CEO and Co-founder of Tithe.ly talks about founding Tithe.ly, how they funded, built it, and evolved from zero to 30,000MRR and beyond. Listen and learn.   Dean Sweetman spent over 30 years in ministry before launching Tithe.ly. The platform is designed to give you the tools you require to engage, stay connected, and ease the lives of your congregation and staff. He tells Geordie about his journey. What You'll Learn How Dean collaborated with his son to develop Tithe.ly How Dean transformed his business from an app to SaaS What problems do Dean and his team solve? The problem Dean's platform seeks to solve for the congregants Importance of content marketing How Dean and his team integrated other software into his platform Why company missions should be well-aligned to customer's missions What does Dean attribute their success to? How Dean and his team handled tremendous growth during the onset of Covid In this Episode: In his childhood, Dean was a passionate surfer who did not grow up in church. He gives basic details about his life from birth, growing up, and how he ended up being a youth pastor. Dean describes his journey to tech as the "30 years of preparation". At some point in his life, Dean had an encounter that he discusses in this podcast. Listen in for first-hand details.  The advent of the iPhone in 2012 was pivotal in catalyzing Dean's idea of transforming giving in the church into a smooth process. He sought to ensure that people could do it through a mobile gadget, anytime and anywhere. Dean describes a particular incident in Starbucks where he bought coffee and paid through his mobile phone. Listen to the podcast for this exciting story.  After the Starbucks incident, Dean tasked his oldest son, an engineer, with developing an App through which congregants could contribute directly to the church bank account.   Nine months later, the app was approved on the App Store, and Dean stood in front of his church with his MVP in hand. Dollars started trickling in through the App from the first month. How did Dean market the product? Being well connected, he encouraged his congregants and friends to download the app and utilize it in their churches. Listen as Dean explains his son's role which he continues to play in developing and running the platform. Dean and his team offered the App free of charge initially, but their business model changed as they evolved. Listen to the podcast for more details. Dean maintains that they strive to price their products fairly, and as the platform evolved, their vision moved from being an endpoint giving solution only, to an entire technical stack that churches require. The team continues to develop more products, and Dean illustrates them in this podcast. He talks about the problems he and his team solved for the church, and you can learn about them in the podcast. How do congregants benefit from Tithe.ly? Unlike in the past when credit cards were commonly used, many people are now transacting through mobile devices. Dean says nearly every industry has adopted mobile technology apart from the church, which limits their potential. He explains this concept further in the podcast. In a world where competitors are increasing every day, entrepreneurs need to devise strategies to remain ahead. Dean explains how they have managed to beat the competition. If you are an upcoming entrepreneur, listen to this section and gain the lessons. What pricing model does Dean use on big churches? He says they have a SaaS fee affiliated with larger churches and admits that 80% of their revenue comes through payments. Should you develop or buy software? Dean mentions that integrating different software into their platform was one of the biggest challenges they faced. He recommends developing software from scratch and explains how fortunate they were to acquire great technology from a small company. Listen to the podcast for comprehensive details. According to Dean, they experienced explosive growth during Covid. He explains how they execute their vetting process to ensure they are dealing with authentic churches. SEO plays a critical role in business growth, and Dean explains that most of the churches found them due to their powerful SEO. Before COVID, Dean and his team had devised a robust SEO strategy that came in handy to help them attract the right audience. He concludes the podcast by explaining what they are doing to reduce churn rate. Resources Tithe.ly Dean Sweetman LinkedIn Dean Sweetman Twitter

