Today's Episode The professional world is changing fast, and gone are the days of going to Kinko's to print out 20 copies of your resume on special paper you bought at Office Depot before mailing them off to potential employers. Now, businesses large and small use software called Applicant Tracking System (ATS), a form of artificial intelligence (AI) that scans resumes for keywords before they are reviewed by hiring managers. According to the Harvard Business School, 75% of resumes are rejected by ATS, with 88 to 94% of highly qualified applicants being rejected by the algorithm before a human lays eyes on them. About Dr. Castonguay Dr. Brittany Castonguay, owner and CEO of Strategic Human Resources & Innovations (SHRI), shares expert tips and tricks to understand how AI is being used by employers, and what you can do to beat the algorithms and land your dream job! Brittany is a quick-witted and charismatic leader who uses her authenticity to relate to people at different levels. She holds a doctorate in Global Leadership and Change from Tiffin University. And if all else. Find someone that is willing to listen and help. If you can't find someone, then I suggest doing the self-aiding activities of finding a podcast or reading a book or just finding an outlet to really find that success.” - Jaden   “You've already made it through your worst day. In this episode of the Forging Excalibur Podcast, Justin speaks to Nick Carmody. Nick Carmody, JD, MS-Psychology, has an undergraduate degree in Management of Criminal Justice from Concordia University Wisconsin, a law degree from The University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, and a Masters of Science degree from Tiffin University in Ohio. Nick has a private practice based in Denver, Colorado, and also works with low income children who have experienced trauma (many of whom are currently in foster care). In 2010, Nick experienced two life-changing Traumatic Brain Injuries (eight months apart). The changes in brain functioning, personality, and emotional processing (along with other intense personal experiences such as childhood sexual abuse, exposure to Cluster B Personality Disorders) created an obsession-like need to understand and confirm these experiences, and served as motivation to go back to school and work in the field of psychology. Nick's experiences with trauma have shaped a very unique life experience that created an unconventional path to a career helping people who have similar lived-experiences. Nick writes extensively on Twitter.com/Nick_Carmody (200+ threads), and, time permitting, reposts the work as articles on . In 2015, Nick began writing "Putting My Worst Foot Forward", but took a hiatus to focus on grad school, establishing a client base, and writing/warning about the dangers of Cluster B Personality Disorders in American Politics. Nick is currently working on a book about the psychology of American politics during the Trump era as a collection of essays titled, "Trickle Down Pathology". "To awaken human emotion is the highest level of art." -Isadora Duncan On today's episode Abby and Margot welcome their next guest, Luis Ludeña. He studied hospitality management as an undergrad, and received his MBA in finance from Tiffin University in Ohio. Luis worked at a tennis resort in upstate New York during his summers through college and later found his career as a tennis pro at John McEnroe's Sportime on Long Island. Luis shares that anxiety simply wasn't something taught or talked about in his home country, Venezuela, especially as a boy or man. He talks about his culture's expectations, i.e. "Men are tough, and don't show emotion," and how that influenced his avoidant behaviors in his youth. After moving to the U.S. at age 18, things began to change. He began to open up and break down what he calls the "emotional wall" and process and express emotions in a different way. Luis talks about the powerful ways he's learned to cope with anxiety, and other big feelings and offers the Warriors so many inspiring ideas about how to change your habits and find acceptance. Luis is passionate about teaching today's youth more than just tennis. He's focused on helping them to build self confidence, trust, and self awareness. Olga Bertelsen's timely book, In the Labyrinth of the KGB: Ukraine's Intelligentsia in the 1960s-1970s (Lexington Books, 2022), focuses on the generation of the sixties and seventies in Kharkiv, Soviet Ukraine—a milieu of writers who lived through the Thaw and the processes of de-Stalinization and re-Stalinization. Special attention is paid to KGB “active measures” against what came to be known as the dissident milieu, and the interaction of Ukrainians, Jews, and Russians in the movement, their personal friendships, formal and informal interactions, and how they dealt with repression and arrests. Her book demonstrates that the KGB unintentionally facilitated the transnational and intercultural links among the multi-ethnic community of writers and their mutual enrichment. Post-Khrushchev Kharkiv is analyzed as a political space and a place of state violence aimed at combating Ukrainian nationalism and Zionism, two major targets in the 1960s–1970s. Bertelsen shows that, in the face of intense KGB operations, Kharkivite writers and intellectuals attempted to survive in the state's “labyrinth” with their integrity, creativity, and human relationships intact. This book sheds light on the history of Soviet intelligence tactics and the creative intelligentsia, and helps explain the legacies of Soviet/Russian state violence that are erupting once more in Ukraine. Olga Bertelsen is an Associate Professor of Global Security and Intelligence at Tiffin University's School of Criminal Justice and Social Sciences in Ohio, USA. Anna Bisikalo is a PhD candidate in history at Harvard University. I do my best to bring on guests who have taken their lived experience and transmuted it into unique expertise and insight. Happy to tell you Nick Carmody has done this in some incredible ways. We cover a ton of ground: brain injury, abuse, overcoming false narratives, the impact of fathers, what kills nuance, and the weird ways masculinity gets tangled and hijacked for political gain. Listen in! Nick Carmody's life shifted dramatically in 2010, when he experienced two life-changing traumatic brain injuries only eight months