Elektryczność odgrywa bardzo ważną rolę w naszym życiu, a to w formie świecącej żarówki, a to czasem nie święcącej, grającego radia, czy czegoś tam. Nie dziwi zatem fakt, że obchodzimy, konkretnie 10 czerwca Międzynarodowy Dzień Elektryka ustanowiony w 1989 roku w celu uświetnienia setnej rocznicy śmierci André Marie Ampère'a, który wziął swoje nazwisko od Ampera, którego wynalazł, czy tam odwrotnie.
Iz evangelija današnje nedelje izhaja, da je imel Kristus »poln« dan, nabit z obveznostmi. S štirimi učenci je šel v shodnico, kjer ni samo učil, ampak je tudi izgnal hude duhove. Po tem je šel v Simonovo hišo in ozdravil njegovo taščo. Zvečer so k njemu še prinašali bolnike, da bi jih ozdravil. To je gotovo trajalo pozno v noč. Zato bi razumeli, če bi Jezus naslednje jutro »malo potegnil«, da bi dlje spal. Toda Kristus je zgodaj zjutraj vstal in se opravil na samoten kraj, da bi molil. Namesto da bi si mislil, da ve, kaj Bog hoče od njega, je v molitvi prosil za Božje vodstvo, naj ga Bog vodi. Iz te globoke povezanosti z Očetom je jasno izhajal naslednji korak, da bo šel tudi v druga naselja oznanjat evangelij. Biti z Gospodom ni izgubljen čas. Jezus je bil nenehno v gibanju. Celo njegova molitev je bila dejavna. Ni zgodaj zjutraj vstal, da bi užival ob lepem sončnem vzhodu in zmolil nekaj molitev, ne, on je prosil, iskal in trkal. V molitvi je odkrival Očetov načrt. Zato je bil pripravljen, da spremeni stvari v življenju, da bi izpolnil ta načrt. Podobno kot se tekač skloni na startu, je bila Jezusova molitev dejavno čakanje, ne nedejavno izgubljanje časa. Ali nas preseneča, da je celo Jezus, sin večnega Očeta, potreboval čas, da je govoril z Očetom in tako razločeval svoje načrte in namene? Če je to res Jezus, koliko bolj je pomembno potem to za nas? Mladi Friderik Ozanan (1813–1853), ustanovitelj Vincencijevih konferenc, ki so pomagale ubogim, je doživljal globoko duhovno krizo. Ko je nekoč šel mimo ene pariških cerkva, je iz navade vstopil vanjo. V cerkvi je zagledal slavnega fizika Ampera, ki je zbrano molil. Ko je znanstvenik odhajal iz svetišča, ga je Friderik vprašal: »Gospod profesor, ali je mogoče, da nekdo velik kakor vi, še vedno moli?« Ampere je odgovoril: »Velik sem samo, kadar molim!« Italijanski pisatelj Giovanni Papini je zapisal: »Če se človek hoče dvigniti, mora poklekniti.« (Zgodbe kažejo novo pot, 21). Na neki način je molitev kot zbranost na startu. Bolj ko se zbereš, bolje boš tekel. Zato lahko rečemo, da je molitev celo nevarna. Neki politik je videl množico ljudi, ki je v cerkvi molila. Redovniku je dejal: »Če molijo, je vse v redu!« Ta mu je takoj odgovoril: »O ne! Če prav molijo, se bo nekaj zgodilo. Svet bo postal drugačen. Z molitvijo se vse spremeni. Molitev je nevarna, vse obrne na glavo!« (Zgodbe kažejo novo pot, 19).
