There was just too much here that we couldn't miss out on. In this episode, Morgan and I recall, day by day, our experience in this region. We talk about hiking waterfalls, cold water submersion in the São Francisco River, tasting the world's best cheese (and coffee), and driving some treacherous dirt roads! Welcome to the 20th episode special! Be sure watch the video as well, because this is Part 4 of our Brazil road trip! I wanted to do something different with this episode! https://youtu.be/UxWBoCeVsNw On our way to Rio, Jorge began talking about the history of Brazil's favelas and I had the idea for this video. The content here is heavy, I know, but I am extremely happy how this project came out. It feels raw. I didn't want to shy away from the realities that many of the people in Rio face daily and gloss over it with a "typical" tourist video that only showcases the beaches, nightlife, and beautiful landscapes. It's hard to do because this city is truly beautiful. We had nothing but an incredible experience! We had no issues, nor did we ever feel in danger. I can't even begin to try to understand the situations that Jorge discuses in this video. I hope that you can go into this video with an open mind, learn, but most importantly take the opportunity to experience Rio de Janeiro for yourself in the future! Rio de Janeiro is crazy, beautiful, and hypocrisy. I have nothing but love for Brazil and the people of Rio! Also, I apologize for the lack of videos. Going forward for the rest of this series I will have a consistent upload schedule. The Traveling Wellburys Blog! https://travelingwellburys.com/ It's been roughly 6 months since we left our jobs to start traveling the world. It is crazy how fast time flies! It seems like we have done so much, but at the same time it feels like there is so much more to explore. I wanted to record a conversation with Morgan to explain our thoughts thus far on this journey. In this hour, we dive into a number of topics that include: Morgan's blog, ask why airlines have such terrible customer service, give our perspective on traveling with some (hopefully) helpful tips, our Brazil road trip plan, have a Sapiens book review, and discuss being disconnected to the news cycle. Josh is one of my oldest friends. We went to pre-school together, cheated off of each other's tests in high-school, learned new skills at trade school, then partied together through college, and now we continue to stay in touch over a few beers every year. Josh majored in Business and Supply Chain Management at Bowling Green State University. Following college graduation, he followed his roots back home, and is in the process of remodeling a house in his hometown of New Riegel with his wife, Heather, and 2 year old son, Merrick. He works with people across the world in the supply-chain and raw material purchasing for Goodyear Tire. Josh is just an all around awesome guy, and I was very excited for this conversation. It's true. I left my six figure job to travel the world with my Fiancé, Morgan. By the time this podcast is released, I have made my way to Curitiba, Brazil... Hopefully! In this episode we have some fun where Caitlynn Dubie and Amy Bernardy take over the podcast-host chairs, and turn the tables to interview me prior to this next chapter of my life. Enjoy! - Jake "Jacob is a Civil Engineer, currently living where he was born and raised, in the village of New Riegel, Ohio. But he has recently quit his job to explore new horizons with his Fiancé Morgan; as they embark on a journey to Brazil. He has been described by friends and co-workers as a natural conversationalist, a curious entrepreneur, and a former power-hour enthusiast. Anyone who meets him would describe him, not only, as a deep-thinker, but also a doer. He sticks to his commitments and takes pride in his word. We all know and love him as the host of Paper Mountains Podcast but today we are flipping the script as we will be asking him the questions this time! Albri Jones. What can I say? This is going to be something completely new for me because I don't know you on a personal level, really at all. Nor do you have a lot of background information out on the internet. So here we go. I do know that Albri is a genuinely kind person who has a lot to say. He is from Fostoria, Ohio and is a lead teacher at Angie's child development. He is 36 years old and on the path that all of us are on, searching for fulfillment, meaning, and happiness. Vincenzo is true to the core American-Italian from Metro Detroit. He is a civil engineer who graduated from Michigan State University with a stellar 3.51 GPA. He allegedly lives in Findlay, Ohio but is very rarely ever seen there because his heart is in Michigan. Austin majored in civil engineering at Valparaiso University where he became an all American college football star and heartthrob to women everywhere. He has his PE license, loves taking his boat out on the lake, and is slated to get married to his wonderful fiancé Anna in a couple months from now. I have tremendous respect for Austin. Morgan Nye and Alysha Nye are first cousins, and have been best friends for as long as anyone can remember. They have had abnormally similar lives thus far. In this conversation, we dive into the history of their friendship, what it was like growing up together, and how chaotic it is with being a school teacher in 2021. With the series of unfortunate events that occurred in 2020 that turned the world upside down, these both have made the most of the situation, grown as individuals, and strive to only look for the positives in every given circumstance. Please welcome, Morgan and Alysha Nye. Today, I am having a conversation with Caitlynn Dubie. She is originally from the rugged terrain of Alaska, has traveled across the United states, majored in mechanical engineering at michigan state university, and for some reason, has decided to live in Ohio at this time of her life. Though this decision is questionable, I appreciate it, as it has given me the opportunity to get to know her. She takes pride in understanding her work, has a passion for Polaroid photography, and appreciates a good beer. Nonetheless here is Caitlynn Dubie.
Amy is an engineer, one of google's top food critics, and an adventure enthusiast. Her and her husband Tyler are busy brewing beer, cooking new meals, and parenting their dog, Dublin. She has recently dabbled in pursuing new hobbies. Of which include, skiing and kayaking. She is overly kind to everyone she meets and I hope to learn from her perspective on life. Here's episode 4 of Paper Mountains, Amy Bernardy.
He is a man who doesn't sleep. A kind and genuine person with a curious mind. He has experienced different parts of the world, and has a unique outlook on life. Because of this, I am very grateful for this conversation, so I can learn from his experiences and insight. He has served in the US Army and is currently finishing up his studies at Tiffin university. I could go on and on, further outlining his accomplishments, but nonetheless welcome to the Paper Mountains Podcast: Troy Lucius.
Jonah Nye is an aspiring filmmaker with a passion for creativity. He is a musician without a name. With recently finishing film school at a young age, he is searching for a direction and purpose. In this conversation we delve into movies, inspiration, goals, and more.
Our first guest is a great friend of mine. He is an expert in sales, Marketing major from Tiffin University, lives in the wonderful town of Castalia, Ohio, and is always down for a good time. We have become friends over the years, and I couldn't think of a better person to do the first episode with. He somehow is a star wars fanatic, while also being a motor-cycle enthusiast. We plan to go deep in conversation while having fun along the way. Alex Acree.
