You probably think of a hammock as that flimsy sheet of cloth you string between two trees. The thing that when you get in it you either look lazy and pretentious or you simply flip over and fall to the ground losing what little dignity you have. Well, this is hammock season in show business. It's the time between the big holiday blockbusters and the big summer action movie blockbusters. Judging by the most recent box-office results people are wise to this and very few people are venturing out to the theaters right now. Maybe they're streaming, who really knows? Nonetheless, we've had a look at some of your entertainment options. We start with "The Studio" which follows a legacy Hollywood movie studio striving to survive in a world where it is increasingly difficult for art and business to live together. So it goes and hires someone played by Seth Rogen. We've all seen it and we'll let you know if it's worth your time, Then there's the controversial live action version of "Snow White" starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot. Way too much has been written about it but Bill Bregoli actually ventured out to see it. He's the only one of us brave enough. Bill McCuddy tells us about "Thank You Very Much," which is a documentary about performance artist and "song and dance man" Andy Kaufman. Neil Rosen, who likes to follow around people who wear tuxedos, tells us about "The Penguin Lessons" and his conversation with star Steve Coogan. For spy movie fans we have "Black Bag" from director Stephen Soderbergh which stars Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett. For streaming folks there's "Toxic Town" which is based on a true story and stars Jodie Whittaker and Aime Lou Wood. Aimee is also in the current season of "White Lotus" so naturally we drift off into a conversation about that. We also talk about a controversy surrounding Johnny Carson's couch and Bill M tells us about his conversation with Alec Baldwin. So even if none of what Hollywood is offering right now interests you at least you've got us to listen to.

If you've been going to movies for a few years you;ve probably realized that August is usually the End of Season Clearance Sale at the movies. Horror flicks, lame comedies, really, they should mark these films down. But this year is very different. Not only are pictures making more money this August than a year ago, but they're making more money than in August 2019 - the year before the pandemic. So we'll start with "It Ends With Us." It's based on a popular novel and stars Blake Lively as Lily, who overcomes a traumatic childhood to embark on a new life. A chance meeting with a neurosurgeon sparks a connection but Lily begins to see sides of him that remind her of her parents' relationship. Bill Bregoli watched it in a theater full of women and he'll tell you how they liked it. Then there's "Deadpool & Wolverine" which just about everyone has seen but once again Bill B was the one of us who ventured out to the theater and he'll tell you how that went. Bill B also saw "Twisters" and he explains how it;s different from "Twister" (the one with the cow). Neil went to a theater too, and he caught up with "Fly Me to the Moon." Bill McCuddy went the streaming route and watched the new version of "Presumed Innocent" Starring Jake Gylllenhaal and he'll let you know what he thought. Plus Neil and Bill M talk about the new "Saturday Night Live" movie trailer for longer than the actual trailer, but hey, that's what we do. So listen in!

A look at Satanism and humanism, their similarities and more importantly their differences. Though to do that, we'll have to first unpack some bigger topics, such as what makes a religion a religion in the first place. Also, some listener mail about Satanists and social media, as well as Satanic baptisms. 00:00 - Intro 01:21 - The Satanic Bible: "Humanism is not a religion" 02:27 - Satanism is a religion. Non-theistic religions exist. Yes, really. 05:16 - Atheism is not a religion. Neither is monotheism. 06:18 - Dogma: Why the Boy Scouts is not a religion 08:32 - The Dogma of Satanism 10:44 - What do we mean by "Humanism" / Renaissance humanism 13:27 - Secular humanism 15:33 - Similarities: Atheism and Freethought 17:24 - How Satanism and secular humanism differ (myth of "The Greater God", etc.) 29:09 - Satanists on (or aren't on) social media 33:40 - Satanecdote: Spam from da Hood 35:35 - Getting a Satanic baptism 40:22 - Bill M. is Marq Torien?
This episode concludes our three-part series reviewing the intangible benefits of collaborative delivery. In this episode, our series host Jim Good (Jacobs) sits down with Paul Delphos (Burns and McDonnell) and Bill M'Coy (HDR) to discuss the the engineers perspectives on the collaborative delivery process.
