In Hour 2, we opened with football, discussing how the Miami Dolphins' softening schedule realistically offered them a path back to a .500 record and kept them in the playoff hunt. We also analyzed the brewing controversy around NFL star Ja'Marr Chase following an alleged spitting incident, which he firmly denied. Following that, we explored the Miami Hurricanes' situation, laying out how their College Football Playoff hopes were still alive despite their ACC Championship route being closed. We break down the brewing controversy around Ja'Marr Chase after video surfaced that some believe shows him spitting during the game — a claim Chase has firmly denied. Then we shift to the Hurricanes, where the path to an ACC Championship is essentially gone, but Miami's College Football Playoff hopes remain alive thanks to a chaotic national landscape. We lay out what still needs to happen and how realistic the Canes' late-season push truly is.
Host John Lund recap Louisville's 20-19 loss to Clemson on last Friday night. What went wrong, what went right, what went wrong again, and what head coach Jeff Brohm and QB Miller Moss had to say about it afterward. It was the end of any ACC championship game or the College Football Playoff hopes, and the third of now three losses that still had plenty of chances to win, despite more frustrating play from the offense and the worst game of the season from special teams. The same mistakes that plagued the team throughout the season came at the game's most important moments, critical mistakes as Jeff Brohm put it about 200 times after the game. Guess we're on to basketball season! Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.

In the sport of lacrosse, Julie Myers is a legend. As a player, she achieved a National Championship. As a coach, she is responsible for 2 total National Championships, 6 Final Four appearances, 5 Title Game appearances, 5 ACC Championships and 27 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances. She was also National Coach of the Year in 2004, ACC Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2006 . She was inducted in the US Lacrosse Hall of fame and the IWLCA Hall of Fame. Julie's success in sports and life is a result of grit, resilience and putting family first. Growing up, she loved competing with her siblings while appreciating how lucky she was to be able to play. As a coach, she emphasized the value of relationships and feeling connected. As a mother, she made hard decisions that kept her on the right path. In one of the biggest tragedies to affect the lacrosse communities, the death of Yeardley Love to abuse by an ex-boyfriend, Julie Myers realized that who she was and what she accomplished was just a drop in the bucket of life but also learned that every drop is incredibly important. With the beginning on The One Love Foundation, she was determined to make her ripple bigger by creating social change, raising awareness about relationship abuse and educating about relationship health. Now as CEO, she is responsible for ultimately teaching us all to “Love Better.” Julie Myers' message and legacy show us that, “It is amazing what people can do, especially when they have to.” @join1love

From a late start in high school track to becoming one of the fastest milers in NCAA history, today's guest has rewritten the blueprint for distance running success.Gary Martin's rise has been nothing short of electric. After a quiet freshman year at the University of Virginia, he exploded onto the national scene during the 2024 cross country season—capturing the ACC Championship with a course record and finishing 13th at nationals to earn All-American honors. But that was just the beginning. On the track, Gary has been rewriting record books: a 7:36 meet-record win in the 3000m at ACC Indoors, a Virginia school record in the 5000m, and a 3:48 mile at the 2025 Millrose Games—the second-fastest indoor mile in NCAA history. He didn't stop there, anchoring UVA's distance medley relay team to an NCAA-record time of 9:14.And long before college glory, Gary made headlines as a Pennsylvania high schooler when he ran 3:57.98 without a pacer—becoming the first from his state and just the 14th U.S. high schooler ever to break four minutes. With PRs of 3:33 in the 1500m, 3:48 in the mile, 7:36 in the 3K, and 13:16 in the 5K, Gary's resume is as fast as it is fearless. In today's conversation, Gary takes me through his training, recent record-breaking races, his mindset going into NCAA if he'll end his NCAA eligibility to go pro, his take on PA distance running, MJ v Lebron, and his thoughts going into Eugene next month. This one was an absolute blast. Don't miss an inside look at one of the best runners in the country. Tap into the Gary Martin Special. A disqualification that turns into one of swimming's most viral moments. A champion brought to his knees in tears as officials strip away his victory. And a redemption exactly one year later that proves sometimes, the universe does give second chances.NC State NCAA All-American and ACC Champion in the mile (1650), Owen Lloyd's journey from heartbreak to triumph embodies everything we love about sports comebacks. After winning the mile at the ACC Championships during his senior year, Owen experienced the crushing disappointment of being disqualified for inadvertently falling into a competitor's lane during celebration. The moment – captured on camera just as he was about to be interviewed as champion – amassed over a million views online and sparked outrage throughout the swimming community.Rather than let this devastating moment define him, Owen returned for a fifth year with renewed determination. He meticulously developed mental techniques to maintain focus during his grueling event, including playing specific songs in his head throughout different phases of the race. His disciplined approach to training included benchmark test sets that built unshakable confidence, even when facing Olympic-level competition. The story reaches its perfect conclusion when Owen returns to ACCs one year later, executing a flawless strategic race to reclaim his rightful title with the best time of his career. As he touched the wall in victory, the basketball phrase "ball don't lie" said everything that needed saying. His improvement from a 15:24 freshman to a 14:29 fifth-year stands as testament to what's possible when defeat becomes fuel rather than a final chapter.Whether you're a swimmer or simply someone who appreciates inspiring comebacks against the odds, Owen's story reminds us that our greatest setbacks often precede our greatest triumphs. Listen now and discover how the discipline of distance swimming creates not just champions in the pool, but individuals equipped to overcome life's most challenging moments.• NC State All-American and ACC Champion in the mile (1650)• Improved from 15:24 as a freshman to 14:29 in his fifth year• Masters Student focusing on coaching, leadership and psychology• Recently retired from competitive swimming at 2023 NCAAs• Uses carefully selected music in his head to maintain focus during races• Created a strict 3-hour pre-race routine for the mile• Endured a heartbreaking disqualification after winning ACCs• Returned one year later to win the event legitimately against stronger competition• Planning to pursue coaching at the collegiate level• Values "pressure is a privilege" as his guiding philosophyEmail us at HELLO@ChampionsMojo.com.
