For this episode, Danny Hurst is joined by comedian, writer and broadcaster, Susan Murray She won the 1st Jongleurs New Act award and has been wowing audiences since the mid-90s. Susan has written for and appeared on many radio shows including Jeremy Hardy Talks to the Nation and Stephen K. Amos´ Life: An Idiot´s Guide and is one of the Huffington Post´s funniest women tweeters and stalwart of the British comedy circuit and the Edinburgh Fringe and has performed across the world. Susan and Danny discuss the UK comedy revolution that happened in the 80s/90s, including The Comic Strip and The Young Ones. Susan shares some great stories and trivia about some of the UK`s biggest comedians. If you can´t get enough of these podcasts, head to https://www.patreon.com/DannyHurst to access my exclusive, member-only, fun-filled and fact-packed history-related videos. KEY TAKEAWAYS Susan Murray runs the Red Imp comedy club in Walthamstow. Working on Spitting Image and one of the UK´s first adult animation shows was her path into comedy. Susan is the person behind the current comedian’s Christmas party. Held in January because everyone is working at Xmas. 95% of comics get their gigs from the Facebook page Susan started. It's still quite hard being a woman in comedy, but things are improving. Some rooms are terrible for comedy. Gigs in low ceiling rooms are easier, but ones with mirrors or round tables are hell. You can´t second guess a room, some of the gigs Susan thought would be dreadful e.g. A room full of stag parties were great. When Susan makes bread it always looks like John Merrick´s head. Comedians who do the Edinburgh Fringe end up losing money. BEST MOMENTS “I'm Scottish, manufactured, Black Country raised.” “Then The Young Ones burst on the screen, and it literally blew my mind.” “Barry Cryer was an anecdote machine.” “Gigs are a bit nicer than they used to be.” “Why would you heckle a deaf comic?” “I had people ringing me up going, can you never stop baking your s**t bread.” “You get to be really rude to people in the audience, they love it, and then you get paid for it…. What more could you want from life?” “Comedy is a delicate flower you can´t shove it anywhere and expect it to thrive.” EPISODE RESOURCES http://susan-murray.co.uk/up-coming-gigs http://www.redimpcomedy.com Find a gig FB page - https://www.facebook.com/groups/284118201700872 HOST BIO Historian, performer, and mentor Danny Hurst has been engaging audiences for many years, whether as a lecturer, stand-up comic or intervention teacher with young offenders and excluded secondary students. Ben Elton’s multi-award-winning career spans over four decades and includes seminal and groundbreaking television shows (The Young Ones, Blackadder, Upstart Crow), West End plays (Popcorn, Upstart Crow), West End musicals (We Will Rock You, The Beautiful Game, Close up: The Twiggy Musical), best-selling novels (Stark, Dead Famous, Two Brothers) and feature films (Maybe Baby, Three Summers, All is True). In October last year, Ben returned to Channel 4 for a one-off revival of Friday Night Live to rave reviews. The reincarnation of the original smash-hit Saturday Night Live was critically acclaimed and Ben won the BAFTA for Comedy Entertainment Programme 2023. Ben Elton's career began in Britain's alternative comedy scene in the 1980s - and over the last 44 years, he's since built a name for himself. He's become a recognisable name in the world of stand-up comedy and he's also written many notable works, including The Young Ones and Blackadder. He also created musicals We Will Rock You and The Beautiful Game with Andrew Lloyd Webber. Ahead of his Authentic Stupidity tour coming to New Zealand, he explained why he felt compelled to return to stand-up comedy "Stand-up is the only area of my work as a comic artist which is entirely subjective. The new youth phrase is 'to stand in your truth'...and I'm standing in my truth." LISTEN ABOVE OR WATCH BELOW See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode, Danny Hurst is joined by Ronnie Golden, aka Tony De Meur, of the post-punk pub rock band The Fabulous Poodles. They had several hits and appeared regularly on TV and radio. The Fabulous Poodles supported many bands including The Ramones and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Later, Ronnie transitioned into stand-up, comedy, acting and song-writing. He worked with Rik Mayall, Adrian Edmondson, Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders and was in The Young Ones, The Fourth Protocol and more. Later, he collaborated with comedy legends such as Arthur Smith, Rich Hall and, until his death, Barry Cryer, with whom he performed regularly as a double-act. Ronnie shares some fascinating stories about his career, the people he has worked with and his influences. He also explains how he learned maths through music and how the Comedy Store and The Comic Strip Presents… changed British comedy. If you can´t get enough of these