the start. If you really are too busy, set a date in the future you can work towards. Then try and use that time to plan out episodes. I don't have a "radio voice"If you want to build a relationship with your audience it's important to sound like you. Podcast listeners want to feel like you're having a conversation with them, not like you're reading a voice over script. The more natural you can sound, the better. If you've got a ‘unique' voice that also can be an advantage. If you're passionate about your content and can connect with your audience being you, that's how you'll build a listener base. I don't have any presenting experienceWhile it's important to know how to use your voice, if you have a genuine passion for your content and want to share it with your listeners, the rest can be taught. We work with our podcaster clients all the time with this. Passion, expertise, knowledge and a willingness to connect are things you've either got or you don't. But good presenting is something you'll get better at as you spend more time in the studio.  I am bad with technologyTechnically speaking, recording a podcast is pretty easy. Technology has come a long way in a short amount of time.  But the question you really need to ask yourself is do you want to spend the time recording, editing, creating...

You’re trying to not only get used to this new normal but you’re also trying to deal with your body going haywire and not to mention being at university or in a new job is a breeding ground for comparison. In this episode, I’m chatting with the lovely Phoebe - fellow cyster and kiwi, who I had the pleasure of chatting with in person (don’t worry, we recorded this before COVID!) about her journey with PCOS which totally aligns with what I’ve said above.Like me (and I’m sure a lot of you), Phoebe headed off to study and was adjusting to the changes that come along with it but was also dealing with a bunch of horrific PCOS symptoms - with no real answer as to why. She was seeing what everyone else around her was doing (ie. eating plenty of pizza and chocolate and guzzling down RTD’s like water) and yet she seemed to be the only one gaining any weight. In fact, the fresher 5kg was more like the fresher 30kg (in three months) for Phoebe, and she knew that there was more to it given she was exercising regularly, tracking her calories to a tee, eating healthy food and rarely drinking any alcohol. After years of struggling with this stubborn weight gain, dealing with trauma, being put on the Pill and metformin then told there’s not really much else she can do, Phoebe started to learn more about her PCOS and realised that it’s not ‘just the way and the weight she is’. I can not stress this enough - it’s not all down to a lack of self control and calories, there’s so much more to it. So in this episode I speak to Phoebe all about dealing with a change of environment and how that affected her symptoms, dealing with comparison, stubborn weight that won’t budge, weight loss challenges (eeek), chronic dieting and a whole lot more.I know weight loss is such a big thing for so many of you with PCOS, so I hope that you take some awesome nuggets of wisdom from Phoebe’s episode regardless of your age. She makes some fantastic points and I know so many of you will resonate with feeling like absolutely nothing works for you - but trust me, there is, it’s just a matter of understanding YOUR body and finding the best lifestyle changes to match. This episode is for you if:Gaining a lot of weight in a very short amount of timeYou’ve got bad acneNo amount of exercise is shifting the scalesPersonal trainers and health professionals aren’t believing that you’re diligently following all of the rules because you aren’t losing weightYou have brain fogYou get hangry, jittery and shaky really quickly after a mealSome things we cover in this episode:Gaining A LOT of weight in a short period of timeCalorie equation and why it’s not the be all end allLifestyle changes and their effect on PCOSDealing with bad acneChronic dietingWhy you aren’t losing weight when you’re doing a whole lot of exercise and counting your calories - and you’re monitoring it all to a teeWhy you shouldn’t weigh yourselfBinge Eating Disorder (BED)Links to our programs:The PCOS ProtocolEggducated

In a time of uncertainty, it is more important than ever to create multiple streams of income based on our existing knowledge, skills and experience. This podcast will outline my top 3 ways to leverage what we already have in our business or capacity to create passive income from creating long term assets. As I coach and help women to become goddesses in all aspects of their life, finding success and abundance through their work is definitely one of these aspects. Especially during this unprecedented time with COVID 19, I want to offer ways to help you the best navigate this experience and perhaps plants new seeds in generating more income for the future.  Many of my clients and friends are in healthy & wellness industry or service-based businesses so, with the current COVID 19 lockdown and social distancing measures in most countries we know, it greatly affect their business income. Many of them rely on in-person events like markets, trade shows, speaking gigs or face to face appointments. Many of you also like to teach and share your ideas. So this is a great place to start!  