Interview with internationally-known guitar maker and musician Paul Reed Smith. 2024 Paul Reed Smith - Eightlock is a band of high-level musicians who are friends and have “locked” together recording and performing a new kind of groove with its roots in Baltimore funk, DC go-go and New Orleans swing. The band's sound is a heady brew of blues, soul, rock, funk and other roots sounds, all stirred-up into a groove-alicious gumbo. The line-up is three drummers, a bass player, a female singer and three guitar players, and the excitement around their three drummer groove is infectious. The band's three drummers are: Dennis Chambers (John Scofield, George Duke, Brecker Brothers, Santana, Parliament/Funkadelic, John McLaughlin) who was inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2001; Gregory Grainger (Whitney Houston, Acoustic Alchemy); and Ju Ju House the legendary DC Go-Go drummer (Roberta Flack, Trevor Horn and The Chuck Brown Band). Bassist Gary Grainger has performed with John Scofield, Nancy Wilson, George Duke and Bill Evans. Vocalist Mia Samone Davis has a beautiful multifaceted voice that got its start in gospel music at a very young age. Guitarist Mike Ault regularly performs with high caliber artists including Rachelle Ferrell David Grissom, and Davy Knowles. Guitarist Bill Nelson is the Director of the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center where he was introduced and invited to join the band in their efforts to raise money for cancer patients and families. “This group of highly respected and world-renowned musicians have a lot to say musically and spiritually,” Paul Reed Smith says. “It's been an absolute joy to be the catalyst for their gifts resulting in the music found in Lions Roaring in Quicksand.” Added guitarist/vocalist Dr. Bill Nelson: “The musicianship in Eightlock is extraordinary, but what amazes me most is that the music - both the recordings and live performances - just keep getting better and better. Locking into an Eightlock groove is a dream." And dynamic lead singer Mia Samone summed it up by saying, "Creating this CD reminded me that, ‘Peace is the price when the mind is at war'......inner peace is priceless." In addition to performing and recording with his own band, Paul Reed Smith has played with artists such as Santana, Alter Bridge and the Doobie Brothers. He was honored by Vintage Guitar Magazine as a Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. Paul has countless industry connections through all of the artists that endorse his guitars, plus invaluable marketing opportunities through his guitar company and all of the music stores around the world that sell his guitars. Grammy-award winning Mexican rock band Manaì had him open their residency at the LA Forum this year, John Mayer and Santana have taken him on tour. In addition to 10 powerful original songs on Lions Roaring in Quicksand, the new album features a cover of a Manaì song in English, “Ay, Doctor,” that the band has agreed to share on their social media to their millions of fans, as well as scintillating versions of the Al Green soul classic, “Love and Happiness,” the legendary Edwin Starr song, “War,” and “99,” a chart hit for the original version in France. Léo Gandelman, Djavan, Gal Costa, Gilberto Gil, Cazuza, Caetano Veloso o Marina Lima. Time travel, one of mankind's fervent desires. We do it here: we travel back in time to remember great Smooth Jazz hits that are already iconic. Tracks that remain in our memory but that we didn't remember. We refresh you musically. Headphones, sofa and 60 minutes of your time... that's all we ask of you. We go from the impressive Hardcastle - yes, the one from that 19th that we still remember - to the late Nick Colionne who left us in January this year. Let's go to the Minucci of the best times and let's go to impressive songs by the Acoustic Alchemy, a band that was born and grew up in the shadow of the acoustic guitars of Simon James and Nick Webb. The Rippingtones - the American Smooth jazz and Crossover jazz band, formed in 1986 by guitarist Russ Freeman -, Bob Baldwin - creator and king of Urban Jazz - or the great Torcuato Mariano, the master born in Argentina, and settled in the land of Pelé, who now also has a voice in The Voice Brazil, could not be missing from all this. He accompanied the greats... Greg Grainger, the drummer for Acoustic Alchemy, is known as one of the most dynamic musicians to come out of the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area. In this episode we welcome Renee S. LeBeau back to the show. She's here to share with us about her new creative release, which happens on this very day, of a new and quite remarkable album, entitled “Sophianic Symphony”. The word “Sophianic” is derived from the name of the Gnostic Goddess of Wisdom, Sophia. According to the ancient mystics, Sophia IS the planet Earth…or the planet as a direct emanation of Her divine beingness. The mystic traditions also ascribe the creation of all Nature and humanity to this luminous Aeon of organic Light. The album is therefore also a direct emanation through Renee's field of being and awareness from Sophia. The instruments she is playing are being played through her while also maintaining a human element. A vast spaciousness surrounding her playing is beautifully captured in the tones of various acoustic instruments and vocalizatons by Renee. The recording also captures the ambient space which contains frequencies above and beyond the range of normal hearing. Join us…and feel the homecoming via sound.Music selections (from Sophianic Symphony):1. Chaos is My Truth2. Accepting Purification3. Since antiquity the role sound and music has been an integral part of the human experience. A branch of esoteric and spiritual studies also investigated the properties of sound as medium for connecting to altered states of awareness and spiritual dimensions. Some disciplines focused on sound as a healing modality, others used it to induce trance-like states that suspended the ego. Renee S. LeBeau is one such pioneer, using a variety of instruments, including her own voice, to help others unlock themselves from a restricted perception of who they are, and to experience greater vistas of awareness and open the doors of consciousness to spiritual potentials. She is an Acoustic Alchemist creating vast soundscapes as a direct conduit of Creation. She was born with hearing beyond the 5 senses and an oracular connection to Universal intelligence and unseen realms. Join us to learn about Renee's journey and listen to a few samples of the activation music she is gifting to humanity.Renee LeBeau: https://reneelebeau.com/Presented by Isaac George: https://IsaacGeorge.comTune into KindaSound Radio every Sunday: https://KindaSound.org