To quote someone who got canceled - "baby, it's cold outside." Luckily we've been able to sample the latest movies and streaming shows to keep you warm. First there's "Origin" directed by Ava DuVernay. It tells the story of a real life journalist who investigated the unspoken system that has shaped America and chronicles how lives today are defined by a hierarchy of human divisions. If it sound heavy - it is. Niel Rosen caught up with the documentary "It Ain't Over" which chronicles the illustrious life and career of the baseball great, Yogi Berra. I'm told he played for the Yankees. For you streaming fans Bill McCuddy fills us in on "Fool Me Once" in which widowed mum Maya is disturbed by an image of her late husband captured on her toddler's nanny cam. It's based on a novel by Harlan Coben. Also streaming is the third season of "True Detective which stars Jodi Fosterand takes place in freezing Alaska. Then we've got "Lift" which is the latest Netflix action movie starring Kevin Hart. And Bill Bregoli tells us about the latest Jason Statham thriller "The Beekeeper" which is in theaters. Plus Neil and Bill M fill us in on the most revent award show which they take very seriously. So top off your window cleaner resevoir in the car and then throw a log on the fire and listen to us.
It's a strange time of year. People have taken down their holiday decorations and tossed their Christmas trees out to the curb. But there are some new movies, and there are some kind of old movies that are getting awards. Let's start with "Mean Girls." It was a new movie 20 years ago but this time they've added some songs and made it into a movie musical. Bill Bregoli was the only one of us brave enough to go see it and he'll tell what he thought. Then there's "Society of the Snow" based on the true story of what happened in 1972 when an airplane carrying a rugby team crashed on a glacier in the Andes. The few passengers who survive the crash find themselves in one of the world's toughest environments to survive."Wait a second," you're saying, "Wasn't there a movie about that same subject years ago. The one where they ate their dead." Yes, there were two in fact, but this new one is much different. Then Bill McCuddy and Neil Rosen tell you what they thought of the Golden Globe Awards last weekend and the recently announced SAG Award nominations. Bill M also fills us in on two new documentaries. There's "Sly" which is about Sylvester Stallone, and "Arnold," which follows the life of Arnold Schwarzenegger. And few you monster movie fans, Bill M tells us about "Monarch" on Apple TV+. So make sure you've picked up that tinsel that's on the floor and listen in,
Bill M - 12.23.23 (Friday 6 Pm Meeting) by Overeaters Anonymous East Bay Unity Intergroup
In this Podcast episode, we're honored to share the story of FDNY Chief William M. Feehan's leadership, service, and devotion to his family and the FDNY, compliments of insight from his son, FDNY Battalion Chief John Feehan, his grandson Firefighter Connor Davan, and former FDNY Fire Commissioner and friend, Daniel Nigro. FDNY Chief William Feehan—better known as Bill—was a knowledge center of the New York City Fire Department. Chief Bill Feehan was well-versed on a wide range of subjects and possessed exceptional leadership qualities. He was a “firefighter's chief” who held every rank in the FDNY and served the Department for more than 41 years. His command philosophy and leadership style were shaped by his love for the United States, New York City, the FDNY and its members, his Catholic faith and his devotion to his family. Chief Feehan was a strategic minded leader who balanced the necessity to innovate with an appreciation for the FDNY's special culture, storied past and human spirit. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Bill Feehan was a FDNY Deputy Commissioner. He'd retired from uniformed service several years before but continued to serve his beloved Department and City. In true Chief Feehan fashion, he responded to the World Trade Center attacks that morning, donning his helmet and turnout coat as he provided counsel to the Department's senior leaders such as Chief of Department Pete Ganci. Chief Feehan was one of the 343 FDNY members of who made the Supreme Sacrifice on 9/11, leaving behind an enduring mark on the Department and a legacy that continues to inspire many members in the FDNY today, most notably those members of his family who continue to lead and serve.