Elke smartphone wordt vandaag de dag aangedreven door een ARM-chip. Ook in auto's, tablets, televisies en Internet of Things-oplossingen zijn ARM-chips te vinden. De Apple A- en M-chips, de Qualcomm Snapdragon, de Samsung Exynos en vele andere zijn gebaseerd op ARM. Opmerkelijk genoeg is ARM nog niet doorgebroken in het datacenter, maar wij denken dat dit snel gaat veranderen, om te beginnen met de cloud. AWS is wat dat betreft een kartrekker, die ontwikkelen inmiddels al enkele jaren ARM-chips voor in hun cloudinfrastructuur. Zo hebben ze inmiddels de derde generatie Graviton processor beschikbaar. Dit is een krachtige ARM-chip die sneller, zuiniger en goedkoper is dan de Intel Xeon-chips. AWS heeft naast de Graviton ook de Inferentia- en de Tranium-chip, welke geschikt zijn voor AI-workloads en machine learning. Bij AWS zijn ze heel duidelijk in de voordelen van hun eigen ARM-chips. Minder stroomverbruik, betekent lagere kosten. Meer prestaties en meer optimalisaties voor bepaalde type workloads, denk aan een webserver of database-server. Dit alles maakt de Graviton aantrekkelijk. Ondertussen zie je dat Microsoft Azure en Oracle zijn begonnen met het aanbieden van een genereke ARM-chip die wordt ontwikkeld door Ampera, de Ampera Altra. Verder is het een slecht bewaard geheim dat Google ook al enige tijd zijn eigen chips ontwerpt, het ligt voor de hand dat we die binnenkort in de Google Cloud gaan zien. Alles bij elkaar zie je dat ARM langzaam maar zeker dominanter wordt in de cloud. Het chiptekort zorgt waarschijnlijk voor enige remming, want chips produceren is op dit moment heel lastig. Zodra het chiptekort verleden tijd is, verwachten wij flinke innovstie in de cloud met dank aan ARM. De vraag is dan ook wanneer Dell, HPE, Lenovo en Futjisu op de ARM-trein springen en een breed assortiment servers beschikbaar gaan stellen die worden aangedreven door ARM. In deze Techzine Talks gaan we dieper op in deze ontwikkelingen. Hoe wij dit zien gebeuren. Wat we nog kunnen verwachten. Ook nemen we de pc-markt nog even mee. Apple heeft besloten alle pc's voortaan te voorzien van eigen ARM-chips en Intel de deur te wijzen. Gaat hetzelfde gebeuren met alle Windows-pc's? Of blijft Microsoft trouw aan Intel?

Ipsos, a marketing research firm, surveyed first-time car buyers in March. The survey revealed that 41% of those new buyers have a preference for EVs. (About half of respondents wanted AC with a germ filter and an interior with antibacterial materials.)" writes Electrek: "The SAIC Volkswagen plant in Changsha resumed operations last week and will begin producing VW ID electric cars. The GM joint venture with Chinese automakers, which just unveiled its new Baojun electric vehicle, launched a no-questions-asked return policy within 30 days." PLUG-IN CAR SALES IN THE NETHERLANDS INCREASED IN MARCH 2020 "Passenger car sales in the Netherlands went down by 25% in March, but that's not the case for plug-ins, which still managed to note some gains, despite the challenging situation." reports InsideEVs:"The total number of new passenger plug-in car registrations amounted to 5,102 at a year-over-year growth of 8%. More importantly, the plug-in share in the market expanded to 17%, and 14% were all-electric cars alone. Tesla Model 3 registrations amounted to 1,339 (the best result for the month) - enough to regain first place in the year-to-date rank, with 1,626 units total. It's pretty funny that in early 2020 we see Model 3 fighting for the win with... Opel Ampera-e (the European version of the Chevrolet Bolt EV). Opel is still selling a lot of Ampera-e under significant discounts to achieve its emission targets - 320 additional new registrations in March translated into 1,279 YTD and second place overall. But now the media attention seems less focused on the automakers infrastructure in China, and instead writing about the Long Range and Performance models soon to be made domestically, I wanted to look at the factory some more. Plenty of drone videos are still making their way online and the latest one show foundations are in for a large scale expansion. Indeed the massive car production facility should only be thought on as stage one. In fact this phase looks to my eye to be twice the size of the