In today’s episode of the As Told by Nomads Podcast, join me and my guest, Dean Foster, as we talk about how cultural awareness can improve global work interactions. Dean Foster is a speaker, presenter, and author, who has played a central role in developing cross-culture training and consulting. He is also the founder of DFA Intercultural Global Solutions and the former worldwide director of Berlitz Cross-Cultural. Currently, Dean serves as the executive strategic consultant of Dwellworks Intercultural, helping people develop global cultural agility and a skillset for working across borders. Now, if you want to be more culturally aware, feel free to get in touch with Dean Foster via his website down below!Cultural Awareness In Global Virtual WorkWith how global work has become, cultural awareness can significantly affect how we communicate with our clients and our team. After all, cultures often differ in communication styles. Some cultures would evade negatives and retreat into silence rather than elect a topic. Meanwhile, others would come forward with a case and explain issues in detail. A global meeting will always have people with varying communication styles, and having it in a virtual setting will only accentuate these differences even more. Hence, as a leader or even a member of a global meeting, whether virtual or not, you need to practice mindfulness, understanding, and respect, all essential in cultural awareness. That way, people can feel comfortable communicating the way they need to. You have to use virtual meetings as a vehicle for listening, not just telling, and it takes enlightenment from the right resources to do so, such as Cultural Concierge. Outline of the episode:[04:07] Dean Foster’s background and how he got to where he is today.[08:48] What changed in globalization and cross-cultural work through the years.[16:30] How the revolution in technology supercharged the influence of cultural information and training.[18:34] What Cultural Concierge is and how technology made it easier for the service to provide ongoing cross-cultural support.[20:51] How cultural awareness can solve the fundamental issues of working globally.[25:13] Being guided by a cultural expert versus doing the research yourself.[27:13] The best practices for remote work and how to improve communication in a virtual setting.[32:17] How Dean navigated between his media and teaching career through storytelling.[35:50] Cultural Dexterity versus Cultural Relativity: how understanding and respect is essential in working globally.[40:07] What Dean thinks is the future of virtual work based on life during the pandemic.[41:53] The element of loneliness in the relocation business and how to get comfortable with separation from familiarity.[45:42] How Dean Foster uses his difference to make a difference.Resources:LinkedInWebsiteCultural Concierge Services:UYD Collective:Connect with Tayo Rockson and the As Told By Nomads Podcast on:Linkedin:PodcastTwitter:Personal Website See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

John Lavin and Dean Hesser join us to discuss improvements to our car preparation processes.  This includes before leaving for the racetrack, as well as at the racetrack and after the race.  We learned a ton of things that we should have been doing but weren’t simply because we didn’t know or hadn’t thought of it yet.  We hope that this episode will save you at least one headache at the track or eliminate one breakdown or even better prevent an issue on track that causes damage to you or your car.  We don’t have a lot of can't miss episodes, but this is one of them for sure. In addition, Dominating with Dawson we discuss some of the goal options for endurance racing.  It is not simply a situation where you are either first or last, but really it is a race where you and your team are trying to work together and perform at the highest level internally and the final position is a relative measure of the team’s performance versus the current bar that weekend.  While winning overall, or even your class, is a great accomplishment, it is not the only measurement available each weekend, especially early in your racing career. We hope you enjoy this episode!   Best regards,   Vicki, Jennifer, Alan, and Bill Hosts of the Garage Heroes In Training Podcast and Garage Heroes In Training racing team drivers Highlights from this episode include: 1)  Bill makes up a new word, “ThankYouNess”, well you know what we mean. 2)  How Dean has “capitalized” on being target fixated during a race.  Your results may vary. 3)  Then we go into a “Weekend At Bernie’s” worthy moment.  For those under 40, it’s a movie. 4)  A brief summary of why many of the Safety Third Motorsports team members have ended up using BMW’s as their weapon of choice on track. 5)  Bill cannot help but to make fun of the test drive at John’s shop where the GHIT M3 HPDE hit a deer.  Sometimes you can't make this stuff up. 6)  A discussion of their team’s racing plans for 2021 and how both teams generally decide where to race. 7)  How their team has progressed and grown over the years.  It appears that our team is actually following their progression, both in how our team is organized and how our drivers are individually progressing.  Perhaps there is hope for us.  Who knew?  Lol. 8)  How Dean and Jen both ended up learning and growing as racing drivers as a result of their track incidents. 9)  What is prepping a car?  What is involved?  What do you do before the race, during/at the race, and after the race to prepare and preserve your car and make sure that it has a higher likelihood of performing well. 10)  Basic assumption:  Assume everything is broken after a race and then verify before you take it to your next event. 