Many governments have released financial stimulus packages and subsidies, and they may have savings and assets to pull through this time, but regardless, the current situation leads us to think about how important it is to pivot our business model so that when they are unforeseeable changes, we will have some ways to handle them now or in the futureSo apart from moving your face-to-face appointments online, the following are other options worth considering: Ways to Create Multiple Streams of Income Online Based on your existing content from a workshop or in-person talk you can turn it into a book in multiple formats, for example, digital ebook, print-on-demand, workbook and/or audiobook.  The benefits of self-publishing a book include: Compare to traditional publishing this has very fast turn around timeYou have a high level of creative controlIt creates long term passive income It increases your credibility and it is a respectable product You can sell it both online and offlineyou can use dictation if you are more comfortable to record your words than typing your words. It is also much faster that way. Turn your existing content (your book) into a digital course This has an even quicker turn around time than producing a book This requires more online technical support You will need to update the look and/or content from time to time It has a higher price point if it is a course with video, audio, transcripts or worksheets, etcYou have a lot of flexibility and room for creativity in terms of what is included in the course. You can even have live components such as Q&A or 1-1 follow up sessions as a premium optionIt will work better if you already have a website and online platform already Collaboration with other colleagues and produce an online summit, conference, masterclass/series, support group, mastermind, circles, etc. These collaborations can be live or recordedYou have a lot of flexibility of "What" and "How" and who you want to work withYou don’t have to do all parts, it is about leveraging your community and people you like to work with and learn from each together These events can be evergreen depends on the topics or they can be recurring events  There are more options of course, but it is the mindset about leveraging your own knowledge, skills and experience and diversify the range of product that you can share with others online and offline, more importantly, they can be your long term passive income streams.  Need Some Coaching or Mentoring? If you want to talk about your options or what to bounce ideas with me, or simply want to get some coaching, you can email me for a FREE 30 mins coaching call (for a limited time - especially during the pandemic, I am here to support you!), I am more than happy to work with you!!

We’d be lying to ourselves if we said we’ve never had any issues with sleep. I think that’s a universal thing we can all agree on. There are so many different reasons why we may be getting less sleep. Maybe you have kids (that one’s pretty self explanatory!), a job that requires you to do more work outside the office, maybe it’s shift work - there are a million and one different reasons but they all lead back to one thing - lack of sleep. While sleep doesn’t seem like an obvious area to address in order to manage your PCOS symptoms, it’s actually a pretty major player. Lack of sleep can lead to more than just feeling tired, it can have effects on so many different parts of our bodySo how do we know how much sleep we need? How do we know if the quality of our sleep is up to par? What does it do to our PCOS? What can we do to get a better sleep? Can you have too much sleep?Since we spend about a third of our lives sleeping, having answers to these kinds of questions is even more important. So I’ve created this podcast to break down the research, answer these questions (and more) and give you some actionable steps to take to help mend your sleeping habits! With most countries in some degree of lockdown, we’ve never had a better time to focus on building quality sleep habits - so consider this your condensed guide to the perfect sleep! This episode is for you if:Wake up exhaustedHave trouble getting to sleep or staying asleepYou want to know what effects sleep could be having on the rest of your bodyYou want to improve your sleepYou want to create a better sleep routineYou tend to let work and other commitments eat into your sleep timeYou are insulin resistant, diabetic or pre-diabeticSome things we cover in this episode:Stages of sleepInsulin and sleepLack of sleep and its relation to diseases like diabetes, Alzheimers and cardiovascular diseaseHow bad sleep deprivation and sleep debt actually is for youSleep and metabolismThe 4 pillars of sleepWhat you can do to improve your sleep habitsSleep routinesSleep ApneaIs too much sleep a bad thing? Are wearables useful for tracking your sleep?References and Resources:Associations between sleep duration and sleep debt with insulin sensitivity and insulin secretion in the EGIR-RISC StudyPhysiological Correlates of Prolonged Sleep Deprivation in RatsSleep Deprivation in the Rat: X. Mark is what all motivational speakers aspire to. He is kind, spirited, and animated with a pure and honest heart. When you listen to Mark speak you can’t help but become excited. Mark cares about helping you get to the next level in all areas of life, work, home, mental, physical and emotional.  