existing buildings. This is going to double production capability with Model Y production line going in. The Model 3 and Model Y could be sharing production facilities for some parts. Given how many Model Y they could make from here, it coudl double global Model Y produciton. And the time of thise, I wonder if China could make more Model Y than Fremont. Talking of Phase 1, they're also extending the two current buildings, possible joining them up. TESLA MODEL Y WIRING EFFICIENCIES QUESTIONED IN LATEST MUNRO TEARDOWN "Sandy Munro took the opportunity to show the Tesla Model Y’s new wiring structure, however, the Detroit automotive veteran noted to be “kind of disappointed” in some of its design." says Teslarati: "In July 2019, Tesla published a patent that aimed to improve the wiring, power, and communications systems for its vehicles by reducing the amount of wires found within a car. Tesla maintained it would be decreased from 1.5 kilometers of wire in the Model 3 to just 100 meters in the Model Y. Munro claimed he did not see less wiring, only a more organized wiring architecture. The new design is still an improvement from the Model 3." He says "the wires are just as long". Since you won’t be in the car yourself when it’s picking up rides, the camera will provide video evidence if passengers trash the interior." writes Engadget: "the company recently applied for a patent on using the camera to recognize occupants and apply settings (such as seat position or climate controls) when they’re inside. The EPA rated the Bentayga Hybrid as delivering 18 miles in all-electric range. It’s rated at 17 mpg city and 21 on the highway. By contrast, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 version of the luxury crossover offers just 17 mpg combined, yet it delivers 23 mpg on the highway." When the car was revealed at Geneva wasn't it supposed to have 31 miles of EV range? TESLA MODEL Y GETS OFFICIAL 315 MILE RANGE "The Tesla Model Y has now officially received its official range and efficiency rating from the Environmental Protection Authority, confirming that it will have 507km (315 miles) driving range and that it is the most efficient crossover SUV now available in the US." reports The Driven.io: "Tesla CEO and co-founder Elon Musk said at the company’s fourth quarter earnings call in January that the Model Y’s range had been increased thanks to Tesla’s engineering team and that it was now the most efficient SUV in terms of energy use. The figures – which it should be noted have only been released so far for the relatively more power-hungry Performance variant – have been published on the US EPA’s fuel economy website as Tesla prepares to begin deliveries of the Model Y by the end of March." Eric at InsideEVs picks up on something I've talked about before, and that's how size of wheels makes an impact: "Currently, the EPA doesn't list which wheel size it posted results for in regards to the Model Y, but we're guessing it's the smaller 19-inch choice (we'll point out that the Performance variant lists 21-inch wheels as standard, but in the build process it only shows 19-inch wheel) due to the how the 315-mile figure compares to the various wheel options found on the Model 3 Performance. City: 334 miles, Highway: 291 miles, Combined: 315 miles. We should note that the EPA says that the combined range was voluntarily lowered from 316 miles. This practice seems quite common on most Tesla vehicles" https://thedriven.io/2020/02/07/tesla-model-y-gets-official-507km-range-and-confirmed-as-most-efficient-suv/ https://insideevs.com/news/397072/tesla-model-y-epa-range/ LUCID AIR TEASED, WILL HAVE A 900-VOLT SYSTEM AND OVER 400 MILES OF RANGE "A handful of details about the production-spec Lucid Air have surfaced prior to the car’s premiere at April’s New York Auto Show, with the company also releasing a teaser of the car." says CarScoops: "In the video, we see some of the production model’s details while also learning that the launch model will be named “Dream Edition”.Separately, Electrek recently had the opportunity to sit down with Lucid chief executive and chief technology officer Peter Rawlinson about the Air. For those that don’t know, Rawlinson was the chief engineer of the Tesla Model