Sollte Miso Against All Odds gewinnen, passiert Folgendes: Er wäre erstmals beste(r) Österreicher(in) im Tennis.

• SUVs y Crossovers: Volkswagen Touareg, Porsche Cayenne. • Furgonetas: Volkswagen Transporter T4. • Monovolúmenes: SEAT Alhambra, Volkswagen Sharan. • Deportivos: Audi TT, Volkswagen New Beetle RSi. ¿He acertado o no? ¿o no?

Nick Rearick's Skyline had already been imported and was quite possibly the cheapest R32 in the US at the time. He embarked on a journey over three winters to restore, upgrade and customize the car similar to an old school classic. The 1990 Skyline R32 was completely torn apart, gutted and put back together painstakingly all by Nick in his garage until it came out as his dream car.

In this live podcast, we discuss the current R410A phase-down schedule and a review of the properties of the two via low GWP refrigerants R32 and R454B. YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/InsightPartnersHVACTV Insight Partners Website: www.insightusa.com Connect with me on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tony-mormino View current line card: https://www.insightusa.com/manufacturers Connect to Insight Partners on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/insightusa Tony Mormino at Insight Partners: tmormino@insightusa.com We talk about the status of the current EPA refrigerant regulations, including the EPA's NOPR (notice of proposed rule), the critical milestones for R410A equipment manufacturing, and the current R410A phase downtime schedule. We also show the properties of the two via R410A alternatives, R32 and R454B. In particular, we show the meaning of A2L refrigerants as explained in ASHRAE 34-2022, Designation and Safety Classification of Refrigerants, which is a shorthand way of naming refrigerants and assigning safety classifications based on toxicity and flammability data. We delve into the benefits and drawbacks of each low GWP refrigerant, exploring factors such as its global warming potential, energy efficiency, and flammability. Refrigerants play a critical role in the functioning of air conditioning and refrigeration systems. They are responsible for transferring heat from the indoor or outdoor space to the refrigeration unit, allowing for temperature control. However, the impact of refrigerants on the environment is a growing concern. Many commonly used refrigerants have high global warming potential (GWP), contributing to climate change. In recent years, there has been a push to develop and adopt refrigerants with lower GWP, leading to the emergence of new refrigerants with unique properties. Two such refrigerants are R32 and R454B. R32 is a pure hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant, while R454B is a blend of HFC and hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) refrigerants. While these refrigerants offer lower GWP, they have unique properties that distinguish them from each other. Both have similar performance to R410A. Both have a similar performance to each other. Both are classified as A2L, mildly flammable refrigerants. Both have a lower GWP than R410A. R32 is a single-component refrigerant. It is a mildly flammable A2L refrigerant, meaning it can ignite in the presence of an ignition source but only under certain conditions. R32 has a low GWP of 675, making it an attractive option for environmentally conscious companies. R454B is a zeotropic blend of HFC and HFO refrigerants, 69% R32 and 31% R1234yf. It is a mildly flammable A2L refrigerant with a low GWP of 466. R454B was developed as a potential replacement for high-GWP refrigerants like R410A. For those of us who have been around awhile, you may be very familiar with R22 and even R12. Past Transitions were driven by Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP).
In this video, we're going to predict and reconcile the auction results of a rare 2004 Volkswagen R32 on Bring a Trailer, and you can play along like the Price is Right hosted by John Polnik and Michael Deeb. But the question is, why would anyone pay top dollar for an old Volkswagen? And how much does the fact that this car only has 100 actual miles add to its value? This R32 is finished in Reflex Silver Metallic over black leather, and it's powered by a 3.2-liter VR6 engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The listing boasts that this car is one of only 5,000 examples produced for the US market, and it's essentially brand new with only 100 miles on the odometer. It comes with a clean Carfax report, original window sticker, and all the original books and manuals. But will all these features and low mileage be enough to command a six-figure price tag? And how much demand is there for a 17-year-old Volkswagen, even one as rare and desirable as the R32? Join us as we analyze the market trends, historical data, and buyer psychology to predict the auction outcome of this R32.