apart. On top of ending a 12-year relationship with a narcissist. The changes in brain function, personality, and emotional processing as well as navigating the divorce and being bled out financially in courts led Nick to rock bottom and near suicide, but also gave him an intense desire to understand and confirm what he was experiencing and became Nick's motivation to work in the psychology field. It soon became apparent to Nick that his lived experience—combined with his studied expertise—allowed for unique insight into the modern political climate, and a honed ability to help others who have endured similar trauma. He has a bachelor of arts in criminal justice from Concordia University, a Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, and a Masters of Science degree from Tiffin University in Ohio. He has a private practice based in Denver, and works with children from low-income families who have experienced trauma (many of whom are currently in foster care). Nick is in the process of writing Putting My Worst Foot Forward. He writes prolifically on the dangers of Cluster B Personality Disorders in American Politics, and is considering publishing his writings about the psychology of American politics during the Trump era as a collection of essays titled, Trickle Down Pathology. Most recently, he's gotten attention for a theory on the intersection of addiction and tribalism.   Connect with Nick -Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/NickCarmody -Twitter: https://twitter.com/nick_carmody See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Him and I were roommates at Tiffin University and roommates when we would travel for games so we had a great relationship on and off the field. On this episode, we have a conversation about the way he grew up and how playing multiple sports at a young age was a good thing for him. We also get into the impact LeBron James had on the city as Tyler was able to witness that first hand growing up. Being from the same city as arguably one of the best basketball players ever, had everyone wanting to play basketball. Which Tyler did, played basketball, but knew that football was his calling. Tyler talks about a personal loss in losing his older sister (Ebony Jones, RIP) right before he went off to college. Experiencing that loss at a time where he forced to grow up by being away from home and in college now, he had to grow up quicker than he thought, which he did! I've always said that Tyler is one of the smartest football players I have ever played with. He carried that with pride and it continues today as he is giving back to the community he grew up in, Akron, OH with being a football coach and helping speak and coach at youth camps for CFL QB Antonio Pipkin. A college teammate at Tiffin University, this Pittsburgh native is living out his dream working for his hometown team, the Pittsburgh Steelers as the Youth Football Coordinator. Growing up, Joe loved basketball first, but football ultimately worked itself into the picture as he entered high school. The area Joe grew up in produce more than 100 football players that I have played or is currently playing in the NFL. With this exposure attracted top colleges to his high school of Woodland Hills, but things went differently for Joe. This conversation is filled with good gems and lessons that can help the next high school or college athlete realize that if you first dream of playing professional sports doesn't work out, you can still pursue a career in sports, but what are you going to do to ensure that happens? Just as if you were preparing for a game, you have to prepare the same way in life when you are looking for your next career. It’s Short Time Shots recapping the scores and more from November 16, 2017 … and just to let you know, the worst band I’ve ever paid to see on purpose perform live? R.E.M. I’m Jason Bryant, let’s get to it. Light night in Division I with just two duals including Indiana escaping 19-18 against host Bloomsburg. Hoosier heavyweight Fletcher Miller was the hero, earning a victory in overtime to give Indiana its first win of the year. Bloomsburg put up a fight, with Willy Girard knocking off NCAA qualifier Elijah Oliver 12-5 at 125 pounds. The score tells two different stories here. Indiana, from the Big Ten, struggled to get past a team that coming into this season had only won FIVE of its last 52 dual meets. The Huskies can see some positives here. They’re 1-2 on the season and coach Marcus Gordon can use this for some badly-needed program momentum. If you’re the Hoosiers, you shouldn’t be this close to a team that went 4-17 last year with its only wins coming over Davidson, Sacred Heart and a couple of non-Division I teams. In Fairfax, Virginia, the Frank Beasley era began with a thud as Oregon State ventured across the country and topped George Mason 32-9. Oregon State won eight of ten matches, but forfeited 125 pounds. So that meant no Ronnie Bresser. Also out of action was All-American Canadian Amar Dhesi. In his place, Oregon State’s Cody Crawford rallied from an early 4-1 deficit to beat Matt Voss 9-5. #15 Coe-#13 Central The best dual of the night came, not surprisingly, from the Iowa Conference where 15th-ranked Coe College knocked off 13th-ranked Central College 23-15 in Cedar Rapids. Central jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead thanks to wins by All-Americans C.J. Pestano and Cam Timok, but Coe All-Americans Cole Erickson and Jake Voss -- hrm, a second Voss reference today -- earned major decisions to highlight the Kohawks performance. It came down to heavyweight and Coe’s Brennan Koerperich pinned Holden Miller to give the host squad the modest upset. D3wrestle.com Wrestler of the Week Jordan Newman was the fastest man on the mat on Thursday, picking up a fall at 197 pounds in 95 seconds as No. 12 UW-Whitewater went into Stevens Point, Wisconsin and pounded UW-Stevens Point 33-3. Ned Shuck’s Warhawks improve to 2-0. Elsewhere in Division III, Manchester topped Adrian 25-21, while NAIA Lourdes knocked off Muskingum 38-12. Natural segue to the NAIA where Oklahoma City shut out Lyon 50-0 and No. 12 Montana State-Northern topped Warner Pacific 34-12 Some news you can read about by subscribing to Mat Talk Online’s Daily Wrestling Newsletter at mattalkonline.com/news -- Tiffin University hired Brittney Gadd as its new women’s coach.