podcasts, head to https://www.patreon.com/DannyHurst to access my exclusive, member-only, fun-filled and fact-packed history-related videos. KEY TAKEAWAYS Despite writing a lot of music Ronnie, like many other musicians, cannot read music. Ronnie learned maths through music, he explains how during the episode. Never turn down the chance to do something new. Repeatedly, Ronnie took on projects despite not having 100% of the skills required. He simply learned what he needed to know. All performers have bad days, including Bob Dylan. Ronnie shares what it was like to see Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mac, John Lee Hooker, Jimi Hendrix and more perform in small London venues. A lot of the comedy of the 80s came out of people being sick of the Tories. In the 60s, going up west and to Denmark Street was a buzz. Today, London has become so corporate that it has lost much of its character. BEST MOMENTS “From doing comedy songs, I developed repartee, and it became a mix of stand-up and music.” “I recognised the mathematics in music, and I connected with it. 12 bar blues and that kind of stuff.” “I bought myself a harmonica, and I didn't take it out of my mouth for about a week until I learned it.” “You´ve got to trust yourself.” “That´s the way Dylan works – he likes to surprise himself.” “In the 60s, it was a complete buzz.” “I see less of places that I used to love going to and everything’s changed.” EPISODE RESOURCES https://x.com/ronniegolden1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronnie_Golden HOST BIO Historian, performer, and mentor Danny Hurst has been engaging audiences for many years, whether as a lecturer, stand-up comic or intervention teacher with young offenders and excluded secondary students. An excerpt from Aesop's Fables.
Ben Elton burst onto the British alternative comedy scene in the '80s. He went on to co-write The Young Ones and Blackadder, with Richard Curtis. He's coming back to NZ with new show, Authentic Stupidity.
Today we have a Hauraki Breakfast Podcast Special! An extra little episode, where we catch up with the one, the only, Ben Elton. Ben is a British comedian, writer, and director, famous for his sharp satire and contributions to comedy, television, and literature. He co-wrote iconic British sitcoms like Blackadder and The Young Ones, and he also wrote The Thin Blue Line, starring Rowan Atkinson... And now he's bringing a show to New Zealand!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Ben Elton is a staple of the comedy scene. He's known as a pioneer for British comedy and the Godfather of Standup, though it's his work on Blackadder and The Young Ones that he's most well known for. Elton's been in the industry for four decades, last visiting New Zealand's shores back in 2021 for his Ben Elton Live Tour. The comedian is winging his way back this year, bringing his Authentic Stupidity Tour to Kiwi audiences, exploring the emergence of AI and the “idiocy” of the human race. Elton told Mike Hosking that much of what he performs on stage is unpacking his bewilderment with the changes the new generations bring. “I don't really feel much different than how I ever did,” he said. “We all feel 21 inside, our characters are largely formed by the time we're in our twenties, and that's who we remain. Meanwhile, the world passes on.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Another comedian compilation as we hear from stand-ups Jo Caulfield and Richard Herring and comedic actor, audiobook narrator and Neil from The Young Ones, Nigel Planer. Plus we find some brand new books in the RNIB Library

ADAM HENLEY talks about his TV history and THE WEST WING First broadcast on FAB RADIO INTERNATIONAL at 19:00 on February 2nd 2025. This week we welcome a new voice to VISION ON SOUND, that of ADAM HENLEY, an archive television fan who I first met when he offered to help out with some of my technical support when I was recording our live show on stage at WHOOVERVILLE in Derby last September. He expressed an interest in taking part, and suggested we might talk about THE WEST WING for the show. However, because he hadn't been on the show before, I also wanted to talk a little bit about his own life as a fan of television, so, whilst we do get to THE WEST WING in the end, it's on a journey that takes via LOGOPOLIS, the PYE TUBE CUBE. THE YOUNG ONES, EASTENDERS, BLACKADDER GOES FORTH, THE TIME MACHINE, and the films of POWELL AND PRESSBURGER to finally reach the Oval Office, which is certainly a very different route to the one taken by the current incumbent, and I hope that you'll stick with us for the full term of this edition of the show, which is, luckily enough, only going to take up an hour of your time. PLEASE NOTE - For Copyright reasons, musical content sometimes has to be removed for the podcast edition. All the spoken word content remains (mostly) as it was in the broadcast version. Hopefully this won't spoil your enjoyment of the show.