In this episode, we discuss the impending phase-out of R410A refrigerant. As the industry shifts toward more environmentally friendly alternatives, we compare the physical properties of two viable replacements: R32 and R454B. We delve into the benefits and drawbacks of each refrigerant, exploring factors such as its global warming potential, energy efficiency, and flammability. Join us as we explore the complex world of refrigerants and the exciting innovations driving the HVAC industry forward. Nissan Skylines are one of the most popular cars from the 90s and 2000s for modification, but throughout all those years we've never seen one quite like this.Use ‘PODCAST75' for $75 off your first HPA course here: https://hpcdmy.co/hpa-tuned-inCapable of 975HP at 28PSI, Dennis O'Malley had the XR32, a Ford Barra powered R32, dialed back to 850HP at 23PSI for this year's Turbosmart Flying 500 at the World Time Attack Challenge in order to make the car a little more ‘user friendly', but unfortunately didn't get a good run due to some ongoing fuel pressure issues. The Micks Motorsport-built Barra runs Siemens Deka 2400cc injectors, Haltech Elite 2500 ECU, Ford Falcon T56 box with S1 Shifter, forged internals and a Plazmaman Plenum is used along with a 6 piece cast manifold, but due to the nature of the swap pretty much everything else has been custom made to fit.The RB26 and RB30 platforms are a solid choice when it comes to making good power with driveability, but the original owner of this R32 GTST turned GTR Nissan Skyline wanted to do something a little bit different, and a 4L Ford ‘Barra' engine was squeezed in and a RWD only setup used due to packaging issues. The car is originally a GTST, but a GTR rear end has been fitted along with GTR sills and front panelsThe traction issues discussed are in part due to what was supposed to only be a temporary turbo setup of a Precision 6766 turbo with an undersized rear housing which narrows the usable rev range, but there are future plans to remedy this issue and also fit some bigger rubber under the rear at the same time to get to power the ground.BARRA: For those unaware, the Barra is a 4L DOHC, VCT equipped inline 6 produced in and by Ford Australia originally for their ‘Barramundi' BA Falcon and SX Territory model lines, and although nowhere near as common, a V8 variant was also produced. A turbocharged XR6 Falcon variant of the I6 Barra also came from the factory, but at 326HP it was well short of the 975HP capable build here.If want to learn how to tune EFI start here instantly, and for free: https://hpcdmy.co/tuneb
Diversified mining company African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) on Thursday paid higher dividends, reiterated its full commitment to climate change mitigation, and outlined the start of its intended shift towards the implementation of renewable energy. In affirming the Johannesburg Stock Exchange-listed company's alignment to climate change mitigation and meeting the challenges confronting the environment and humankind, ARM executive chairperson Dr Patrice Motsepe told the presentation covered by Mining Weekly: “As a company, we're committed to combating climate change.” (Also watch attached Creamer Media video.) ARM is a member of the International Council of Metals and Minerals (ICMM), which Motsepe highlighted as an outstanding association of the world's largest mining companies with world-class commitments to environmental protection and climate change mitigation – “and we're very happy with the progress that's being made there”, Motsepe added after declaring a final dividend of R20 a share to bring the total financial year (FY) 2022 dividend to R32 a share, up on the R30 share of FY2021. The amount to be paid is R4 493-million. “We're committed to paying dividends while pursuing quality growth and maintaining a robust financial position,” Motsepe added. Following a significant increase in operating profits at the ARM Coal operations amid cash generated from operations rising by R706-million to R8 508-million, ARM Coal loans owing to Glencore Operations South Africa have been fully settled, with Motsepe describing ARM's transitioning out of coal as being “part of the responsible and really focused transition to clean energy . to make the world a better place”. Significantly higher export coal prices drove a R1 178-million increase in ARM Coal headline earnings to R928-million, compared with a R250-million headline loss in FY2021. ARM CEO Mike Schmidt told the presentation that ARM's commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters were aligned with the principles as set out by ICMM. “In terms of climate change, ARM aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. We are currently busy with a number of initiatives and introducing various pathways to deliver on these commitments,” Schmidt added. In response to Mining Weekly's question relating to ARM Platinum signing an agreement for the supply of 100 MW of solar energy, ARM Platinum CE Thando Mkatshana said the 100 MW would address 33% of the division's total electricity consumption in the next three years. “We are also considering further upgrades in terms of other options to look at reducing our power supply from Eskom to renewables,” said Mkatshana. ARM Ferrous CE André Joubert added: “In our operations in the Northern Cape, we're well advanced with a feasibility study in terms of also supplying our mines with solar power and collectively we're looking at just over 80 MW.” Environmental impact assessments are underway to open the way for the building of the solar plant. “Ours will be slightly different. They will be what we call ‘behind the meter' installations because currently the Eskom distribution network in the Northern Cape doesn't have capacity to yield power at the moment, but we're making very good progress in that regard,” said Joubert. Schmidt said a big component was reducing ARM's dependency on diesel. “Over the next five or seven years, we will look at alternative trucking methods, because of the prohibitive cost of diesel and also from a carcinogenic point of view.” In that regard, battery electric frontend loaders and battery electric haul trucks had already been deployed at the group's Black Rock mine in the Northern Cape's Kalahari manganese field. “We've got three of each of those already deployed underground and we're testing them to see how efficient they are, and they are going to save diesel and also the heat that diesel trucks generate underground, which ultimately then would require less ventilation and through that more energy savings as...