S program from 2009 to 2012 and is fully aware of what it takes to create an all-electric vehicle. The first thing revealed by Rawlinson about the road-ready Lucid Air is that it will have an “over” 900-volt system, far superior to the 400-volt system used by Tesla or even the 800-volt system of the Porsche Taycan. The executive added the Air will be capable of traveling in excess of 400 miles (643 km) on a single charge based on their EPA cycle estimation. Production of the Air will be handled by the marque’s factory in Casa Grande, Arizona. We saw this with the digital dash introduced on the Model S and, more recently, with the lack of an instrument cluster on the Model 3. Say what you will about Tesla, but the company isn’t afraid to re-imagine well-established design principles as it pertains to the driving experience." reports BGR.com: "In light of that, keeping an eye on Tesla patents is always interesting because it can sometimes provide us with sneak previews of features upcoming Tesla vehicles might bring to the table. The patent in question, which details a steering wheel with two touchscreen interfaces on either side, reads in part: The user interface of the steering wheel may additionally include indicators provided at a lower portion of the steering wheel indicative of a selected gear engagement of the vehicle. For example, the user interface may provide illuminated indications of engagement of Park, Reverse, Neutral, or Drive modes. Additionally or optionally, the steering wheel may include RFID detection and NFC activation functionality." https://bgr.com/2020/02/06/tesla-design-patent-steering-wheel-touchscreen/ OPEL DRASTICALLY REDUCES AMPERA-E PRICES IN THE NETHERLANDS "Shortly before the market launch of the Corsa-e, Opel has significantly reduced the prices for the all-electric Ampera-e in the Netherlands. The Business version is now available from 34,149 euros instead of 44,799 euros." reports electrive: "This is apparently to propel the sale of the remaining existing electric cars, as Opel Netherlands itself makes a note of a “limited stock”. Since the sale of Opel to PSA in 2017, things had become very quiet around the Ampera-e. The sister model of the Chevrolet Bolt is based on technology from General Motors, which also builds it for Opel in the USA. Since Chevrolet was able to sell the Bolt well in the US, there was constant speculation about how many units of the electric car the US company would make for Opel. In 2019 as a whole, only 120 Ampera-e were newly registered in Germany. On the German Opel website, the Ampera-e is still listed, but is also marked “stock vehicles only”." https://www.electrive.com/2020/02/05/opel-drastically-reduces-apera-e-prices-in-the-netherlands/ 2020 HYUNDAI SONATA HYBRID ARRIVES WITH SOLAR ROOF OPTION "The Sonata Hybrid is powered by a 2.0-liter I4 engine, producing 150 horsepower and 139 pound-feet of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with Hyundai's Active Shift Control tech, that helps smooth out gear changes. A small electric motor provides a supplemental 51 hp, and Hyundai says total system output is rated at 189 hp." reports CNET: "However, neither of those competitors has the Sonata's coolest feature: solar roof panels. Hyundai says the solar panels directly charge the 12-volt and hybrid batteries, with an electrical output of 205 watts. Assuming your car gets enough sun on the daily, Hyundai says the solar energy could provide up to 800 miles' worth of electric drive energy per year." 2.19 miles per day. https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2020-hyundai-sonata-hybrid-solar-roof-chicago-auto-show/ NOVEL “AERODYNAMIC WHEELS” FOR THE PURELY ELECTRIC BMW IX3. the wheels and their aerodynamic flow influence the overall vehicle efficiency by up to 30%. That is why a further developed technology of the BMW Aerodynamic Wheel is making its debut together with the BMW iX3, whose market launch is planned for 2020: The new combination of aluminum base wheel and individually designed inserts While reducing drag for about 5% compared to a conventionally powered BMW X3 the new Aerodynamic Wheels are not only more efficient but also lighter than previous ones: Thanks to optimum airflow around the