11)  Develop a wear rate of consumables and moving parts and then develop a preventative maintenance plan to replace before they fail at the track. 12)  Overview:  Repair things as they break or replace them ahead of time at a certain interval.  Determine your team’s philosophy and plan appropriately.  13)  A standard rule of thumb is to use a margin for wear, it can range from 75% to 80% to 90% of the experienced failure rate before replacing a still good part.  This does not address issues due to abuse or an accident etc.  As an example, if your front wheel bearing fails after 100 hours or racing, you may want to replace them all before they break at 75 or 80 or 90 hours.  The balance of costs and/or effort vs your acceptable safety/failure factor is a personal/team decision. 14)  Several available options range from paint marking nuts and bolts to adding safety wires. 15)  What should you do when at the track and prepping for the race in the morning. 16)  What to do the night after are race while racing the next day. 17)  What to do post-race weekend while packing up to leave the track. 18)  Why checklists are so very important and how your team will need to develop it from your own experiences and particular car. 19)  It was good to hear that we aren't the only team to have had radio communication issues at the track.  They have come to the same solution as we have.  Painfully. 20)  The key is really to minimize the number and potential for errors. 21)  We finish up this segment with the post-race recovery process for your race car.  Don’t just put it away to wait for the next track event. 22)  We wrap up with a post episode discussion of the skid pad and the value that it has had to our driving, as well as Dean’s.

How to consistently create offers your ideal customers find irresistible is a part of business that challenges even the most seasoned, successful entrepreneurs. And once you’ve got them in the door, how do you continue serving them, so they stick around, keep buying, and keep benefiting?   The one, the only, Bearded Wonder of the United Kingdom (aka Dean) discovered a powerful, profitable way to create an offer his customers bought, LOVED, and profited from, even after insisting they “didn’t have the money” to buy it! It was that irresistible!   Join James and The Bearded Wonder himself (aka Dean) for this week’s episode to get the inside scoop on Dean’s crazy-amazing and crazy-profitable offer creation strategy. Outline of This Episode Start with these basics [2:29] How Dean got the sign-ups [15:55] You must over-deliver [26:15] Everyone is a buyer [35:00] Talk to your customers [46:30] 3 major points discussed   Read between the lines. Your list of BUYERS is a massive gold mine when it comes to creating offers. Dean shares how he surveyed his buyers, and that they told him they’ve invested all they could, and didn’t have more money to put into yet another offer. Instead of assuming that was the real problem, Dean used this information to tailor his offers in a way that could truly help them. He also followed up with them to figure out exactly where they were stuck. WHY did they feel they didn’t have enough money for more offers that could help them? The right mix of reading between the lines and engaging with your customers allows you to serve them in the best possible way. Create the offer. Once you’ve discovered your customers’ real problems, get that solution created. It may be a training course, but there may also be a faster, more involved, more valuable way for you to serve them. After identifying his market’s need, Dean devised a fast AND powerful way to get his offer up and running and helping. Money loves speed, and so do your customers. Sometimes the best and most profitable way to help them is also the fastest way. Play the long game. We see it time and time again - businesses who value the long-term relationship with their customers over everything else are the ones that last. Most of your profits will come from your most loyal, long-term customers. Customers come and go, so new customers are essential, but neglecting your loyal, long-term customers is a guaranteed way to lose them, and miss out on staggering amounts of profit, both directly and from referrals. Tune in to hear how Dean served the people who took him up on his powerful offer, and used it to build a long-term, profitable relationship with them.   