New episode out now.   To kick off the show this week we start with UK Metal/Grime crew Hacktivist who have just unleashed their second single Reprogram https://youtu.be/nY9PJWSnuhY taken from their upcoming release  Hyperdialect Co-vocalist Jot Maxi comments: "There's a double meaning to this one. Society needs reprogrammed, Hacktivist has been reprogrammed, so if you're listening and you're vibing out to it, have a little think about what you might need to do in your own life to reprogram – to make yourself like yourself better, or to have less regret.  "Society needs a reboot, our band has had a reboot, so why don't you? At the same time, it's got this little science fiction story within it, about a future that breaks down and actually needs reprogrammed from zero. In an ideal world, hopefully, we will have all reprogrammed before anything like that happens to us for real." Hyperdialect will be released on 18th June 2021 via UNFD, and is available to pre-order here: https://unfd.lnk.to/hyperdialect  Hacktivist recently announced a special one-off headline show to celebrate the release of Hyperdialect. Set to take place on 29th July 2021 at London's Signature Brew, support will come from rising artist Kid Bookie who features on the band's single 'Armoured Core'.  Tickets for the show are on sale here: https://www.hacktivist.uk.com/shows Check out 'Armoured Core' featuring Kid Bookie here: https://youtu.be/kuN7AbgZzao Watch the video for recent single 'Planet Zero' here: https://youtu.be/zcjxxoJ8BHU Hacktivist online https://www.hacktivist.uk.com https://www.facebook.com/Hacktivistband/ https://twitter.com/hacktivistuk https://www.instagram.com/hacktivistuk Reprogramme for me is classic Hacktivist big riffs with thick bass lines that hit hard almost like a punch to the chest, mixed with grime elements, lyrically reprogramme is genius production is great crisp clean as always from these guys who are never afraid to keep pushing boundaries, I can't speak highly enough of these guys they are great at their own induvial crafts and bring this all together to give us their unique sound, a great track to kick off the show with.     Next track of the week   They Fell From The Sky who are making their Setting The Tone debut They Fell From The Sky who are Colin Doran - Vocals Jason Bowld - Drums Dave Draper - Guitars, Programming Lee Erinmez – Bass       Oly Edkins - Guitars, Backing Vocals Release a brand new track crush https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atL5uqqRNKw They Fell From The Sky formed after Colin Doran (Hundred Reasons) and Jason Bowld (Bullet For My Valentine, Pitchshifter, Killing Joke) got together for Jason's collaborative project ‘This Is Menace'. They then started writing with Dave Draper and completed the line up with Lee Erinmez (Snuff) and Oly Edkins.    Once in the studio the band's songwriting flourished and an album began to take shape, blending the multitude of styles each member brought to the table. The songs started to flow and the sound honed to make the unique songwriting juggernaut that is ‘They Fell From The Sky'.   Their upcoming single ‘Dry' is a perfect example of the bands ability to mix their heavier backgrounds with mainstream appeal, taken from their debut album due for release in the Spring of 2021. The album is produced by the band's guitarist Dave Draper, who's best known for his work with The Wildhearts, The Professionals and Kerbdog.   Commenting on the track, vocalist and lyricist Colin Doran explains: “It's about people who are consistently only apologetic when absolutely caught out; But are not actually sorry at all.”   They Fell From The Sky online https://linktr.ee/theyfellfromthesky https://www.facebook.com/TheyFellFromTheSky  https://twitter.com/tfftsband  https://www.instagram.com/tfftsband/   what I love about Crush is a can hear an element of Rise against us, this punk rock vibe with big hooks and melody but the guys here are not afraid not add their own ideas on this track weather that be a slight growl on the vocals as an example I really like crush and I'm keen to see what else comes from They Fell From the Sky   Next this week is the return of One Last Day   South-East rockers ONE LAST DAY are proud to unleash their new single THIS BOTTLE GOT ME https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyigRypD1ZM&feature=youtu.be  About One Last Day It started with a single jam session between two guitar loving friends. Gareth Stapleton and John Harmsworth knew they had the start of something that could work. With a shared desire to deliver heavy yet accessible music, One Last Day's journey was born. Of course, at this point there were no other members, no plan, not even the name! Through the creative development, the guys started playing with different musicians and cementing the direction they wanted to progress, with the addition of Adrian Osman on drums, they found a kindred spirit and also the solid backdrop on which they could deliver.  