Music Highlight Ep.24
Music Highlight Ep.23
Greg and Gary Grainger are two of the busiest guys in the music business. As co-founders of Pockets in the late 1970's, they recorded 3 studio albums which contained 6 songs that landed on Billboard's R&B charts. Back together today, Pockets have been in the studio and have just released their new single - Work It Out. In recent years, bassist Gary and drummer Greg, have produced several albums as Grainger with the latest being Phase III. With their roots back to the early days of Earth, Wind & Fire, they also find the time to book gigs as In Gratitude - a tribute to their long time friends. On the contemporary jazz front, they record and tour with Acoustic Alchemy, whose recent release was 33 1/3. And last...but certainly not least, you'll find the brothers in the Paul Reed Smith Band, playing worldwide and laying down some tracks, too. Multi-award winning program director, Ray White, talked with them on all fronts, on this packed-full episode! They are certainly, two really Coool CAT's!!

Peter White is a perennial favorite at Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest. His Christmas Show has become a tradition for many and whets the audience appetite for more Peter White music during the annual Berks Jazz Fest. Peter says the first music he ever played at the ripe old age of 7 was Christmas music on the piano. His Dad taught him how to play and introduced him to Christmas favorites. Growing up in England in the 60’s it was the Beatles that started him on his guitar journey. A journey that led him to Abbey Road Studio at the age of 20 to record ‘The Year Of The Cat’ with Rod Stewart. That was followed by a tour that brought him to America at age 21 performing with Rod Stewart at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia. Listening to another English Band, ‘Acoustic Alchemy’, he was inspired to continue writing his own music and pursue a solo career. Peter talks about the power and challenge of collaborative work with other artists and the gratitude he feels when audience members share their own stories of the impact of hearing his music. For Peter playing and writing music is all about listening!

Do you wake up every day overflowing with joy? Gwen Lepard does! She is a Speaker, Holistic Healer, Master Neuro Lingustic Programming (NLP) Practitioner and Bestselling Co-Author of “The Gratitude Book Project”. With over 25 years of healing experience, she’s impacted thousands of people through touch, voice, words and music. Gwen is also an authority on joy! She worked directly with Debra Harry of Blondie, Ginger Baker, who was Erik Clapton’s drummer in the band Cream and Acoustic Alchemy. She also worked with Smooth Jazz greats, Russ Freeman and the Rippingtons in the studio and backstage during the 80’s. In the 90’s she took to the airwaves as an on-air radio personality. In her 9 years in radio she was featured in over 1500 shows and spoke in front of groups of hundreds and even thousands during a fundraiser featuring Heart’s acoustic group, the Love Mongers, in Portland, Oregon. As the twenty first century unfolded, Gwen co-founded a small record label that included an album she personally placed in over 400 stores and through her efforts that album made it to the Grammy ballot in four categories. Like for many others, life took a turn for the worst in the late 2000’s and Gwen lost everything she’d worked so hard to gain… Everything that is except her determination and ability to find the positive in even the most negative experiences of her life. These experiences resulted in her desire to help others end their suffering and live a joy filled life. Today… she’s mastered one of the most profound technologies in neuro-linguistics, combined with structural healing modalities, she’s one of few healers who literally touch the body and mind simultaneously. Through her workshops and message of “Forgiveness to Joy” her clients gain a new way to have more energy, better health, happier relationships and become more attractive to the abundance they desire.