In this episode, Mark discusses how to use the downtime that we have been given to prioritize the things that really matter so that we can come out of this hard time better than how we went into it. Time: You are always saying “there aren’t enough hours in the day”. We all struggle to find time to do everything we want to get done. For most of us, we now have time we never had before. How can you use this time well? Relationships: If you are stuck in the house with the people you care about most, you can drive each other crazy, or you can use the time to nurture relationships that you may have been neglecting. When else in your life will you have this much time to truly connect in meaningful ways with the most important people in your life? Goal-Time: What if you spent the next several weeks (or months) focussed on accomplishing one specific goal. We can accomplish much more in bursts of focussed time, than we ever could using an hour here and there. What goal could you work on in the next few weeks that would make you a better person after this is over?  Priorities It is very rare that we have an opportunity to take a step-back and evaluate what matters most to us and whether we are living our lives according to our values, but this is just such a time. Take some time our to think about what really matters most to you and whether or not you are happy with where your life is going. Health If you aren’t doing it already, now is THE TIME to prioritize your health. If you never have time to exercise, now you do. If you struggle to get enough sleep, use this time to catch up. If you typically depend on the drive thru and take out, start cooking REAL food. This is great time to make time for your health.   JOIN OUR COMMUNITY on FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/groups/levelupimpact/ MAKE YOURSELF A PRIORITY:Are you ready to take your life to the next level? Real talk….I woke up Monday morning feeling pretty crappy. Drank too much, stayed up too late, had been choosing tv over podcasts and hadn’t honored my morning routine of meditation and movement. And I realized I AM RESPONSIBLE!   What goes in, most come out, so if you don’t like what’s coming out, change what’s going in!   Two days later, I feel freaking great! I dialed up my nutrition, have 3 workouts in 3 days, am going to bed earlier and am spending the evenings on projects that excite me instead of Netflix and Chilling.   My business partner Molly wrote recently - You are rooted where you plant yourself! Growth doesn’t merely happen. You need to sow the seed!! So where are YOU planting yourself to grow?   I hear SO many people say - I’ll invest in my business ONCE I’ve made some money. I’ll put in more time into my side hustle ONCE I see some results. I’ll double down on my eating and fitness once I see my body change.   Time - You’ve got to make the tough choices because anything worthwhile takes TIME!! We can look at the highlight reels and think people are an overnight success but it JUST isn’t so!   Choice - I made the choice to say a lot of no’s, to give me the opportunity to say yes whenever I wanted.    Health - Are you treating your body like  your car? Or Worse?   Body - What if sweat was the reward? Change your expectations!   Business: You won’t make money unless you invest your time and your resources.   Relationships!! You’ll get the support of others when you support them, and yourself!   Inspiration   In whatever area you are ready to move your life forward, just ask yourself, how do you want to be? Then DO the things that the person you want to be would do!   For more info on the host, visit, www.rebeccacafiero.com and follow Rebecca on Instagram @rebeccacafiero ! I am thrilled to have my first repeat guest be one of my best friends, Mikala JVR! I don’t even both trying to say her last name and since she uses the abbreviation, I will, too. Mikala lives here in San Diego so we were able to meet up in person and record in the same room, which is also a first for me. Huge shoutout to my buddy, Norm, who allowed us to use his recording studio and let me feel like I’m a legit podcaster, plus give me the best sound quality I’ve ever had. Today we are having a casual chat about the enneagram, including how we like to type other people (the worst use of the enneagram) and things we hate about certain numbers (also one of the worst ways to integrate the enneagram into your life). This episode is much less structured than most of my conversations - Mikala and I did ZERO prep, aside from agreeing on the topic. It’s fun to change things up every once in a while and come at this from a different angle. If you are new to the enneagram, some of what we say might not make complete sense right away, so head back to this Enneagram Intro episode to understand what we are talking about. You can also check out some of the resources listed below. What happens to a Type 1 when someone answers the phone in the middle of church? On the front row??? Why won’t Type 8’s consider anyone else’s feelings or the impact an action might have? Riddle: How do you get a Type 9 to make a decision? (that’s a joke - they won’t) I