Resources & People Mentioned Guest’s Website Guest on Instagram  Guest on Facebook  Guest on YouTube Check out his Podcast Music for “Just The Tips” is titled, “Happy Happy Game Show” by Kevin MacLeod (http://incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License Connect With James and Dean James P. Joining me today is Dean Graziosi, a New York Times Bestseller, entrepreneur, real estate expert, and speaker. His most recent book, Millionaire Success Habits and his podcast of the same title has inspired and given action to millions of people worldwide. He and Tony Robbins teamed up and launched the Knowledge Business Blueprint. In this interview, Dean and I will talk about how to use books to build a knowledge-based business, and how Dean has accomplished this goal with his own books. With dyslexia, Dean has had trouble and has struggled with reading his entire life. “I had never read a book cover to cover, and I was terrible at writing.” However, in 2005, he decided to write his first book to clear someone’s mindset to get the sales results they want. He wanted this book to be a tool in which the reader could use to achieve their dreams. Totally Fulfilled was this book - the first book published by Dean. When he finished his book, he hired an editor who he was excited to work with. After sending over his manuscript, she called him and said, “Dean, there are certain rules to writing a book, and you can break a few of those rules, but you broke every single one of them!”. She advised him to rewrite his book, and, with this information, almost decided to delete his entire idea and throw it into the trash. At this point, he hired another editor and asked her to clean up his book. She did, and when his book released, it hit the New York Times Bestseller list in four weeks! Dean suggests if you know your topic, and it’s from your heart, go out and share your knowledge and passion in your book. Dean recommends overdelivering on your value, with your first two upsells, then sell the big ticket item. People will be excited to purchase your big ticket item because they will expect you to deliver great value. Listen in to find why your mindset is a pivotal element in creating a book, why writing a book can make a significant impact in your life, and why you should extract marketing pieces from your book. Learn what Dean is doing now to move thousands of books a day, and how books bring out the essence of the author, and why writing an excellent book gives you a level of credibility. Show Notes [01:48] The why and how of Dean’s first publication. [03:25] Even though Dean knew nothing of writing a book, he moved forward with his idea of publishing his own book. In a world completely run by data, we may feel like we have no more choice in the matter, and that we just have to except it is what it is. However, Dean Shapero thought there had to be a better way. It wasn’t about blocking our data, but realizing that if someone was going to take it, we may as well get paid for it. With that idea, Loginhood was born. Loginhood is a Chrome Extension that allows you to get paid for the data that companies are already taking. On today’s episode of Just the Tips, we peel back the layers on the mystery, wrapped in an enigma, that is Dean Holland. I’ve known Dean for years and if you asked me what it is that Dean does, I couldn’t tell you. But over a recent visit, I realized what Dean’s superpower is: Creating affiliate programs so businesses don’t have to rely on paid traffic. That’s a bona fide superpower, and on today’s episode we dive into how Dean does it. Dean Holland: An Origin Story Dean has sold over $10 million in products online, and only just recently began using paid traffic. I think that if Facebook went away tomorrow, Dean would be perfectly fine (although he’d be a little angry, because he just learned how to use Facebook ads). But how Dean got into entrepreneurship and business more generally was through affiliate marketing. And so he looked at his history as an affiliate marketer, and he said, “Okay, what do the vendors do that make it easier for me as an affiliate marketer?” And he just started building from there. Affiliate marketing brings you the traffic The very basis of having an affiliate program is to have an army of people out there, trying to drive traffic to your business. Affiliates don’t get paid unless a customer buys something, so it’s like having a sales army out there that’s only paid by commission. As Dean says, it’s almost the perfect traffic source. The only trouble is: You don’t own that traffic. You can’t control it. So how do you get the most out of it? The Bearded Wonder provides the answers. Build the highest-earning affiliate program you can The big lesson that Dean took away from being an affiliate marketer is that you have to create the best-paying sales process that you possibly can. Affiliates will go where the money is. If I’m an affiliate thing, and I have 10 different offers that all fit my audience, which one am I going to choose? It’s the one that makes me the most money. Often, affiliates measure their performance by earnings per click. And so an affiliate is going to choose your product every time, if you offer them greater earnings per click. How to keep someone as an affiliate When Dean first started creating affiliate programs, they would be based around a product launch. So there would be a large push for, say, seven days, and then the program would be done. Since then, he’s switched it up so that he has an affiliate platform, where he’s trying to build long-term relationships with his affiliates. And there are a variety of ways to do