Although it would be more thematically appropriate of us to NOT tell you about this week's episode, we are going to be rebellious and do it anyway—sans mohawk and safety pins. Andrew joins Ben this week to ruminate over the work punk. After discussing what they have been up to, debating the importance of a thesis statement (or lack thereof), and sharing their experiences with the game they have both (YES BOTH) been playing, Dungeon Clawler by Stray Fawn Studio, they embark upon a sensory adventure together… in STEREO! Following the traditional definition festivities, they explore their thoughts and feelings associated with the word. Finally, Ben talks about Suda51—recognized by many as one of the most “punk rock” game developers out there in addition to being author responsible for a favorite gaming narrative of his. *** 00:00:00 - Andrew's Crowdfundr ADHD pin promo and the obligatory 2VP theme song Please contribute to Andrew's latest Crowdfundr campaign and buy a swanky “Advanced Dungeons Have Dragons” ADHD enamel pin! https://crowdfundr.com/dragonpin?ref=ab_5eGT0FGiaC55eGT0FGiaC5 00:02:03 - Book progress, a 25 percent different demon, veggies, and many presidents ago 00:04:37 - Ben breaks kayfabe, the Piper Cafe, the Safehouse, price tags, and trading cards 00:06:37 - Verified on Bluesky, Andrew's 2025 call, allies for decades, and Bash the alarm clock 00:09:25 - Thoughts on the thesis, eating children, Substack review handling, and epic poems 00:14:24 - The Hunt for Red October, embargo date debate, and Uncle Chop's Rocket Shop 00:17:23 - Looking at manuals, divergent vs. diverse, symptoms of life, and rewiring the brain 00:21:01 - Autistic trends, a mom's introduction to Rick and Morty, and a claw machine thesis 00:24:22 - Christopher Nolan, Dungeon Clawler impressions, and Andrew describes the game 00:27:45 - Ben wants more stuff, Count Clawcula, thumbs up, and speaking of potato snacks 00:29:35 - In stereo, lining them up in post, the bouquet, the mouth feel, and a mystery flavor 00:31:53 - Aged in wooden tubes, the proof with vinegar, maltodextrin, and the aging problem 00:34:44 - Ben's bourbon belch, she smelled like soup, the comma, and ten points in Scrabble 00:37:40 - The derogatory definition, Ben's Allen Funt impression, and the skipped definition 00:40:01 - Punk sticks, anarchy, being adjacent, punk credit, and getting out what you put in 00:43:03 - The Bumblebee Tuna theme in Ska, the energy, and questionable stuff in Tucson 00:45:00 - Going to the Meet Rack, the condom machine, lubricated regulars, and river rafting 00:47:24 - Not inherently political, Andrew's Portland punk experiences, and The Young Ones 00:50:00 - The Seattle WTO Protests, moving into retail, against the grain, and hybrid formats 00:53:44 - Not Punky Brewster, punk as a suffix, Daft Punk origin, and Max Headroom shows 00:57:02 - The Video Toaster, actor Matt Frewer, platinums, and Ben sells 100 million albums 00:58:40 - Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, not Sudafed, and the games of Suda51 01:01:23 - Punk Rock sub-genres, Franz Kafka game gets canceled, and Garcia is a Mexi-CAN 01:04:37 - Something that happens, expired donuts, mistook it for a Cybertruck, and food love 01:07:30 - So romantic, Michigan, final thoughts, Joe saved the podcast, and formica dragons *** Follow Andrew / Partly Robot Industries on… His website: https://partlyrobot.com/ On Instagram: https://instagram.com/partlyrobot On TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@partlyrobot On Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/partlyrobot.com On Ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/partlyrobot And his TREE o' LINKS: http://linktr.ee/partlyrobot Follow Two Vague on… Our website: https://www.twovaguepodcast.com On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/two_vague_podcast On YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@twovaguepodcast On Substack: https://substack.com/@twovaguepodcast On Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/twovaguepodcast.com For show appearance and other inquiries, contact us at: twovaguepodcast@gmail.com -AND- …for all of your PRI and 2VP merch check out the Partly Robot Industries store at TEEPUBLIC! https://www.teepublic.com/user/partly-robot-industries *** References, Links, and Tags For more information about Stray Fawn Studio's game Dungeon Clawler… https://strayfawnstudio.com/ https://dungeonclawler.com/ For more information about Uncle Chops Rocket Shop, developer Beard Envy Games, and publisher Kasedo Games… https://www.unclechops.com/ https://www.beardenvy.co.uk/ https://www.kasedogames.com/ Check out