could go on, but you should listen and hear the rest of the numbers that annoy us the most. It’s kind of fun to get a little raw and let the conversation fly. The best thing about meditating is that it doesn't require a lot of time. All you need is to set aside 20 minutes per day for this beneficial exercise. Click Here: How To Meditate For Beginners In 3 Minutes Or Less!Use the following steps to set up your own routine for meditating and aim for at least once, if not twice, per day. Select a TimeYou want to choose a time that is convenient for you. During this time period ensure that you will not be disturbed. You need to feel relaxed and your mind should be free of worry. Many people enjoy meditating either as the sun comes up or goes down. If possible you could even meditate outside. A Quiet LocationThis is very important as you don't want to have your spouse or children interrupt you. A quiet room in the house would work or even a secluded spot in your garden. Your PositionYou need to sit comfortably while meditating. While sitting cross-legged, or in the lotus position, is recommended it is not always necessary. You can sit comfortably on a chair and still receive the same benefits. Find out more information on this subject HERE...Meditate Before MealsIf you eat a large meal you often feel tired and lethargic. This is why it is best to meditate before you eat. But, do not try and meditate if you are on the verge of getting really hungry, otherwise, your concentration levels will be disrupted. Warm UpAs with any type of exercise you want to warm up, even if you are just going to be sitting down. This helps to get your blood flowing to all areas of your body and your brain. Plus it helps to make you feel more alert and ready to meditate. SmileJust the act of smiling can help you feel more relaxed and comfortable. Remember you are going to learn how to relax and allow your mind to wander. Feeling happier is one easy way to make this happen. Your EyesDuring the meditation process, you will be sitting or standing with your eyes closed. When your 20 minutes are up, you don't want to rush to open your eyes. Instead, give yourself plenty of time to become aware of your surroundings. In the same way, you don't want to jump up and run for the phone! Allow your body to return to its conscious state again. By following these simple steps, you can easily reap more benefits from your meditation sessions. Remember, the more often you meditate, the easier the entire process will be for you.Find out more information on how to meditate more effectively HERE...Support the show (https://www.buzzsprout.com/?referrer_id=206617)

This week on WPblab we'll be discussing how to market your WordPress niche with Twitter Chats. It should be a fun episode learning how to interact with a twitter chat and how to run one yourself using your own hashtag.Twitter Chats – using hashtags: (#) + ‘keyword’ to filter/track related posts on a specific topicBack in the 90’s AOL had chatrooms with names where you could talk to people about a common topic. Anyone was welcome and it was public. Twitter chats are the modern day version of that.Hashtags help you to filter and search twitter – Twitter chats are “LIVE” versions of that search where people are commenting and participating in real-timeYou can register your chat on twubs.com but NO ONE can own a hashtag (since anyone can type and use them). It’s important for your hashtag to be unique. If you see a hashtag that was once used but is no longer, you can always ask the original parties who used it if it’s available, but better to select something no one is already using.Twitter chats can take 3-4 hours a week to manage. If you are starting one from scratch, ask some friends to join you when you launch! You’ll need 6-10 questions – extra brownie points if you post them in advance to blog/social media for people to see and plan ahead!Try to set a specific time for your chat every week & hold them regularly so people always know when to tune in – don’t forget that people need to be reminded, tooAlso, do a recap / summary post after the chat for people who missed out.You want to pick good questions that will produce good answers to help further the conversation! It’s like reverse engineering a blog post. Know what answers/discussions you are looking to have and work backwards to develop the questions that will get you there.Consider adding a category to your blog for the twitter chats to keep an archive of the recapsIf you get stuck looking for a topic, ask your audience and give them credit for the ideaBe committed – it can take up to a year to develop a solid chatA twitter chat is a lot like a talk show except everyone gets to answer at the same time – you need to keep things organized or a busy chat can easily get out of control. Use a format like Q1) … Q2)… and encourage your participants to use A1)…. A2) for their answers. Try to discourage hitting ‘reply’.Twitter Chat tools==================Twubs.comexample: http://twubs.com/NPChatTweetchat.comexample: http://tweetchat.com/room/npchatTchat.ioexample: http://www.tchat.io/rooms/npchatTweetReach.com – get stats on last 100 tweetsWhen you attend a twitter chat and interact, you know you’re chatting with real people, not bots – you will usually pick up followers and not just