that, because no one is going to push your products every day to the same audience. But luckily, Dean has lived and breathed the affiliate life, so he knows how to make it work. Outline of This Episode [2:45] Dean’s superpower [4:47] Dean’s beginning as an affiliate marketer [8:52] What Dean learned and applied to his own business [12:56] Get your baseline before you approach affiliates [14:37] What are the affiliate models? We unpack what it really looks like to impact the next generation for the future of the church. Dean also shares how he has taken City Church from a small group of twenty-somethings to a church for all ages. Their focus on outreach and the way they build relationships with their community is what keeps them culturally relatable. Dean also shares the incredible lessons that he has learned, not only from his successes but also from his failures. Key Points: Why reaching the next generation is vital for church health. This internationally renowned athlete known for pushing the limits of his endurance shares real running moments he never has before. Dean, at age 14 ran a marathon to raise money for charity. He started running home when he was in kindergarten and has always had a love for moving. He is known for his amazing endurance achievements, continuing to push what his body is capable of achieving. Dean most recently ran 50 marathons, in all 50 US states, in 50 consecutive days, finishing with the NYC Marathon, which he ran in three hours flat. Dean has also run for 24 hours straight on a treadmill in Times Square. He has run in many many incredible places around the world, on all the continents, across the Gobi desert. He is truly an amazing athlete, and is here to talk about his latest adventure; running the spartathlon, and completing the final 75 miles without any food or fuel other than water. For those who are still running in your later years, Dean is especially inspiring as he is now 55 years old and still going strong. If you want to hear questions and a discussion with Dean unlike any other podcast, this is the episode for you. Today’s Guest Dean Karnazes is an internationally renowned athlete known for pushing the limits of his endurance. Dean has run 350 continuous miles, foregoing sleep for three nights. He's run across Death Valley in 120 degree temperatures, across the Gobi desert, and a marathon to the South Pole in negative 40 degrees. On ten different occasions, he's run a 200-mile relay race solo, racing alongside teams of twelve. What you will learn about: What makes Dean’s calves the way many recognize him. How Dean had what most would consider an ideal life but was not happy with his non-running life, because things were just too easy and routine. How Dean keeps all the fan letters he gets in special folders in his trophy room. Dean discusses his recently released book The Road to Sparta and how he tried to recreate to the best he possibly could, the run Pheidippides did that inspired the marathon as a race distance. He discusses how as runners we get so caught up in the moment and our stubborn pride can prevent us from doing what we know we should do. Dean discusses how difficult it is to deal with all the crowds of people that come out to see him during his endurance events and being torn between needing to rest and wanting to acknowledge the effort they made to come out to see him. How he ended up choosing to forgo his own self care. When we are struggling during a half or full marathon it is a unique sensation to us as runners. Most people don’t have any way to relate to our experience other than perhaps a woman giving birth. We don’t have those intense moments on a day to day basis. There are moments of extreme doubt and suffering that you don’t normally experience in day to day life. How when you run overnight, you are overriding all your normal processes but your body takes over and your body finds a way to compensate and you are sleep running. Dean describes the anguish and struggle that every runner goes through during an endurance race. Shared experiences bring us together and builds bonds and how it doesn’t matter if you are an elite marathoner or first time 5k runner, you share the same experience. Dean runs every race that he attends because he feels it is important to share the experience with others. Dean talks about his participation with Marathon Wines, which is targeted to runners. Greece is the home for fine wines and there are stories of the early Greek runners drinking wine along their runs. The vines in Santorini make unique wines, high in electrolytes and by participating he is helping Greece. Inspirational Quotes: I wanted the pain and the struggle of doing something physical again. I am humbled and awed when I go into my trophy room that one man could accomplish all these things. Taking a few minutes in what might be a 30 hr race to correct something is far better than continuing on, but we get caught up in the passion of what we are doing at the moment. It is the fear of pain that holds people back, so shifting the paradigm to embracing the pain and responding, then your relationship to pain will change.   