As active members of the South East music scene, they already knew of the vocal prowess of Alex Willox, and after a few hours in a dingy practice room, One Last Day had found its voice, literally.  ONE LAST DAY are: Alex Willox - Vocals Gareth Stapleton – Rhythm Guitar and Backing Vocals John Harmsworth – Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals Bob Brockwell - Bass Adrian Osman – Drums ONE LAST DAY links  Official Website Facebook Instagram Youtube Spotify Bandcamp  Okay so this is a welcome back to the show for this band and I recall speaking about their debut single and like I don't want to slam this because the positive is it's a new band coming out during a pandemic and all thou I was not blown away by their debut single, I wanted to hear what else was to come rather than just shutting them down, well I'm pleased with the latest offering What I like straight away is the tone of Alex vocals it reminds me a little bit of Howard Jones vocals what is love single The chorus has a massive hook will and will easily have you pulled in, the tempo is really important on this as track is not afraid to speed up or slow down at any stage, and this even time for a bit of a Rammstein influence towards the end where the words I lose my mind are being reparteed, overall it's a great follow up single and there is plenty of room for this band to grow.   Lastly this week we have Next up is a band who are no strangers to Setting The Tone, welcome back to NO:IR who have just unleashed their brand new single Phantom Since their debut in 2019, Bristol-based Nu-Metal five-piece NO:IR have evolved their sound from their hardcore roots to create a modern fusion from a host of genres. They take deep inspiration - and their name, from Film Noir, often characterised by cynicism, intricate plots and existential philosophy.    With four previous successful singles under their belt, the band have achieved more than 100,000 streams on Spotify. Their innate blend of rap and metal draws on an array of influences including emo, hip-hop and dark pop. This has resulted in a signature re-imagination of the Nu-Metal sound; their upcoming single Phantom due for release May 7th 2021, captures this perfectly.   Produced, Mixed and Mastered with Josh Gallop (Phoxjaw) at Stage 2 Studios in Bath, Phantom challenges and explores the honesty and authenticity around an artist's image. Established artists show a diverse variety of personalities, with some being completely transparent about their feelings and life stories; and some being the opposite, creating new identities or writing about fictitious situations in order to seem more appealing or interesting.  NO:IR online  https://open.spotify.com/album/473c5cJuhkFlv5YfY8cvrN https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUNx0VKfESk https://www.thebandnoir.com/ https://www.facebook.com/thebandnoiruk https://twitter.com/thebandnoir https://www.instagram.com/thebandnoir https://open.spotify.com/artist/5BVZqn07CjxpVxqBkmDzHw https://music.apple.com/us/artist/no-ir/84853764 https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/noir3/phantom   I wont lie and pretend to hide my excitement these guys have been on my radar for a while I really love what they have to offer. Phantom is a slightly different take on what has come before, it's a slightly more melodic feel almost like this is NO:IR ballad and that's fine there is almost like a grime feel to phantom, bars are being spit. Overall it's different from what has come before there is not as much high energy behind this, but this is perfect for a set as you can bring the pace down with this track and pick up later.   To close out the show here Phantom     You can find this episode and previous episodes from Setting The Tone in the below links Spotfiy https://open.spotify.com/show/6Jj9SsrXxve44839dptihN… Apple https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/setting-the-tone/id1499390718 Google https://podcasts.google.com/?q=setting%20the%20tone podbean https://Settingthetone2.podbean.com   Thank you to our sponsor @The Guitar Ninja Academy, the best place to become a guitar master For more information our sponsor then hit the below links https://theguitarninja.co.uk https://www.facebook.com/theguitarninja

Over the years, I find myself thinking more and more about the basics. The truth is if you have been around fitness for a few years, it's likely you know everything you need to know to achieve outstanding results. Even a quick flip through one of my beginner books will provide enough information for years of progress. The problem is, there is a bit of joy in thinking you are not privy to the truth, that a lack of information is what's holding you back. If only you knew about the secret supplement, exercise, or "advanced" training technique. The abundance of information available today plays into this. There are always new podcasts, articles, videos, etc. to check out. It's easy to have fitness FOMO. Look, I love that there is so much fitness information available today. I wish I had access to it when I started. But, the point to remember is, nothing replaces the work. The content most of us should be chasing is how to develop good habits, master the fundamentals, and consistently work hard. If you do that, the results will speak for themselves. Dave Draper has an awesome quote in his book Brother Iron Sister Steel, "The simple and commonplace, due to their ordinary nature, are almost always reduced in importance and misplaced." Brother Iron, Sister Steel is what we are going to talk about today.  