00:00 - Show Open - Mitsubishi Galant VR4 - Part 2Today we're going to talk about what to look for when buying a Galant VR4 and what kinds of issues these cars have. Since there weren't that many imported to the US, we will also talk about some alternate used AWD sports sedans and hatchbacks with similar performance and pricing that you might want to check out if you aren't able to find a Galant VR4 that's right for you. 01:20 - Finding A Galant VR4 TodayBased on the number of Galant VR4s imported to the use (3,009) and its age, these cars will not be easy to find - especially in good to excellent condition. One option is to consider buying a Japanese Domestic Manufacturer or JDM version of the Galant VR4. Under the 25-year rule, you can import one from Japan or Australia or New Zealand to the US (or buy one from a dealer that imports such cars. But keep in mind that it is a right-hand drive car and the exotic feel of sitting on the wrong side of the car might here in the US may last only a few weeks. After that you might be thinking you made a mistake, so before you buy, ask your doctor if right-hand drive is right for you. For my money, if I was going to buy and drive a right-hand drive car here, I would make it something I could not get a version of the US (e.g. a an R32 - or soon - an R34 Skyline GTR, or maybe a gull-wing Autozam AZ1). I would put up with right-hand drive for one of those cars. 05:30 - Problems You Might Encounter With a Galant VR4In my 16-year ownership experience, I found the Galant VR4 to be a very bullet-proof car, but these are all 30+ year old vehicles now, so some typical issues come with any car of this vintage. Anything that rotates or involves friction eventually wears out - this is the story of all used cars, so not a surprise. Idle fluctuation - some Galant VR4s will experience idle "hunting" as they age - mine did. Throttle body cleaning seemed to help.FYI - the counter shaft belt broke on my car one time. I'm not sure if this is a model issue, or just something that happened only to my GVR4, but it can cause major engine damage if it knocks the timing off a tooth or worse, it brakes the timing belt. That did not happen in my case, but as a precaution I had the timing belt replaced when the counter shaft belt was replaced. Again, FYI.Be careful when selecting aftermarket suspension parts - I bought some springs and shocks that were punishing, so choose wisely my young Padawan. Transmission - I never had an issue with mine, but I always treated it with respect (avoid drag race no-lift shifts). If abused syncros can become graunchy. (is that a word?... is now, I guess)Diodes in the ECU can leak and cause running/drivability issues. This is a real thing - I had this experience twice during my 126,000-mile ownership experience. Luckily the fix was relatively simple and the guy who did the fix was cheap. Your mileage may varyRust is not your friend - This applies to any older car, and the GVR4 is no exception. Just avoid the pain of rusted examples. The Galant VR4's 4G63T engine is robust, but... it is not forgiving if you don't do maintenance items like the timing belt/water pump service on time and within the mileage limit. Don't wreck your Galant VR4! Some body parts can still be sourced for the E39A Galant VR4 through wrecking yards, GalantVR4.org, and possibly Ebay, Craigslist, FB Marketplace, etc., but it is not easy. 17:45 - Cars Similar To The Galant VR4 That You Might ConsiderCelica Alltrac Turbo - Two versions were sold in the US. The focus of ferrochrome company Merafe Resources in 2022 will be on renewable energy projects, along with efficient operations, cash preservation and well-ordered capital allocation, CEO Zanele Matlala said on Tuesday. The year 2021 has been one of spectacular recovery for the Glencore Merafe Pooling and Sharing Venture. In announcing its highest profit after tax since the formation of the venture in 2004, the JSE-listed Merafe provided new insight into the PGMs-from-chrome-tailings project at the Kroondal mine, and also outlined three distinct areas of green energy development involving: the conversion of on-site offgas from the venture's smelters into clean electricity; on-site 'behind-the-meter' solar and wind projects capable of generating 150 MW of green electricity; and the evaluation of quotations for the phased execution of up to 800 MW of virtual wind and solar power purchase agreements. China continued to dominate stainless steel production, accounting for about 57% of global output. Ferrochrome demand in 2021 mirrored global stainless steel production, with Indonesia slightly decreasing China's dominant share of global output. World ferrochrome production increased by 15% to 14.4-million tonnes, with most of the production growth coming from South Africa (32%) and India (30%). Chrome ore imports into China increased by 5% to 15-million tonnes, with South Africa making up 80% of the chrome ore sold into China. The average ferrochrome prices received in 2021 were around $1.08/lb compared with $0.72/lb in 2020. Chrome ore prices, on the other hand, only increased modestly, with upper group two prices averaging about $140/t, compared with $129/t in 2020. Merafe FD Ditabe Chocho reported a 75% year-on-year increase in ferrochrome revenue and a 33% increase in chrome-ore revenue. “We also accounted for small revenue arising from PGMs concentrate sold from December 2021,” said Chocho. The processing plant being built to recover PGMs from chrome waste has a capacity of 21 000 t a month. To date, R32-million has been spent on developing it and a further R23-million is due to be spent this year to take the plant to completion. The PGMs concentrate it produces is being sold to PGMs customers that have smelting capacity. “We believe the PGMs plant will be fully commissioned in quarter two. We've started to treat material and we are seeing benefits from that,” said Glencore Alloys CEO Japie Fullard, who declined to give the grade of PGMs produced. “We do have an offtake. You will understand that the chrome content in the PGMs concentrate is fairly important and we do have an agreement with a PGMs producer that we are selling that product into the market,” he added. Chocho reported that the financial return on the PGMs project would be sufficiently higher than Merafe's weighted average cost of capital of 11.4% after tax, with a four-year payback based on current pricing assumptions. DECARBONISATION IMPORTANT Fullard described the reduction of Scope 2 emissions specifically as being “very important”. Agreements had already been signed with suppliers for the conversion of on-site offgas into electricity, Fullard said in response to Integrated Managed Investments portfolio manager Leo Altini. With pilot circuits being run, the operation was well on its way to achieving the best efficiencies in the turning of carbon dioxide to electricity. “That's the first focus area for us and there's a lot of work we're doing there,” said Fullard during the question session covered by Mining Weekly. Capital investment in the second behind-the-meter solar and wind project greening area would commence within the next year, and quotations were being evaluated for the various virtual power purchase agreement contracts, for which multiple financial instruments were under consideration. It was reported that Rustenburg smelters Furnace 5 is back in operation while the Lydenburg smelter remained on care and maintenance. The foreseen benefits of develo...

