Fr. Mike encourages us not to be discouraged about the small things happening in our lives, because just as we see through Zechariah's visions, God takes small things and turns them into great triumphs. He also touches on the dedication of Israel to rebuild the temple, and the connection between the crowing of Joshua and the crowning of Christ the King. Today's readings are Ezra 5-6, Zechariah 4-6, and Proverbs 20:8-11. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. The fiercest battle today isn't political, it's spiritual. Demons aren't metaphors but real enemies exploiting disorder, broken formation, and the collapse of traditional Catholic life. Instead of turning to the sacraments, fasting, and the authority structures within Church and family, many Catholics fall back on Protestant models of deliverance and emotionalism. The infiltration of Marxist, feminist, and secular ideas has weakened men, replaced fatherhood with performance, and left the domestic Church exposed. True spiritual warfare demands clarity, discipline, and a return to the sacramental and doctrinal weapons that have always been the Church's arsenal.U.S. residents! Send us a text by clicking this link! The Catholic world stands at a crossroads following Pope Leo's election, with traditional Catholics debating the best path forward. Should they maintain the same vocal criticism that characterized the Francis era, or adopt a more measured approach that might secure broader access to traditional liturgy? This tension has sparked heated debate within Catholic media circles.Matt Gaspers joins the conversation, expressing his growing skepticism about Pope Leo. Despite the new pontiff's improved aesthetics and more dignified demeanor, Gaspers argues Leo appears substantively aligned with his predecessor on doctrinal matters. This observation leads to a profound discussion about the nature of the Church in our time - is she experiencing her Passion, much like Christ after His scourging? The hosts examine Chris Jackson's recent article criticizing what he terms the "indult for quiet" strategy - the notion that traditional Catholics should soften their criticism in exchange for liturgical permissions. This debate reveals deeper divisions about effective resistance in an era where doctrinal confusion seems to reign, while the traditional Latin Mass faces increasing restrictions. The conversation takes on apocalyptic dimensions as the hosts consider whether we're witnessing the culmination of Christian history. References to unfulfilled aspects of the Fatima message, particularly regarding Russia's conversion, suggest divine intervention may be necessary where human solutions fall short. Yet, amid these sobering reflections, a call for personal sanctity and faithful witness remains. What emerges is a thoughtful exploration of how to preserve authentic Catholicism when the visible structures appear compromised. Is strategic prudence the wisest approach, or does it risk surrendering essential truths? The answers aren't simple, but the questions deserve our serious consideration as we navigate these unprecedented waters together.Support the show"Protect Catholic Kids" Shirt Fundraiser for Victims of Annunciation Shooting: https://avoiding-babylon-shop.fourthwall.com/collections/protect-catholic-kids ********************************************************Please subscribe! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKsxnv80ByFV4OGvt_kImjQ?sub_confirmation=1https://www.avoidingbabylon.comMerchandise: https://avoiding-babylon-shop.fourthwall.comLocals Community: https://avoidingbabylon.locals.comFull Premium/Locals Shows on Audio Podcast: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1987412/subscribeRSS Feed for Podcast Apps: https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/1987412.rssRumble: https://rumble.com/c/AvoidingBabylon
Gerald Weston - TVCA1407 - Our world is home to several major religions with countless factions within them. Those calling themselves Christians fall into many different categories including Catholics, Protestants, Lutherans, non-denominational and many more. For any thinking person, the question must arise, “How do I know that what I believe is true?” We all believe we are correct, but it is not possible that we are all correct. What do you really know about God and can you prove what you believe from the Bible?

