Former Goldman Sachs managing director Jaime Fiore Higgins joins Zerlina on the show to discuss her new book BULLY MARKET: My Story of Money and Misogyny at Goldman Sachs, out now! Jamie Fiore Higgins became one of the few women at the highest ranks of Goldman Sachs. Spurred on by the obligation she felt to her working-class immigrant family, she rose through the ranks and saw it all: out-of-control, lavish parties flowing with never-ending drinks; affairs flouted in the office; rampant drug use; and most pervasively, a discriminatory culture that seemed designed to hold back the few women and people of color employed at the company.Despite Goldman Sachs having the right talking points and statistics, Fiore Higgins soon realized that these provided a veneer to cover up what she found to be an abusive culture. Her account in BULLY MARKET is one filled with shocking stories of harassment and jaw-dropping tales of exclusionary behavior: when she was told she only got promoted because she is a woman; when her coworkers mooed at her after she pumped for her fourth child, defying the superior who had advised her not to breastfeed; or when a male boss used a racial epithet in front of her, other colleagues, and clients without any repercussions.BULLY MARKET sounds the alarm on the culture of finance and corporate America, while offering clear, actionable ideas for creating a fairer workplace. Both a revealing, extraordinary look at the industry and a top Wall Streeter's explosive personal story, Bully Market is an essential account of one woman's experience in a flawed system that speaks to the challenge and urgency for change.Jamie Fiore Higgins worked as a managing director at Goldman Sachs. One of just 8 percent of Goldman employees to earn the managing director title, she was the highest-ranking woman in her department. An active member of the Women's Network Committee, Fiore Higgins spent her workdays running the trainee and internship programs, recruiting, and managing top equity clients and $96 billion in stock. Living in New Jersey with her husband and four children, she is a trained coach, working with teens to hone in on their leadership skills, high school, and college graduates as they begin careers, professionals as they navigate the workforce, and those in midlife looking to reinvent themselves. She is also a contributor for Medium and Thrive Global.

What Leaders Need To Do To Address Diversity And Inclusion In Today's Workplaces

For the past few years, there's been a growing focus and demand that organizations address diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Although there's been numerous studies that have demonstrated how a diverse workforce leads to improved financial performance, productivity, innovation, and overall growth, the numbers of visible minority groups and women in decision-making or leadership roles remains extremely low. So if there's a clear business case to be made for increasing diversity both in the workplace and in leadership circles, why is there still so little traction to address this, especially when so many organizations are struggling to find talent to help their organization achieve their goals. That's what I'll be examining with my guest, Dr. Marlette Jackson, in this episode of my “Leadership Biz Cafe” podcast. Marlette is a researcher, educator, and cross-functional leader with over 8 years' experience building and scaling DEI initiatives. She's also the Global Director of Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at Virgin Pulse, where her work involves building processes, policies and programs to attract, develop, and retain the best talent from all backgrounds for Virgin Pulse globally. Over the course of this episode, Marlette and I discuss: What leaders and their organizations need to do to make their diversity and inclusion be more than a feel-good measure. How to change the narrative that supporting more visible minorities and women to move into leadership roles means asking others to give up their opportunities. Why we need to reassess how we understand power in the context of diversity and inclusion. What leaders need to do to encourage visible minorities to access their own power for the mutual benefit of the organization and employees. How diversity and inclusion initiatives help to address the growing mental health crisis at work. How we can overcome our blindspots and biases to recognize the role we all need to play to make our workplaces more welcoming and inclusive for everyone. How leaders can start this discussion in their organization and the 4 phases to successful implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives. This is such an important conversation on a topic that every leader needs to get familiar and comfortable with. So I hope you'll make time to check this episode out to hopefully get some powerful food for thought on how you can address this issue in your organization. https://open.spotify.com/episode/24YptFbBhT1sOxSv7h3Ute Noteworthy links: Dr. Marlette Jackson's articles from Harvard Business Review:Woke-Washing” Your Company Won't Cut ItDoes Your Definition of Leadership Exclude Women of Color?Former Goldman Sachs executive Edith Cooper's New York Times piece: I Was Told I Have Career Advantages ‘as a Black Woman.' Look inside the ECB's asset buying (manipulation) program (of propaganda) http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-06-13... 3) Do you think the economic and political elites were meeting at the recent Bilderberg meeting to discuss how to implement fully digital currencies and a cashless society on a global scale? 4) Do you think the US wants a new president in place in Brazil to allow US oil companies to buy up assets from PetroBras as Petrobras faces financial problems from low oil prices and too much debt? Are the Chinese also planning how to get involved in this with strategic investments into mining and oil in Brazil? 5) China is now issuing RMB bonds from it's BRICs bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. In your opinion what does this mean for the global financial system and the Petro Dollar? 6) Bloomberg recently ran an article saying that the Chinese want to have more control over how all commodities are priced since China is the largest buyer of many commodities. Do you think China is doing a step by step process to castrate the LBMA and the COMEX? 7) Do you think there's a manipulation tug of war in the oil market between Russia/Saudis who want the higher cost producers all bankrupt while Wall St banks want to move oil prices higher to avoid declaring tens of billions in bad oil loans?

Eric talks about the massive amount of new short contracts the commercials (bullion banks) are issuing and how phony the jobs numbers truly are. Jason then asks Eric why the stock market hasn't crashed yet? Jason and Eric discuss inflation that's still in asset prices and in the global economy. Jason and Eric discuss whether communism, socialism or fascism have infected the US for 100 years. Jason says the communists and socialists don't care about owning the means of production as long as they can tax everything more every year and also create inflation to help redistribute wealth.