random followers, but quality onesMake a Twitter List based on your chats to help track people who are participating. Then you can engage with them during the week when the chat is not happening. The main purpose (from a strategic viewpoint) of attending or running a twitter chat is to establish yourself as a leader or expert in that nicheDon’t be afraid to ask higher profile twitter users or users with a lot of influence who are related to your topic to join you in hosting one of your chats!Oembed -allows you to embed tweets on your blog and/or websiteFavorite your own tweets – it’s “bookmarking”! Then when people answer your questions, heart all of them. As soon as chat ends, take another 30-60 mins to go back to your profile “likes” and work backwards to find the answers to the questions. Right-click and select “copy link” and then unfavorite and then go to the next. Pick the 3-5 best answers!Project on GitHub called ‘T’ sferik – twitter client for terminal: https://github.com/sferik/tIf you do host a chat, it’s highly recommended to add that information to your Twitter bio – when people click the hashtag, it will suggest people for them to followPromoting:use the right social network to promote – think of your audience.Best promotion is blog post. In your blog, try to include a feature/plugin that allows them to add the chat to their calendar.Post about it in relevant groups, but ONLY if you are a giver / active participant. A little bit of generosity goes a long way.Find out what your ‘niche’ is – what is that you do that makes you special! What is that you love, what kind of clients do you take on the most? Is there a theme or a pattern to how you spend your time or who you work with? Are there things that you are really good at?Look at your twitter analytics – what do your followers / friends have in common? Is your account the right account to run this specific chat on? Make sure if you are going to run a chat – make sure it’s line with you, your areas of expertise, and your audience.Repurpose content – look back at your old blog posts_________________________________________Thanks for helping with our show notes!Cheryl LaPrade @yaycherylSherie LaPrade @heysherieJames Tryon @jamestryonThe post WPBlab EP75 – Marketing Your WordPress Niche with Twitter Chats appeared first on WPwatercooler. I have conceived of time in such a way that I defeat my aim. If I elect to reach past time to timelessness, I must change my perception of what time is for. Timeâ??s purpose cannot be to keep the past and future one.The only interval in which I can be saved from time is now. Why Evergreen Content is the Best Investment of Time for a Blogger "If you could only write one type of content on your blogs - what would it be?" I was asked this question while on a Q&A panel back in 2007 while at a conference in Las Vegas. It’s a question that I go back to again and again, and the answer hasn’t changed a bit. I also think writing this type of content is why I have had success over the last 13 years. One of the most important things I’ve done in my blogging has been to focus on writing one particular form of content above all others - that being evergreen content. Evergreen content is content that stays fresh for your readers. It’s as relevant years after being written as it was the day it was written. Financial Freedom Report

If you’ve been listening to Jason Hartman for long, you’ve probably heard him say that he’s not an optimist, but an opportunist. Time, Mother Nature, and Government operate largely independently of us as individuals, so rather than lament the destruction that each of them can cause, we recommend finding ways to make them work in your favor. Time You’ve probably noticed that most people have too much life left at the end of their money, and not the other way around. People are living longer and healthier, which means more money is required. As an investor, longevity can really work in your favor. As we continue to live longer, the government prints more money to sustain us. This causes inflation-induced debt destruction. Essentially, the value of our debts are destroyed—increasing the value of commodities (which make up our income properties). Times, they are a’changin—in your favor! Mother Nature Natural disasters continue to happen and create chaos and catastrophe. They displace people, destroy businesses, and create a feeling of uncertainty for everyone. But even large scale disasters can provide a fresh start. Old homes that are potentially dangerous are replaced by newer, more stable properties. Developers find areas recently affected by natural disasters and pay high prices for pieces of land adjacent to one another, build fancy homes, make a decent profit. Those who suffer the consequences of Mother Nature sometimes profit from their insurance claims, and those who supply commodities make money in rebuilding efforts. Mother Nature causes upward pressure on the commodities that make up your investments.   Government While you may or may not agree with the way the government spends money, it is important to understand that it just might be good to you as an investor. What you might identify as being bad for the country is good for you—so embrace the positive. Government spending creates inflation—and that is great for investors!