Dean Seavers is the President of National Grid, US. Prior to leading the US portion of National Grid, Dean worked in leadership at companies such as Ford, GE, United Technologies and Tyco. National Grid is one of the largest investor-owned energy companies in the world - covering the UK and the Northeastern part of the US. They have 16,000 employees – about 10,000 that are customer facing and the other 6,000 or so that are in management roles spread out across three states. National Grid serves 20 million customers. What are the workforce trends Dean is paying attention to? The first trend is technology-- we all need to be tech savvy. We can use technology to drive better efficiency and productivity through things like data analytics and automation. Dean says, “The reality is, I think, when you spend 80% of your time doing routine things, you don’t have the time to always focus on the things that truly add value for customers and employees”.   Dean is also paying attention to clean energy sources. National Grid is a big proponent of driving change in the way we consume energy. They are looking to solar, hydro and wind power to improve our impact on the environment. Another trend Dean is paying attention to is self-driving vehicles and electric vehicles. He believes transportation needs to be cleaned up and there are a lot of great advances coming that can help do that. Dean’s advice for leaders is to listen and understand employee base. It really is important to understand the pulse of the organization. You have to be transparent and drive alignment to values and lean into the challenges and make tough choices. What you will learn in this episode: How energy is evolving What it’s like to work at National Grid Workforce trends Dean is paying attention to How National Grid is using automation, bots, and people analytics to stay ahead Why Dean is now a believer in self-driving vehicles How the way we consume energy will change in the next 5-10 years How Dean is future proofing National Grid as the energy industry rapidly changes Contact: Dean Seavers of National Grid

If you are a serial entrepreneur, you can’t get bogged down in the detail. **  Hire long, fire fast. Don’t be shy about moving on if it isn’t working out with an employee. **  Keep your head clear. Do exercise and spend time with your family. **  Don’t get too hung up on the numbers. There’s more to life than money! **  You must embrace technology if you are to be successful in business. Scott Farquhar of Atlessian says: “these days you’re either a tech company, or you’re being disrupted by a tech company” **  Try and avoid purely competing on price. The mass buying power of the likes of Amazon makes it nigh-on impossible for a small business to compete on price.   In this episode of Business Brain Food you will learn: **  Dean’s amazing story **  How to provide a first-class service to your customers **  How to stay on top of seven businesses **  How Dean rode out the GFC **  The changing dynamics of the online marketplace **  The potential for Amazon Australia   Resources mentioned in this episode: **  Would you like to join MaxMyProfit as a Business Excellerator? https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/roadtosparta In 490 BCE, some masochistic Greek guy named Pheidippides ran for 36 hours straight from Athens to Sparta to seek help in defending Athens from a Persian invasion in the Battle of Marathon. In doing so, he saved the development of Western civilization and inspired the birth of the marathon as we know it. Even now, some 2,500 years later, that run stands enduringly as one of greatest physical accomplishments in the history of mankind. Dean Karnazes, my guest on today's podcast, came up with the crazy idea of honoring Pheidippides (and Dean's own Greek heritage) by recreating this entire ancient journey in modern times. During his run, Karnazes even abstained from contemporary endurance nutrition like sports drinks and energy gels and only ate what was available in 490 BCE, such as figs, olives, cured meats and even some stuff called "mastic gum". Then he wrote about the whole experience is his new book "". The new book is intriguing, comical, sometimes tear-jerking, and certainly thought-provoking and entertaining, and Dean is probably even more intriguing. Get a load of this guy... TIME magazine named Dean one of the “Top 100 Most Influential People in the World.” Men’s Fitness hailed him as one of the fittest men on the planet. Stan Lee called him, “Super Human.” He's an acclaimed endurance athlete and NY Times bestselling author, who has pushed his body and mind to inconceivable limits. Among his many accomplishments, he has run 350 continuous miles, foregoing sleep for three nights. He’s run across the Sahara Desert in 120-degree temperatures, and he’s run a marathon to the South Pole in negative 40 degrees. On ten different occasions he’s run a 200-mile relay race solo, racing alongside teams of twelve. He has swum the San Francisco