wheel arches, the wheels are 15% lighter than the aerodynamic wheels previously fitted by BMW. Their benefits in terms of aerodynamics and weight have the overall effect of lowering power consumption for the BMW iX3 by another 2% in the European WLTP test cycle The wheels’ appearance can be varied in numerous different ways, enabling a vast variety of possibilities for the design of wheels on future models. The new Aerodynamic Wheels will also feature on the BMW iNext and BMW i4, which are going to be introduced in 2021. To fit the lightweight base wheel, the inserts are precision-moulded and integrated into the outside of the wheel between the spokes. A Nissan Leaf just finished a long, autonomous journey in Britain, which is neat." "A modified Leaf just went on a 230-mile sojourn, autonomously, from Nissan’s European technical center in southern England to its Sunderland factory in northeast England, reports Reuters. Der Opel Ampera-e wirkt noch immer wie ein Einhorn, wenn man ihm auf der Straße begegnet. Vom Chevy Bolt, seinem US-amerikanischen Bruder, gibt es mittlerweile einen für jeden, der gerne einen hätte. Aber bei Opel lief die Geschichte weniger erfolgreich - woran vor allem interessierte Kunden zu leiden haben. Denn der Ampera-e bietet so einiges. Vor allem einen Akku, der die Fahrer vergessen lässt, dass es so etwas wie Reichweitenangst geben soll, zudem gepaart mit ordentlicher DC-Schnellladefähigkeit. Mehr Alltagstauglichkeit als uns diese 60-kWh-Batterie bietet braucht nun wirklich kaum jemand. Wir haben mit dem Ampera-e ordentlich Kilometer gesammelt und ziehen in dieser Episode ein Fazit zu dem Auto, an das man in Deutschland leider immer noch nur schwer ran kommt. Mit von der Partie ist Marcus, der unter anderem schon in der ersten Ampera-e-pisode zu Gast war. Auch ansonsten gibt es viel zu erzählen: Marcel war beim nextmove DAY und durfte dort ein Tesla Model 3 über die Teststrecke jagen. Jakob fasst seine bisherigen Erfahrungen mit dem Nissan Leaf 2 zusammen, den er nun seit einem Monat täglich fährt. Renault lässt uns unsere Mietbatterien kaufen, wenn wir das denn wirklich wollen. Und während in Erfurt eine enorme Batteriefabrik entstehen wird und Tesla endlich den langersehnten Meilenstein in der Model-3-Produktion erreicht, rast VW (!) mit seinem Barchial-EV den Pikes Peak hinauf und setzt eine ordentliche Duftmarke. Tobi Wagner und seine Mitstreiter sind Teil des Future Mobility Incubator von Volkswagen und entwickeln ihre clevere Ladelösung in der Gläsernen Manufaktur in Dresden. Mitten in der e-Golf-Produktion arbeitet ChargeX daran, in Ergänzung zur stark wachsenden Schnelllade-Infrastruktur einen weit größeren Markt zu erobern: Denn wo wollen wir unsere Fahrzeuge hauptsächlich laden können? Dort, wo sie herumstehen: Am Arbeitsplatz, beim Einkaufen oder an Flug- und Bahnhöfen. Wie sich das clever und günstig machen lässt, erklärt uns Tobi in dieser Sendung. Im Rahmen der CeBit am 13. Thursday 15th February 2018. On the podcast today… More news on the first EV from Dyson, or rather then first three EVs. Although it looks like the solid state batteries might not be used in the first model. Faraday Future are back on the radar with new funding and a recent supplier event to start to build trust again in a supply chain. The Opel/Vauxhall Corsa EV is scheduled to be made in Spain from 2020. However, since PSA bought Opel from GM, that might indicate that it’s not good news for anyone in Europe wanting to buy an Ampera-e. Northvolt has secured funding from the European Investment Back for their battery production facility in Sweden. EVBox and IBC Solar have joined together to offer a fully integrated solar, storage and EV charging solution. Three stories from China today; the first being Chinese 2017 EV sales; the second is about Tesla’s ongoing plan for a factory in China; and finally China commits to keeping incentives for EV buyers. Das gilt es natürlich etwas genauer zu beleuchten, denn von Marketing-Sprüchen auf Websites lässt sich schon lange niemand mehr blenden. Wir schauen uns an, was der Ampera-e kann und was er hat, was er sein will und was er tatsächlich ist. Immerhin sprach Opel davon, keinen Chevy-Bolt-Klon auf deutsche Straßen bringen zu wollen.