It's almost clichéd to say SA's municipalities are poorly run. Virtually every Ratings Afrika and Auditor-General survey reminds us of this. The evidence is clear for all to see in the state of our pavements, roads, water and power outages, and signs in disrepair….which all paint a grim picture of local government's deteriorating financial management. Releasing the report, titled "Not much to go around, yet not the right hands at the till”, the late Auditor General Kimi Makwetu revealed that Only 8% of municipalities received a clean audit, and on average they took 180 days to pay creditors. Irregular expenditure exceeded R32 billion – up from R24 billion in the previous year. On a national level, we may applaud the signs of tentative turnaround, but it is at municipal level that the battles will be fought. Against this backdrop one wonders what choice voters have to staunch the bleeding come the 1st of November? To discuss this burning question Michael Avery is joined by Mike Schussler, independent economist at economists.co.za; Charl Kocks, a director of Ratings Afrika; John Dludlu, CEO of the Small Business Institute & Natasha Doren, Senior Consultant at Consulta

State-owned electricity utility Eskom argued on Thursday that it required additional revenue of R23-billion for the upcoming financial year to remain a going concern and told the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) that further tariff increases, beyond the 5.22% already approved for next year, were required to enable it to migrate to financial sustainability. Nersa is currently hosting public hearings as part of its deliberations on how to implement a regulatory clearing account (RCA) balance that had already been approved, as well as how it should respond to supplementary applications by Eskom arising from two recent adverse court rulings. On November 5, the hearings focused exclusively on the implementation plan for the liquidation of the R13.27-billion RCA balance arising from a determination made earlier in the year for the 2019 financial year. The RCA is a claw-back mechanism that is used to adjust the tariff, which is set ahead of time using cost and sales assumptions, to the actual costs and sales that materialised during the period. For the 2019 financial year, Eskom applied to recoup R27-billion and was granted R13.27-billion. Later in the month, the regulator will consider two supplementary applications arising from court rulings relating to the RCA balances approved for the 2015, 2016 and 2017 financial years and the review and setting aside of Nersa’s revenue decision for the 2019 financial year. Eskom is applying for a further R26-billion in RCA balances for the three years, having already been granted R32.6-billion, and R5-billion for disallowed costs in the 2019 revenue determination. In parallel, Eskom is seeking an execution order for the automatic reintroduction of a R23-billion equity injection in line with a July 28 judgment, which found the Nersa acted illegally when it removed a R69-billion government equity injection from Eskom’s allowable revenue. The utility argues that the order should not be negated by Nersa’s appeal, as the regulator had already conceded on the merits and was only disputing whether the court erred in not remitting the decision back to it for implementation. Presenting during the virtual hearings, Eskom GM for regulation Hasha Tlhotlhalemaje indicated that Eskom would not seek to secure all these amounts on April 1, 2021, but that an additional R23-billion was required. She argued that all other levers – including shareholder support, cost cutting, recovery of outstanding debt and illegal payments and a reprioritisation of capital expenditure – had been exhausted, leaving only the lever of tariff increases to facilitate its financial stabilisation. The hearing was confined to the implementation of the R13.27-billion RCA balance, which Tlhotlhalemaje argued should be liquidated in full from April 1, 2021. However, she used the platform to make the case for a larger R23-billion revenue increase, noting that, besides the R13.27-billion balance, there were several other RCA amounts that had not yet been implemented and could be implemented. Even without the implementation of the additional RCA amount, Eskom’s request for the full R13.27-billion to be liquidated next year would translate to an additional 6.5% hike, or an overall increase of about 11.5%. The Nersa panel overseeing the hearings, which are being chaired by fulltime regulatory member for electricity Nhlanhla Gumede, pushed back, however, with several panel members questioning whether the hike being sought would not retard South Africa’s recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. The panel was also not happy with Eskom conflating outstanding determinations that would flow as a result of recent court cases with the specific decision it needed to make regarding the liquidation of the R13.27-billion RCA balance. Nersa would make its determination in this regard later in the month and would accept written comments from stakeholders up until November 13.