Bay, scaled mountains, bike raced for 24-hours straight, and surfed the gigantic waves off the coast of Hawaii & California. His long list of competitive achievements include winning the world’s toughest footrace, the Badwater Ultramarathon, running 135 miles nonstop across Death Valley during the middle of summer. He has raced and competed on all seven continents of the planet, twice over. In 2006 he accomplished the seemingly impossible by running 50 marathons, in all 50 US states, in 50 consecutive days, finishing with the NYC Marathon, which he ran in three hours flat! In 2011 Dean ran 3,000-miles from the coast of California to New York City, averaging 40 to 50-miles per day (one day covering more than 70!). Along the way he stopped at schools to speak to students about the importance of exercise and healthy eating. When passing through Washington DC, he was invited to run through the White House to meet with First Lady Michelle Obama and be honored for his tireless commitment to helping this country get back in shape. Dean and his incredible adventures have been featured on The Today Show, 60 Minutes, The Late Show with David Letterman, CBS News, CNN, ESPN, The Howard Stern Show, NPR’s Morning Edition, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, the BBC, and many others. He has appeared on the cover of Runner’s World, Outside, and Wired magazine’s, and has been featured in TIME, Newsweek, People, GQ, The New York Times, USA TODAY, The Washington Post, Men’s Journal, Forbes, The Chicago Tribune, The Los Angeles Times, and the London Telegraph, to mention a few. Dean is the winner of an ESPN ESPY and a 3-time recipient of Competitor magazines Endurance Athlete of the Year award. Dean has also raised millions of dollars for charity and was awarded the prestigious Community Leadership Award by the President’s Council on Physical Fitness & Sports. Getting Ripped With Yoga, Using Isometrics To Build Massive Athleticism, Five Things You Must Do Every Morning & More!

At a health conference, two years ago, I met a giant, 6'5" basketball player - a beast of man - who swore that his entire fitness routine was comprised of yoga and basketball. I scoffed at this, swearing that the guy must be sneaking away to the gym to hoist a barbell or do explosive plyometrics... ...but then, just a few months later, I met another guy (a very ripped and athletic guy) at a different health conference, and this guy - named Dean Pohlman - completely destroyed me in an obstacle course competition, then informed me afterwards that his training primarily consisted of... ...you guessed it: yoga. So as you can imagine, I was somewhat intrigued with how one could use yoga to do things like maintain a very aesthetic body and build athleticism, and I had Dean on a podcast episode called "". That episode was so popular and helped so many people get fit with Dean's special flavor of yoga, that I decided to get Dean back on today's episode to talk yoga, mobility, athleticism, and much more! Dean is the founder of Man Flow Yoga, a fitness-centric style of yoga dedicating to helping anybody who wants to get ripped with yoga to not just get ripped, but to also get massive increases in their flexibility, core strength, endurance, balance, and bodily awareness. It’s basically yoga for people that want the physical benefits without the lifestyle change of becoming a hippie. You hold the postures much longer, more emphasis is placed on technique (instead of the spiritual), and the workouts are more catered to the physical needs of guys (although his workouts are equally accessible to women). Dean was a former collegiate-lacrosse player when he discovered the potential that yoga had to help improve physical fitness for athletes. He rejected the traditional approach to yoga, however, and in 2013 created a brand of yoga that catered to the more physical fitness-inclined individual. He is the author of the #1 bestselling Yoga Basics for Men eBook, and he has been featured in the Huffington Post, Fox 13 Tampa News, Austin KXAN News, Ben Greenfield Fitness (of course!), and many more top-ranked podcasts. During our discussion, you'll discover: -The five things Dean does every morning to create a perfect day... -The one breakfast Dean has every morning, 365 days a year... -What happens when you hold a pose in yoga for 60-90 seconds instead of the standard 10-30 seconds... -Why yoga will create a muscular imbalance in your back and shoulders, and what you can do about it... -How to develop power and brute strength with yoga... -Why Dean doesn't get into the spiritual side of yoga much, and my disagreement with Dean on this... -Why yoga doesn't increase your mobility, and what you can do about it... -Dean's top tool he uses to quickly remove muscle knots... -How Dean uses his elbow and other body parts to massage himself prior to yoga... -My crazy home massage routine that includes infrared, wholetones music, CBD, ayurvedic oils and more... -Why you should push the "reboot" button on your body each year (and how to do it)... -And much more!