It's too darn hot - but luckily seeing movies or watching shows can be a great way to cool down. Bill Bregoli, who actually goes to theaters, went and saw "Meg 2: The Trench." Bill's a big proponent of OPAC (Other Peoples' Air Conditioning). And he'll let you know what he thought of the movie. Neil Rosen, on the other hand, stayed indoors to binge both seasons of "The Bear" and he also read "The Church of Baseball" which is all about the making of "Bull Durham." Bill McCuddy also curled up with his air conditioner to re-watch "Tre Detective." He also checked out "The River Wild" on Netflix which follows a pair of siblings who love but distrust each other as they embark on a white-water rafting trip with a small group. One of their friends from childhood turns out to be more dangerous than he appears. Bill M also watched a French mystery called "The Night of the 12th." And for you streaming series fans we've got the thrid season of "Reservation Dogs," the fourth season of the "Harley Quinn" animated series and the third season of "How To with John Wilson." So pour yourself a cold one and listen in!This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4137244/advertisement

My sound system loops them over and over again, Monday through Saturday. On Sunday I put on a playlist of religious music for the kids. Your biggest fan is my #1 goat, MayBelle. If I can figure it out, I will attach a picture of her. You might say I am writing you in her behalf. MayBelle really likes the lovely voices of women singers. Sometimes you catch her taking a pause to listen to an angelic voice. She will stand in the doorway of the barn, where the music is the loudest, and sway back and forth, just listening to the music. And sometimes a song will make MayBelle throw a hoof my way. MayBelle listens to your podcast while I am milking her. She normally stands peacefully; but when you play some punk rock Celtic music; the change in tone startles her and she starts kicking. So since you keep asking for feedback, here it comes. You might want to consider doing a shout - out before you start playing the more heavy, rock - and - roll music. Say something like - “Hey MayBelle, here comes a head banger!” This way she can go to her happy place for a while, or at least I get a cue to watch out for flying hooves. When I am not around the barn, I like to listen to your Pub Songs podcast. In fact I am listening to Sci - Fi Pub Songs Podcast #265 as I type this message. I don't play these podcasts in the paddock because some of the songs and stories have adult content that are not suitable for kids. {just kidding - maybe} A little more feedback. I really like the way you link the singers to your podcast. You introduced me to the Wicked Tinkers, Boston Blackhorn, Irish Rovers, Three Mile Stone – just to name a few. Your podcast makes it easy to find their websites and download songs for my eclectic collection of Celtic tunes. I even downloaded some of the headbangers that make MayBelle's ears bleed. You have given me and my goats so many hours of wonderful and delightful music. From all of us at MT Acres, we say – thank you, thank you, thank you......"
Bill is joining us as a very special guest bravely sharing his painful and traumatic journey. Bill's story begins in his infancy dealing with a mother who had postpartum depression. This evolved into a life of trauma that spanned every type of abuse possible, while also dealing with conflicting sexual identity, substance abuse, and more. Bill gets real and raw and does not hold back on why he was a traumatic drinker. He and Annie discuss the difference science and self-compassion can make on this journey of healing, the incredible power of the pause, and the impact The PATH had on Bill's journey. This podcast does touch on many issues dealing with the emotional, physical, sexual, and mental abuse that can be triggering to some individuals. Please proceed with caution if these issues cause you pain or strife. Bill M shares his experience, strength, and hope on Step 3 and how even after 15 years in the rooms of AA, he was still an untreated alcoholic. Until someone took him through the steps as laid out in the Big Book, he was "out of his mind". And now, the happy, joyous, and free life, full of serenity has pervaded his experience since then. Back in 2019 I was hosting another podcast called Journey Through Life, it was a long-form conversation/interview style podcast. It was not recovery related, although I was actively working my recovery. Duriing this time, I felt compelled by my Higher Power to do a series on the Journey Through Life podcast called Journey in Recovery. In this series, I interviewed 16 people over a 3 month period on each of the 12 Steps of Recovery. It was during this 3 month period that my own recovery walk was radically changed and my vision of what the Steps can do for anyone, anywhere, from any background was drastically opened up. Iqra Khalid was a 20 something brown Muslim woman with immigrant parents when she decided to run for the House of Commons in 2015. Even with an exceptional record as a lawyer and a human rights advocate, she put her name on the ballot ‘not really expecting to win'. But she won, not once but twice- from the riding of Mississauga Erin Mills- and she has never looked back since. She introduced for the much debated Bill M- 103- which asked the government to condemn Islamophobia and all forms of religious and racial discrimination. Why did this motion receive so much hate and resistance? How are things different now, 4 years later? Tune in to listen to this trailblazer as she talks about how advocacy and politics CAN be combined. Bonus question: What is the one secret Desi thing that MP Khalid does that not many people know about? :D Listen to find out! Let’s introduce our guest speaker for today, Bill M.Here is Bill M in his own words: I got booze sober in 1987. Had what is probably considered the ‘pink cloud’ phase for a few years but at about 4-5 years started to feel not right. I struggled for the next 5 years with mild anxiety but by 10 years sober, I suffered from severe anxiety which led to a nervous breakdown at 15 years sober. At that low point, I met a man who took me through the steps as set forth in the Big Book and am living anxiety free since.Welcome to the Reco12 Speaker Meeting. We are an organization whose addictions include alcohol, drugs, lust and sex, food and gambling, just to name a few. We come together from all places, faiths and backgrounds to learn the similarities of addiction and to gain tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path. “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.” - Oscar WildeLike millions of others, I was hit hard by the tragic news that dominated this week’s news headlines. As I cycled through alternating waves of shock, grief, and curiosity, going down a wormhole of Kobe’s life, I was suddenly struck by an overwhelming, uneasy sense of my own impending mortality. If someone like Kobe - who had the accomplishments, the wealth, and the adoration of millions of fans - could not achieve immortality, what chance did I have?A chill ran down my spine, “I am going to die.” I thought helplessly. ‘Just like every other human being on this earth, I am also going to die.’ This is the one fight over which I have absolutely no control - that no one can control - and in a weird way it made me feel grateful for my life, connected to every other human who ever lived, dreamed, loved, and died. I don’t know if anyone is ever truly ready for death, but I do know that we are all hurtling towards the same destination at a rate of 60 min/hour, whether we like it or not. As they say:“Life’s a wild ride, and none of us are getting out of here alive.”There’s a common thought experiment, ‘If you had only one year left to live, what would you do?’ Often though, our reckless answers to this question would be unrealistic for a sober day-to-day existence that must take into consideration longer term consequences. So I adjusted it and asked myself:If you only had five years left to live, what would you do differently?Five years is an interesting length of time because it’s still long enough to accomplish something significant, long enough that you have to consider medium-term implications of your actions, but short enough that you tangibly feel the urgency. I want to invite you to take a moment to consider this question for yourself, and if you feel so inclined, I’d love to hear your thoughts in this discussion thread: My own answer to this question surprised me. It took a few days to articulate it because I had to allow my labels to fall back and differentiate between ‘Is my ego speaking or is my true spirit speaking?’ And it came out in a waterfall of thoughts that I shared with my best friend over text. While I considered editing this, I thought it’d be more powerful to share in its raw form. A text to my best friend: “The first things that occurred to me is what I would stop.... and I started crying when I realized this, weirdly I’m crying now as I type this... I would stop pushing so hard, I would stop fighting against the world - like OMG I fight and push myself so hard - and for once I’d like to just give myself a break and just enjoy life… and this made think, fuck do I even enjoy life? or am I running through it, fighting some imaginary competitor for some imaginary prize? And I’m so, SO tired.…and then I thought, Who am I trying to prove something to? Why do I always need to prove something, that I’m better, faster, stronger? First, I would let this part of me go, I think. And focus on letting love in, on savoring things like amazing bites of food, traveling to awesome places, watching incredible movies with people I loved who would want to talk about them after, and dissect the themes, and how it makes them think about their own life.I would find time each day to read phenomenal books, especially ones that had withstood the test of time - and ideally I’d have someone to discuss it with after as well. I would just learn, and grow and enrich myself with incredible stories... through books, movies, as well as with other fuck yes people. I would take less pictures, maybe just have a Polaroid so that each picture has more meaning… I would take more short videos so I could relive especially great moments. (Essentially, I’d be recording moments for my own joy and not for social media) I would stop putting up with bullshit and just leave if something wasn’t bringing me joy, I would be very protective of my time - who I give it to, no more “coffee to pick your brain,” I would really ignore all the fuckboys and anyone who is playing around. I would not put up with disrespect in any form. Instead I would seek people out who believed in respect, kindness, depth, and have a similar sense of wonder, and way of living life.I would take more mushrooms and just stare at the sky and hold hands with my partner.I would immediately throw out the majority of my stuff, clothes, anything that didn’t bring me joy and redecorate my room so every day I would come home and it would be beautiful and airy and me! I would write in my gratitude journal AND my self love journal at the little alter of life I would erect at the side of my bed, and actually mean and feel what I was truly grateful for in the world and in myself. I would get up early to catch the sunrise, nap in the middle of the day, and have incredible long dinners full of wine and cocktails. I would always be warm (no more cold weather).I think if I left one book that affected people long after I died, and started a school that helped thousands of children - and made a contribution to how people thought about their lives, helped them live a bit more free and happier, I’d feel I made my mark… But even if that didn’t happen, I would want to live a life where I felt truly enriched and that I had made a positive impact on those I spent time with. I guess what I’m really getting at and what I’ve known deep down already is that, happiness for me lies in my freedom - to grow, explore, live unencumbered by so many societal things I feel weighted down by now. And perhaps in writing this whole thing, I’ve just realized that I need to make some major changes... starting with throwing out all the things in my room that are making me unhappy, to create room in my life to read, write, and just be warm.”How would you live differently if you only had five years to live?🎧 GLOW Episode 15: Healing From TragedyOn this week’s Global League of Women Podcast, I talk to renowned holistic health coach Beth Nydick about why it can feel so shameful to be vulnerable - especially as we become more successful in your career - and why ultimately, we must embrace it as the first step towards healing.