In chapter two of the book, he lays out the following six keys. He actually called it the six keys to bodybuilding success, but bodybuilding in a more general sense. All of these tips apply to fitness as a whole. Janin haastattelu ilmestyy kokonaisuudessaan 24.6. klo 9, Laurin viikkoa myöhemmin 1.7. klo 9. Empun haastattelu on puolestaan jo kuunneltavissa kaikilta kanaviltamme (Episodi XIV).   01. Rujo Katras (Jyväskylä, rock)Rujo Katras on yhtä kuin: Joonas Rautiainen - Laulu Topi Lampinen - Kitara+taustamölinä Joni Haarala - Rummut Jari Rossi - Basso+taustamölinä  Vuonna 2013 Jyväskyläläinen bändi sai alkunsa, jolloin aloimme tekemään suomenkielistä rujoa rokkia yksinkertaisuudesta tinkimättä. Keikkoja on takana runsain mitoin. Musiikkia teemme Puhtaasta ilosta,  raukkaudesta lajiin ja hamaan jallupulloon asti.  Merkittävimmät yhteiskeikat: - Timo Rautiainen & Trio niskalaukaus lämppäys Saarijärvellä - Maj karma lämppäys Laukaanhovissa - Korpiklaani  lämppäys Laukaanhovissa  Saavutukset: -Tuska torstain semifinaali paikka 2019 -Soundi lehden viikon paras demo (Kiitos! kappale) LINKIT:Facebook TUE:Ottakaa Facebook sivu seurantaan niin saatte tietoa keikoista, muusta touhuilusta ja bändin kuulumisista. TULKAA KEIKOILLE höpönassut ROCK!!!   02. Madison Roam (Lahti, rock)Madison Roam on vuonna 2009 Lahdessa perustettu rock-bändi. Pohjavaikutteena musiikkiin on kuitenkin ns. Yhtye on julkaissut kaksi promo-levyä “As The Daylight Goes By” sekä “Ready to Roll?” ja bändin nimeä kantava debyyttialbumi putkahti ulos 2012. Viimeisin äänite on vuonna 2019 julkaistu Dog From Hell -ep.  Keikkarintamalla yhtyeen toistaiseksi merkittävimmät keikat ovat olleet omat levynjulkkaribileet sekä useita mainioita lämppäyskeikkoja (mm. Graham Bonnet band, OD Saxon, Kauko Röyhkä, Pelle Miljoona etc.)  Tällä hetkellä bändi punoo koronatauon aikana juonia tulevaan ja tulee aktivoitumaan taas lähitulevaisuudessa. Tulossa varmasti lisää keikkoja sekä uutta materiaalia. Stay tuned! 03. Weightless World (Jyväskylä, rock)© Emmi Virtanen. Weightless Worldin taival alkoi pienessä kellarissa Päijänteen rannalla, Jyväskylässä. Neljä teini-ikäistä kaverusta perustivat ryhmän yhteisen kiinnostuksen kohteen ympärille; metalli ja musiikin tekeminen olivat kaikilla lähellä sydäntä. Alusta lähtien yhtye alkoi soittamaan omaa musiikkia. ”My Devotion” julkaistiin vuonna 2017 musiikkivideon kanssa. A1noa on keikkaillut tasaiseen tahtiin tehden hää, synttäri, pikkujoulu yms keikkoja. 06. A1noa  on puolestaan omaa tuotantoa. Teen pääosin sävellykset, sanoitukset ja sovitukset. Esitämme keikoilla myös covereita.  Olen järjestänyt useita hyväntekeväisyyskonsertteja mm. Mll:n hyväksi.  Sähkeet Uutiskomediashow (Hki) kanssa olen tehnyt muutaman vuoden tuotantoyhtyeistyötä.  Minulta on tilailtu paljon erilaisille laulajille ja tarpeisiin sovituksia ja tuottanut musiikkia.  Helsinkiläisen Krister Orren kanssa olen tehynt on-off yhteistyötä, josta on yksi sinkku/musavideo julkaistu. Krister Orre vaikuttaa 69eyes bändin taustalla.  Olen Orimattilasta kotoisin. Kappaleita on syntynyt vuosien mittaan paljon. Bändissä on tapahtunut vuosien varrella muutoksia kokoonpanossa. Bändillä on nettisivut www.runneltu.com. Sivusto päivitetään ajan tasalle kun ehditään!  Moni on varmaan ehtinyt 16 vuodessa perustaa ja lopettaa monta bändiä. Runneltu on kehittänyt omaa juttuaan eteenpäin kärsivällisesti kaikessa rauhassa. Suunta on kohti parempaa. Eikä pelkästään selvitty vaan bändi on pystynyt kehittymään. Keikkailun kannalta vastoinkäymiset ovat kuitenkin usein osuneet huonoon saumaan. Toisaalta senkin takia meillä on nyt entistäkin nälkäisempi joukkue kasassa. Uusi laulaja on tuonut bändiin uutta virtaa. 08. Korsakoff Oy (Riihimäki, punk)Korsakoff Oy on kasattu 2018 marraskuussa. Paras tapa tukea Korsakoffin toimintaa on käydä niillä keikoilla. The Brohemian Rhapsody boys are back in a side-splitting episode with a hilariously tormented Mike Quindlen, still begrudgingly filling in for Paco! After Balls and Dave Draper talk about our recent prank on the Graveyard Goonz, Quindlen rages against former guest RJ Jackson, prompting Producer Mike to reign him in. Our favorite flustered Philadelphian then describes the acting role that got away, and takes a few digs at the the academic options for folks on the Eastern Shore. Soon a rousing Voicemail session is in order, featuring some familiar tones and a belated Halloween FMK. Some Popeye’s Chicken talk whets our appetites, before a call to Wendi Townsend leaves us swooning, and some dirt is flung across the FM waves as Wes Anderson proves he can hold his own! Then Quindlen throws shade at our former intern, who is actually quite dashing, and who still writes the show notes.   Tags: Brohemian Rhapsody, Dave Draper, Patrick Draper, Wes Anderson, Mike Quindlen, Dick in a Box, RJ Jackson, Salisbury University, Pennywise, Mike Myers, Freddy Krueger, Popeye’s Chicken, Wendi Townsend, Macho Man Randy Savage, Meth, Beavis and Butthead