Ben's review of SlavicPunk: Oldtimer on the Two Vague Podcast Substack… https://substack.com/home/post/p-154373300 Check out Red Square Games and SlavicPunk: Oldtimer on Steam… https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44288282-Red-Square-Games/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/1820140/SlavicPunk_Oldtimer/ Check out SUDA51 / Grasshopper Manufacture's games https://www.grasshopper.co.jp/en/ https://www.shadows-of-the-damned-hellaremastered.com/ #Podbean #DIYPodcast #ApplePodcast #VideoGames #Trivia #Comedy #Talkshow #2VP #TwoVaguePodcast #PodernFamily #InterviewShow #GamersofThreads #Gamer #PartlyRobot #PartlyRobotIndustries #TeePublic #StrayFawnStudio #DungeonClawler #BeardEnvyGames #UncleChopsRocketShop #KasedoGames #GrasshopperManufacture #ShadowsoftheDamnedHellaRemastered #Suda51

We discuss various topics, including: What are the characteristics of a cult show? Should there be a new Dark Shadows if the tone is changed? Should a new DS be a remake or a continuation? This week on the pod we're diving into the archives and revisiting a classic episode. Rob is joined by comedian, actor and resident QI panellist, Alan Davies, to chat about a variety of topics including the 1970s US cop show Starsky and Hutch, Coronation Street's Vera Duckworth, and how he's starting to write a novel. The ‘Jonathan Creek' star also discusses a particularly difficult stand-up experience, and how his comedy was inspired by the alternative 80s sitcom, ‘The Young Ones'.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Terence Blacker, the editor of 'Bachelor Boys: The Young Ones Book' and co-author of 'Neil's Book of the Dead' shares the story of how those books were created, plus his own experiences as an author and latterly a singer-songwriter! Here's a link to Terence on X (Twitter) and a link to his website. It's a good old natter about how it was working with Nigel Planer and writing in Neil's voice, plus getting reams of wild stuff from a prolific Ben Elton (and advice on how to handle it from Rik and Lise). Oh, and have a link to Terence's YouTube channel!
England build up a huge lead over New Zealand in the second Test thanks to a hattrick from Gus Atkinson (in his 10th Test) and some precocious batting from Jacob Bethell (in his second) ably assisted by Ben Duckett and Joe Root (in his 151st.) This is an extended version of a programme first broadcast on Sunday 17 September 2023.Adrian Edmondson first shot to national fame in 1982, playing the studded punk Vyvyan in the TV sitcom The Young Ones, set in a seedy student flat. The cast largely came from the developing alternative comedy scene, and included Rik Mayall and Alexei Sayle. Adrian was born in Bradford in 1957. He spent time as a child in Cyprus, Bahrain and Uganda, following his father who worked as a teacher for the armed forces. He attended a boarding school in Yorkshire from the age of 11, where he often rebelled against its rules and restrictions, but enjoyed performing in school plays. He headed to Manchester University to study drama, where he soon met Rik Mayall. They bonded over their shared interests in comedy, double acts, violent slapstick and the plays of Samuel Beckett. It was the start of a long performing partnership and friendship, which included the anarchic TV comedy and long-running touring show Bottom and a production of Beckett's Waiting for Godot on the West End stage.Adrian has also worked widely as an actor and musician, including an acclaimed appearance as Scrooge for the RSC, and performances with the reunited Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. Adrian married Jennifer Saunders in 1985, and they have three daughters.DISC ONE: Downtown - Petula Clark DISC TWO: A Song of the Weather - Flanders & Swann DISC THREE: Sugar, Sugar - The Archies DISC FOUR: On My Radio - The Selecter DISC FIVE: Jole Blon - Vin Bruce DISC SIX: Saturday Gigs - Mott the Hoople DISC SEVEN: I'm Bored - Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band DISC EIGHT: Wide Open Spaces - The Chicks (formerly The Dixie Chicks)BOOK CHOICE: Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett LUXURY ITEM: A tab of acid CASTAWAY'S FAVOURITE: Wide Open Spaces - The Chicks Presenter Lauren Laverne Producer Sarah Taylor