JSE-listed precious metal miner Sibanye-Stillwater on August 14 hosted a memorial lecture honouring the 44 people who were killed in the Marikana shooting tragedy in August 2012. Sibanye CEO Neal Froneman says the shadow cast by the Marikana tragedy remains to this day and adds that the incident was an inflection point in South Africa and in the mining industry. Sibanye acquired platinum miner Lonmin, which was the owner of the mine at the time, in June 2019. The Marikana massacre involved the most lethal use of force by South African security forces against civilians since the advent of the country’s democracy. The shootings took place on what was the 25-year anniversary of a nationwide South African miners’ strike. The Marikana massacre started as a strike at the mine owned by Lonmin in the Marikana area, close to Rustenburg, but turned into a violent incident between the South African Police Service, Lonmin security and members of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) on the one side and striking employees on the other. Thirty-four mineworkers were killed on August 16, 2012, at Lonmin Marikana operations, when the police shot them at a koppie near the Nkaneng informal settlement. A further 78 were injured and hundreds arrested. The workers, led by rock-drill operators, had waged a week-long wildcat strike demanding a minimum monthly salary of R12500. They rejected the NUM, the dominant union at the time, and elected a workers committee to represent them in putting their demands to Lonmin. In total 44 people were killed during the violent strike – ten people, including two Lonmin security officers and two policemen, had been killed a few days earlier. Froneman says Sibanye has a vision for the renewal of Marikana, and by delivering tangible and sustainable programmes for the benefit of local communities around Marikana, a new legacy of healing and hope can emerge. Over the years following the tragedy, Lonmin implemented wide-ranging changes based on the shortcomings identified by the Farlam Commission and industry best practice. Steps by Lonmin included establishing the 1608 Memorial Trust, the employment of family members of deceased employees and the donation of land and completion of a hostel conversion process. Sibanye continues its support through the trust, which supports about 141 beneficiaries at various education levels. To date, the trust has spent R32-million on educational assistance. From Sibanye’s side, the company has handed over six homes to widows of those who were killed. The homes have been renovated or newly acquired, while a further 19 houses will be handed over before the end of this year. Sibanye also continues to provide employment to the spouses or a chosen family member of those who died during the massacre. Speaking during the memorial lecture, Archbishop Thabo Makgoba said the Marikana massacre is an important event to remember so that the mistakes that led to the devastating events between August 12 and 16, 2012, are never repeated again. He stated that South Africa continues to be plagued by high levels of corruption, racism and gender-based violence, which are as destructive as a pandemic and must too be resisted. “The societal issues around Marikana are the very history of South Africa, to which we must join forces to change.” Froneman mentioned that the company decided to host a memorial lecture because the only way to move forward as a company, an industry and as a society, is to "reconcile with our past and effectively deal with a lack of trust by remembering what went wrong and have reconciliation of those events, and never allow them to happen again”. South African advocate and former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela commented that the Marikana massacre happened because “we forgot to remember our ugly, injust past and the legacy it had left with us. “We forgot to heal and we forgot to focus on renewal. When we commemorate Marikana, we say ordin...

¿qué no me gustan?

While the rest of the world is getting in supermarket fights over toilet paper, life at Just One Lap carries on. Lesego, who is only 24, is ready to start their investment journey. This week we hold their hand through their first tax-free purchase. We explain what tax-free accounts are, what ETFs are and why we like to go for a diverse, global investment. If the investment world is new to you, you don't want to miss this episode. The video below is a deep-dive into tax-free investments, presented by Chuckles himself. If you're buying ETFs at the moment, enjoy the sale. Subscribe to our RSS feed here. Subscribe or rate us in iTunes. Win of the week: Lesego I am completely clueless regarding tax free savings accounts. I went onto the easy equities app but I have no idea which ETF so even select or how everything actually works because I would like to invest before the end of the financial year. I listened to the podcast and they mentioned it won't be enough having just a tax free account so I would like to open a retirement annuity fund as well but have no cooking clue how to even delete a company for that. Jaco Let's assume you are 35, earning R240,000 and have R33,000 pa to contribute to a TFSA or RA. Assuming fees and growth are the same, there's no difference between the two, since both funds grow tax-free until withdrawal. If you reinvest the tax saving from the RA back into the RA, the RA value will naturally be higher at the end of the term due to the additional contributions. The higher amount will give you a bigger savings pot to draw an income from. Is the higher savings amount available at retirement offset by the income tax payable in retirement on income? You need to look at the tax saving on the contributions and the tax payable on the income. Tax saving on contributions: A 35-year-old earning R240 000 pa will have a marginal tax rate of 26%. The tax saving/deduction on the R33 000 contribution is R8 580 (tax saving = contribution*marginal tax rate). The tax saving is 26%, which is equal to the marginal tax rate of 26%. So on contributions, your return on the saving of R33 000 is R8 580 (26%) Income tax payable: At retirement age 60, if you keep your income at R240 000, your marginal tax rate will still be 26%. But the tax you pay on your retirement income will be