In today's episode I explore the idea that through the chaos of what is going on outside with the pandemic and politics now more than ever we are trying to find some control, something solid to hold onto.So in that we are showing up on social media and sticking to our routines, and these dynamics all the while feeling more tired, and more stressed, and possibly more confused and overwhelmed on why and what we are really doing at all....I say this because I can relate, which is why my body, mind, and spirit went into a full WTF spiral and landed me here. Not really doing much of anything but doing everything my own self and body really say yes to, and some days that's a whole lot of nothing. Honestly, productivity queen is jumping ship because holy hell I woke up to the nightmare that I've been on the wrong boat! And this one is making me sea sick.Not saying I'll never be the "traditional" sense of productive again but I'm going to do it on my own boat in a way that feels right for me, even when it doesn't make sense or look like what everyone else is to expect.And that brings me to the point of this episode, I wouldn't have known the boat wasn't right (to stay with this analogy) if I didn't do this work, and I think we are so focused sometimes (especially in the online business world and being so visible online) on creating utility for other people, or holding on to this ship for dear life that we are completely missing out on the full experience that is all our own.What do I mean by this? In this solo episode, She’s Hungry host Cait Pearson, gives her perspective of “Freebie” culture that we see all over the internet and the Entrepreneur world. We’ve all been there before (probably more times than we would like to admit), we give over our email in return to have a freebie sent to our inbox that had no further value than what we could have found ourselves on the first two pages of Google. This can be so frustrating when you are at the place of admitting that you want to learn more about a topic, and you expected more from the person you trusted to get that information from. Cait expresses her opinion on how this type of approach to providing freebies is missing a huge opportunity to connect with a new audience and build a more genuine connection with them. And it's like the universe has a weird way of rewarding you or like showing you that what you're doing is good or the right thing. Or like what? Like patting you on the back, essentially. Because now my whole passion in life is to have more of these conversations, to empower people to know that like whatever your money story is or if you're still living that panic to panic lifestyle, that does not have to define you. And you can literally start today. And it's like, I know that is so scary and I know it's a system that is so scary for people. I'm again, I'm just grateful that I set up my account the way that I did last year. So I have a buffer and I have some room to kind of expand and figure it out and pivot my business to have more of these conversations, to coach people through this conversation, to work with them one on one, to show them like whether you're a profit based business, whether you're a service based business, or, I mean, I'm sorry, a product based business or a service based business. All of these thing, It's still just breaking them down into the little places and figuring out your profit margins and things like that. And because I was such a psycho about it, because I didn't want to end up I wanted to prove myself wrong. And the only way I got to do that is if I worked the system. And you don't have to be selling something life altering in order to have a meaningful purpose behind it. You could be selling jewelry or clothes or makeup and you have a purpose why you do that thing. It brings somebody joy. Right. People need those things. People want those things. People are looking for those things that make people more confident, whatever. So you really need to get dig deep. And I always recommend doing it with a journal and journaling on what is my purpose for selling this thing. What is the outcome that people get when they purchase this from me? How do I make them feel? You know, what are the feelings that they get to have? Because I'm selling this thing. Why is it important? Essentially, because once you can get down into it, why is it important to be selling this thing? Then there's not feeling bad about it, right? You're not forcing anyone. Most people listening probably aren't forcing anyone to buy something. Right. You're really not tricking anyone into some weird contract, I hope, or anything like that.” [00:35:47] - [00:35:51] “Because when you have a bigger purpose behind it, nothing else really matters.” [00:37:40] - [00:38:18] “I think imposter syndrome is so interesting. One thing that really helped me and continues to help me is, you know, people like you and people like, you know, anyone. Anyone who's a famous author or a famous actress or anybody. They still tell the stories and they still feel those ways, too. Right. So I think like hearing those stories is really helpful, reminding yourself that this is something everyone feels. It's just human nature. I mean, again, that's just some brain giving you reasons to stop doing the uncomfortable thing and to stay in the area of safety and that safety net. So just remembering that it's something everyone faces.” [00:48:37] - [00:48:59] “I really am a recovering workaholic, like so much in the Hustle Road and like you award like a badge of honor. Right. But I think that also can really play into imposter syndrome because like deep down, I feel like it wasn't the first one in the office and the loss of leave. Was I good enough? Right. That was like what made me feel enough in that didn't need to be there. To be enough.” [00:58:17] - [00:58:59] “Yeah, I think it's a it's a very good opportunity that we have right now to practice being in the moment, being in the moment and looking for the things we seek for granted. Like, again, people write like little things like, you know, just to just think about, well, the things I've been taking for granted and to think about, you know, just gratitude differently. I feel like that's part of what's helped me create a positive shift is just sinking into that. And like you said, like I've been doing face some happy hours with my group of roommates from college that I haven't seen. I see them just for like weddings because they don't live around here. But we never used to do that. Right. We could have done that before. But now all of a sudden, we have a reason. If you want to write that down and kind of mull on that for a while, I wouldn't say no. Being positive isn't a privilege. It's a practice and a chosen one. Positivity means that no matter what hard days are ahead. I know there are better ones coming. That's what it means. It doesn't mean any of the things that are just previously listed just means it's a choice.

Hey loves! I hope you all are doing so well, I'm officially at the conclusion of my third week in quarantine and although it hasn't been fun and my emotions have definitely come in waves at times. This week's interview with Monja Meyer just SHOOK me. I am a self-proclaimed productivity MASTER and here I discover in so many areas of my life I'm still holding myself back and "perfecting" it's the art of procrastination for entrepreneurs. In today's episode I really break it down: 14:08 - 14:21 “In anything you do in life, life also happens at the same pace that everything you are unfolding and planning and creating and life will still throw you curve balls all the time and you just have to allow that to be a thing.” 14:31- 14:35 “You have to allow space for whatever is going to happen to just be fine.” 21:57 - 22:27 “When I uncover something curious about myself that I didn't see before I spend a lot of time in reflection. On how does it make me feel to know this about myself now? How does it make me feel going forward? Where am I exhibiting this behavior in my life where I would like to be more intentional about and go slower in so I don't keep perpetuating this behavior that I am not really a fan of.” 25:31- 26:01 “Discipline sometimes is just being where you are at and staying there and being there and just sitting down to take 5 minutes on your couch to do a reflection or to meditate. Yes you are not exerting yourself in a painful kind of way but you're disciplining yourself enough to just sit and that is really beautiful and that's still a form of discipline when it's not really hard.” 26:24 - 26:37 “Drop your expectation around everything including the things that you think are making you better and analyse what is actually going to serve you in any of those moments.” 28:04 - 28:29 “I actively step into growth everyday.