In this episode we strap on the mutton chops like biker Jesus pumped full of amphetamines and look straight up to the heavens with the voice of a demon for a warts ‘n all take on one of the most influential bands of the last fifty years. If you're not familiar with Motörhead, they are best known for the song, Ace of Spades and I have described them in the past as what it would sound like if Chuck Berry was hit by an out of control freight train driven by drunken pirates. While there have been many members over the years, and some were more important than others, there's only really one bloke who matters in the Motörhead story, Lemmy Kilmister.Lemmy wasn't a satanic metal head. But he was certainly anti-religion with songs like, [Don't Need] Religion, Bad Religion and God Was Never on Your Side. This episode also features cameo guest star appearances from Joseph of Nazareth, Ian Kilmister, Santa Claus, Wales, The Beatles, The Cavern Club, Liverpool, Europe, The Kinks, The Rockin Vicars, Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Sam Gopal, Escalator, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Pink Floyd, The Birds, Hawkwind, Silver Machine, Canada, Bastard, Top of the Pops, BBC, United Artists, On Parole, Phil ‘Philthy Animal' Taylor, ‘Fast' Eddie Clarke, NME, Ted Carroll, Chiswick Records, Mike Tyson, Snaggletooth, the War-Pig, Joe Petagno, Napoleon, Bronze Records, Austin Healy, No Sleep ‘till Hammersmith, Stand By Your Man, Plasmatics, Wendy O. Mark also chats with Jeffers about plenty of Rik stuff, the process of writing the book, and it all becomes suitably Catflappian! Follow Mark on X @Mark_Searby

We're going where the sun shines brightly,We're going where the sea is blue…1986 really was very Cliff. He had celebrated his first No1 of the 80s with the cast of The Young Ones, featured in some devastating billboard action in the (rerun) finale of the aforementioned BBC comedy show, been covered by the TVam rat and gerbil, and even had one of his most famous songs feature on a rather unique (and quite frankly ghastly) novelty Euro hit. And in July of the very same year, this very prominent track (it's Summer Holiday folks!), Cliff's ubiquitous seasonal anthem to double decker buses and Una Stubbs, was sitting proudly as track 1 side 2 on the latest NOW, That's What I Call Music album. But wait! The gloriously designed blue sky and beach umbrella that housed the latest variously compiled pop selection was not to feature such 1986 chart toppers as Wham!, Dr and the Medics and Chris De Burgh(!). This wasn't the impending 7th volume of the (rapidly becoming) world famous series of compilations, this was NOW - The Summer Album, and it was…well, different.Just as the wonderful team had done in November 1985 with NOW - The Christmas Album, here was the brand's second venture into a ‘theme'. And what a theme it was! Four decades of summer anthems, summer hits, sizzling memories - phew what a scorcher! But as it transpires, with guest Tim Worthington, we discover that the album announced from the pages of Smash Hits in July 1986 (featuring the most summery of acts, The Jesus and Mary Chain!) was much more than that just sun loungers and factor 30. Because growing up in the 70s/80s in the UK summer was often quite different indeed! What NOW - The Summer Album perhaps did do, was provide a template of summers we all wished we'd known; a sixties summer of love, a fifties summer of rock n roll, a seventies summer of…cricket (?) and of course an eighties summer of Radio One roadshows, and quite probably, traffic jams.It was an album that also provided a range of genres, new bands from the past to discover and a template for all summer soundtracks to come. So, dive back into an iconic chapter in the NOW series. Find out how some VERY big pop names appeared (TWICE!), why sound effects always make summer songs better, how some songs were longer (and shorter!) than others and why John Menzies probably didn't anticipate how well this summer set would sell. And importantly, remember your Plymouth dealer is, indeed, a dealing man. British comedy veteran of ‘The Young Ones' and ‘Bottom' fame Adrian Edmondson sits down with Andrew Mueller to talk about his memoir ‘Berserker!', his often violent skits with late collaborator Rik Mayall and using humour to deal with trauma.