taxed at your effective tax rate. A marginal tax rate of 26% is equal to an effective tax rate of 13.55% (the rate at which you pay tax). The effective tax rate is lower than the marginal tax rate due to the rebates and sliding tax scales. So the "cost" on your retirement income of R240 000 is R32 512 or 13.55% (R32 512/R240000). Based on the above, the tax saving on RA contributions is 26% or R41 580 (R33000+R8 580), and the tax payable on retirement income is 13.55% or R32 512. Because the tax saving is > the tax payable, contributing to an RA is net-net positive. I recommend if your marginal tax rate is above the tax-free threshold, and you are happy with Regulation 28 to first contribute to an RA. The higher your marginal tax rate, the bigger the tax-saving, the bigger the benefit of contributing to an RA. If you have liquidity problems, earning an income below the tax-free threshold or want to increase your offshore/equity exposure, the TFSA is the better option. Joshua What is the practical difference in taking money offshore using Interactive Brokers vs using EasyEquities USD Platform? Do you suggest opening an offshore bank account and is this possible? The issue with the local banks offerings, for example FNB's linked Global account, is that interest is only earned at around 0.5%. Ollie In episode #178 you considered the options for a listener who was planning to move to the Netherlands. One of the options canvassed was the potential of leaving money in a TFSA in the event of a market decline prior to emigration. One element of this approach not considered, is that the overseas jurisdiction may consider the account taxable, meaning that the tax-free benefit of saving through a TFSA will be negated from the moment that the person migrates to the new jurisdiction. This varies on a country by country basis but should probably be considered by anyone before planning on leaving money in a South African investment vehicle whilst living abroad. Innes Since I am a little risk averse given how high developed markets are - I decided to buy some of this NFGovi ETF in my TFSA (about 25%) to give it some more diversification and less risk (and to hopefully receive a better return than cash/interest due to it being linked to bonds). However, looking at the price graph over the last 6 months - the return has been the flattest thing I've ever seen. And the 5 year historical return looked so promising and consistent when I was deciding to invest! I thought that bonds (and bond ETFs) were supposed to be “more certain/safer” than equities and have a better return than cash. Why do you think the return for the govi has been so flat of late? Do you think this would continue to be flat if SA is downgraded to junk status? I know you referred to the Ashburton 1200 as one of your favourite ETFs - would there be a certain bond or bond etf you would recommend and why? Are bonds or bond ETFs maybe a waste of time given their low (and not so certain) returns? Maybe I should be buying bonds and not bond ETFs? What platform would you recommend using to buy bonds? (If you would recommend them at all). Hugo I love the innovation behind the product, one which will hopefully create a revolution in the investment domain. I am a bit underwhelmed though with the fee structure of the product during the initial build-up phase of the portfolio. There are current providers who can offer RAs with fees less than 1.5%, (10X and Sygnia come to mind) from the first rand invested. Sygnia does there Skeleton 70 product for example at 0.55% all in. Why not invest with a cheaper provider until you reach an amount where Outvest become cheaper, then make the switch? For example: R1 – R 818 000 at Sygnia = 0.55% / annum R818 000 @ 0.55% = R4500 (Outvest cap) R 818 000 to infinity at Outvest = 0.55% (decreasing to 0.2%) We have to assume that the funds invested in are of course all the same – and I think we can argue that Reg28 investments, whether aggressive or moderate or low risk, will all more or less perform the same. Am I missing something? Eleanore I would like to transfer my RA from Allan Gray to Sygnia. Both Ag & Sygnia's forms ask about a unit transfer. I'm not sure what to select. Assuming a unit transfer is possible in this case (for a transfer from AG Balanced Fund to Sygnia Skeleton Balanced 70 Fund), should I select this? Which is best, a cash or unit transfer? I don't want to make a mistake and diminish my Retirement savings at this point due to a transfer mishap. Robin I received an Insurance payout which I have placed in an Investec Fixed deposit, drawing a compound interest of around 7.5%. We've bought two apartments off-plan in Cape Town, which will only be ready for handover towards the end of 2022. I've made upfront payments of 25% and 50% respectively on the apartments. These funds are sitting in the Conveyancers Trust Account drawing a 7.8% compounded interest per year. I am unable to touch this. Would it be better to move the money that is sitting in my Investec account into one ETF or a group of ETFs for three years. Or should I hold these funds where they are at the moment? My feeling was to keep it in a secure environment so I will be in a position to pay off the properties completely, and then draw rental income. However, the income derived from the Investec investment will be taxable, which will be lumped together with my other SA rental based income. Together the total income will be around R320K for the year. Should I put the R320K into my RA? When the time comes to settle the payment on the apartments at the end of 2022 I'll draw from my Unit Trust Investment to settle the difference, or repatriate funds from my overseas investment. If I keep it in the Investec fixed deposit I will end up paying around R63,853.00 in tax. One of your listeners from China (Podcast #169) was inquiring about where he can invest using Euros or USD. As an expat I use Internaxx - based in Luxembourg - https://en.internaxx.com where I buy my international ETFs and stocks. I trust this will help your listener (sorry I don't recall his name I was listening while walking). Steven noticed we prefer ETFs to unit trusts and wants to know why. Eugene is keen on opening a TFSA for his spouse. He's not keen on using EE, so he wants to know who else we can recommend.