We'll be posting workouts and starting discussions about how to be strategic around finding a healthier you. Check it out!    Your Health and Wellness This Week: Strength Training & Self-Care On this week's episode of Open Sky Fitness, award-winning journalist,  certified strength and conditioning specialist, and author, Lou Schuler, spoke to Rob about his career and life experiences about getting fit and staying fit for life. Lou has had a career in the fitness journey for more than 20 years and has witnessed major changes and trends in the world of health. But before we get into the interview with Lou, Rob and Devon share some self-care topics. Learn what it means when you judge other people, how you can turn your focus back to you, and when is a good time to help other people in need. Lou Schuler's Fitness Advice On this episode, you'll learn what it was like for Lou to start lifting weights as a teenager with minimal sources available compared to the immense amount of information that you can find today on the Internet and in magazines. Today, As Lou reaches 60 years of age, he's realized that his focus on strength training and fitness has shifted compared to when he was younger. Lou currently works out about 3 days a week and focuses on core stability training and mobility training. By focusing on more isometric exercises, Lou has been able to focus on improving his balance while still staying strong, stabilizing the muscles, and avoiding joint pain. Growing Stronger Over Time Whether you're just beginning to strength train or you're returning to it after a break, it's important to start with the basics and progress over time. Lou's advice is that you shouldn't feel that you need to speed up your workout to lift heavy weights or take on a Cross Fit class. Don't do anything intense until you've mastered the basic movements. Back to the Basics of Strength Training Even if you've been lifting for years, going back to basics with a program that includes completing 2 sets of 12 repetitions can be fatiguing because your body has changed over time and it's not used to doing this exercise.     Staying Strong for Life When we're young, and especially if we're involved in sports, we can feel unstoppable. It's a great sensation to feel like you're unbreakable and don't have any limits when it comes to pushing your body's limits. On the other hand, not matter what our age is, we all need to take care of our body's health for life Athletes try to lift more than they can really handle and that's where injury comes into play. As we age, just like Lou, different types of strength training and balancing exercises come into play. At some point in our lives, we begin to prioritize exercises that help us to stabilize our body and condition the muscle to help reduce any type of future injury. If an injury should occur, we want to make sure that our body is strong enough that we can recover quickly.   Staying Healthy With Age   "There is no turning back the clock. I'll never get back the body that I used to have when I was 30, 40, or even 50. There's just no way." - Lou Schuler   A lot of people may believe that they can have this same body forever by taking a special pill, but we have to realize that our bodies will age and we cannot workout at the gym in the same matter that we did when we were younger. As we get older, it can be discouraging to think about everything that our bodies used to be able to do when we were younger that we cannot do now. However, the best thing about gaining experience with fitness and strength training over time is that we know our bodies better than we did before. Now we can suspect when an injury might come up, we know when to slow down, and we recognize when we've reached our limits. We just have to treat our bodies well over time and take care of it the best we can through fitness and nutrition.    About Lou Schuler   Lou Schuler is an award-winning journalist, a certified strength and conditioning specialist, a contributing editor to Men’s Health magazine (you can find most of my articles here), and author or coauthor of many popular books about diet and strength training. Lou's latest book, Strong, came out November 10, 2015. He and Alwyn Cosgrove wrote it as a follow-up to The New Rules of Lifting for Women, which is by far the most influential of the five books in the New Rules of Lifting series. Lou also wrote The Lean Muscle Diet with Alan Aragon, which came out in December 2014, along with The Book of Muscle (with Ian King), The Home Workout Bible (with Mike Mejia and many other contributors), and The Testosterone Advantage Plan (with Jeff Volek, Mike Mejia, and Adam Campbell).