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Our guest today is a writer and actress who broke the mould as a stand up comedian in the first wave of Alternative comedy. Helen Lederer has appeared in some of the finest UK comedy shows over the last 40 years including Bottom, Absolutely Fabulous, Naked Video, French and Saunders, Girls On Top, The Young Ones and many, many more. She did stand up at a time when female comedians were few and far between and brightened up every single show she appeared in for decades. Helens new autobiography 'Not that I'm bitter' is a hilarious trip through accidents, apologies and awkward situations which never flinches and always brings a smile to your face. It is a real delight that we can welcome the brilliant Helen Lederer to 'What Goes Around'.First off however we celebrate Pride month and take a journey into the world of Gay clubbing, we talk to Sy from The Phoenix about organising Bristol's Pride events and running an inclusive and friendly safe space for all in his pub. We also speak to Chris the resident DJ at 'Don't Tell Your Mother' one of Bristol's longest running Gay nights about community and longevity. To round things off we speak to the 'Girl on Girl' collective about their incredible lesbian events which break the musical mould by offering futuristic club music from around the world in a safe and creative space. Before all that Deb gets her tidy on and imposes order on some oddly shaped pieces of cardboard while Eamon looks on in awe.It is a bumper episode to celebrate Pride month and because of the issues that it raises we would like to invite you to show support for the LGBTQ+ community by donating to our selected charities - The Albert Kennedy Trust (which helps LGBTQ+ people who have been made homeless) and Young Minds (who offer support and practical help for young people dealing with their mental health). We never ask for money for these shows but just for once we would appreciate any help you can give to these very important charities. My guest today is the writer, actress and comedian Helen Lederer. Helen began as a stand-up comedian in the “comedy swamp” of the 1980s, where women were like hen's teeth and rose to fame with her sloaney girl at the bar in the BBC Comedy ‘Naked video'. Then came Saturday Night Live, The Young Ones, French and Saunders and Bottom with Rik Mayall. But she's probably best known as Catriona the dippy journalist in the TV series Absolutely Fabulous. It was after writing her first novel, Losing It, that Helen set up the Comedy Women In Print prize to put funny women's writing on the map and help ensure the next generation wouldn't have to put up with the lack of recognition she endured. (Also, she was pissed off!)Now the woman Dawn French calls “the third funniest woman in the world” has written a hilarious and frequently painful memoir about surviving that swamp, Not That I'm Bitter. She tells truths, she names names and she gives herself an absolute hiding!Helen and I got together over a Zoom cuppa to discuss life as the lone woman on the 80s comedy circuit and why being a pioneer is all very well, but she'd rather have had mainstream success! She also talked about professional jealousy, not “being in the A team”, fear of authority, why she's spent her life on a diet (remember Limmits biscuits?!) And being tougher on herself than anyone else.* You can buy all the books mentioned in this podcast at The Shift bookshop on Bookshop.org, including Not That I'm Bitter by Helen Lederer and the book that inspired this podcast, The Shift: how I lost and found myself after 40 - and you can too, by me.* If you enjoyed this episode and you fancy buying me a coffee, pop over to my page on buymeacoffee.com• And if you'd like to support the work that goes into making this podcast and get a weekly newsletter plus loads more content including exclusive transcripts of the podcast, why not join The Shift community, come and have a look around at www.theshiftwithsambaker.substack.com• The Shift (on life after 40) with Sam Baker is created and hosted by Sam Baker and edited by Juliette Nicholls @ Pineapple Audio Production. RETRO RHLSTP #84 - Gulping Robot Toilets - Richard is hoping he will find his way into the Guinness Book of Records, but Norris Macwhirter is not answering his calls. His guest is making a return visit to RHLSTP after 7 and a half years (but will his hair reveal his success?) - it's the amazing Charlie Brooker. The conversation is predictably dark and disgusting incorporating Charlie's fury at a seven year old who makes an amazing living opening boxes, trying to introduce his kids to the Young Ones, what the best pinball machine is, whether having sex with your best friend via computer game is cheating, the complexity of writing a choose your own adventure TV show, being born with an umbilical cord around your neck and how you can kill sperm with urine. Plus the inevitability of nuclear war and whether all people over 45 need to die to save the world. It's good.Come and see the new show on tour - https://richardherring.com/ballback/tourSUPPORT THE SHOW!Check out our website http://rhlstp.co.ukSee details of the RHLSTP tour dates http://richardherring.com/gigsBuy DVDs and Books at http://gofasterstripe.com Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/rhlstp.