Our first guest (Renzo) joins us and we talk about Audi and their future, including their new line-up and things to come.

TechCentral — In this episode of the podcast, Duncan McLeod interviews Intergreatme co-founder and CEO Luke Warner about how the technology start-up managed a R32-million fundraising round using crowdfunding platform Uprise Africa. Described as an “emergent regtech player”, Intergreatme wants to create a world where consumers no longer have to fill out forms. The company, which has already secured deals with local banks and telecommunications operators, hopes to remove the pain for processes such as Fica in financial services and Rica in telecoms. In the podcast, Warner talks about some of the implementations it’s been involved in, how it secures consumers’ private information and its expansion plans after the successful crowdfunding exercise. He explains how the company went about the crowdfunding to ensure it was successful and offers advice to other start-ups wanting to use this mechanism to raise capital instead of traditional venture capital or private equity. Integreatme attracted over 400 investors through Uprise Africa, though it also received five R5-million investments, making up the bulk of the R32-million raised. Many of those that invested were black women, raising the company’s black economic empowerment profile, something Warner hopes will help it work more closely with the public sector. Don’t miss the discussion!
Tax rebates, bonuses and inheritances really throw us for a loop. Most of us have every cent of our salary allocated to some higher purpose, but the moment we find ourselves with a big hunk of cash, we get in our own heads. We all know what we should do with the money, except because this is magical unicorn money we don't. We get questions about lump sum investments so often that we decided it's time to devote an entire episode to it. In short: the math says invest it all at once as soon as possible. If your emotions tell you to do otherwise, however, you should probably pay attention to them first. We talk about our friend Hendrik's blog tigersonagoldenleash.co.za in this episode. Andrew I just received 10 months worth of salary as a bonus. I currently have money invested in my portfolio. I'm trying to decide how to go about investing my bonus. Should I chuck the entire amount in now? (Keep in mind my TFSA is maxed out for 2018, and I plan on investing R33 000 on 1 March) or should I average it out over a few months? Also keep in mind that I have no debt. Win of the week: Nadia I listened to the show about my question and I just want to say thanks a million! You guys helped a lot with my decision and I have decided not to get involved with Forex trading. I first need to focus on my TFSA and make sure I understand all the ETFs I have chosen to invest in. Subscribe to our RSS feed here. Subscribe or rate us in iTunes. David Love the show. I have a question for you relating to picking a Global ETF. I have an Easy Equities Account and have access to investing in ETFs listed on the NYSE. I was looking at the Vanguard Total World Stock ETF on the USD account and comparing it to the Ashburton 1200 on the ZAR account. The TER is significantly cheaper for the Vanguard ETF – 0.1% vs. 0.45%. The weighting of the constituents of each ETF are quite similar although the Vanguard has over 8,000 stocks where the Ashburton has over 1,200 stocks which makes it attractive to have more exposure globally. My feeling is that in the long run, it's probably worth moving all my investment offshore (into USD) into the Vanguard ETF if I follow the concept of one ETF to rule them all because of the low cost of running the ETF. What risks other than a strengthen Rand or having a Will in place in the USA to transfer the funds in the event of death would you foresee? How would the tax on dividends / Capital Gains be affected? Hannes I recently received a severance package. This money is considered "tax free income" because of a SARS tax directive, which seems to be common with severance packages. It's been lying in a savings account, and I'd like to know what you think is the most tax-efficient way to put that money to work. I don't have any investments and no emergency fund. The savings referred to above is currently my emergency fund. The only debt I have is car debt, a monthly expense of R2400. No bond either. The amount is just enough to max out my TFSA for the 2018 tax year ending in February as well as settle my car debt completely, but then I have no more savings / emergency fund left at all. However I can quickly build up an emergency fund, or to rather contribute aggressively to my car debt with a monthly contribution if I decide to not settle. It seems crazy dropping a huge amount on my car debt to settle it considering the small monthly repayment, but it's also something I want to get rid of ASAP as it allows for more savings, less essential expenses and more cashflow when I'm rid of the repayment. The risk of course is that I will be stuck without savings / emergency fund for a few months until I can build it up again. I do have a credit card. Not quite sure what the best course of action is. Should I rather leave the debt as is and invest with this "tax free income"? Minnaar I would like to understand how a property-based ETF actually distributes the income that it gets from rentals? How does the ETF distribute this to holders of the product? Is it in the form of a dividend? Can you explain like I am 5 why some people think investing in REIT properties are a good idea in a TFSA? Dave I discovered that you can buy REITSs via unit trusts, exchange traded funds or standalones directly from your stockbroker or financial advisor or a site like EasyEquities. I can see a sort of hierarchy here but just don't get it. Are earnings from REITs rental income or dividends? I can appreciate that if held in a property owning company the earnings would be in divs. But if held by a unit trust how would rental earnings be paid? Phil I love this podcast and this a wonderful public service