As protests for Gaza shut down ports, schools and transit services in Italy this week, Pope Leo spoke again about the Holy Land, on Sunday greeting representatives from various Catholic groups that are “engaged in works of solidarity with the people of the Gaza Strip.” This week on Inside the Vatican, co-hosts and Vatican correspondents Gerard O'Connell and Colleen Dulle discuss Pope Leo's comments on Gaza both on Sunday and in his first major interview with Crux's Elise Allen. They analyze Leo's hesitance to name the conflict a genocide and discuss a Vatican News editorial that laid out the Holy See's position on peace in the region. In the second part of the show, the hosts give an update on the Vatican's “trial of the century,” a sprawling financial trial that opened dramatically this week in the Vatican's appeals court. The life of man on earth is warfare against the flesh, the world, and the devil. A secret weapon in this war is offering our joys to the Lord. Joy, which is a uniquely human experience, is available to be offered to God. For in so doing, we recognize that the things in this life that bring us true joy come from God alone and it is to Him that we owe our thanks.

Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse speaks with Raven Jard Castañeda and Nirva dela Cruz, two young Catholic leaders from the Philippines who helped pioneer the Humilitas March—a public act of reparation and devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. What began in 2024 as a small prayer gathering in Davao has grown into a nationwide movement offering a faithful alternative to Pride marches. Raven and Nirva share how the marches unite clergy, youth groups, and Catholic organizations in joyful witness, public prayer, and Eucharistic devotion. They discuss the symbolism of holding the march in historic places like EDSA, the powerful conversions it has inspired—including former Pride marchers turning to Christ—and how the Sacred Heart devotion speaks to today's culture of confusion and despair. Raven Jard N. Castañeda is a Catholic apologist, lay catechist, and medical student dedicated to proclaiming the love and kingship of Christ through devotion to the Sacred Heart. A summa cum laude graduate of Ateneo de Davao University in Medical Biology and now a second-year student at Davao Medical School Foundation, he continues forming young Catholics in truth, humility, and devotion. In 2024, he pioneered the HUMILITAS March, a movement of young faithful united in public witness and reparation to the Sacred Heart, and founded the Association of Catholic Apologists – Knights of Saint Justin Martyr, which hosts conferences, apologetics training, and catechetical events. With experience in writing, public speaking, and debate, he defends the faith against rising wokeism in Catholic universities, most recently presenting on Truth, Academic Freedom, and Catholic Education at a 2024 philosophy conference. His deepest desire is to lead souls back to the beauty of the Catholic faith and the burning love of the Heart of Jesus. A former pro-life radio host, she became the first Filipino fellow of the Center for Asia Leadership in 2018, studying leadership and design thinking in Kuala Lumpur. She later served as communications officer for the Arnold Janssen Kalinga Foundation, documenting extra-judicial killings and advancing care for the homeless. An active Singles for Christ leader and international speaker, she has shared the faith across Asia and Europe. That's the story of Suan Sonna, the new Director of Apologetics for the Diocese of Bridgeport. What is apologetics? Why is it important? In a society where people believe everyone has their own truth... how do you engage in meaningful dialogue about the Faith and the things that matter most? These are really deep questions... which Bishop Caggiano discusses with Suan on Let Me Be Frank. Friends of the Rosary,Historically, today, September 25, is the commemoration of Our Lady of Ransom. The Blessed Virgin appeared in separate visions to St. Peter Nolasco, St. Raymond of Penafort, and James, King of Aragon, in 1218, asking them to found a religious order dedicated to freeing Christian captives from the barbarous Saracens, also known as Moors, who at the time held a significant part of Spain. On August 10, 1218, King James established the royal, military, and religious Order of our Lady of Ransom, first known as the Order of St. Eulalia, now known as the Mercedarian Order, with most of the members being knights. Many became heroes of charity who collected alms for the ransom of Christians, and often gave themselves up in exchange for Christian prisoners. This feast was extended to the whole Church by Innocent XII in the 17th century.Additionally, in England today, the Feast of Our Lady of Walsingham is observed. In 1061, the lady of the manor of Walsingham, Richeldis de Faverches, was instructed by a vision of the Virgin Mary to build in her village an exact replica of the house in Nazareth in which the Annunciation had taken place. The original house was destroyed by Henry VIII, but by 1897, the chapel had been reconstructed, and pilgrimage was restored for both Anglicans and Catholics. On March 29, 2020, England was rededicated as the “Dowry of Mary,” with Our Lady of Walsingham being the central Marian devotion around the rededication.Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! When we assess who a good person is, we must look beyond their natural virtues to see the extent to which they conform their life to God. For God alone is good and so we must never lose sight that it is His goodness alone that elevates us supernaturally. In the martyrs, we find an example of those who have conformed their lives to God's goodness while displaying their ultimate love for Him through their sacrifice.

