For the first time, Bankadelic airs an episode taped in a combo sauna-podcast booth. Leave it to Monika Liikamaa, co-founder and co-CEO at Finland-based Enfuce, to bring on the heat. Her company didn't become Europe's leading Cards-as-a-Service fully cloud-based provider by pussyfooting. Nor does Monikka mince words, including the f-bombs dropped during this taping. Many were edited, but quite a few remain, so listener discretion is advised. What else to expect from a contrarian maverick spotted on the floor of Money 20/20 wearing a t-shirt that says "Get shit done"? Special thanks to Dave Wallace of "Dave and Dharm Demystify" fo co-hosting the episode.

Digital became a mighty buzzword during COVID, but sustained digital growth often got lost in the process. That was — and is —particularly true when it comes to the learning experience platforms that make experts out of employees, and delighted repeat customers out of consumers. This special episode comes by way of Bankadelic's sister podcast, Dave & Dharm Demystify. Many thanks to Dave Wallace and Dharmesh Mistry. LemonadeLXP is a proud sponsor of Bankadelic.

Dave Wallace's music is rooted in the songs of the 60's when entertainers like Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, and the golden age of radio and records changed his life -- from one of conflict and abuse to a person that wears a guitar on his shoulder and finds a prayer in his heart.“I could never have survived, moved on or overcome much of the past,” he said of memories of his parent's split-up, moves across country and the checkered times he describes as dark. “Without music or my faith, I wouldn't be here, or be the musician I've become.” “My first original song was based on the lyrics of ‘Pray' Christian music that I began to work through on a nylon-string guitar,” said Wallace, “So I would say that a lot of my music came from painful situations, the times we loved country music and knew it was time to get down on our knees and pray.”Over the years, he ‘moved on' to the famous refrains of Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings. His aspiration was to sing in church and to connect his audience with a higher power. “When I sing I don't sound exactly like any one vocalist, but I use my own style, rhythm and tone.” In 2010, he decided to settle in St. George with his wife, Kay. “Over the years I've think I've gone from a ‘so-so guitar player' to being a more authentic entertainer,” said Wallace of change. “My one-time lead guitar player, Jeff Eastwood told me to get rid of the music stand and find the discipline and heart of a professional.”He has good memories of the first time he jumped onto a stage in Las Vegas, and in 2007, his role as worship leader for the Centerville Baptist Church.“To me, it's important not to put on a facade, but to reach out to the audience and to say as a Christian… Yes, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.”In fact, music is the ‘go to' that Dave has always followed. “I think the devil tried to take it all away from me,” he said of lost years and dark times. “But I got it back -- a stability, an opportunity to play, to entertain and I'm so grateful for that life.”

China is quickly becoming home to the largest fintech ecosystem in the world, benefiting from historically low use of traditional banking, high smartphone penetration, a changing demographic and a consumer acceptance of banking without traditional infrastructure. Dominated by giants like Baidu, Ant, PingAn and Tencent, combined with many highly successful start-ups like WeLab, the success in delivering both personalized financial services and an impressive level of financial inclusion is a model for the rest of the world. This is not a story of disruption of legacy banking as much as a story of filling a previously unmet need for advanced financial services supported by smartphones. To discuss how fintech firms have benefited from open access to data, and how the Chinese consumer benefits from value added services not available to most in the world, I am joined by my friend, Matt Dooley, founding board member of the Fintech Association of Hong Kong and founder of Connected Thinking Ltd. who guided a tour of Shenzhen for myself and the former global CEO of HeathWallace, Dave Wallace.