you're offering to all South Africa. Even though I'm in the UK and a lot of the advice can't be directly applied the thinking still applies and continues to push my thinking. I want to share stuff that changed my financial life which was given a wake-up call after I took a massive hit on RA when I financially emigrated and was confronted with just how far behind I was. Painful stuff, and wish I had a podcast like yours to point me in the right direction at the time. I wanted to share some references I use in the UK that I think would be very useful for reference in your offering to the public as well: - The go-to reddit (I know, don't take advice from unknown muppets, but it's good) for me is /r/ukpersonalfinance/. In particular I love the UK Personal Finance Flowchart and it's interactive version (which is opensource on github btw...). This flowchart is awesome for visualising where you are on the maturity scale. Super helped my wife with her "O, fok!" moment. - The second source I love is moneysavingexpert.com. It's a bit of a marketing-hidden-like-advice site, but it's got some gold-level guides on finance basics for people who were never shown how the basics work. - The more extreme sites are FIRE the based, but drastically shifted my thinking on what retirement means, in particular @firevlondon on twitter is an interesting feed I follow with monevator.com to frame my thinking on passive investment. Melissa I already have some investments with Easy Equities, so just decided to move some funds around so that I can put the full R33 000 in for the 2018 tax year. I am a bit confused about the limit of R33 000 and the fees involved. When I bought my TFSA ETFs the admin/brokerage fees were deducted and my investment amount only shows as R32 877 (R123 admin fee). I know it is a small difference, but I would like to utilise the full R33 000 that I am allowed for the year. Easy equities however does not allow me to invest any more funds into this account. Do you have any clarity whether this R33k limit includes the administration fees? André I heard you say you had to re-open your FNB account because you have and FNB flexi bond. Not sure what the exact reason is but thought I will share this. You do not need an FNB account to withdraw from your FNB bond. I also have an FNB flexi bond and I nominated an account at a different institution and I have withdrawn from the bond directly into that account. Fanie I'm nearly 70 and earn the biggest part of my income from the following ETFs: PREFTX, PTXTEN and STPROP. You mentioned that because PREFTX consist of many banking pref shares there is a risk should we get downgraded to junk status by all the rating agencies. I understand that a junk grading will affect our total banking system negatively in that interest rates will go up. What do you think will be the effect of a downgrade on my income from PREFTX. Chris What stops me from opening a tax free savings account with a overseas fund managers like JP Morgan, Investco, Black Rock etc? What are the tax implications for me as a non-resident in an international based etf tfsa? What are the risks and is it something worth investigating? Conette I am 55 and work for a big bank group, with lots of good benefits. My emergency funds sorted out and bond debt almost covered. I want to open a Tax Free Savings (ETFs) account with Easy Equities . I please need your assistance in my ETF selection? I intend not to 'touch' the investment in the next 15 to 20 years. Jo I am in the process of shifting my RA around and moving away from unit trusts and into ETFs. I started investing in an RA as soon as I started working, but unfortunately I thought they were very one size fits all and so it's all sitting in unit trusts with fees of around 3.8%. While digging more into finance I came across a TED talk by a doctor in Australia who pointed out that most people's retirement funds are invested in British American Tobacco (BAT). So I looked up the current funds I am invested in and my current unit trust, my work provident fund and the new ETF I was looking into for my RA all invest more than 1% into BAT. This is pretty disappointing to me. I can guarantee that a large percentage of the general populace wouldn't invest in tobacco if they had the option. And yet they are unwittingly helping fund the industry. I have tried to do some googling for green funds in SA but haven't really come across anything. I realize that I could just build my own RA by picking shares but would much rather choose an ETF. I would also not like to pay exorbitant fees just to avoid investing in unethical companies. Maybe I will have to suck it up and offset my investment in BAT with charitable donations to cancer research. ;) Jon-Luke Is it possible to transfer ETFs that you already own into your Tax Free Savings without having to sell them first? Rudolph wants to know if yield rise or fall with quantitative easing.

Episode 129-Urus Urus. If you make it to the end of the show, you'll probably never hear the name of the weird Lamborghini SUV without it being coupled by a spine-tingling shiver and part of your soul (if you have one…Dave) giving up and leaving. So yeah, besides spoiling Lambo names, Ian makes Dave say uncle. And by uncle, we mean what Mr. Old Man Infiniti Sedan really thinks of Ian's Boy Racer, Class Skipping, Bird Flipping, Track-honed R32. Go figure, he wound up blathering on and on about bicycles. Sheesh. You can take the ginger out of the sedan, but you can't take the old man out of the…wait, there's no good way for that to sound in the end. Anyway, lessons learned in this episode? Sure. Episode 42-Erotic Gobble It's all about certainty this time around. Dave is certain he knows how to combat tailgating, we're all in agreement that the R32 is cooler than the GTI, and Ian is pretty damn sure on the exact circumstances of his imminent demise. Other things we know? We should stop worrying and learn to love the Mighty Car Mods Saab project, Dave's FMKcars is an all-time great, and Ian should probably be kept at a safe distance from any fish markets. Hey!