The sexual revolution has distorted truth, fueled confusion, and even bred violence. Labels like “transgender” hide very different realities, while wishful thinking and confirmation bias block repentance and healing. Send us a text by clicking this link!Have you noticed the seismic shift happening in Catholic media? The comfortable patterns established during the Francis papacy have been utterly disrupted by Pope Leo's different leadership style, leaving content creators scrambling to adapt. For ten years, Francis provided a steady stream of controversial statements and actions that united conservative and traditional Catholics in shared concern. As Anthony observes, "Francis made normal Novus Ordo conservative Catholics feel like they had more in common with trads than they did with the Pope." This environment spawned an entire industry of Catholic media outlets that thrived on daily papal headlines.Enter Pope Leo, who speaks in what Anthony calls "squishy platitudes that allow everyone to hear what they want." This dramatic change has exposed the unsustainable nature of outrage-driven content. We're witnessing former allies taking shots at each other not because they disagree on substance, but because they're struggling to find new approaches in this changed landscape.Christian challenges fellow Catholic content creators to examine their mission: "The call of the Catholic is to take over the world, is to say that Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ is coming again." He argues that many talented people in Catholic media have been wasting their gifts on sensationalizing papal news rather than creating content that advances Christ's kingdom. The conversation extends beyond just traditional Catholic circles, touching on how liberal Catholic media outlets like "Where Peter Is" are similarly affected. Both hosts advocate for a return to substance over sensation, relationship-building over viral moments, and reconciliation between Catholic media figures who found temporary unity under Francis.Whether you're a content creator yourself or simply a consumer of Catholic media, this episode offers crucial insights into the changing dynamics of faith communication in the digital age. Special Guest Host Cale Clarke highlights the heartfelt eulogy Erica Kirk gave for her husband Charlie, reflecting on faith as daily habit and the weight of spiritual leadership in family life. Unexpected listener questions about praying for non-Catholics and the deeper meaning of service spark honest, personal answers, while stories from Cale’s own past slip in, sometimes funny, sometimes bittersweet. Something honest rises up between memories, scripture, and listeners calling from every stage of belief. On The Patrick Madrid Show, a caller named Jared voices a concern shared by many Catholics today: could the Church ever change her teaching on homosexuality? With so many voices online casting doubt, Jared – himself a convert – wonders if he had put his trust in something that might shift under pressure. Patrick Madrid responds with clarity and conviction: the Church’s teaching on sexual morality has been consistent for 2,000 years and will never change. From the words of Jesus to the writings of St. Paul and the unbroken witness of the Church Fathers, the truth about chastity, purity of heart, and God’s plan for human love remains constant. While individuals may push for compromise, their opinions cannot overturn what Christ Himself established. Patrick reminds you that human nature hasn’t changed. The temptations of lust, pride, and rebellion existed 1,000 years ago just as they do today. Yet the Church stands firm, built on the rock of Christ’s promise that the “gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Even in times of scandal, upheaval, or confusion, the truth remains unshaken. If you're feeling anxiety or fear, Patrick encourages you to focus less on what dissenting voices say and more on living faithfully. We can't control how others act, but we can only be responsible for our own decisions. He urges you to stay close to the sacraments, pray the Rosary, and trust Jesus’ promise that His Church will endure. As he put it, “If you stick with Jesus, you stay in the truth, you persist... everything is going to be okay. Jesus said so, and I believe it.” Patrick recommends Interior Freedom by Fr. Jacques Philippe, a book that helps you find peace and trust in God, even when storms rage around you. His message is clear: truth does not bend to culture, and the Catholic Church will never change her teaching on homosexuality – because it is the teaching of Christ Himself.
